This week, Oliver Ngy gives us the slow pitch for managing bass fishing with lemon pepper, we enjoy bonefish stew while the law man inspects our anchor rope, lose expensive baits in the money pit that is boat ownership, and teach old-school Uncle Larry some new-school rockfish tricks.

HELLO, NEIGHBOR. YOU'RE CANCELLED Mr. Rogers would be cancelled today for what he was telling the kiddies way back when. There are lots of people doing prison time for what they did -or were accused of doing - on January 6. And that includes lots of women, one of whom was forced to share a cell with a man pretending to be a woman. Jack Cashill has the details in his book, “Ashli: The Untold Story of the Women of January 6.” Uncle Larry had an idea 75 years ago. It became a Pittsburgh institution. You can't go wrong with Aunt Barb and Uncle Larry. Great film, and definitely a filmmaker to watch out for.

My guest today worked for two seasons in Club Med and his first season was in Club Med Sandpiper in 1993 as a Bar. G.O. Before Club Med, he attended Emory University in Atlanta and has a degree in International Relations and Affairs with a minor in Spanish. He drove from Atlanta to Miami for his interview and was the only one wearing a suit, but he still got the job though! And how about this? This phrase has never been uttered in over 3 years of MFS: After Club Med, he moved to Asia and “taught Spanish to Japanese Salsa dancers”. Hooboy, there has got to be a story there somewhere! From Boston, now living in Key Biscayne, Florida, give it up for Joshua Bernstein! Joshua also worked at Club Med Playa Blanca during the 1994/1995 season with Kenton Smith as Chef de Village. We go through both Joshua's seasons in Club Med in detail as well as the people he liked working with and we get into that Japanese-salsa-dancer story as well! Joshua also talks about the season he spent with yoga guru Jack England in Club Med Sandpiper and we trade Uncle Larry stories from Club Med Playa Blanca as well! Please enjoy! **My First Season podcast has always been ad-free and free to listen to and is available to download on: Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Samsung Podcasts, Podbean App, Podchaser, Spotify, Amazon Music/Audible, TuneIn + Alexa, iHeartRadio, PlayerFM, Pandora and Listen Notes. The Ramblings of One: A Radio Labyrinth extra with Tim Andrews. (Thanks, Terri) A first, but hopefully not last, Tim audio-only episode where I ramble. Tim + ramble = Tramble. Get it? How original! My Aqua Teen episode aired last night & to my pleasant surprise my Uncle Larry called to tell me he watched it. He has questions! I wonder what my grandparents would think (although they wouldn't be surprised). I voiced; Michael Caine, Sylvester Stallone, Al Pacino & I think Patrick Stewart (partially on the last two) Plus: Getting over embarrassment and learning from others, I love making people laugh as much as I love being made to laugh, prepping to interview comedian Leslie Liao, and my social media regrets. #ATHF #AdultSwim #Radio #Podcast #Comedy #MichaelCaine #SlyStallone #AlPacino
Christmas is the season of joy, love, and...drama? Let's face it, the holidays can sometimes bring out the worst in our families. We've all been there - from Uncle Larry's incessant political ramblings to the simmering tension between your sister and her spouse. But what if we told you that you could take control of these situations, navigate tricky family dynamics, and truly enjoy your holiday? That's what our latest episode is all about! We dive headfirst into the meaty subject of blending holiday traditions in a marriage. We expose the raw and real experiences we've faced while managing car rides filled with antsy kids, and the challenges that newlyweds or blended families confront when integrating differing traditions. We learned, sometimes the hard way, that prioritizing your own family's needs over trying to keep everyone else happy is the key to a peaceful Christmas. We also stress the importance of setting boundaries, not just for your sanity but also to foster a healthier relationships with your loved ones.Lastly, we discuss the elephant in the room - forgiveness. As we reveal our personal experiences, the power of forgiveness becomes apparent, especially when it comes to family. But, we're not talking about shallow "forgive and forget" kind of forgiveness; we mean the deep, let-it-go kind of forgiveness that brings true peace and joy. So, sit back, tune in, and get ready to make this Christmas the best one yet – filled with love, connection, and positivity. Let's journey together to create beautiful Christmas memories.
