"Be excellent to each other, and party on, dude..." In 1989, Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan embarked on a journey, that could've had a "most heinous" outcome if it weren't for one literary legend's input. Have a listen as we breakdown this most excellent movie in the most triumphant fashion.Thank you for listening! Don't forget to rate & subscribe. New episodes bi-weekly. Also available on YouTube.
Though most people will associate Alex Winter with his performance as Bill S. Preston, Esq. in the Bill & Ted series, he has done so much great work both in front and behind the camera over the years. While Alex dropped in to talk to us about his new film, Destroy All Neighbors, we had to talk to him about his crown jewel; Freaked. Alex is one of the greatest people to chat with and he has so many wonderful things to say, including some uplifting news on a possible official return of Freaked. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/overduerentals/support

And party on dude!! Join us on this tubular trip through time as we discuss the quirkiest, most laid-back pair of time travelers in cinematic history: Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan, played by the incomparable Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves. They're two high school slackers who are about to change the world with their rock 'n' roll dreams, but there's just one problem: they need an A+ history report to keep the dream alive. In this episode, we'll delve into the heart of this cult classic, exploring its zany plot and wild historical hijinks. From their phone booth time machine to their encounters with historical figures like Socrates, Joan of Arc, and, of course, Abraham Lincoln, we'll break down the laughs and life lessons woven into the fabric of this excellent adventure. We'll also chat about the movie's memorable characters, including the Rufus, the time-traveling guide played by the legendary George Carlin, and the delightfully wicked historical figures who are as confused by the modern world as Bill and Ted are by history.Check out the merch: http://shop.backinthedaypodcast.comFriends of the Show1 Man Mafia (twitch.tv/1man_mafia)Jayke The Gamer God (twitch.tv/JaykeTheGamerGod)IB Best Gaming (https://www.tiktok.com/@ibbestgaming)Intro for the shopSupport the show'Beavis and Butt-head' Cover art created by Joe Crawford
After a brief dalliance with modern mid-ness, it's time to get back to the classics.I'm talking about Bill S. Preston, Esq. I'm talking about Ted "Theodore" Logan.I'm talking about an Excellent Adventure. This movie never should have been made. It almost wasn't released. It stands the test of time, somehow, as one of the most imaginative and funniest comedies ever made. And if you don't agree, you're bogus. But this is Kate's first time seeing this movie (we know, we know). So will she agree that it's an absolutely brilliant absurdist take on time travel and the nature of what we call "history?" Or will she Get The Flick Outta Here?Check out their socials!Alex: @AlexSourGrapsKate: @MissKatefabeVisit our website:KnowYourNews.comSend in Superchats for movie moments you'd like to discuss!http://www.kynchat.comCheck out our socials:Facebook: facebook.com/knowyournewsTikTok: tiktok.com/@knowyournewzInstagram: instagram.com/knowyournewzTwitter: twitter.com/knowyournewz
(Tinny fanfare of trumpets and Sousaphones like the beginning of newsreels in old timey movies begins) The Business Device Hall of Fame, located in the heart of Gary, Indiana, ( near Jermaine Jackson's son Jermajesty's restaurant Jermajesty's Steak and Crepes) better make room for a brand new exhibit because this week's thesis for the Overlap Podcast is going to be the biggest thing for business - even better than when Mavis Beacon taught typing, more monumental than when metal was molded and bent until paper first was clipped and will make the Rolodex look like the piece of crap it truly is - a Lazy Susan for business cards. Yes, this week's central point stands tall above all other business must-haves, save only the GOAT of office supplies - the red Swingline stapler, which was only created after the intense demand from its appearance in the cult classic Mike Judge film “Office Space.” What is this Deus Ex Machina, this device from the gods themselves meant to change our world forever and always? Of course, it's the Full Focus Planner - allowing our boys Sid and Keith to further explore the furthest reaches of time management not unlike a modern day Bill S. Preston, Esquire, and Theodore Logan (minus the phone booth and Death, obviously). The pair's excitement for the Full Focus Planner is catchier than Pink Eye and will likely be just as contagious, as our boys share the joys of their new favorite toys. They'll share personal anecdotes, goals set and matched and (because their schedules are so well-managed and curated), they'll even have time to take you through the first 50 pages of their screenplay they've written - picture it, a Whodunnit murder mystery in the style of “Murder on the Orient Express” but with the Muppets as main cast and Hologram Carol Channing as the only human character. Somebody get Jack Warner on the phone - we've got his tent pole flick for next summer. (Okay, maybe not that last part, but… real talk, you'd go see that movie in theater. Or at least pay like $3 to rent and stream it one night, right?) So, Plan to Focus Fully on this week's Overlap Podcast - anyone who finishes the episode can email us to get the 10 question quiz. Score 90 or above and you'll get a coupon for $1.75 off the ticket price for “Murder on the Muppet Express,” in theaters June 2028. Get your Full Focus Planner today!
