The only thing able to save the world is something (or someone) outside the world. Jesus came to reconcile a broken people and a broken world back to Himself in order to save the world. And He has given us the mission of bringing that Good News to people. You have what the world needs.

Taking Back Sunday's first three records were, and still are, essential emo listening. 2002's Tell All Your Friends was a spirited debut that helped the band stand out from the crowd, while 2004s Where You Want to Be showcased a new maturity to the bands songwriting before jumping to a major label for 2006s Louder Now, a high energy record that showcased the talent but also the turmoil in the band. Led by charismatic frontman Adam Lazzara, Taking Back Sunday from Long Island, New York have been performing for over two decades, with 7 full length records under their belt in what has been a long and impressive career. In this episode, I have my first guest! My buddy Adam and I chat about the second album "Where You Want to Be" from Emo virtuosos Taking Back Sunday. Where You Want to Be is the second studio album by American rock band Taking Back Sunday. While touring to promote Tell All Your Friends (2002), guitarist John Nolan and bassist Shaun Cooper left the group and were replaced by Fred Mascherino and Matt Rubano, respectively. After a co-headlining tour with Saves the Day in fall 2003, the band began working on Where You Want to Be. Dismissive of several early songs, they wanted to "grow musically with this [new album]." In March 2004 recording of Where You Want to Be began, with Lou Giordano as producer. The band recorded at Mission Sound in Brooklyn, New York for two weeks before moving to Water Music in Hoboken, New Jersey, finishing recording by April. Where You Want to Be has received mixed-to-positive reviews, selling 163,000 copies in its first week. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart, remaining there for an additional 19 weeks. It topped the Independent Albums chart and remained on that chart for 50 weeks. "A Decade Under the Influence" reached number 16 on the Alternative Songs chart and the UK Top 75 chart. Where You Want to Be is Victory's highest-charting album; in July 2005 it was certified gold in the U.S. for sales of 500,000 copies, and sales have since exceeded 700,000. IUF is proud to welcome our next guest onto the Deep Cuts segment; The amazing Brooklyn-based indie folk singer-songwriter and publicist, Gemma Laurence. It's one thing to continue creating the music you write from the heart, but it's another thing to have thick skin and work as a publicist representing other artists who aspire to step into the industry. Gemma has seen and learned things from the inside and out, and that has proved as evidence which helped her arrive at this point in her career. From her humble, isolated beginnings in Maine, to finding her identity - personally and artistically, and then to join a NY-based music agency (Tell All Your Friends) – a “wild ride” would be an understatement. Gemma dives into how she found herself within the realm of music and then taking the next next big step into being a publicist. At the same time, she gives her insight into what she has learned about the industry and the goals she has set for herself in the very near future. The pandemic had its effect, sure, but Gemma can now take those experiences forward and apply them to newer and higher goals as a person representing other musicians. Finally, we take the time to speak with Gemma about her own music – from her forthcoming studio album releasing in the Spring of 2022. Plenty to unravel with one of IUF's hard working partners in the industry. Gemma has done it all, but it's just the start. On episode 4 of the "Cry About It" podcast, it was my pleasure to speak with Neil Rubenstein. I've known Neil through the music industry for years. We worked together when he booked bands like The Sleeping, John Nolan of Taking Back Sunday, Michele Nolan of Straylight Run and many other great acts. You might also recognize his name from the liner notes on Taking Back Sunday and Brand New records. If you're too young to have bought a physical copy you'll recognize his screams from various songs on Taking Back Sunday's "Tell All Your Friends" album. He was also the frontman of  This Year's Model, Sons of Abraham and These Enzymes. Neil is now a hilarious comedian who travels the country bringing laughs to the masses with the same DIY ethic he learned in punk rock. He also has been going viral on Youtube and Tiktok and hosts a mental health podcast.Check out Neil's social:Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/user/MoBetter...Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@itsneilrubens...Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/neilrubenst...Does It Get Better? The Front Bottoms are a successful emo band, even though the modern music landscape has turned the phrase “successful emo band” into an oxymoron. After years of small tours and various recordings,  TFB vaulted into the national music consciousness with 2013's Talon of the Hawk. The success of that record garnered major label attention, and TFB subsequently signed with Fueled by Ramen. Their first album on Fueled by Ramen, the hilariously titled  Back on Top, proved that signing with a major wouldn't alter their sound too much. Their second Fueled by entry, 2017's divisive Going Grey, felt more major label-ey, with it's soaring synthesizers and big-budget production flourishes bedazzled some fans and pissed off some others. In Sickness and in Flames, released August 21, 2020, could not have been more anticipated by the PGP crew. As always we deep dive our favorite tracks, single out some Xanga-headline-worthy lyrics, and sound dope as hell doing it. Remember to subscribe, rate, and review. This helps the pod rank higher and attract new listeners. It also helps PGP find sponsorship opportunities for the show. And as Taking Back Sunday always say, please Tell All Your Friends.
