In this explosive episode, we delve into two massive unfolding scandals: the International Olympic Committee's alleged cover-up of male DNA test results for female boxing gold medalists, and a possible NATO-led escalation into direct conflict with Russia. From Olympic controversy involving Algerian boxer Imane Khelif and Chinese Taipei's Lin Yu-Ting, to leaked tests, censorship in the EU, and extradition threats—nothing is off limits. The episode then pivots to a chilling analysis of recent drone attacks deep inside Russian territory, reportedly carried out with NATO support. Has the U.S. officially entered a kinetic war with Moscow? Why was Trump allegedly left in the dark? And is anyone in the American intel community still keeping the public informed? With insights from Keith Kellogg, Rebecca Koffler, and Steve Bannon, this is a wake-up call few are willing to sound.
From Olympic training to injury prevention, Luxembourg hosts the world's brightest minds to prove why maths might just be sport's secret superpower. After a round-up of mid-week news with Sasha Kehoe, my guests this week are: - Prof. Christophe Ley – Main organiser of MathSport International; leads the Modelling, Interdisciplinary Research, Data Science, Applied Mathematics and Statistics group at the University of Luxembourg. - Prof. Romain Seil – World-renowned orthopaedic knee surgeon, IOC advisor, Director of the Neurosciences and Musculoskeletal Diseases Division at Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg; co-founder of the European Society of Sports Traumatology, knee Surgery and Arthroscopy - ESSKA's Pediatric ACL registry and previous President of ESSKA, amongst many other organisations. - Prof. Thorben Hülsdünker – Professor in Performance Neuroscience and Sport Neurophysiology, Head of the Neurophysiology and Motor Control Research Area at LUNEX. - Alwin de Prins – Former Olympian and Managing Director at the Luxembourg Institute for High Performance in Sports (LIHPS) - Katarzyna Szczerba – PhD student with Prof. Ley, using machine learning with medical data to best use this data for injury prevention, and much more. This week on The Lisa Burke Show, we dive deep into a blend of brain and brawn as Luxembourg hosts the 11th International MathSport Conference. While it may sound niche, what's unfolding here could revolutionise how athletes train, recover—and even avoid career-ending injuries. And not just athletes as many injuries are caused by people unprepared for activities they undertake once a year, such as skiing. Held from June 4–6 in the Coque and LUNEX University, the conference unites elite athletes, data scientists, surgeons and policymakers to explore how mathematics, data science and AI are transforming global sport. A Surgeon's Warning Professor Romain Seil, Luxembourg's globally celebrated knee specialist, put it bluntly: "If I could ban two sports for injury prevention, it would be football and alpine skiing." His data from years in the operating room is compelling. ACL injuries are devastating, often leading to early joint replacements. Professor Seil hopes we can increasingly pool real data to reform training, and embed prevention strategies from grass-roots to Olympic levels. “Coaches often don't realise the long-term damage until multiple players are injured. Data is how we change that.” Brains Behind the Brawn Professor Thorben Hülsdünker of LUNEX added another dimension with a focus on the connection of our body with our brain. He studies the neurophysiology of elite performance, from how athletes see and react, and how training can rewire the brain. “The brain is the next frontier of sports training,” he said. “Understanding it will define the next generation of champions.” Prof Hülsdünker knows that the best training targets both muscles and minds, combining sport science with neuroscience. AI Gets Personal PhD student AI-enhanced Cox Model blends machine learning with statistical models to predict runner injuries, and other medical issues, before they happen. “We're building tools that doctors and coaches can understand: simple, interpretable, but powerful enough to prevent injury.” Her AI-enhanced Cox Model is one of the standout presentations at MathSport 2025. From Pool to Policy Alwin de Prins, a three-time Olympic swimmer and now Director of LIHPS, reflects on what's changed since his competitive days: “I never had this level of support as an athlete. Now, our goal is to optimise not just performance, but well-being and life after sport.” His mission includes dual career planning, athlete health, and placing Luxembourg firmly on the map as a sporting—and scientific—nation. Why Luxembourg? Why Now? Professor Christophe Ley, the heart of this year's conference, pulled it all together: “Sport is full of data. We want to extract meaning from it—not just for medals, but for health, safety, and strategy.” With keynote talks ranging from sports analytics to injury prevention and economics, MathSport 2025 puts Luxembourg at the centre of a growing global movement: data-driven sport. https://www.linkedin.com/in/alwindeprins/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/christophe-ley-b71607166/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/romain-seil-9952172a/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/thorbenhuelsduenker/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/katarzyna-szczerba-4402b9192/ Get in touch Tune in to The Lisa Burke Show on Today Radio Saturdays at 11am, Sundays at noon, and Tuesdays at 11am. Send us a textLacing up for track season brings a flood of memories to anyone who's ever competed, and this star-studded panel takes us straight to the starting blocks. From Olympic trial qualifier Jose Jefferson who triple jumped 51'11" to All-American javelin thrower Lauren Lubarski who broke her university record as a freshman, these track legends deliver a masterclass in what it takes to excel in the sport. The conversation quickly reveals how track and field creates versatile athletes – Jose competed in five events at one meet, while Lauren transitioned from discus national champion in high school to javelin standout in college. As Coach Andy Upton shares insights from his impressive 27-year coaching career, we discover how knowledge gets passed down through generations, with many former competitors now coaching the next wave of talent.Nothing bonds track athletes like suffering through brutal weather conditions. Stories of competing in hailstorms, running through snow-covered tracks, and watching high jump bars fall from wind gusts before jumpers even approach bring knowing laughter from everyone involved. Coach Upton's tale of squeegeeing water off floating long jump boards demonstrates the dedication coaches bring to helping athletes succeed regardless of conditions. When the discussion turns to the most challenging event in track and field, the 800-meter race narrowly edges out the 400-meter hurdles and 10K distance. This friendly debate highlights the respect these athletes have for disciplines outside their specialties – sprinters acknowledging distance runners' endurance while throwers recognize the technical demands of hurdle events. For current and aspiring track athletes listening, this episode offers more than nostalgic war stories. The following year, Lowe won silver at the 2005 World Championships to become the first American woman to win a world outdoor championships high jump medal since Louise Ritter won bronze at the inaugural event in Helsinki in 1983. In 2008 she represented her country again in the high jump at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Days after returning from the 2012 Olympic Games, started teaching trigonometry at Grayson High School in Atlanta. “The only magic thing about running is consistency. Consistent competence equals eventual excellence. That's kind of my mantra. So we try to stay healthy so that we can be consistent. We just keep on getting the miles in, getting the workouts in, and over time, good things happen. What was special about 2024? Who knows other than having the right athletes in the right position, the right belief and faith in their parts and goals, and going, ‘Hey, maybe we can do this.'” My guest for today's episode is BYU director of track and field and cross country Ed Eyestone, the architect of one of the greatest years ever for American distance running. From Olympic medals and top-10 marathon finishes to NCAA titles, 2024 was nothing short of historic for Coach Eyestone and his athletes. Just this weekend, Ed capped it all off by leading the BYU men to their second NCAA cross country title in six years, holding off a stacked field at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course. It's been a dream season for Eyestone, whose year began with Conner Mantz and Clayton Young finishing 1-2 at the Olympic Marathon Trials and ended with BYU completing a historic NCAA sweep—both the men's and women's teams claiming national titles for the first time since 2004. We dive into Ed's coaching strategies, his reflections on this monumental season and how he's built a culture of resilience and excellence at BYU. From the roads to the track to the grass, no one's had a better 2024 than Ed Eyestone, and we can't wait to hear his take on how it all came together. Jennifer Sey is no stranger to adversity. From Olympic gymnastics to America's corporate culture, she has battled her way through her fair share of difficult situations. But her most recent battle crossed the line – the political party line. Challenging the legitimacy of school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jennifer found herself questioning the values and beliefs of the party she had followed her entire life. When she began publicly asking those questions, pointing out hypocrisies, and challenging the mainstream media, she went from next in line to be the first female CEO of Levi's to being offered hush money disguised as a severance. In this episode, Jillian and Jennifer discuss the details of Jennifer's book, “Levi's Unbuttoned”, and the rise of “woke capitalism” in America's corporate culture. Their conversation sheds light on the current political state of our nation and the lack of common sense in today's culture. While they didn't agree on everything, there was one thing they both agreed on without question: their right to say what they believed without fear of judgment. Jennifer embodies the Lions Thrive tenet.

