Welcome to the most excellent future, Void! We are here in our garage playing our guitars (plucking strings) to make the most bodacious music (cacophonous garbage). This week we watched the documentary film about public high school in San Dimas in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure." Erin and Brennan discuss REAL history: the realities of plate armor, an extensive discussion on medieval torture, and Joan d'Arc not being Noah's wife (though she may have believed it). We talked about how this movie is the American version of Dr. Who, how charisma can really take you places, and why spelling matters (Wyld Stallyns is more of a Monty Python sketch than a rock band). Overall, we learned to be excellent to one another and to party on, dude! This podcast is in no way an actual review of the city of San Dimas, California or its educational system.
Travel through time at the behest of a futuristic society at the end of time? Sounds familiar! But before you break out the Wyld Stallyns shirt, let me burst your bubble by saying this actually has a weird war game at its weird core. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On this episode of the Rocklopedia Fakebandica, we are excellent to each other and party on with the fake band that will someday save the world...Wyld Stallyns! [air guitar lick]
Bill S. Preston Esquire and Ted “Theodore” Logan are about to stir up some trouble at the Circle K, as we celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. From hilarious quotes, memorable characters and time travel in a phone booth, this movie was and still is a cultural phenomenon. This week Rob, Dave and Kurt will check out, possibly the worst way to get your homework done, as we look at two lifelong friends/slackers trying to navigate through the tumultuous time that is High School in Southern California. From Napoleon and Socrates to waterslides and ice cream sundaes, Bill & Ted will get into and out of every insane situation you can think of. So these Wyld Stallyns will run free in the studio this week as we review a film that combined an inventive storyline, humor and heart, resulting in a memorable and beloved piece of 1980's cinema. Its charm lies in its ability to be both absurd and earnest, making it a timeless favorite. Join your favorite Big Kids on a most excellent adventure. Today we are not just Big Kids - We are the Wyld Stallyns!! We are going to examine the first ever Ted Talk. The first Ted Talk took place at San Dimas High School in 1989 in the form of an extensive history report. This unforgettable performance was delivered and choreographed by William "Bill" S. Preston Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan. The report featured lights, music, plenty of theatrics, and some of the most influential historical figures. This week the Big Kids rank these historic figures from the legendary movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Be excellent to each other... and PARTY ON DUDES! Episode 220: The history and legacy of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure almost wasn't so excellent. Its original plot had to be changed during shooting, a major role was left uncast until the last minute, its original ending was abandoned for being, honestly, most heinous, and its production company went bankrupt during post-production.But, just like the movie, its ending was most triumphant. Bill and Ted would pass their history report, form Wyld Stallyns, and their music would create utopia on Earth. The movie would become cemented in 80s comedy, for not being totally bogus and giving us two of cinema's most bodacious heroes, as well as two sequels. Not to mention, it invented the internet (sort of!) and highlights the power of non-traditional scholastic education.Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes!I would love to hear your thoughts on Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure !CONTACT.... Who doesn't love Keanu Reeves? No one, that's who. This week the Junkies continue their semi-regular feature looking into some of pop culture's most important films from one of its most beloved stars. Our final Keanu 101 lesson is on the movie that is one of his first: Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Starring an extremely young Keanu along with Alex Winter, this movie gives a pair of himbos a time machine and sets them loose in history. Excellent! The Junkies talk about how well the movie holds up today (spoiler: it could be better) and wonder if it's possible to have a metal band with just two guitarists. Though the movie is set in San Dimas, California, it was shot here in Phoenix and some of the Junkies' favorite places. Strange things are afoot on the podcast this week, so crank up the Wyld Stallyns and enjoy this last adventure with Keanu. You can get ready for our next 101 lesson by watching Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction.Thank you to Olympus Games, the home of the Pop Culture Junkie Podcast.Links:Apple Podcast:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/pop-culture-junkie/id1536737728Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/7k2pUxzNDBXNCHzFM7EL8WWebsite: www.popculturejunkie.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/PopCultureJunkiePodcastTwitter: @PopJunkiesInstagram: @pop.culturejunkiesEmail: junkies@popculturejunkie.comAlex on Instagram: @alcasnunAlex on Twitter: @alcasnunHayley on Instagram: @thirtynerdythrivingNicole on Instagram: @nicole_eldridgeNicole on Twitter: @naeldridge14Nicole on TikTok: @nicole_eldridgeShauna on Twitter: @shaunatrinidadShauna on Instagram: @shaunatrinidad

