This was one of my favorite conversations over the last year or so. Figured it'd be nice to share it again... We are joined in this episode by Writer, Producer, Actor and Mentor, LARRY WILMORE! We discussed what drew Larry to comedy, writing, acting and producing; and, yes, we did talk about the WGA strike; why, as a kid, he was compelled by the work of such greats as Houdini, Buster Keaton, the Marx Brothers and Flip Wilson; rebounding from professional setbacks and keeping a healthy mindset; his thoughts on the "TP&R question" - how to be better at talking about politics and religion across our differences; and we got pretty deep with the concept of consciousness, meaning and why humans have a desire to have a life of meaning. Emmy Award winner Larry Wilmore is a prolific producer, actor, comedian, and writer. He is also the host of the excellent podcast Larry Wilmore: Black on the Air. Larry is perhaps best known for his role as host of Comedy Central's The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore and as the “Senior Black Correspondent” on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Off-screen, Larry serves as co-creator and consulting producer on HBO's Insecure, and helped to launch ABC's black-ish as an executive producer and is a co-creator of the spin-off Grownish. Previously, he has written for In Living Color, The PJ's (which he co-created), The Office (on which he also appeared), and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He also served as creator, writer, and executive producer of The Bernie Mac Show, which earned him his Emmy for “Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series” and a 2001 Peabody Award. In 2016, Larry hosted the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. Larry is also an author, having released his first book, I'd Rather We Got Casinos and Other Black Thoughts, in January 2009. Kamala Harris has conceded and the Democrats have had to accept it - Donald Trump will be the 47th President of the United States of America. Now that the race is over, the question on everyone's mind, both right and left, is what will he do with his second term? Trump's MAGA supporters are understandably ecstatic, and believe that Trump will secure the border, deport millions of illegal immigrants and lower the cost of living.Former Trump adviser Roger Stone joins Piers Morgan on Uncensored, to give his valuable insight on what is to come, and also explain the ‘Martini tweets' directed at Piers. For a broader discussion, Piers then welcomes ex-White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, author and 'Gutfeld' panellist Kat Timpf, former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer and comedian Larry Wilmore. Lastly, Piers interviews streamer Destiny for his solemn cowed analysis. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Cord Jefferson is riding high as the Oscar-nominated writer and director of American Fiction, which has widely and properly been acclaimed as one of the best films of the past year. Even more exciting is the fact that Jefferson has never made a movie before. Leonard and Jessie enjoyed exploring the building blocks of his career that led to this achievement. He was on the writing staff of Larry Wilmore's Late Night comedy show and Aziz Ansari's Master of None, among others, when a series of events pointed him toward filmmaking. Step One was finding a property he cared enough about to adapt and then direct. Unlike other neophytes who get their first break right out of film school, Cord had traveled the world and worked as a journalist before he ever stepped foot on a movie set. We are eager to see what comes next.
Phil and David present a second set of some of their greatest musical hits with guests from Peter Frampton coming alive discussing his childhood pal, David Bowie to Steven Van Zandt giving insight into his relationship with his longtime buddy and sometimes Boss, Bruce Springsteen to Susanna Hoffs talking about her "Eternal Flame." Robin Thede works hard. She always has. One of her first gigs in showbiz was on Queen Latifah's daytime talk show as head writer. Fast forward to 2015, Robin was making history. She became the first ever Black woman to become head writer on a late night talk show: The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. But Robin isn't only an incredible writer. She's an amazing comedian and actor. As a Second City alum, her name is up there with some of the biggest names in comedy like Jordan Peele, Amy Poehler and Steve Carell. And Robin's done a lot with this extraordinary legacy. For the past few years, she's been making waves as showrunner of the HBO show A Black Lady Sketch Show. This week on Bullseye, we're revisiting our chat with Robin about A Black Lady Sketch Show. Plus, we'll get into her childhood. Robin grew up in a mostly white, suburban part of Iowa. She'll talk about the challenges that being biracial presented and why she identifies as Black today.
Live from the SiriusXM studio, Lovett Or Leave It pits DeSantis vs Trump in a battle for the... well, not the soul of the country. The Academy's own private detective (Brandon Scott Jones) pulls back the red curtain on this year's Oscars scandal. Lovett and Larry Wilmore discuss police brutality and the debate over reform. Midterms are making the kids squirm at this, our last Lovett Or Leave It before we see you next Tuesday at the polls. Larry Wilmore looks at Biden's closing message, while Rainn Wilson screams for your dollars on behalf of the Democrats. A newly-motivated post-Dobbs voter (Kiran Does) promises Lovett she'll vote, provided she is actually real and not his hope-fueled fever dream, while Josh Gondelman offers heartfelt pep talks to the despondent, the lonely, and the zebrafish. And we end the show with a spin of the Rant Wheel, to clear some space for whatever we feel when we find out what happens next week. In the meantime, get out there and vote, babies! We're all in this together!