Welcome to Reimagining Company Culture, a series discussing emerging trends and priorities shaping the future of workplace culture and employee wellbeing. We highlight thought leaders who are constantly evolving their strategy and can provide insight to folks about how to address new business challenges. AllVoices is on a mission to create safe, happy, and healthy workplaces for all, and we're excited to learn from experts who share our mission. In this episode of Reimagining Company Culture, we're chatting with Sarah Anderegg, Manager of Employee Engagement at Pitchbook Data. Sarah focuses on delivering high-impact engagement events. From Olympic-level rock paper scissors tournaments, planning cross-department mixers, or strategizing on PitchBook's philanthropy program, she makes sure that human connectivity is at the core of all initiativesAbout AllVoicesIn today's workforce, people often don't feel empowered to speak up and voice their opinions about workplace issues, including harassment, bias, and other culture issues. This prevents company leadership from making necessary changes, and prevents people from feeling fulfilled, recognized, and included at work. At AllVoices, we want to change that by providing a completely safe, anonymous way for people to report issues directly to company leaders. This allows company leadership real transparency into what's happening in their companies—and the motivation to address issues quickly. Our goal is to help create safer, more inclusive companies. To learn more about AllVoices visit us at www.allvoices.co!

Greg Scheinman has accrued more than a couple of titles over the years. He's an insurance broker, a blogger, a fitness enthusiast, a father of two, and a husband of 20 years. He's the producer of independent films, having started his career at Miramax Films in New York. He's an entrepreneur whose children's home entertainment venture, Team Baby Entertainment, was sold to the former CEO of Disney. And he's a middle-aged man. It's the last of these titles that's Greg's focus for his podcast, Midlife Male. With 136 episodes under his belt to date, Greg realized the demographic he's in is a traditionally underserved one. That's because too often men are sold the message that middle age is something they need to fear rather than embrace. But that narrative is one Greg is determined to end. “We're talking about midlife men and how they're navigating middle age to achieve a better quality of life — how they've turned their lives and careers around and how they've become a better husband and better father,” he says. “That's where I am in my life, and that's what I want to learn about.” On that front, Greg has been far from alone. From Olympic gold medal winners to Grammy-winning artists to chefs and entrepreneurs and dads and average Joes down the street, everybody has a story worth telling, with trials and tribulations and lessons to share. Celebrating those stories, the wisdom that accompanies them, and what midlife men are achieving in the here and now is what Greg as a podcaster is all about. In this episode of the Working For a Dream Podcast, Patrick and Greg talk about recognizing the power of your midlife years, where Greg's career has taken him, and what comes next. What You'll Learn: The six focuses for success as a midlife male, according to Greg Why middle age is an aspirational place to be (and how brands are starting to recognize that) How Greg approaches taking risks, and how getting older means he's gotten better at it And much more! Favorite Quote: “The middle is the sweet spot. It's not the end. It's not a crisis. It's not either. It's the sweet spot. This is when life should be getting better. This is when my foot's on the gas, right now.” — Greg Scheinman How to Get Involved: Connect with Greg: Midlife Male Instagram LinkedIn Connect with Patrick: LinkedIn Facebook Instagram
Few skiers have had such a lasting impact on their sport like Mike Douglas. From Olympic-caliber bumper to freeskiing pioneer to ski design innovator to influential filmmaker, Whistler’s. Douglas has been at the forefront of skiing for more than 25 years. There’s a good reason everyone calls him “the Godfather of Freeskiing.” He pushed his young moguls skiers — like Vincent Dorian, J.P. Auclair, J.F. Cusson and Shane Szocs — into “snowboard parks” in the mid 1990s, where the crew became known as the New Canadian Air Force. Their FIS-dissing trickery chafed against international rules that forbid mogul skiers from getting inverted. Douglas and his crew designed their perfect ski, which became the Salomon 1080 and changed skiing. Douglas has spent his life exploring skiing from the perspective of athlete, coach, ski designer, instructor and filmmaker. Tune in as the Godfather holds court. 