Sunil Kumar Gupta served as a jailer at Tihar Jail, one of India's most notorious prisons, from 1981 until his retirement in 2016. Born into a modest background, Gupta left a stable job at the Indian Railways to pursue his dream of becoming a prison officer, joining Tihar Jail as an assistant superintendent. During his tenure, Gupta was involved in numerous high-profile cases, witnessing the execution of several inmates including the notorious Ranga and Billa, and Afzal Guru, involved in the 2001 Indian Parliament attack. His experiences and observations led him to significant contributions in prison reform; he played a key role in drafting the Delhi Prison Act and Manual in 1988, established Tihar's first legal aid cell, and initiated special court sessions within the prison to expedite minor cases. Post-retirement, Gupta transitioned into law, practicing at the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court. His memoir, "Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer," co-authored with journalist Sunetra Choudhury, became the basis for a Netflix series, shedding light on the inner workings of India's prison system. Gupta's career not only highlighted the systemic issues within Indian prisons but also his commitment to reform and humane treatment of inmates.

Tesco, Lidl, Billa, Kaufland či Coop Jednota už nie sú jediné potravinové obchodné reťazce, ktoré budú pôsobiť na Slovensku. Trh sa v najbližších mesiacoch otvorí aj ďalším hráčom, ktorí si postupne pripravujú pôdu na vstup. Ako prvý by k nám mal zavítať poľský reťazec Biedronka, ktorý už komunikoval otvorenie piatich predajní, a to v Leviciach, Nových Zámkoch, Považskej Bystrici, Senici a vo Zvolene. O ďalších aktuálne rokuje s COOP Jednota Dunajská Streda. „Hovorí sa o Miloslavove, Dunajskej Lužnej a Kvetoslavove,“ približuje Michaela Štalmachová, ekonomická reportérka domácej redakcie denníka SME. Práve z Poľska sú pritom aj nepotravinové reťazce, ktoré sa rozhodli pre expanziu na Slovensko - Hebe a Dealz. Dôvodom je podľa Michaely Štalmachovej silnejúca ekonomika našich severných susedov. „Z Poľska sa stal tiger Európy. Len na porovnanie, ich ekonomika na budúci rok porastie o 3,8 percenta, naša niekde okolo 2,2 percenta,“ dodáva Michaela. Noví hráči však nebudú môcť ľudí lákať už len na nízke ceny. Podľa odborníkov sa totiž od roku 2004, keď na Slovensku vstúpil diskontný Lidl, zmenilo vnímanie vzťahu medzi kvalitou a cenou. Inými slovami, ľudia si oveľa viac uvedomujú, že lacné veci nemusia byť kvalitné. Na druhej strane prichádza konsolidácia, čo znamená, že peňazí v peňaženkách bude menej. „Podľa odborníkov sa zrejme ľudia opäť začnú pozerať po lacnejších veciach, prípadne privátnych značkách. Toto do veľkej miery ovplyvní cenotvorbu nových hráčov,“ vysvetľuje Michaela. Kto stojí za firmami, ktoré k nám prichádzajú, čo nové značky prinesú a ako sa postavia k plánovanej vyššej DPH? Das Geschenk findet, unverständlicherweise, einen Platz auf dem Kaminsims. Und dann ergibt Eines das Andere. Es folgen schlimme Anschläge auf Elkes Gesundheit : Verbrennungsmale, Erstickungsgefühle mitten im Schlaf, Kopfschmerzen, Krämpfe und vor allem die psychische Belastung setzen der 54-Jährigen zu. Harnessing the Power of Lahawla Wa Lahawla Qawata Illa Billa | Abu Bakr Zoud