This week a two pairs go on excursions that shed light on their inner psyches. He's riding that dot-com bubble, she's a stripper, and together they are... in Los Vegas for three days. After being dumped, Richard is disconnected from the world and to try and find his way back he offers Florence ten thousand dollars for three nights. She accepts with some conditions. Are their experiences just business or is there a deeper connection? Will Richard find his way back to whatever he was or will he remain a shell of his former self? Will Florence's band cut their demo and allow her to follow her dreams? Or will it all go to hell because of what is really The Center of the World? Bill S Preston, Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan are about to being fulfilling the destiny that led them to a most Excellent Adventure. All they need to do is learn how to play, win the San Dimas Battle of the Bands, against competition like Primus, and shake the evil robot replacements sent from the future to kill them. This time going through the realms of the afterlife with the Grim Reaper on their trail, can the boys possibly pull it off and save the future? Will the paradise they create become a fascist craft foam nightmare? Is there anyway the next release can subtitle Station, even as a hidden extra? Where will they go on Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey? All that and one of us is picked to perform a solemn and ancient service. Join us, won't you?Episode 275: A Royal Sacrifice

You know we couldn’t end Keanuary without Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure! While this 1989 movie may not be known for its costumes (especially as it takes place over just one day) the Bill and Ted look is easily recognizable, fun, and dare we say, relevant? The cropped sweatshirt look is definitely in these days, hello, Bill S. Preston, Esquire. Costumes are by Jill M. Ohanneson (Six Feet Under, Revenge, Preacher). In this episode, we talk about how a fashion historian uses the brief Beethoven scene as a benchmark for all Regency-era movies and debate whether or not teens still use binders. Also, Blaire realizes she’s never seen the 1993 erotic thriller, Sliver. For visuals of the costumes, follow us on Instagram at @fishnetflixpod DM or email your movie requests at info@fishnetflix.com! Episode notes: The Bill & Ted test Playboy x Missguided

The Lodgecast faces one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year. Ted "Theodore" Logan and Bill S. Preston, Esq. are back for a third installment of the Bill & Ted franchise. It's 30 years later and Bill and Ted are now middle aged parents with daughters named Theadora "Thea" Preston and Wilhelmina "Billie" Logan. Before we Face the Music (2020), we examine our histories with Excellent Adventure (1989) and Bogus Journey (1991). We then evaluate how effectively Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves have traveled through time and if their music can truly save the world in 2020. It's a new epic adventure also starring Kristen Schaal, Samara Weaving, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Anthony Carrigan, Erinn Hayes, Jayma Mays, Holland Taylor, Kid Cudi, and Jillian Bell. It is written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, who wrote the first two Bill and Teds. Dean Parisot, creator of Home Fries (1998) and Fun with Dick and Jane (2005), directs this Bill and Ted sequel. Hear our critical response in this full episode!