3:57: Moving to Whistler for a quick year before university, Douglas signs up for moguls contests and ends the season ranked third in British Columbia. 5:00: Making a run for the Lillehammer Games in 1994, Douglas works with the Canadian Freestyle Team. 5:25: Bad habits plagued his early skiing. The worst? The heavy head. “The world slows down the farther you look.” 8:00: Started coaching in Whistler Blackcomb, teaching the next generation of mogul skiers. 9:15: Top athletes were grating under the strictures of FIS mogul skiing. Snowboarding was blowing up. Skiers wondered why they couldn’t do that same tricks as snowboarders. 10:30: Back then, if you wanted to change a trick, it took two years to win FIS approval. “Meanwhile we were watching snowboarders innovating every week.” 11:10: Douglas and top bumpers started poaching the snowboard-only terrain parks after moguls practice. 12:04: The skills from mogul skiing transferred to the park. Balanced at speed. 13:20: Trial-and-error skill development in the park predated trampolines and airbags. 14:32:: The creation of the Salomon 1080. “We knew we needed a ski that was different.” 19:45: Absorbing the fire he sparked in freeskiing. “Every day I see something ridiculous that melts my brain.” 22:18: Longevity on skis comes from a drive to keep moving and keep improving. 27:10: Almost every day on the same skis and boots. 29:44: The technology that enabled the one-ski quiver. 31:35: Lessons from 18 years teaching at Chile’s Superstars Camp. 33:35: Three most basic principles of skiing. Simple is better. “If you can do those three things you can ski well anywhere." 36:16: Seeking the secret to longevity and “The Fountain of Youth” in Japan with Everest skier Yuichiro Miura and his son Gota. 39:50: Step by step. “You got to have a goal.” 42:28: Notching wins for the climate as a driving force behind Protect Our Winters Canada. Motivating skiers to write 23,000 letters to the government, forcing a coal mine expansion to undergo intensive environmental review. “We may have saved 15 million tons of carbon dioxide from going into the air every year.”
In this episode, we speak with Univerity of Porstmouth alumnus Max Holloway about the part marine science has to play in cleaning up our oceans. It's one thing to gather evidence that oceans are suffering the effects of climate change. But a much bigger challenge lies in translating the scientific findings into policy. From Olympic sailing to open-water swimming in the antarctic, Max shares the many ways that climate science can reach the masses. It's great to hear that people outside of the scientific community are starting to sit up and pay attention to the findings of people like Max. I've got nothing but love for stories of personal metamorphosis, perhaps the most predominant theme of this show. The underdog everyman meets unforeseen obstacles. Brought to his knees, he's compelled to seek deep within. Meeting fate, strength is somehow found in a mystical power greater than himself. He leverages it to evolve into something greater and more authentic. Emerging self-actualized, he then shares his newfound strength, wisdom and experience for the benefit of others. We call it the hero’s journey.Archetypal and totemic, it’s a most powerful narrative that unites, connecting with something indelible and universal within us all.Over the years, I’ve hosted many flavors of physical triumph. From Olympic medalists to arctic explorers, I celebrate the arc of the athletic warrior. But life’s greatest passage isn’t physical. It’s not free-soloing El Capitan, crossing Antarctica, or running ultramarathons in Patagonia. Our most challenging voyage is learning how to love ourselves. No one embodies this genus of the hero’s journey better than Kamal Ravikant. To be clear, Kamal has more than earned his spot as a respected adventurer living beyond convention. From modest beginnings, he’s trekked to one of the highest base camps in the Himalayas, earned his US Army Infantry patch, walked 550 miles across Spain, and meditated with Tibetan monks in the Dalai Lama’s monastery.Professionally, he’s done it all too, founding a company with the guy who wrote the first browser. From launching startups to managing venture capital funds, Kamal has spent the better part of his career working alongside some of the smartest investors and engineers in Silicon