Uranium stockpile untouched after US strikes on nuclear sites: Iran "A senior adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, has said that the country's enriched uranium stockpile remains intact despite recent US air strikes on nuclear sites. Ali Shamkhani, a key figure in Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said the attacks failed to damage Iran's nuclear capabilities. “Even if nuclear sites are destroyed, the game isn't over. Enriched materials, indigenous knowledge, and political will remain,” he wrote on X." Trump seeks 'peace' deal with Tehran after Iran strikes: report "US President Donald Trump reportedly has no plans to continue military strikes against Iran and is instead pursuing a peace agreement, Axios reported, citing an unnamed American official. Rencontre avec Somayeh Rostampour à l'occasion de la parution de son livre, Femmes en arme, Savoirs en révolte, du militantisme kurde à la Jinéolojî, aux éditions Agone.Ce livre a pour objet un féminisme qui ne dit pas son nom, qui émerge dans un conflit armé long, un féminisme pensé par et pour des femmes kurdes, au carrefour de plusieurs oppressions. Un féminisme qui bouscule les normes et idées occidentales, qui oscille en permanence entre émancipation effective et renforcement des normes genrées, et dont la théorie et la pratique sont indissociables.Cet objet particulier s'inscrit dans un contexte qui ne l'est pas moins : un peuple sans État depuis que son territoire a été découpé sur quatre pays (Turquie, Iran, Irak, Syrie) ; une lutte pour la libération nationale contre l'État turc menée sur tous les fronts (légaux et clandestins, armés et pacifiques) ; une guerre permanente contre Daesh, influencée par l'humeur et les intérêts des pays occidentaux ; et une société patriarcale bousculée par un mouvement qui souhaite mettre la libération des femmes au cœur de son projet de société.L'autrice parvient à analyser l'émergence de cette théorie, résolument collective, en donnant la parole aux actrices qui la crée, sans faire l'impasse sur les contradictions du mouvement.Nuancée, l'autrice ne laisse place à aucune condescendance, et critique à la fois le nationalisme, l'orientalisme et l'eurocentrisme. Meanwhile, the FBI has stated there is no definitive link between this incident and a separate vehicular attack that occurred in New Orleans on New Year's Day. *) Türkiye to protect all 'aggrieved groups' in Syria Türkiye remains committed to protecting all "aggrieved groups" in Syria, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said. Addressing a joint press conference in Ankara, Fidan declared Türkiye's role as a guardian for minorities, including Nusayris, Alevis, Yazidis, and Christians. Anas called him a "brave Mujahid" and vowed his sacrifice would not be forgotten. A government source reported that the explosion killed the minister and some colleagues, identifying it as a suicide blast. In a statement released on Wednesday, Daesh claimed responsibility for the bombing saying that Haqqani was the primary target of the attack. *) Historic mosques targeted: Hindu far-right seeks to rewrite India's history In India, mosques are increasingly under attack by Hindu far-right and have become battlegrounds for competing historical narratives. Hindu far-right groups allege many were built over destroyed temples during Muslim rule. The most recent target in this campaign involves the 16th-century Sambhal Mosque, also known as the Shahi Jama Masjid, in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. A petition filed on November 19, 2024, claims the mosque stands on the ruins of the ancient Harihar temple. The mosque, designated a "protected monument" in 1920 under British rule, now faces legal challenges threatening its historical status.

We also discussed some recently published films including one covering a desert blues festival in Morocco and embedding with an autonomous people's army in Mexico called the Zappatistas who took on the cartels and the Mexican government and won! In addition, Antoine and his crew were the first international journalists to interview a representative of Hezbollah, the heavily armed and powerful militia group currently in conflict with Israel off the back of the October 7th invasion and massacre by Hamas. According to the Lebanese state news agency, Israeli drones flew at low altitudes over Beirut's southern suburbs before the strikes. The air strikes targeted areas near the Litani River, between Yohmor al-Chaqif and Zawtar al-Sharqiyah in the Nabatieh district. Since the ceasefire took effect on November 27, a total of 155 violations have been recorded. ⚫ S Korea's Yoon apologises for martial law order ahead of impeachment vote South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol apologised for declaring martial law, acknowledging the public anxiety caused and vowing not to reimpose it. The apology came ahead of a parliamentary vote on his impeachment and protests demanding his resignation. Yoon pledged to take full responsibility and follow his party's guidance to address the crisis. ⚫ Türkiye warns against PKK, Daesh exploiting Syria's chaos Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan informed US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that the chaos in Syria should not be leveraged by terror organisations like PKK and Daesh. The two diplomats discussed the situation in Syria during a telephone call on Friday, as reported by Turkish diplomatic sources. Fidan emphasised the need to avoid past mistakes and urged the Syrian regime to engage in dialogue with the opposition and initiate a political process. ⚫ Turkish diplomat Feridun Sinirlioglu elected OSCE secretary general Veteran Turkish diplomat Feridun Sinirlioglu has been elected as the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, making him the first Turkish citizen to hold the position. Sinirlioglu's election was confirmed during the OSCE's 31st Ministerial Council meeting in Malta, which was attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. His candidacy was approved unanimously by all 57 OSCE member states across North America, Europe, and Asia.

The capture of Syria's major cities by rebel groups Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and the Syrian National Army, fighting against the forces of President Bashar al-Assad, offers Turkey the opportunity to achieve its strategic goals in the country. The lightning offensive of Islamist militant group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army, which has seen the rebels capture several major Syrian cities in less than two weeks, gives Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan leverage over his Syrian counterpart President Bashar al-Assad."Turkey can easily stop both [rebel] entities and start a process. Turkey does have this strength, and Assad is well aware of it," said Murat Aslan of the SETA Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research, a Turkish pro-government think tank. Until now, Assad has rejected Erdogan's overtures for dialogue to end the civil war peacefully.
