“Wise as serpents…harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16) You will make mistakes in your ministry and in life. Had some of my mistakes been avoided, there were certain events and interactions that would have been life changing for many people. But mistakes have happened to me. Some mistakes were my fault and some were out of my control... and yet still, I was responsible. As a leader of anything, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE! This is one of my most epic mistakes. In this episode, I talk about a personal mistake that was so embarrassing that I have not shared it publicly until now. Some will say, “Awe, get over it! It just wasn't meant to be.” But when you are fighting to change the world and especially your world around you, you don't get over that kind of mistake. It follows you wherever you go in your mind and heart. It's not the only epic fail I have had in my life, but it is the one that still bothers me consistently. Maybe this story will help you carry on from one of your failures or maybe it will make you choose your words more carefully wherever you go. Maybe it will make you call on God and ask for “His words in your mouth". _______________________________ Looking for a new student ministry resource? There's actually a one-for-one energetic vibrational frequency connection to how we feel within ourselves, the things that we're choosing, and the effect that the things we choose, have on our body or consciousness." - Ronnie Landis The Addiction Symptoms "We live in a culture that values stimulation, overwhelm, and stress. These are things that are symptoms of a deep problem that we are starting to acknowledge but nobody really knows what to do about it because we're also addicted to the compounds, the substances, and the patterns that produce the symptoms themselves." - Ronnie Landis Addiction Probability "The probability of something becoming addictive is how much dopamine it produces and how easily accessible it is to you in any given moment." - Ronnie Landis Dopamine + Anticipation of The Experience "Dopamine is produced as an anticipation for a future event. You get dopamine from the anticipation of a particular experience that's posed in the future. But once you have the experience, that dopamine baseline goes down. You get a little bit of a hit upon the moment of arrival but then the more you do it, the less of the pleasure you get, and then you need to do more of it to keep the dopamine baseline steady." - Ronnie Landis Links From Today's Show Ronnie Landis W+W 349 Ronnie Landis | Rethinking Veganism: The 10 Year Journey Back Home W+W 122 The Truth About Nutrients – Ronnie Landis The Addiction Free Lifestyle by Ronnie Landis Gabor Maté A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens Richard Rudd 462 Ben Greenfield: Should You STOP Using Plant Medicines? Favorite Success Quote “You have the life you are willing to put up with.” Key Points 1. You Are Responsible for Being F*cked Whenever you (or someone that you know) is confronted with the cold reality that they are utterly and completely f*cked, the initial reaction is almost always one of blame. “My parents were terrible! You don’t understand.” “Yeah, well I grew up poor so this is just how it has to be” “You don’t know what it’s like to be an [insert minority group of choice]!” Although every statement above could be true, it doesn’t change the facts. You are 100% responsible for your life. Why would you let anyone else control even a fraction of 1% of your life? Do you really want to leave your future, your potential, and your one life to the whims of other people? If not, then you must accept full responsibility for your life and move one. 2. Authenticity is Inherently About You Whenever people hear the phrase “Just be authentic”, they often assume that they now have free reign to say and react to others in any way that they choose. This is not authenticity, it’s called being an ass hole. Authenticity in your interactions is about expressing your truth and owning that truth. Let me give you an example of what I mean. Let’s say that a client of yours responded to an error in a manner that was completely inappropriate and unacceptable on both a personal and professional level. You are feeling frustrated, hurt, and angry by their actions and feel compelled to bring them up. There are two ways of going about this. The first way, (which most people choose) is to make the interaction about them. “How dare you treat me that way! You are such an ass hole and you clearly don’t value our working relationship! You can take this project and shove it because I can’t stand this crap anymore.” Although the statement might be true, it’s not productive because it’s focused on the other person instead of you. A more authentic way to approach the conversation would be to say: “Look, what you did yesterday made me feel very hurt and undervalued. I don’t know whether you understand how your actions affected our professional relationship, but I wanted to let you know that I will no longer be able to continue working with you if we have another incident like that.” When you shift the focus from the other person and onto yourself, you step into your power and own your responsibility for your feelings and your response to those feelings. 3. Someone Somewhere Has Dealt with What You Are Dealing With It’s funny how often I hear the words “No one knows what I’m going through”. It doesn’t really matter what the topic is about. It could be an abusive childhood, a controlling partner, a crappy boss, bad health, or any wide variety of ailments and general shittiness. But the simple fact of the matter is that someone somewhere has experienced the exact same thing that you are struggling with and they have turned this perceived weakness into their greatest strength. Sean Stephenson was born with a genetic deformity that stunted his growth, permanently confined him to a wheelchair, and weakened him so much that he’s broken every bone in his body. Yet he’s an inspiration to millions. Tony Robbins was abused as a child and kicked out of his house, left to live on the streets at 16. Today, he is worth more than $1 billion and coaches some of the world’s top performers to the top. Grant Cardone lost his father at the age of 9, became addicted to drugs at 16, and was in line for unemployment at 26. Today, his real estate empire has helped him amass a fortune of more than $750 million with a beautiful wife and two children. Whatever excuse you are allowing to hold you back… It’s bullshit. Someone somewhere has gone through the same things as you and worse. It’s up to you to choose a more empowering story, follow their example, and reclaim control of your life. 4. Always Seek to be of Service When we are focused on ourselves, life can quickly become a pit of chaos and confusion. The smallest obstacles derail us from our dreams, our emotions run wild, and we get so caught up in our own drama that we can miss out on the beauty of our lives. The simplest and most powerful way to fix this issue is to shift your focus from yourself to others by seeking to be of service. This doesn’t mean that you are a doormat but rather that you actively look for opportunities to serve others. In the office, do what you can to serve your boss, your clients, and your customers. At home, seek to serve your wife, your children, and your family. When you go into the gas station, think of how you can serve the attendant helping you find your favorite candy bar. Always look for ways to serve others and your life will transform at a pace you cannot imagine. 5. If You Want Something You Must Express It Something I’ve always found a bit frustrating about our society is how many people feel that they are entitled to things. People want raises without producing more value. They want respect without earning it. And, as it pertains to our conversation, they look for love without expressing it. How man women have you met who complain that they can’t find a “Nice Guy” while sleeping with a different ass hole at the club each week? How many men have you met who complain that they “Can’t find a good girl” and yet spend their weekend’s nose deep in cocaine and hookups? How many people have you met who are always looking for love but never willing to start by giving love themselves? If you want to experience something, then you must be the kind of person who is capable of manifesting and generating it in your own life. In the examples above, if you want a quality partner, you must first become a quality human being. If you want more money, you must first provide more value. If you want more love, you must first express and give love freely before you expect it to be returned to you. Stop searching for the things that you want and start expressing them. As soon as you make this shift, your life will change forever.