This week, we here in the states are celebrating Thanksgiving! The time honored tradition of gluttenous eating among family and friends, football (if you're into that sort of thing), and avoiding the inevitable clash of politics that comes when you invite your boomer Uncle Larry to dinner. But aside from food, there are a few movies we've come to associate with the holiday. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (see our back catalog) is one of the go to films to come from the mind of John Hughes. But did you know there is another Thanksgiving classic out there. Dutch, the 1991 family/dark comedy starring Ed O'Neil hot off the success of Married with Children and a super young Ethan Embry try to replicate the formula that Steve Martin and John Candy perfected but add a spin about the complexities of class and the struggle within a family dealing with divorce. Does this classic from yester-year hold up? We'll find out today! DISCORD!!! Take the conversation further! My guest today hails from beautiful Montreal, Quebec and his first season was in 1996 at Club Med Punta Cana as a Boutique G.O. Please help me welcome to MFS, Steve Ouimet!! Before Club Med, Steve was a singer in a rock band and he also managed a clothing retail store (Neon) in Montreal. From 1996 to 2007 he worked in Club Med resorts such as Magic Isle, Haiti, Club Med 1, Varadero, Cuba, Cancun, Playa Blanca, Paradise Island, Crested Butte, Columbus Isle and Djerba la Douce. When Steve was eighteen years old, he went to Club Med Cancun as a G.M. in the late 80's. During Steve's first season, he actually thought he had to be at each activity (like beach volleyball for example) if he was not working at the Boutique! This went on for ten days until someone told him he did not have to do that! Steve may have started at the Boutique but went from there to Sailing, to Landsports, to Chief of Sailing, Chief of Sports to finally Leisure Manager. Do you want a ton of stories?! Steve has them!! From Skydiving with Aureo Stern in Club Med Varadero, to performing a G.M. Show number with Uncle Larry, to crossing the Atlantic Ocean twice with the Club Med 1 and actually witnessing the Club Med 1 and Club Med 2 pass each other on the open water, Steve had quite the adventure in Club Med! The interview ends with Steve telling us the three things he misses the most about Club Med and the names of some of the incredible people he met and became friends with. **My First Season podcast has always been ad-free and free to listen to and is available on: Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Samsung Podcasts, Podbean App, Spotify, Amazon Music/Audible, TuneIn + Alexa, iHeartRadio, PlayerFM, Pandora and Listen Notes. We're back!!! We took a little emergency break AGAIN, we're so sorry, but we're back!!! We start off talking about fan theories, then of course we are derailed by: The Road to El Dorado, hating the MCU in 2022, and the role of Amelie in the rise of the alt-right.We bumble through a recap before launching into Chapter 7: Surprises, and what surprises there were!Tiaa wakes up, unsure whether or not she really shotgunned Uncle Larry or if it was all a dream. She is somehow EVEN MORE beautiful and ethereal than before, so she is a vampire CONFIRMED. We meet a new friend with an excellent name, and have a run-in with a cheerleader. Ewdard comes along to ruin the fun, and things get RACY.Check out The Restricted Section, a pro-trans rights, raunchy podcast reading the Harry Potter books chapter by chapter. We were recently guests on their episode on Book 5, Chapter 4, and had an extremely good time.https://open.spotify.com/show/3KMGbaDOg7bGBcps4SOof7?si=7d6c47362eaf4aa9https://www.instagram.com/restrictedsectionpod/You can follow us on Instagram and Twitter @FangfictionPod, or check out our website https://fangfiction.transistor.fm/ to listen to episodes or find links to subscribe to Fangfiction in all the podcast places! CONTENT WARNING: mentions of sexual assault. Normally we would skip all the Uncle Larry content, but in this chapter some of it is necessary for the flow of the story. We censor as much of it as we can, but if that's distressing for you then feel free to skip 32:44-33:00.News flash: Edward Cullen wears awful outfits!!!! Also, this is NOT the second-to-last episode of the season, sorry Zac! This is Chapter 6: The Curse! We put out an open call for auditions for unpaid interns to pretend to be