Valley, writing books in his free time. But Kamal's most transformative experience has been the simple act of learning how to love himself. Why is it so hard for us?I first heard about Kamal by way of his frequent appearances on our mutual and beloved friend James Altucher’s podcast.Compelled by his honesty and vulnerability, I felt myself holding space with someone who embodied an important wisdom. A wisdom I lacked. Reflexively, I picked up Kamal's latest book, Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends on It.Spiritual and emotional growth is my jam and yer I never thought much about self-love. So I freely admit I met Kamal's book with a healthy dose of initial skepticism. However, the read ignited a realization that I continue to harbor unhealed wounds. Simple, straightforward and profound, I discovered practices not just helpful, but truly transformative. I wanted to know more.Today we unpack Kamal's heroic journey of the heart. It’s a conversation about his trials and his triumphs. His divine moment. The path of self-discovery that followed. And what he learned surviving a recent near death experience. It’s about how he learned to love himself. The simple routine he deploys to maintain it. And why this practice is essential to living an examined, self-actualized life of presence, purpose and contentment. For the stoics and skeptics, I implore you to set aside whatever resistance you may be feeling right now. And give this one a shot with an open mind and heart.Note: This conversation was recorded pre-pandemic (February 12, 2020), thus there is no coronavirus reference. Nonetheless, Kamal's wisdom is timeless. Moreover, the practices we discuss are powerful tools of self-discovery than can prove transformative as we navigate this challenging time. The visually inclined can watch it all go down on YouTube. And as always, the audio version streams wild and free on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.Kamal’s vulnerability is refreshing. I love this conversation and the friendship it has birthed. I hope it serves you as it did me.Peace + Plants,Listen, Watch & SubscribeApple Podcasts | YouTube | Spotify | Stitcher | Google Podcasts Thanks to this week’s sponsorsNavitas Organics: Great people. In his three-decade-long NASCAR career, Kenny Wallace has competed in over 900 races, earned nine wins, and was named Most Popular Driver three times. Yet, he hasn't let this hard-earned success change who he is. Today, Kenny shares the snapshots that changed his life forever, including the death of his brother Mike Wallace's young son + helping Dale Earnhardt Sr. win the last race of his life. You're going to love this hearing his humble roots shaped him, the passion he has for racing, his recent self-reflection and how he strives every day to be his iconic, happy, fun-loving self. SHOW NOTES: Family affair: Growing up, racing was something that brought Kenny's family together. Kenny has been married to his high school sweetheart Kim for over 30 years. “Kim is all Kenny all the time. It would crush me to let her down.” Trials + tribulations: Kenny opens up about the death of his brother Mike Wallace’s son and how it’s helped him appreciate moments with his children and grandchildren Today, Mike is paying it forward including supporting former NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart. Dale Earnhardt Sr. and his brother Rusty Wallace gave Kenny his first-ever NASCAR start at Martinsville Speedway in 1988. Career highlight: “It’s not the wins, the Most Popular Driver awards, not some of my favorite trophies. It has to be helping Dale Earnhardt, Sr. win the last race of his life, and I finished second, at 2000 Winston 500 at Talladega Speedway. Herman the German: Kenny’s nickname came from his father Russ winning races at St. Louis-area dirt tracks. Out of sight, out of mind: Recently Kenny brought out old NASCAR trophies in a moment of self-reflection + forgiveness, and shared with his fans. Watch that video here. “Being happy is abnormal. People should work at being happy – not mask it.” Did hearing from a professional sports athlete inspired you? You'll love our Sports + Athletes playlist! Patrick Sweeney is better known as the “Fear Guru”. In this episode taped live at the Spartan Media Fest in Lake Tahoe, we explore how to help your kids embrace fear and move past it using the “logic brain” rather than the “lizard brain”. Often it starts with a shift in mindset, then actions follow. Those times of change become milestone moments that alter everything and you're never the same again. That