For six years, the **Blend LA Podcast** has been a space where House music legends, pioneers, and rising stars come together to share their journeys. From **Chicago to South Africa, London to LA**, we've uncovered untold stories, explored the spiritual and cultural depth of House, and celebrated the global impact of this movement. We've had the honor of sitting down with **iconic DJs and producers** like Tony Soul, Gene Hunt, Robert Owens, Lady Alma, Jesse Saunders, Wayne Williams, Vince Lawrence, Ultra Naté, Keith Thompson, and so many others who have shaped the sound and spirit of House music. We've connected with trailblazers like Lori Branch, one of the first female DJs in Chicago, and embraced the international energy of artists like Swazi Sunshine, Apiwe Bubu, DJ G, Roxcizzle, Yah Appiah, and Carlos Mena. We've talked about the roots of House, the culture it has built, and how it continues to thrive across generations and borders. Of course, no episode would be complete without **The Catch-Up**—our candid, raw, and always entertaining commentary. Whether we're cracking jokes, breaking down House culture, or diving into deeper topics, the energy between the hosts keeps it all real. As we celebrate this milestone, we recognize that **House music is more important now than ever**. In today's political climate—where attacks on **Black culture, LGBTQ+ communities, and artistic expression** are on the rise—House music remains a **sanctuary of freedom, love, and resistance**. Born from **Black, queer, and underground communities**, this genre has always been a voice for the marginalized, a space for unity, and a soundtrack for liberation. We also honor **Black History Month** by paying tribute to the pioneers who laid the foundation for House music, ensuring that their legacy continues to inspire future generations. And we're amplifying **Albius' challenge** to all DJs: **Play with intention.** Every beat, every set, every mix should carry purpose, because House is more than music—it's a movement. And to top it all off, **AMP Collective brings the heat with a soulful House set to celebrate six years of Housing**—a proper way to mark this milestone with deep, uplifting vibes. So join us as we reflect on the past six years, share behind-the-scenes moments, and look ahead to the future of House music and the Blend LA Podcast. This celebration is for **you**—our listeners, our community, our family.

Bright Light Bright Light, aka Rod Thomas, is an entirely independent pop superstar based in New York City.Hailing from Wales, Rod has rewritten the rulebook for being a singer songwriter without major label backing, mostly through tremendously hard work, and an ever-growing back catalogue of bangers. He's been backed, endorsed, and collaborated with legends like Sir Elton John, Erasure, Scissor Sisters and Ultra Naté over the years, but the latest Bright Light Bright Light album, Enjoy Youth, is Rod's most critically and commercially successful yet.We discuss music by Björk, Pino Donaggio, and Grace Jones.Further reading:Follow Bright Light Bright Light on InstagramPurchase Enjoy Youth hereCheck out Rod's Grace Jones playlist hereThe other bits:Tracks of Our Queers is recorded and edited between Gadigal and Ngarigo land by me, Andy GottListen to all of the music discussed in the pod with the Selections from Tracks of Our Queers playlistYou can email me with your own queer tracks or guest recommendations at tracksofourqueers@gmail.comOur beautiful artwork is illustrated by Luke TribeSend us a textSupport the showHelp keep Tracks of Our Queers ad-free by shouting me a coffee right here. Pod Crashing Episode 268 with Ultra Nate From The History Of The World's Greatest Night Clubs From London Audio, iHeartRadio, and executive producer Paris Hilton. Hosted by Ultra Naté, this is a 12-part podcast exploring how different clubs around the world revolutionized the way we party. How they ushered in the birth of new genres and became hotspots for political activism. But above all how they created space for people to escape the world around them, to lose themselves in the music and leave it all on the dance floor. Nightclubs are sanctuaries where people find their chosen family. It's where you experience the joy of dancing in crowded rooms with people open to accepting you for who you are, or whoever you want to become, even if it's only for the night. Partying brings us together. Whether that's under a mirror ball in New York or out in the sun in Lagos, beneath the glare of bright strobe lights in Berlin or while listening to the early sounds of a new genre in Detroit. They influence one another. Nightclubs do change the way we see the world. Because the pure joy of a good party has the unique ability to transcend language, culture and place. To reach people from different parts of the world and unite them through the magical, unshakable, desire to dance. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-history-of-the-worlds-greatest-nightclubs/id1692851253