us because we are DONE with this goddamn fanfic. Lucy talks about missing writing, and why she's deleting her AO3 account. We then discuss sequels we wish for (sort of) and the sequels we wish would stop being made before doing the laziest recap in the history of Fangfiction and diving into Chapter 6!Tiaa has written a POEM about Ewdard, so this week's special treat is Lucy doing slam poetry. YOU'RE WELCOME! Then, RED ALERT!!! The plot is MOVING FORWARD! We learn about the curse that could befall Tiaa should she let Ewdard do sex on her, so let's see how long she can resist him. A bunch of things happen that we wish didn't happen, but then the thing we have been waiting and hoping for happens! #SheShotgunnedUncleLarryCredit for today's theme music goes to Love Me Electric for their extremely excellent punk rock version of 'Total Eclipse of the Heart'! My guest today and I worked together in Club Med Playa Blanca during the 1996/1997 season, but his first season was in Club Med Cancun in April of 1996 as a Tennis G.O. From Mexico City and now living in Cancun, please help me welcome Vladimir Mayllen! Vladimir worked for Club Med from 1996 to 2014 in resorts such as Cancun, Playa Blanca, Sonora Bay, Sandpiper, Turks & Caicos, Ria Bintan in Indonesia and Phuket in Thailand. Vladimir did everything from Tennis, Landsports, Chief of Traffic, Community Liason, Chief of Sports, Leisure Services Manager to interim Chief of Village. Before he started working at Club Med, Vladimir (who was 7 years old at the time) and his family would live at Club Med Ixtapa while his parents would manage some businesses they had in the area. After that, Vladimir would go on to attend UCLA and obtain a Communications degree. A chance meeting with ex-CDV Ricardo Gonzalez at a BBQ in Mexico City, led to Vladimir being offered employment with Club Med. Although Vladimir may have started as a Tennis G.O. his first weeks in Club Med, he quickly went from Tennis to Bar to Standard (phone operator) all in the span of his first season, but I will let him explain that progression! Since we both worked at Club Med Playa Blanca in 1996/1997 and had an amazing season, we reminisced a little over our time there. We shared “Uncle Larry” stories and I tell Vladimir how in awe I was the first time I saw a Mexican G.O. celebrate his birthday in the main restaurant. This memory has stayed with me the entire time, so you will just have to listen to his amazing episode to find out why and also if you don't know who Uncle Larry (RIP) was. Vladimir is currently a General Manager for Royalton Luxury Resorts at the Royalton Rivera Cancun Resort & Spa. **My First Season podcast has always been free to listen to and is available on: Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Samsung Podcasts, Podbean App, Spotify, Amazon Music/Audible, TuneIn + Alexa, iHeartRadio, PlayerFM, Pandora and Listen Notes. This episode is a compilation of excerpts and songs, extracted from a larger body of work, to be released in its entirety soon. Daniel Sharp, with a prior County Line appearance under his belt, returns alongside Alan Aldridge of Porch Talk and Ethan "Carter" Carter, who often serves as The County Line's barkeep. Throughout this preview, Daniel of All Around Hounds, provides insight regarding one of his most popular works, "Uncle Larry," in addition to elaborating on the importance of creating art. Daniel's performances throughout the production proved to be the high-water mark of the conversation had amongst the four accomplices.Alan, Ethan, and Lee are absent from this preview of the full-length episode, to be released soon. For now, Daniel Sharp is centerstage and he does not disappoint. Please like, share, and subscribe. We hope you enjoy! Thank you for all your love and support!-The County LineSupport the show

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Andrew McCutchen is not only one of baseball's best all-around players, he's also a fun guy off the field, which can't be said about everyone in the league. The 2015 NL MVP and five-time All-Star talks to Jensen about his hilarious quarantine alter-ego “Uncle Larry,” how that epic Topps trading card came to be, and his recent viral “Fresh Prince” moment in an empty Philly rental. They also chat about Andrew's return from injury, the game's need for black community outreach, and how - or if - MLB locker rooms can actually adapt to today's Black Lives Matter movement.