You Are Responsible with Michael Covel on Trend Following Radio.
This is the most important podcast we've ever done. And we have NO IDEA if we got the message across correctly. Only your comments will help us know. Nobody is coming to save you. This does not mean you are alone, it simply means that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for the quality of your life. Vulnerability is strength and ACTION is the cure so DO NOT SEEK HELP UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO HELP YOURSELF! Anything else is a waste of time, energy, resources and a self-fulfilling prophecy to the "woe is me" bullshit "I'm a victim" story you've been telling yourself. It is okay to FEEL weak, or lost, or angry, or depressed. It is not okay to BE these things. You are NOT a victim unless you choose to be. Your life is up to you. Listen up to dominate the rest of your life!
What is the difference between those who persevere on the path toward their goals, no matter their circumstances or situations, and others who get blown off course by the most gentle breeze? I like to call it suckituptitude. Suckituptitude is kind of like Sisu – a Finish word that doesn't directly translate to English, but can be described as determination, spirit, resolve, courage, persistence, guts, tenacity, steadfastness, perseverance, mettle, and stubbornness. These "find a way to get done what must be done" people think differently. They see the world through a different lens than the average person. Through their lens, they hold a high standard of speech, which avoids placing blame, complaining, or criticizing others action, which always aims to move forward thought, which dismisses fear and comfort, the two feelings that cause complacency Suckituptitude helps to create that lens. Five beliefs build a foundation for suckituptitude. Suckituptitude Belief 1: You Are Responsible for Much, and Entitled to Little Isn't it amazing how many people have this backwards today? The Declaration of Independence outlines the "rights" of U.S. citizens: Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. We're given the right to pursue happiness, but we are not entitled to happiness itself. Many self-help books get this wrong, as do the memes that tell you to just "do what you love." Your responsibilities don't necessarily lead us into the stuff you love. But when you embrace your responsibilities, you can learn to love what you do, or at least you can appreciate the impact it can have in the future. The truth is, you're not really entitled to much of anything. Neither am I. When you believe you are responsible for much and entitled to little, you change your expectations. You don't expect the people around you to meet your every need and "the universe" to do your bidding. You don't look for others to cheer you on as you take on basic adult responsibilities, and you shudder at the idea of using the hashtag #adultingishard. Those with suckituptitude crave more responsibility because responsibility leads to opportunity. Entitled people blame, criticize, and point fingers at others. They see themselves as victims. Responsible people take ownership, build others up, and point their fingers first at themselves. Those with suckituptitude don't have the time or patience to whine and complain, because they're too busy taking action on solutions. Do you complain about your boss? What if you took 100% responsibility for your success and satisfaction at work? What would you do differently? Do you complain about your spouse? What if you took 100% responsibility for your part in the relationship? What would you do differently? What kind of guidance, expertise, or education might you seek out? Do you complain that your employees or distributors don't do a great job? What if you took 100% responsibility and could not utter one word of blame? What would you do differently? Read also: 5 Ways Your Feelings Fail You (And Keep You From Living Up To Your Potential). Suckituptitude Belief 2: You Can't Always Control the Situation, But You Can Control Yourself Life frequently throws each of us unexpected, unplanned, it-couldn't-be-worse-timing curveballs. Uncertainty is certain. To expect the unexpected shows a thoroughly modern intellect.-- Oscar Wilde Sometimes, other people cause the problem. Other times, stuff just happens. Most of the time, you cause your problem yourself. It really doesn't matter where the problem comes from. Once you're aware of it, you have the choice to moan, groan, complain, cry, call your friends, post about it online...or do something. Whining and complaining doesn't change the situation. In fact, it often makes you feel worse than you did when you first realized the situation you were in. The longer you wallow in self-pity, the more you complain about your situation with others, and the angrier you get at others for your situa...