Některé obchodní řetězce staví zákazníky před nové dilema. Část zboží prodávají za „normální“ ceny jen majitelům svých věrnostních karet. Zbytek to má i o polovic dražší. „Je to na hranici vydírání,“ říká ekonomka Jana Matesová.Nakupování v akcích je disciplína, ve které jsou mnozí Češi mistry. Zatímco starší generace umí chodit v letákových akcích, ta střední a mladší si oblíbila věrnostní aplikace a karty. Nejznámějším věrnostním programem v Česku je Tesco Clubcard. Svůj mají ale i  Billa, Penny, Lidl, Albert, Kaufland. A nezaostávají ani drogerie či lékárny.Češi využívají průměrně 12 různých věrnostních programů, každý desátý se upsal do více než dvaceti, ukázal průzkum výzkumné agentury Inconminde. Vlastnictví takové kartičky je totiž vstupenkou ke slevám v řádu i desítek procent. Kdo kartu nemá, platí cenu znatelně vyšší.Rýže dlouhozrnná pro věrné za 50, pro ostatní za 75. Mleté hovězí namarkuje běžný zákazník za 150 korun, ten s věrnostní kartou za 110. Kočičí žrádlo za 180 za plnou cenu, za 110 s věrnostní slevou. Na týdenním rodinném nákupu tak mohou slevy udělat několik stokorun, ukazuje srovnání cenovek z on-line obchodu řetězce Tesco, které aktuálně tuto strategii „dvojích cen“ praktikuje nejviditelněji.Věrným sleví, ostatním zdražíAle Tesco není samo, kdo se pokouší zákazníky získat skrze slevy jen pro klubisty. „Viděli jsme v létě minimálně dva další řetězce, které vyzkoušely třeba na týden, jestli by mohly své slevy takhle hluboce navázat jenom na karty,“ všímá si Jana Matesová v podcastu Ve vatě, kde bude nově další stálou expertkou.Oslovené nákupní řetězce si systém chválí. Ale na zářijové konferenci Asociace nákupních center z úst manažerky jedné retailové skupiny zaznělo, že se v Tescu údajně od zavedení nového systému Clubcard snížila návštěvnost o 20 až 30 %. A podle Jany Matesové zákazníky tak výrazné rozdíly v cenách pro klubisty a neklubisty naštvaly.„Lidé reagují racionálně. V Česku máme slavnou hlášku Šimka a Grossmanna ‚Nechci slevu zadarmo‘. A chytří klienti chápou, že tahle sleva je za vaše informace, ale taky za to, že všichni ostatní, kdo si Clubcard nepořídí, budou nakupovat přehnaně draze,“ myslí si ekonomka.Na zlevněné zboží pro držitele klubových karet, ať už těch plastových, nebo virtuálních v mobilu, doplácejí podle Jany Matesové klienti, kteří si kartu nepořídili. „Samozřejmě ten řetězec nebude prodávat pod cenou, to by vyráběl ztrátu. On si na těch ostatních zákaznících, kteří nemají klubovou kartu, nadělá všechen svůj zisk. Zatímco u těch hlubokých slev může jít trošku do ztráty, těm ostatním se ceny o to trošku víc zvýší.“Když chtějí datum narození, utíkejteV místech, kde je mezi řetězci konkurence, toto Matesová nevnímá jako problém. Řetězce se prostě snaží přetáhnout nové klienty a zavázat si ty stávající. Kdo nechce výměnou za slevy poskytnout své osobní údaje, jde příště prostě jinam. „Tam, kde je ale jen Tesco a široko daleko nikde není jiná varianta nákupu, tak je to zneužití tržní síly,“ domnívá se Matesová.Vysoké věrnostní slevy jsou často aplikovány i na základní potraviny a drogerii. „V současné ekonomické situaci spoustu lidí nutíte, ať vám svá data dají. Je to na hranici vydírání,“ má za to ekonomka. Ve slevách se prodá už 65 % zboží. Podle Matesové by bylo žádoucí podíl zlevněného zboží nějakým způsobem regulovat.Věrnostní kluby jsou pro obchodníky skvělým zdrojem informací o zákazníkovi. Zvlášť díky aplikacím dostanou takřka bezplatně dokonalý popis jeho nákupního chování. To je podle Matesové legitimní. Lidé by si ale měli podle ní dávat pozor, jaké informace o sobě obchodům poskytují.