It's been over 30 years since Bill S Preston, Esq. and Ted Theodore Logan first became a pop culture smash hit in "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure," but with everything that's happened in 2020, their third movie, "Bill & Ted Face the Music" is somehow exactly what we needed. In this episode, Andy Farnsworth is joined by KSL TV morning news anchor Dan Spindlefor an overwhelmingly positive review of "Face the Music" (with spoilers)... as well as some hilarious deep discussion breaking down three decades of Bill & Ted and how a ridiculous concept has managed to have such cultural staying power. We were supposed to unite the world in nerddom. According to George Carlin, a podcast created by Tansley and Agne will save reality as we know it, uniting humanity across all time. If only we could get it done in 90 minutes. Good thing we have a time machine, because we're going all the way back to 1989 in San Dimas, California (which looks conspicuously like the suburbs of Phoenix) to celebrate Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Then we're cheating death, giving melvins to evil robot us-es and definitely not covering KISS as we dial up Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey from 1991. And finally, we drop the old phone booth in the nightmarish hellscape of 2020. After a most unprecedented 29-year hiatus, Bill S. Preston, Esq., and "Ted" Theodore Logan are wild dads ready to unite the world against a most heinous dearth of new movie releases. Reuniting an almost-too-Bill Alex Winter and a maybe-not-Ted-enough Keanu Reeves, Bill & Ted Face the Music shows us the inseparable slacker icons still struggling to fulfill their musical destiny (in maybe a little bit of a Bogus Journey retcon). And as their fairytale marriages near a breaking point, the future calls with a hard deadline. So lick the Cheetos dust off your fingers and hop into your time machine — whether it looks like a vintage phone booth or a sleek adult massager — because we've got a band to assemble and a song to not technically steal. Te adoro, Guillermo. Hosted by: 'Waterloo' Tim Agne (@timagne) Featuring: 'Station!' Greig Tansley (@greigt13) Music by: Big Pig and KISS.

Sometimes it's a 30-year-old slacker film franchise pondering time and space. Sometimes it's a trusted brand in consumer baking telling you how to cook brownies. In any case something nice and special happened, if only of the most brief and frivolous moment, and the Nighthawks would like to share that with you. But first, it's time to make good on an episode we've long teased. What you have on your device in front of you is the Bill and Ted Trilogy episode of the Nighthawks Podcast. We have a spoiler-filled discussion of the first two nearly-30-year-old films in the franchise, which introduced a generation of Gen X and Elder Millennials to Bill S. Alex Winter is enjoying his third go around as the character Bill S Preston in Bill and Ted Face the Music. We talked with Alex today about the second weekend of Bill and Ted's new adventure on the big and small screen. Alex says the fans are the ones who are responsible for bringing Bill and Ted back to life, even more than he and Keanu's desire to play these characters again. We talked to Alex about the new and old cast assembled for the movie and what it was like to return this beloved character.

Filmmakers Alex Winter (Bill S. Preston Esq.) & William Sadler (Death) talk about the film three decades in the making: Bill and Ted Face the Music. They offer humor and insight into this dialogue with Noel T. Manning II as they explore chemistry, relationships and death.
It’s 2020 and Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are back in the new film Bill & Ted Face the Music. The movie catches up with the Wyld Stallyns frontmen 29 years after Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. Face the Music is simultaneously ridiculous, funny, sweet and proof that a 90s-style comedy can work in 2020. It also captures the essence and joy many of us experienced watching 1989's Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. On this episode of I’m So Obsessed, my guests are Alex Winter, better known as Bill S. Preston Esq., and Scott Kroopf, who produced all three Bill & Ted films. They discuss the cultural appeal of Bill and Ted, the ingenious casting of Bill and Ted’s daughters, the hysterical performance Anthony Carrigan from HBO’s Barry gives as a robot and how they paid tribute to George Carlin.
In honor of Bill & Ted: Face The Music, we look back on two films which feature the most non-heinous exploits of Bill S. Preston Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan! Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and their subsequent Bogus Journey are two silly, good times type films with a very positive message. Sure they have more plot holes than all six seasons of LOST combined, but they also remind us to BE EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER! ,,/ After the main discussion, we'll ask you to name a historical person, place or moment that you'd use the time booth to witness! In case you haven't heard: Bill and Ted are back! And today we're joined by Alex Winter. Alex talks with Carrie Poppy about his new movie Bill & Ted Face the Music, his documentary about former child stars, Showbiz Kids, and why he left acting for 25 years. Plus, he'll reveal what the "S" in Bill S. Preston Esq. stands for. San Dimas High School Football rules!
