What would you do if somebody sent you a photo — and the exact location — of a 200-inch whitetail? On Episode 339 of the Chasing Giants Podcast, Don Higgins and Terry Peer dive back into one of the most debated subjects in hunting: the difference between what is legal and what is ethical. After last week's discussion generated more than 100 comments, Don explains why hunting ethics have to go beyond simply asking whether something is legal. That conversation leads directly back into thermal drones — including the story of a hunter who spent $10,000 on a thermal drone, used it for only a few months, and then sold it because he believed the technology crossed an ethical line. Then Don addresses controversy surrounding a recent Whitetail Master Academy clip about receiving tips on giant bucks. Don explains exactly what happens when somebody sends him information about a big deer, why most tips never make it beyond his computer, and why he has walked away from opportunities to hunt tremendous bucks when doing so would step on another hunter's toes. Don also shares an incredible story about locating a giant Nebraska buck on public land. After tracing the trail-camera photo back to the young hunter who originally captured it, Don called him directly and asked for his blessing before hunting the deer. The hunter said no — and Don walked away. Plus, Don and Terry answer listener questions covering: Why Don is cautious about river-bottom hunting properties Whether NutriCrave high-oil corn is difficult for deer to digest Whether shooting a cull buck can push a target buck off your property How to recognize hunting content that may not tell the entire story How Don chooses stand locations based on wind Why sometimes the best hunting decision is simply staying home The episode closes with Sunday Night Prayer Time with Ty Miller and a challenge to stop merely reacting as Christians and begin intentionally viewing our lives, neighbors, challenges and priorities through God. Every August, Jess hears the same story on repeat: decision makers are on holiday, budgets are frozen, nobody's picking up the phone, so why bother? In this episode, Jess pushes back on that, hard. More decision makers and stakeholders are booking sales calls this August than she's seen in the last two years, and her own clients, working across leadership, performance, executive coaching, and fractional HR, are signing forty thousand pound retainers and hitting their entire annual revenue targets in six or seven months. It's not quiet out there - not even close! Jess is clear that when a sales process stalls, or a sales pipeline stops converting, it's rarely the market's fault, and it usually comes down to one of three things. First, contagious negativity: doom and gloom talk spreads through business communities faster than success stories do, the same way an unhappy customer tells far more people about a bad experience than a happy one tells about a good one. If everyone around you is agreeing that nothing's working, it's easy to absorb that as fact instead of checking it against your own numbers. Second, strategy hopping: jumping from cold email outreach, to LinkedIn outreach, to networking, to trade shows, without ever giving a single method the time, volume, or clearly defined success markers it needs to prove itself. Most coaches and consultants haven't been taught what a lead generation channel is actually supposed to produce. Its job is to book qualified sales calls, not close deals on its own, so judging an outreach campaign by how many sales it generated directly, rather than how many qualified conversations it opened, is an unfair test from the start. When that test fails, the channel gets written off and the search for a new one begins again, wiping out whatever progress had already been made. Third, and often the reason the other two happen at all, is not having a proven, best practice sales process to troubleshoot against in the first place. Without one, there's no baseline to compare results to, no way to tell whether a tactic is underperforming or simply hasn't had enough time, and no way to tell a genuine problem apart from ordinary variation. This is made worse by a gap that rarely gets talked about: most coaches and consultants have invested heavily in qualifications for their specialism, whether that's leadership, HR, nutrition, or executive coaching, but very few of those qualifications include any formal sales training. Learning to sell on top of learning to deliver is a genuinely big undertaking, and struggling with it in year one is normal, not a personal failing. The real cost of strategy hopping isn't the time spent on any single failed attempt. It's staying stuck in the hardest, least comfortable phase of selling to corporate clients for far longer than necessary, because every reset means relearning lessons that a fully implemented, properly measured process would only have taught once. Coaches and consultants who commit to a single proven process, follow it as designed, and give it defined time and volume before judging it, tend to move through that difficult first phase once and into a far more sustainable place: referrals, inbound leads, and account maximisation with existing clients. So if you're heading into the final stretch of summer wondering whether to pause lead generation until September, the evidence points the other way. Corporate decision makers are still active, still booking calls, and still signing contracts. The businesses seeing the strongest results right now aren't the ones with an easier market. They're the ones executing, and honestly troubleshooting, a sales process they actually trust. Key Quotes "The purpose of lead generation is to book qualified sales calls." "That attitude is contagious. Happy customers will talk about their experience with a company to one or two people. Unhappy customers tell on average ten people how unhappy they are about something." "The hardest bit of selling to companies is the first year doing it, because in the first year selling to companies, you are learning and implementing all new skills." Key Takeaways 1. The Market Isn't the Problem. The Story About the Market Is. A slow market isn't universal, it's what happens when a proven process isn't being run. 2. Negativity Is Contagious, and It Spreads Faster Than Success Does. One unhappy voice in your peer group can talk ten more people into believing the market's dead. 3. There's a Real Difference Between Positive Critique and Defeatist Thinking. Diagnosing a specific gap fixes your process; writing off a whole channel after one bad week doesn't. 4. There's a Clear Divide Between People Who Fully Implement a Strategy and People Who Hop Between Them. Chasing a quick win means never finishing anything long enough to know if it actually works. 