Nosey neighbors, pointless ponytails, and Excellent Adventures! It's February 17, 1989 and the boys are hopping in their time traveling phone booth to revisit THE ‘BURBS, TRUE BELIEVER, and BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE. Episode 70 of Opening Weekend? EXCELLENT!February 17th, 1989: An opening weekend bursting with so much misguided mediocrity, not even one of James Woods' scrunchies can contain it. While Mr. Woods is chewing up the scenery, Dan, Jason, and Fred are chewing on everything Burger King had to offer. If only Bill and Ted could travel back in time and say, “Dan! Dude! Put down the Chicken Royale! Try this excellent salad!”Or maybe, “Fred, dude! No need to join a band with a 30-something psychopath you met through a personal ad! Wyld Stallyns needs a drummer!” Or “Jason, dude! What's with the bad review of our movie in your high school paper? Not coo…Oh, wait…actually….you're right. NOT EXCELLENT!!!” (Cue air-guitar) What's creepier? Tom Hanks' new neighbors, the Clopecks or James Woods' head's new neighbor, the ponytail? And did we mention James Woods has a ponytail? And then James Woods' ponytail comes to James Woods' ponytail while Dan, Jason, and Fred all James Woods' ponytail because James Woods' ponytail! And holy sh*t, James Woods' ponytail! All this and more James Woods' ponytail on Episode 70 of Opening James Woods' Ponytail Weekend!

Episode 83Greetings, most excellent Explorers! The stellar Summer Special comes to an end with Bill and Ted Are Doomed. This bodacious comic book acts as both a sequel to the first two Bill and Ted movies as well as a prequel to Bill and Ted Face the Music. One would think after a most triumphant ending to Bogus Journey, that our Wyld Stallyns saved the future. However, the future is in peril again! Only this time it's because they're in debt and haven't lived up to their promise. They decide, without any input from their wives or the rest of their band, to go on a world-wide tour to save the future and themselves. The story was written by Evan Dorkin, illustrated by Roger Langridge, and published by Dark Horse Comics.Join Dennis and Johnny as the discuss the career of Evan Dorkin. Next, they delve into the Bill and Ted Universe and where the comic fits in it. Finally, they converse about the innocence of the Bill and Ted characters. Additional topics include our love of Dorkin's Beasts of Burden; the problematic beginning of the book; the connection between the Breakin' movies and Bogus Journey; how to make the Crow work (spoiler: you can't); the extinction of the Rocker Dude of the 80s; the book's sweet and touching ending; and last, but not certainly not least, the storytelling and art of Bill and Ted Are Doomed. We'll be back in October 2021 with our annual Halloween Special! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/graphicnovelexplorersclub/message See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