The Cinemistress took a nostalgic trip back to San Dimas, California to catch up with Bill S. Preston, Esquire and Ted Theodore Logan. It is time for Bill and Ted Face the Music. There are still strange things afoot at … Continue reading →
In 1989, the world was introduced to Bill S. Preston, Esquire, and Ted "Theadore" Logan, and their band to be, "Wyld Stallyns." These to goofballs with the lovable personality of labrador retrievers, showed us how history and rock n roll could come together in a perfect union. Two years later, they showed us how they could even win over Death himself, and even get him to join the band. Join us as we dive into the stories and fun of these two amazing movies, in preparation for this months release of the last chapter of this most excellent adventure.
This calendar year may be an irredeemable trash fire, but a few bright lines shine through, including the totally [air guitar] Bill & Ted Face the Music! It's been nearly a year since our last #KeanuClub episode -- and nearly 30 years since the last time we saw Bill S. Preston, Esq. (Alex Winter) and Ted "Theodore" Logan -- but we're back in the saddle and read to save the world once and for all! In this episode, we talk about the way Bill & Ted Face the Music recaps, sets up, and sends off the franchise; the perfect additions to the cast (including Samara Weaving, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Erinn Hayes, Jayma Mays, and Anthony Carrigan); and the totally non-non-non-bogus (and positively joyous) ending. The #KeanuClub feed may be dark for a while as Keanu Reeves gears up for the fourth installments of John Wick and The Matrix, but join us for one more excellent adventure!
Excellent! It's the end of August, and while we may not have gotten a summer movie season this year, we did get to spend one more time with our friends Bill S. We're children of the 80's, and as a result, the time traveling adventures of Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted “Theodore" Logan have a soft spot in (most of) our hearts. Incredibly, after 30 years, Bill and Ted are back in an unlikely third movie. In preparation, the Rampant Discourse crew decided they would do a watch party of the original movie: Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Join us as we take a trip down memory lane and re-learn the importance of being excellent to each other. Continue the discourse on our website, Discord, Twitter, and Facebook.
Back in 1989, we met Bill S. Preston and Ted "Theodore" Logan in the movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. They returned in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey in 1991. And now, almost 30 years later, they're back. In Bill and Ted Face the Music, Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves return as... well, Bill and Ted, respectively. And this time, they'll need not just their triumphant band to save the world, but also their daughters.
It's time for us all to learn how to be excellent to each other, and there's no better teachers than Bill S Preston, Esq and Ted Theodore Logan! Mike and Mike gift you guys one from the heart...In this new world we need to embrace the brightest timeline that is this film and Wild Wyld Stallyns. The world of our distant future is a veritable utopia, thanks to the lyrics of two simple-minded 20th Century rock and rollers, Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan. However, a would-be conquerer threatens to throw history off-track by sending "most non-non-heinous" evil robot Bill and Teds back to kill their good counterparts. Once... they made history. Now... they are history.
Take a listen now to some of the most insightful filmmaking conversations around thanks to director RYAN BROOKHART talking TWO WAYS TO GO WEST and writer/director KYLE COUCH talking THE TENT. Plus, hear what ALEX WINTER had to say about the much anticipated BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC during our recent exclusive interview! First up is director RYAN BROOKHART talking about his new film - TWO WAYS TO GO WEST. A drama that showcases some dynamic performances from James Liddell (who also wrote the film), Paul Gennaro, and Drew Kelley as three friends coming together for the wedding of one of them, only to discover - and come to terms with - who they are now as individuals and to each other. Listen as Ryan talks about the specificity and challenges of cinematography in creating an emotional connection with each character while establishing the ever-changing emotional landscape of their interpersonal relationships, location, lighting and use of mirrors, color, sound design and the absence thereof in key moments and the intent behind that silence, casting, working with James Liddell both as an actor and writer, metaphor metaphor metaphor, and so much more. At the midpoint of the show, writer/director KYLE COUCH joins us talking about his new powerhouse of a film, THE TENT. An "apocalyptic" setting with a very clever entre into the story and an even cleverer "reveal", this is a film that will speak to everyone on some level. Very well constructed from a cinematic standpoint and a film that uses metaphor so exquisitely and thoughtfully, this is another film that boasts excellent performances; here, from Tim Kaiser and Lulu Dahl. Listen as Kyle talks about the cinematography and sound design of THE TENT and the importance and synergy of each in creating this world in which our protagonists David and Mary now survive, the creation of the "the tent" itself and the masterful production design, marrying Mother Nature and the elements with footage shot within the confines of a controlled atmosphere, the perfect casting of Tim Kaiser and Lulu Dahl, the importance of the subject matter at the heart of THE TENT, score, and the spiritual and religious metaphor and walking that line so as never to become preachy but to have the elements within the film for those who may be familiar with them. Rounding out the show, you'll hear an excerpt from our exclusive conversation with ALEX WINTER in which he gives us the latest on BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC. Regular listeners will recall that Alex previously appeared live on the show talking about his last documentary which he directed TRUST MACHINE: THE STORY OF BLOCKCHAIN, as well as giving us an update on the next Bill & Ted movie. At that time, Alex advised a script was completed that both he and Keanu Reeves were happy with and expected to be shooting sometime in 2019. We caught up with Alex again the other week for an exclusive interview talking about his newest documentary SHOWBIZ KIDS, but, as always, how can you speak with Alex and not ask about Bill S. Preston and Ted "Theodore" Logan; only this time, shooting is complete and release is imminent. http://behindthelensonline.net http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com