5. Customising a Proven Template Often Breaks It. Tweak a proven template and you lose the ability to tell whether the strategy failed or your edit did. 6. Very Few People Selling to Companies Have Ever Been Taught to Sell. Nobody trains coaches and consultants to sell, so struggling with it in year one is normal, not a failure. 7. Every Sales Activity Is an Experiment, and Experiments Need Defined Success Markers. Without defined success markers upfront, you can't tell if a tactic is failing or just unfinished. 8. Strategy Hopping Keeps You Stuck in the Hardest Part of Selling to Corporates, on Repeat. Every reset sends you back to the hardest, least profitable stage of selling to corporates. 9. August Is a Genuine Opportunity, Not a Dead Zone. Waiting for September to restart outreach guarantees a slow start to Q4. Most leaders assume they should lead others the way they would want to be led. It sounds reasonable—but it can actually limit your effectiveness. In this episode, I share a different perspective: your team members are your customers. And just like customers, they may need something different from you than what you would want yourself. If you want to become a more effective leader, it starts by understanding what your people need, adapting your approach, and creating an environment where they can do their best work. One of the most powerful things a leader can do is flex their approach to meet the needs of others. When you do that, everyone wins. This idea is at the heart of my book, Flexible Leadership: Navigate Uncertainty and Lead with Confidence. This episode is part of a nine-part series on commissions. How to prepare for them, respond to them, deliver them, and, crucially, how to stop them burning you out. If you haven't followed the podcast yet, hit follow so you don't miss an episode. Today, episode one of nine. The mindset. Because nothing in the practical work across the next eight episodes actually holds if the mindset is not in the right place. Let me start with a story. KEY TAKEAWAYS Before you draft a single document, you have to get honest about what you actually want, not what feels polite, not what you think people can afford, not what your imagined client might say yes to, what sustains your practice and keeps Your work alive. You're not responding to briefs, you're filtering them, shaping them, and sometimes quietly refusing them. A commission inquiry is not an instruction, it's a proposition. Your job is not to say “yes” by default, it's to decide: Do I want to make this? Can I make it well, profitably, and without wrecking my sanity? Audit your last two years of commissions: Which ones drained you? Which ones energised you? - notice the patterns. These will inform how you set up your commission process in future. BEST MOMENTS “When you define your process, your time and the kind of commissions that genuinely excite you, something changes. You stop bending yourself to every vague inquiry.” “The hunger for work that feels human, specific, and emotionally resonant is only going to grow the work you make, the way you make it, the meaning you bring to it, that's becoming rarer - not less valuable - more valuable.” “You're not responding to briefs, you're filtering them, shaping them, and sometimes quietly refusing them.” "Your role is not to shrink in anticipation of rejection. Your role is to articulate clearly what you offer, how you work, and what it costs." Maybe the shifting, the uncertainty, the not-quite-there feeling — that's not the problem. That's the season. We get into what it looks like to invest in yourself before everything else. Palm Sunday began with “Hosanna”… and ended with “Crucify Him.”Why? Because Jesus didn't meet their expectations. In this episode, we wrestle with a hard truth: sometimes Jesus won't fix the thing you're asking Him to fix—because He's going after something deeper. The question is… if He doesn't show up the way you hoped, will you still trust Him as King?

Have you ever felt like you're doing everything right… and still feel disappointed in your body? You're lifting the weights. You're eating the protein. You're trying not to obsess. And yet the scale isn't moving the way you hoped. Your stomach looks the same. Your body doesn't reflect the effort you're pouring in. And if you're honest? There's still frustration there. Maybe even a quiet prayer that sounds like, “God, why isn't this changing for me?” Today's Faith Filled Friday episode is for the woman who is exhausted from striving. The woman who's tired of tying her peace to progress photos. The woman who feels like she can't fully rest until her body looks different. We're having an honest conversation about what it looks like to find real peace — the kind that only comes from Him — even when your body doesn't change the way you want it to. Because your peace was never meant to be scale-dependent. If this resonates with you, I'd love to connect. Come join us inside the Lose Weight, Live Free Facebook community, or send me an email at TaraJ@dietditching.com and share your story. You don't have to walk this journey alone.