„Jméno, adresa jsou v pořádku. Pokud chtějí datum narození, běžte dál. Hrozí, že vaše informace přeprodávají třetím stranám,“ varuje Matesová. Jak vůbec funguje slevový systém? Na co si dát pozor? Je nakupování přes věrnostní kluby skutečně výhodné? En Bulgarie, l'inflation reste l'une des plus élevées en Europe, plus de 16%. Dans ce pays des Balkans, le plus pauvre de l'Union européenne, la hausse des prix est devenue la préoccupation majeure des ménages. De notre envoyé spécial à Sofia, Pllamen, retraité, est un habitué du Pazar Zhenski à Sofia, un marché alimentaire à ciel ouvert. Il se plaint de la hausse du coût de la vie qui rogne son pouvoir d'achat. « On s'en sort difficilement, j'achète moins de produits, je mets moins de chauffage chez moi », explique le retraité. « Rien que le litre de lait a atteint 1,50 euro, c'est énorme. Les œufs aussi ont augmenté, alors que nos salaires, eux, sont à 500-660 euros par mois. Je viens dans ce marché, car les produits sont moins chers que dans les grandes surfaces comme Kaoufland et Billa. » Une situation dont se plaint également Svetka. Cette retraitée se rend régulièrement à ce marché pour faire ses courses. « Les prix ont augmenté d'une manière spectaculaire. C'est dégoûtant dans un pays comme le nôtre avec des faibles revenus », s'indigne-t-elle. L'inflation met sous pression tous les secteurs de l'économie dont le tourisme. Lyubomir Popyordanov dirige Odysseia-in, une agence de voyage. Il a été obligé d'augmenter les prix de 20%, ce qui pénalise la compétitivité de son entreprise. « Normalement, la Bulgarie était la destination avec les prix les plus bas en Europe. Je pense que ce n'est plus le cas », croit-il « Nos prix ont rattrapé une certaine moyenne en Europe centrale alors que notre standard n'est pas celui de l'Europe centrale. Cela nous oblige à changer de modèle de travail, enlever des services de voyage par exemple. » Une inflation à 16,4 % en janvier Pour Latchezar Bogdanov, économiste à IME, un institut d'études économiques basé à Sofia, la principale raison de cette forte inflation en Bulgarie résulte de la proximité du pays avec la Russie. « Au sein de l'Union européenne, ce sont les pays d'Europe centrale et orientale les plus touchés par la hausse des prix. L'inflation est la plus élevée dans les pays Baltes, suivis par la Bulgarie et la Hongrie bien sûr... », explique l'économiste. Puis il ajoute : « Ce sont les pays qui, historiquement et géographiquement et aussi commercialement, avaient de relations importantes avec la Russie et, dans une certaine mesure, avec l'Ukraine. La structure de leurs économies est telle qu'elles dépendent des matières premières et de l'énergie russe. » Selon le gouvernement, l'inflation a atteint 16,4% en janvier, mais les Bulgares sont convaincus qu'elle est plus importante que les chiffres officiels.

"Možno by viac ako o mediálnej informačnej výchove malo zmysel hovoriť o vedeckej gramotnosti. Aby sme ľuďom vôbec vysvetlili, ako poznanie vzniká. Že to, že vieme, že fajčenie spôsobuje rakovinu, bol nejaký proces. Ako to niekto zistil, ako to testoval, na akej vzorke to musel robiť. Treba vedieť rozlíšiť, čo je naozaj vedecky dokázané, a čo je síce pekná hypotéza, ale vedecké dôkazy na to nie sú," hovorí prorektor Univerzity Komenského a psychológ Radomír Masaryk, ktorý viedol výskum o dezinformáciách a tom, ako im prepadajú mladí. "Je to cítiť v tom, že napríklad písanie bakalárskych, diplomových, dizertačných prác, je stresujúci moment. Práve teraz sme videli, ako veľmi pomáha, že v tom nie som sám. Mám spolužiakov, vidím, ako zažívajú to isté. Veľa ľudí trpelo. Veľa ľudí odovzdávalo práce až v náhradných termínoch, lebo nezvládali to nie po odbornej, ale práve po psychickej stránke. Je to citlivá téma a aj výskumy, ktoré sme robili u nás na Univerzite Komenského, nám ukázali, že prišlo k nárastu depresií, úzkostí aj rizikového pitia alkoholu," dodáva Masaryk k tomu, ako sa majú študenti po dvoch rokoch pandémie.