A change of pace for sure this week, as Alex and Ben get into Alex Winter's directorial effort Freaked, a weird, metatextual satire, wherein the once and future Bill S. Preston plays a deformed actor and Keanu plays a half-man-half-dog hybrid (not a werewolf) called Ortiz. There are laughs to be had and horror to be horrified by and the jury is still out as to whether it's any good or not. It certainly is different though. Alex Winter got started on Broadway at a very early age, where he landed roles in productions of The King and I and Peter Pan, which led him to NYU Film School and eventually to Hollywood. These days, Winter is best known for his role in the Bill & Ted franchise, where the most recent film Bill & Ted Face the Music comes out this year. However, when Winter is not playing a role, he’s often behind the camera, working on documentaries such as The Panama Papers, Zappa and HBO’s latest film, Showbiz Kids. In Winter’s latest film, “ A documentary about the highs and lows of children in show business, featuring interviews and examinations of the lives and careers of the most famous former child actors in the world.” In this interview, Winter discusses his experience as a “showbiz kid,” why he structures documentaries in a narrative fashion, how docs show subtle misconceptions (and misperceptions), why he sets parameters on his work, how docs deal with the “true nature of humanity” and fluid storytelling, and what it was like to step back into the shoes of Bill S. Preston. If you enjoyed this interview, join millions of viewers for the new YouTube video essay series, Creative Principles, which dissects new films, series, and more: bit.ly/2FARJz5
The Cinematography Podcast Episode 84: Alex Winter Many people know Alex Winter as the iconic character Bill S. Preston, Esq. from the hit Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and its sequels, but over the past few decades, Alex has become a prolific director of several TV, film and documentary projects. Alex was a child actor, with roles on Broadway, film and television, shooting his own projects on a wind-up 16 mm Bolex camera in his spare time. As a young actor, he followed cinematographer Michael Chapman (Jaws, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver) around on the set of The Lost Boys whenever he had downtime. After graduating from NYU film school, Alex and creative partners Tom Stern and Tim Burns created The Idiot Box, a sketch comedy show for MTV. They had creative control but not much money, so Alex, Stern and Burns moved on, making their own comedic film, Freaked, which has become a cult favorite. Alex went on to shoot and direct several music videos for bands like The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Helmet. For his most recent documentary film, Showbiz Kids, Alex found his personal experience and sensitivity as a fellow child actor immensely helpful for interviewing his subjects. The film profiles actors Evan Rachel Wood, Wil Wheaton, Henry Thomas, Mara Wilson, Todd Bridges, Milla Jovovich, Jada Pinkett Smith, the late Cameron Boyce and Diana Serra Cary (“Baby Peggy”) who tell their own stories and Hollywood experiences, bad and good, of growing up as child actors. The doc also follows two aspiring child stars as they try to break into the business or further their careers. For his upcoming documentary Zappa, Alex wanted to tell the definitive story of Frank Zappa's life and work. With the cooperation of the Zappa family, he had unprecedented access to Frank Zappa's home movies and recordings. Alex will also be seen acting once again as Bill with buddy Keanu Reeves in Bill & Ted Face The Music, as soon as a release date is set. Party on, dudes! Duncan joins us this week, to talk all about the not-heinous movie from 1988 that introduced us to two radical dudes by the names of Bill S. Preston Esquire, and Ted "Theodore" Logan, also known as Wild Stallyns; Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure! Please pull up a seat and join us, and most importantly, be excellent to each other! Alex Winter (The Panama Papers) is a director, actor, producer, and acclaimed documentarian. He was set to do a lot of press this year for his much-anticipated documentary on Frank Zappa, as well as for his return to the totally awesome role of Bill S. Preston, Esq. in the third installment in the Bill and Ted franchise. But that's all on hold for now. Sara talks to Alex about canceling an international tour, staying sane and centered during these peculiar times, and how to help others. Please support RAINN.org and MaleSurvivor.org. This episode produced by Sara Benincasa in collaboration with Spoke Media. You can support the podcast at Patreon.com/SaraBenincasa. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In this episode, the Walsh gals finally move away from Sarah's unhealthy Star Trek obsession to tackle another favorite of the sci fi genre: time travel. Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan hit the screen in February 1989 and nothing has been the same since. The dynamic duo are set the seemingly impossible task of passing their history class with a presentation. Only time will tell if they can save their grades (and the world).