Do you ever feel frustrated that your life isn’t moving the way you want it to? What if the problem isn’t a lack of motivation—but a misalignment between what you want and what you’re investing in? And what if the reason things haven’t changed yet has more to do with safety, identity, and belief than effort? In this episode of A Really Good Cry, Radhi opens up an honest, grounding conversation about why the life you want might still feel out of reach—and how your time, energy, beliefs, and nervous system are quietly shaping your reality. From the difference between fantasizing and truly investing, to the way identity, fear, and old patterns can hold you back, this episode is an invitation to look at your life with curiosity instead of judgment. Rather than pushing you to “try harder” or think more positively, Radhi explores how real change happens when your actions, beliefs, and sense of self begin to align—and why sometimes the thing blocking your growth isn’t laziness, but protection. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why your life reflects what you’re funding, not what you’re wishing for How misalignment between words and actions keeps you stuck What “identity lag” is and why growth can feel uncomfortable even when you’re doing everything right Why your nervous system may not feel safe receiving what you want yet How belief, optimism, and small shifts in action can gently change your direction This isn’t about blaming yourself or overhauling your life overnight—it’s about awareness, honesty, and making space for alignment. Sometimes the shift you’re waiting for doesn’t come from doing more, but from seeing clearly where you already are—and choosing one small change in the right direction. Allow yourself to ride the waves of life and emotion, and receive the goodness that's coming. You are capable of success. In today's episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen explores what to do when life doesn't unfold the way we expected, especially for intensely sensitive and neurodivergent leaders. She speaks to the emotional waves that follow disappointment and how we can move through them without losing ourselves. Dianne unpacks the hard truth behind self-blame, why receiving support is part of healthy leadership, and how clinging to beliefs that no longer serve us quietly creates more suffering. Because when we soften, allow support, and release outdated narratives, we make space for growth, resilience, and real success. Things don't always go your way and that's not a mistake. In this episode, I explore why resistance to reality creates more suffering than the events themselves. I share how moments that look like failure, loss, or disappointment often become the doorway to something better. If you're navigating uncertainty, change, or frustration, this episode will help you respond with maturity instead of reactivity. Sometimes the path forward only appears when you stop fighting where you are. We rarely question the assumptions that feel most true. Yet they quietly shape our behaviour, decisions, and stress levels. In this episode, I break down how to recognise these hidden drivers and test them cleanly. A practical reset for clearer and cleaner thinking. Nobody gets a vote in what you decide to do in retirement, unless you give it to them. I'm not saying to ignore your family or friends who have your best interests in mind. But for all of us, at or nearing retirement age, we have to figure it out for ourselves. That means we have to figure out what matters to us, and how much it matters. What may work ideally for me and Rhonda may not be what works best for you. Hence, the phrase, "You do YOU." Let's discuss some recent studies that examine how seniors spend their money. This episode is as engaging as it is educational. I am joined by Farida Raafat, founder of DALYA, for a rich conversation about personal style, the meaning behind materials, and the art of intentional design. We talk about what it looks like to “dress the way you want to be addressed,” the bespoke process she's created specifically for women, and how she builds silhouettes that balance strength and ease. Farida also pulls back the curtain on the business side—sharing the complexities of working across borders, navigating tariffs, and staying grounded in your values while growing a brand. Whether you love fashion or just want to feel more like yourself when you get dressed, this one's full of insight and inspiration.Show Notes: —Visit DALYA's website and follow on Instagram—Connect with Farida on LinkedIn—Join our newly launched BU Style Circle paid membership and resource hub--Follow Us:Follow the podcast on social media, and submit your questions by sending us a message here!@bustyle@natalie_tincherCheck out the website for more info at www.bu.styleSign Up for Nat's NewsletterRate, Review, & Subscribe to the podcast on Apple & SpotifyThis Podcast is brought to you by Upstarter Pods

At a New Delhi conference, an Assamese writer is interrogated on why he writes about magical folktales instead of the insurgencies. A mother splashes around in the village lake to mask the lovemaking sounds of her son with another man. A newly arrived graduate student in Minnesota navigates living arrangements with his white roommate, Mike, and Mike's Indian girlfriend. In agile and frank prose, The Way You Want to Be Loved: Short Stories (Gaudy Boy, 2024) tells the stories of queer, displaced lives from India's Northeast, an underrepresented region in English fiction. A hybrid cast of characters represents the common people in these thirteen stories, whether western-trained academic or village sorcerer, army soldier or local politician, homeward-bound son or dutiful daughter-in-law. They wrestle with diasporic melancholia, the social pressures of familial duty, and the search for their own personhood, even as they live in a world where personhood is continually compromised and reshaped under oppressive forces larger than themselves. Aruni Kashyap offers up a powerful critique of the malfunctioning democracies of India and the US, deftly balancing devastation and tragedy with a darkly humorous tone that has readers questioning their laughter. At its core, The Way You Want to Be Loved explores what it means to love, desire, and long for life under the duress of everyday and state-sanctioned violence and discrimination.