It’s been a rough week in California, so we thought it’d be the perfect time to send some love Hollywood’s way with an awards show celebrating our favorite Movies About Music! Let’s call it the Movies About Music Awards Show (working title)! We took this one as far as we’ve taken any hypothetical awards show before, and then went just a bit further :-)Greg (who created the MAM Awards over a week and a half ago) kicks thing off with the fiercely competitive “Films That Make You Least Want To Become A Musician” category. We recommend staying away from all of these, and recognize them tonight, but only as a “head’s up” to anyone unsure on the whole music-as-a-major-and-or-a-career-path thing, you follow your dreams... The nominees this year for the category are:“Last Days”“Shine”“The Pianist”“Whiplash”Song: Buddy Rich - Solo 1 (Live from Toronto, CA/1977)Jay presents a brand new category (while all categories are technically new, this one seemed newer than the others), it’s the award for the “Best Fictional Movie Band Name” (see what I mean? it just sounds cooler). Our nominees this year are:"Wyld Stallyns" from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure"Dr. Teeth & the Electric Mayhem" from The Muppet Movie"Sex Bob-Omb" from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World"Crucial Taunt" from Wayne's WorldDuring the commercial break that we cut out, Jay was awarded a special “Best Fictional Podcast Band Name” award for “Ravenous Taint”. Great job Jay!Song: Tia Carrere - Ballroom BlitzNick presents the final category of the evening, the acclaimed “Movies That Make The 70s Seem Enjoyable”. It’s hard to watch a movie and know you’re being misled, it’s even harder to love one…so it’s a particularly inconsistent and tough category to keep stocked. Nevertheless the nominees for the award this year:Mrs. Doubtfire*RocketmanBohemian RhapsodyThis is Spinal TappAlmost FamousSong: Led Zepplin - Tangerine*likely caused by a glitch in the nomination processThanks for listening everyone!

(https://discord.gg/jWF9BbF) BILL AND TED ARE DOOMED #1 CREATORS Writer: Evan Dorkin Artist: Roger Langridge Colorist: Roger Langridge Cover Artist: Evan Dorkin, Sarah Dyer The official prequel series to the new film! After defeating the evil dictator De Nomolos in Bogus Journey in 1995, things aren't looking as excellent as they should for either Bill and Ted or Wyld Stallyns. There's tension in the band and worry at home. Bill and Ted's obsessiveness with writing the one song to bring peace to the world is affecting their playing and their relationships with their families.

Cool completely in pan on cooling rack." -Betty Crocker Wisdom comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes it's from history's greatest philosophers pondering life and death. Sometimes it's a 30-year-old slacker film franchise pondering time and space. Sometimes it's a trusted brand in consumer baking telling you how to cook brownies. With the release of Bill & Ted Face The Music, we return to bring you more musical madness courtesy of Wyld Stallyns and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. It's a film near and dear to Joe's strange, twisted heart! Bogus Journey is a snapshot of the moment when hair metal acts like Winger and Neverland began to fall out of favor as alt-rock acts like Primus and Faith No More began to hit the mainstream. Landing just before Nirvana's "Nevermind," it was a musical changing of the guard, and the blending of the two works well for the film's darker tone. And to top it off, we've got epic riffs from Steve Vai, funky metal tracks from King's X and Ritchie Kotzen, and KISS doing a fittingly reverent cover of Argent's "God Gave Rock & Roll To You". Come join us and party on, dudes! SHOW NOTES: Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey is available to stream here You have to see the Bill & Ted TV series Visit WingerTheBand.com for all your Winger needs! Fans of the Wyld Stallyns were pleased to finally get their first look at the upcoming sequel, Bill and Ted Face the Music. Dan takes a closer look to break down all the details in today's episode of Nerdist News.
Mark, Rick and Brian share some final thoughts on Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, while also holding a mini "reviewsit" of its sequel Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. The lads learn of a different transportation mode originally intended before the time traveling phone booth was used, how there was supposed to be a 3rd member of Wyld Stallyns named 'Bob' and how Bill & Ted were almost the cause of the Titanic sinking. The fellas also research the history of the Ziggy Pig ice cream challenge, recap some disturbing episodes of sitcoms such as that time Jesse James murdered The Brady Bunch or when Punky Brewster fought a fire cave demon and they present the epic conclusion to their new tale "Bill & Ted's Unprecedented Expedition." Just punch in @5DollarBinPOD into the magical phone booth keypad and get ready to join these "Brady Bandits" in some rather skewed looks at history!
Bill and Ted are back and so are The Soulless Minons of Orthodoxy as they join the Wyld Stallyns for a journey through heaven and hell in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. Although Bogus isn't held in the same regard as the original, it's still a worthy sequel. It took chances by not playing it safe, expanding the story and mythos of B&T. Then there's Willaim Saddler as Death...he nearly steals the show. Sync Point - The frame after the MGM logo has faded away. Email us soullessminions@gmail.com