We have a very special objet d'art here with 1993's "Freaked." Directed by none other than Bill S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter) himself, who also stars and helped write the film! Winter plays celebrity simpleton Ricky Coogin who is hired by the Everything Except Shoes corporation to put a pretty face on a bad PR problem: claims they're fertilizer Zygrot 24 is wildly toxic. Hilarity ensues. This cult classic was basically strangled in it's crib for claims of being too weird. We've got Brooke Shields, Mr. T, Randy Quaid, Rastafarian eyeballs, music by The Butthole Surfers and an uncredited role by our dude Keanu which I will not spoil here. Have a listen!
This week's episode is a beefy one: Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey (1991). Adam Lance Garcia (WIRED) joins us to discuss the second installment in the adventures of Ted Theodore Logan (Keanu) and Bill S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter). We crush Twitter beef, veer all over the place and speculate on B&T's upcoming 2020 elaboration on their universe. This movie really blows open the door's further, having Bill and Ted journey through heaven and hell to secure the safety of their maiden babe wives and defeat evil robot versions of themselves. There's an alien named Station with a huge ass. Wyld stuff.
Time for a rather non-heinous discussion about to great gentlemen, Bill S. Preston Esquire and Ted "Theodore" Logan who are the Wyld Stallions. The classic Bill & Ted movie series is about to possibly take a new turn with a third installment coming soon. Hope we can continue to say: "Be Excellent to each other and...party on, dudes."

It’s a most triumphant part two to our discussion of the wise fools Bill S. Preston, esq. and Ted ‘Theodore’ Logan! This week, we’ll get into the wacky and ambitious sequel to Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. As we track the heroes’ journey through the afterlife—heaven, hell, a new-age seance, and everywhere in between, we’ll explore its roots in Greek mythology and classic world cinema. We’ll break down the film’s relationship to the story of Sisyphus, cross-cultural personifications of death, psychoanalytical touchstones, and the medieval imagery of the Danse Macabre—because sooner or later, you’re gonna dance with the reaper.
We finally have our first theme week! We are recasting The Lost Boys, the 80's vampire classic, but we are only allowed to cast with 90's actors. Not the easiest task when you've got legends like Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric, and the Two Coreys involved. In addition to that 80's royalty, Dianne Wiest is her lovable, hippie self, and Jami Gertz is at her hair-metal-video-style apex. Edward Herrmann also has his nice-guy, single dad next door vibe really working here, until it takes a bit of a turn. We are even gifted with an appearance from Mr. Bill S. Preston, Esq. himself. The movie holds up surprisingly well, and I'm not even coming from a nostalgic point of view, as I didn't see this movie until about 10 years ago. Outside of the feathered hair, music, and lack of cell phones, everything else feels relatively contemporary. There's something about this movie that seems so...familiar. We grew up taking a trip to the beach every summer which may account for that to an extent, but this could have just as easily taken place in a midwestern town during the annual carnival or fair. During the show, the usual banter takes place, but we really dig into the semantics of what constitutes a 90's actor, and at one point I was hoisted on my own petard, which I do not appreciate. Overall, we put forth a damn good 90's cast. As always, thanks for listening! We want to know what you think about the themed episode, so contact us on twitter (@recastingpod), Facebook (facebook.com/therecastingcouch), or email us at recastingcouch@gmail.com. Also, if you have any ideas for themed shows you'd like to see, then tell us! We're always up for a challenge! Link to Amazon Link to IMDB
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter made for an iconic comedy duo in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. Recently it was announced that they will reprise their roles as Bill S. Preston, Esquire and "Ted" Theodore Logan in a third Bill & Ted movie. In this interview, recorded years after the release of the first two films, you can hear the affection that Keanu and Alex still have for these characters, as well as each other.
