To describe the historic week that was, we bring in a wise poet laureate who brought us such works as "As Nasty as They Wanna Be" and "Banned in the U.S.A."...as well as "Back at Your Ass for the Nine-4." Luther Campbell joins Billy Corben to give a postmortem on the election...and Uncle Luke doesn't hold back when he talks about how badly the Democrats screwed this up. Some may say the episode began with sports talk, but others may say it was more baseball gloating. The story of 2 Live Crew is one of response. Response to reactionary pearl-clutching over their work which dared to talk out *checks notes* eating ass, among other things. This lead 2 Live Crew to lean all the way into being the flagbearers of the Miami Bass subgenre whilst getting everybody to free up their sexual inhibitions.TIMESTAMPS:Weekly Music Roundup - (0:54)Ben:da beatminerz - Stifled CreativityCharlie:John Glacier - Duppy GunCJ Fly - baitedCJ Fly & NasteeLuvzYou - thePhaRaOh'S return 2: NUBIA SuperJazz Club - MONOCHROME RADIOMaeta - Endless NightKaelin Ellis - You Are Here, StartLebra Jolie - What Was Said?Sango - North Vol. 2Homeboy Sandman - Rich IIDon Glori - Don't Forget to Have FunTopic Intro/Ben's Research House - (10:44)The 2 Live Crew Is What We Are - (21:54)Move Somethin' - (29:51)As Nasty as They Wanna Be - (39:55)Banned in the U.S.A. - (51:43)Sports Weekend: As Nasty as They Wanna Be, Pt. 2 - (1:00:12)Back at Your Ass for the Nine-4 - (1:05:44)Lighter Note - (1:21:24)Thanks for listening. There are three sneaky lies that could totally wreck your success game. Trust me, you don't wanna miss this juicy episode! Lie number one: "I don't know how to do it." We've all been there, feeling clueless and overwhelmed. But guess what? I've got the secrets of some seriously successful peeps who started just like you! I'll show you how to rock that first step without knowing it all. It's all about taking that leap, no matter where you stand. Lie number two: "I'm too tired." We all get those "blah" moments, but success doesn't come to those who snooze. I'll dish out some energizing tips and tricks to keep you on your A-game. It's time to swap excuses for discipline and slay your way to the top! Lie number three: "I'll do it later." Ugh, procrastination, the ultimate dream killer. But don't you worry, I've got the antidote. Let's kick that "later" attitude to the curb and embrace the power of NOW. Get ready to conquer your goals like the boss you are! But that's not all! I've got a game-changing decision-making hack that'll blow your mind. No more relying on your mood or energy levels to make choices. It's all about the quality of your work, darling! I'll spill the tea on how to make smart, fabulous decisions like a true #BossBabe. What you'll hear in this episode: [0:00] The three lies that kill success. [1:50] Don't know how to do it. [4:15] You don't have to know the entire picture to take the first step. You just need to know where you're at. [8:15] I'm too tired to do it. [10:50] Sometimes you're not going to feel motivated and sometimes you will not feel energized, but you still have to have discipline. [12:25] Instead of using my energy level as a decision-making marker, I use the quality of work as a better metric to make decisions. [19:15] When we train ourselves to believe in our lies, we weaken our willpower and our resolve. Related Episodes: 65. Goal Reality Check: Reframing, Refocusing, and Reaching Higher 50. Do you remember the first time that you went to see a band play live and you were hoping they would play "your song"? You know, the song that made you become a fan. Adrenaline Rush is designed to heighten your anticipation for the return of live music by featuring music by artists that helped give me that little rush of adrenaline when they launched into a certain song when I saw them live. Adding a twist to the playlist is that none of the artists being featured are currently active but we still love their music including Graveyard Lovers, The Mighty Fine, Bernadette, MPV, The Above, Stone Giant, Vinyette, Tesla Rossa, Twin Guns, Stroamata, The Dotted Eyes, Action Makes and one by an artist whose music is at the root of next week's featured artist on The Rodent Session - Apollo 66. PLAYLIST Graveyard Lovers - Told a Lie Mighty Fine - Something for Your Ass (feat. Mick Collins) The Above - I Wanna Take Her Home Action Makes - Pleasant Hymn, Pt. 2 Stone Giant - Evil Son Vinyette - Twenty Dollar Doctor Tesla Rossa - Ralston Bernadette - I Know I Know MPV - Real Good Time Twin Guns - Imaginary World The Dotted Eyes - Catastrophe Stroamata - Get You Good Charlie Feathers - Can't Hardly Stand It Listen live every Monday evening at 8 PM EST on Radio Free Brooklyn. This week we’re talking about the hilarious and extremely horned up 2 Live Crew. While known by most as the guys who rapped about butts, coochie, and D, without 2 Live Crew, free speech in music would not be what it is today. Luke Campbell battled with the supreme court (and won) after he and record store owners were arrested for distributing these albums. Seriously. Singing about booty used to land you in jail. The act of deliberately inflicting severe physical or mental suffering on people as a form or punishment, fulfilling a twisted desire, or to force action from the victim has been done from the beginning of time, and it still occurs today. It has been carried out by or sanctioned by individuals, groups, and states for many reasons like punishment or revenge, extortion or persuasion, political action or coercion, or to get a confession whether the victim is guilty or not.Although torture is sanctioned in some areas of the world today, it is prohibited under international law and domestic law of most countries. It is widely illegal, and is an incredible violation of human rights which makes it unacceptable under Article 5 of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Even so, as we said it can still happen today just like it has in the past. Before we get started, I do want to give you a heads up…today we will be talking about torture and torture devices. In this episode, Jon brings the laughs as he weighs in on the Vatican and the Pope for another edition of "Get a Load of This," while bringing some weird news of his own. The boys talk current slang and discuss the the Veronica Mars Kickstarter and the implications it has on our favorite canceled shows. Subscribe to us on iTunes HERE Pouch here. This episode was a long time coming. Milky and I sat down with Jon, without a fourth member, and as expected, it was a laughfest. Then again, even with four people, he brings the house down. You see, Milky and I have been experimenting with the less is more approach, opting to record with only one other person at time. So far, the outcome has been pretty grand, if you look back to some of the episodes with only the three people. Now, we haven't closed off the option of having 4-5 members again, if we can get them, because it's always fun to have a bunch of people crowded together in a room talking shit. But it just requires more effort attempting to schedule more than one person at a time. Either way, this was a fun episode.
