Greg surprised a bunch of the Moore Student Radio team with a celebrity guest during a tour of the Radio 1 Big Weekend studio in Liverpool. They had no clue Miley was about to appear live on screen. They didn't believe it was the real Miley Cyrus. There were a lot of emotional Hannah Montana fans in the room. Introducing Becky the Wasp Biologist. She wrote a song for the Edinburgh Fringe from the perspective of a wasp and we have the exclusive first play on Radio 1. Becky says they are misunderstood and she's rooting for all wasps. Apparently she's got a catalogue of songs about wasps. Watch this space. You heard it here first. Katie Thistleton and Vick Hope are off on maternity leave this summer so Jamie's wife Sophie is joining him on Radio 1 in the afternoons. She thinks she's the only person on the planet who can put up with him for 3 hours a day every day. It's live so wish them luck. Greg flossed his teeth with Charlie Hedges hair when they hugged at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Liverpool. Not weird at all. Now that's out there let's get on with ThursWAAAAHAAY business. What's making you wahhaahhhaay today? It's clumsy runner Nat's turn on Yesterday's Quiz. She wants to beat her husband Marcus, which TBH is a low bar. Flop Flips is probably the best answer to the question – what are flip flops called in Australia. (It's thongs). No spoilers here for All The Latest Things. IYKYK.

In this episode I go on a style journey with Broadcaster and Amnesty Ambassador … the human ray of sunshine that is Vick Hope. Vick is one of the most joyful and positive women I have met in a long time. Chatting to her I wished that my 21 year old self could have been a fly on the wall for the conversation and taken on board some of her wisdom. Her sense of self and acceptance of who she is is inspiring …(not hard, I hear you say, when you look like she does), but like every woman I know, we all feel we could be better at this, or life would be easier if we looked like that…yet Vick has reached a place of loving life, and all its imperfections, and her joy is simply, and beautifully, infectious. We talk about how she didn't feel like she fitted in growing up, then felt like a fish out of water when she went to Cambridge University, and how she had been “a bit unkind to herself”, before finding herself when she moved to London. She clearly loves fashion and shares anecdotes of being inspired by her mother, clothes swaps at Uni and dressing for her different broadcasting roles which to date have been many and varied included presenting Crufts, the Paralympics, and boxing, to co-hosting the Baftas and the Brits…she is about to be a guest presenter on Pointless and currently hosts the Drive Time Show on Radio 1 with Jordan North…and so much more…her life is clearly a happy whirlwind, and she is joyfully embracing every moment…in a word…inspirational.

Talk about an alonement icon – radio DJ & broadcaster Vick Hope is a woman who radiates everything this podcast is about, as a sunny, ambitious, beautiful soul with an infectious passion for life, or as she puts it 'a gratitude for being alive'. This episode was recorded in September 2020, and in the full episode Vick talks about living alone, being single and building a relationship with herself after a one-time fear of time by herself. While no longer single (Vick is rumoured to be engaged to Calvin Harris), this is a universal message of what it means to celebrate your aloneness as a unique individual – regardless of your life stage stage or romantic relationship status. Listening back to this gives me chills, and I hope it resonates with you in a similar way. Another reason this one is close to my heart: the full-length of this episode was recently nominated for an award at the Skylark International Women's Podcast Awards, ceremony to come – the award is appropriately titled 'Moment of Insight From a Role Model'. On the show today… The new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder is here, revealing the usual stunning graphics and wild fight scenes, but also a lot of laughs and... a gratuitous look at Chris Hemsworth's bum. And Florence Pugh has found herself once again having to defend her relationship with Zach Braff, after fans celebrated paparazzi photos which they took as proof the controversial couple had broken up. It's a strange insight into fandom, and how celebrity social media use can lead to parasocial relationships, against their will. Plus, Calvin Harris is engaged. Yes, the Scottish musician who also happens to be the one Taylor Swift ex we all forgot about, has proposed to his partner of five months, Vick Hope. But considering the man also just announced new music, we can't help but feel a little bit cynical about this timing. In today's episode, we're joined by award-winning presenter and author Vick Hope. There are some people in life who you are convinced must have more hours in their day, such is their impressive list of achievements. Vick Hope is one of those people. Born in Newcastle, Vick was so adamant that she wanted to go to Cambridge to study Modern Languages that she paid for her own evening courses and shocked her parents and school when she won a place. A similar pattern has followed ever since - if she sets her mind on something, she makes it happen.Today, Vick is not only a hugely successful TV and radio presenter - she currently hosts Radio 1's much-loved Life Hacks show - she also speaks four languages, has worked with Amnesty International since she just sixteen years old, has written two children's books with her former co-presenter Roman Kemp, and she came fourth in Strictly Come Dancing in 2018. She is clearly a woman with unfathomable amounts of energy and drive. But it's also that desire to impress, to always say yes, to seize every opportunity and to please everyone around her, that lead her to have a complete burnout a few years ago. Something so many of us can relate to in a world that equates busy-ness with success. This is Vick's story in her own words...Vick Hope is on this year's judging panel for the Women's Prize for Fiction.