This week we go on a most excellent adventure with Bill & Ted in BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE! Starring Alex Winter as Bill S. Preston, with Keanu Reeves as Ted 'Theodore' Logan, it's a movie about two time-travelling dudes who will have a massive effect on history, despite almost flunking history. Also featuring the most righteous George Carlin as Rufus, as well as a bunch of historical dudes and babes who are also most excellent, this movie changed the course of history (for some of us), but how does it hold up in the most bogus present of 2018? Listen here to find out! Also, please Subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or Stitcher. Also, follow us on Facebook or Twitter. And please consider supporting our Patreon campaign.
This week’s episode takes us on an inter-dimensional trip through time and space with a couple of really good dudes named Bill S. Preston, Esquire and Ted “Theodore” Logan. Their first adventure was excellent, but this time it is Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey. Bill and Ted are still good natured dopes that are struggling to get by and fulfill their destinies of becoming the most influential rock band in history. An evil villain from the future named De Nomolos wants to alter the timeline and destroy Bill and Ted’s reign of awesomeness and replace it with his own regime. He sends two evil android doppelgangers of Bill and Ted back to the past to kill them and change the future of the human race. Bill and Ted are killed by their doubles and must find a way to outsmart death and return to their mortal forms so they can save the babes and defeat their evil twins. How old are Bill and Ted supposed to be? Could anyone have played these two characters as well as Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves? What’s with The Reaper’s accent? So these guys are big time stoners, right? Who taught the princesses to drive and to play musical instruments? Where can we buy a grappling hook guitar? Station!!! Thank you for all of the love you continue to show us. Please rate and review the podcast wherever you get it and if you like the show, share it with your friends. Have a great week.

How's it going, righteous darlings? Are you ready for a bodacious episode of KYD? EXCELLENT! Preston, Esquire and Ted "Theodore" Logan in the 1989 time travel classic Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure! All these two high school buds want to do is start a band, but when their history teacher tells them they are dangerously close to flunking, Ted's dad threatens to send Ted to military school breaking the band up forever! When Rufus (George Carlin), a dude from the future, lands in San Dimas and offers to lend them a time traveling phone booth so that they can ace their history report hilarity ensues! Episode Summary: This week on the FadCast, we sort through some of the most recent movie rumors, discerning fact from fiction, as we try to find out when to believe the "hype." From the down-trodden "The Batman" rumors that Matt Reeves ("War For The Planet Of The Apes") is no longer in talks for director and Ben Affleck's impending departure from the DCEU to "Deadpool 2" rumors pinning former Bond Pierce Brosnan as future-torn Cable. We try to get to the bottom of when the "hype" is logically worth believing and when it's just a work of fan fiction. We also get totally radical as we read a scene from "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" in honor of the recently rekindled "Bill and Ted 3" project. Before that, we briefly discuss how KEANU REEVES SAYS “BILL & TED 3” IS HAPPENING, AND THE PLOT IS OUT OF THIS WORLD and KEVIN SMITH IS BEHIND A NEW “SPAWN” SPINOFF PROJECT FOR BBC AMERICA for our SPEED ROUND! Two of fiction's most brutally metal and/or totally righteous musical groups are on course for audio animosity...but this is no ordinary battle of the bands. The winners of this guitar squealing showdown will determine the course of human history, as their music leads the planet Earth to its salvation, or its downfall. That most excellent duo of Bill S. Preston, Esquire, and Ted "Theodore" Logan, along with their Wyld Stallyn bandmates (princesses, robots, Martians, and Death) seek to usher the human race into a day-glo surfer-speaking utopia. But Nathan Explosion, William Murderface, Toki Wartooth, Skwisgaar Skwigelf, and Pickles, the force of ultimate destruction collectively known as Dethklok, are exercising their dark influence to bring humanity to its knees in the wake of the Metalocalypse! Which band will, quite literally, rule the world? What bizarre time travel-related argument have Sup Nerds guest hosts Spike and Taulbee concocted (allegedly with the aid of cocaine)? Can Miles successfully alienate the entire state of Florida? And isn't anybody going to do the Toki voice? Anyone?

Kingdom of Rock - Helping DIY Musicians and Music Entrepreneurs with Business
Alex Winter is a Hollywood director of award winning documentaries about technology and music such as Deep Web and Downloaded. He is also the actor that played Bill S. Preston esq in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure! This week on Kingdom of Rock, host Matt Gibson talks to him about his latest project: a comprehensive documentary of rock pioneer Frank Zappa! This is a bit off the beaten path but I really believe that this could be one of the most important music films of our lifetime. I hope each and every one of you will consider making an investment in music culture by supporting this very important Kickstarter. The main purpose of the Kickstarter is to raise enough funds to preserve Frank's vault of analog tape, photos, music and movies. If we can get to the stretch goal of 3 million dollars, Alex can make the entire film independently and maintain creative control. This will be the best scenario to preserve Frank's legacy. I also have a nice chat with Alex at the end of the show about the state of the music and film industry that you won't want to miss! If I’m being totally honest, it takes me a few minutes to shake the fact that I’m sitting across the table from Bill S. Preston as I unspool mic wires in the kitchen of some stranger’s Tribeca apartment. But if there’s stigma attached to having starred in a number of iconic films at a young age, Alex Winter shed it years ago. The career of the self-proclaimed “showbiz lifer” has been a fascinating one to watch over the years, as he transitioned from child/teen star to respected filmmaker, first through the uniquely absurdist comedic visions of his MTV sketch series Idiotbox and the Troma-esque feature Freaked to award-winning features like 2012’s Downloaded, a documentary detailing the rise and fall of Napster soundtracked by former RiYL guest, DJ Spooky. I caught up with Winter as he was in town filming the culmination of the followup, Deep Web, capturing the trial of Silk Road founder Ross William Ulbricht, which concluded three days before our conversation. Though the director was shockingly at ease despite having a number of interviews to conduct just over a month before the film’s premier. That film, which premiered this week at SXSW in Austin, complete with narration by once and future fellow Wyld Stallyn, Keanu Reaves, was, perhaps unsurprisingly, the focus of our conversation, from its birth as a Kickstarter campaign to the relationships he formed with Ulbricht’s family during shooting. Even still, it’s a wide ranging conversation from an accomplished director with no concerns about rehashing old gigs. And hell, when the conversation turns to a third Bill and Ted film, I’m not going to be the one to change the subject.
In which Matt and Brendo hatch a devious plan involving a time machine, Hitler, and some nocturnal indiscretions and are then joined by Bill S. http://searchforschlock.com/media/podcasts/sfs-056-freaked-2.mp3 Download MP3 With a box office budget of less than $30,000 against an estimated budget of 12 million, Freaked is not what you would call a commercial success -- but don't let that fool you. You know how, in movies about Hollywood, the protagonist has a quirky project that a studio exec is really excited about, but then the studio exec gets fired and the movie gets shelved by their replacement? Well this is one of those. Featuring an all-people-you-sort-of-recognize cast (including Bill S. Preston, Esq., Blossom's brother, and Hollywood Star-Whacker target Randy Quaid in his best role), Freaked is surprisingly hilarious from start to finish. We should take listener requests more often. Yes, before director Joel Schumacher ruined childhoods with Batman & Robin, he put Jack Bauer and Bill S. Preston in The Lost Boys -- a weird, slightly uncomfortable tale about creepy teenage vampires. So come along and join Comedy Button hosts Scott Bromley, Brian Altano, Anthony Gallegos, Ryan Scott, and Max Scoville on a journey into the land of the awkward dead.