moment came for Patrick Sweeney minutes after almost losing his life against a rare case of Leukemia. For years, Patrick had worked hard building technology companies and earning millions. He'd reached the pinnacle of success, but he wasn't happy. As a typical over-achiever, Patrick took on the world in his 20's training for the USA Olympic team in rowing, and then took on the business world in his 30's and 40's. Patrick launched, funded and sold multiple companies in the technology space but 75 hour weeks and pushing his body to the limits left him feeling exhausted and unfulfilled. In one moment, Patrick walked away. He'd just fought for his life on an operating table against a rare case of leukemia. In that moment of perspective as he stood outside the hospital, he decided to fight the fear of the unknown and embrace a different future. One that would bring fulfillment, joy and happiness. In that moment, Patrick unlocked a new passion for adventure. As he systematically approached the things he feared and avoided, he unlocked greater levels of success and happiness in his own life. Out of that came the start of a fear framework. Today, he climbs mountains, breaks world records and travels the world speaking on taming fear and unlocking peak performance. His mission: help thousands of people make amazing transformations. From Olympic level athlete turned tech entrepreneur to full time adventurer and fear guru, Patrick Sweeney is a testimony to the power of fear and focus.

“Chance favors the prepared mind” is often quoted to be from Louis Pasteur. Pasteur was a chemist and microbiologist who studied and found cures for a handful of diseases, including a vaccine for rabies. The concept that luck or fortune follows the bold, prepared, or active has long been discussed. The truth is, not everyone can be lucky. Only those that do, are rewarded. Even lottery winners have to buy a ticket. In running we experience the same thing. You simply don’t know how “lucky” you can be unless you get out there and start running. The beautiful thing about running is that there is much more to it than winning races; you have chances to “win” every day that aren’t necessarily podium moments. As we’ve discussed, wins in running include enjoying nature, discovering new places, developing relationships, and maintaining good mental and physical health. Running is also a time when great business ideas or solutions to long-term problems are discovered. The opportunities for victory while running are endless. But. If you do happen to be in-the-running for a particular race, that win comes via preparation as well. You don’t know when your moment to shine will come. The weather, your competition, or your overall health and energy fluctuate. The only way you can get lucky is by being prepared. This idea of preparation followed by chance is the epitome of Nicole DeBoom’s successful career. From Olympic qualifier, to top triathlete, to business owner, Nicole has done what it takes to put herself in a situation to succeed. Like the rest of us, she has had personal weaknesses and could never control her competition, but she put in the work and let the results happen. Go Through the Open Door Shortly after the peak of her triathlete career, DeBoom had an idea for a women’s clothing company. She felt that there weren’t many clothing options for professional athletes that were both stylish and up to performance standards. She wanted to look good and feel good while she competed. At the time, tennis skirts, golf skirts, and even swim skirts were available, but nothing for female runners. As she began to create a new type of running skirt, she quickly discovered that her target market wasn’t exactly what she expected. She had planned to convince other professional female runners to wear the skirt, but there weren’t a ton of them that were interested, and trying to further convince them didn’t help. However, she found that there was a lot larger range of women that were interested in the running skirts. Many women not only wanted to feel good while wearing stylish clothing, they wanted additional coverage so that they felt comfortable while running as well. Nicole quickly learned to create clothing for the women with this need, rather than create a need for a specific group of women. When she focused on helping her new customers, her business grew and her opportunities expanded. You may have many ideas and desires in life that seem like the only path to happiness or success. But if you are willing to take the opportunities that present themselves, rather than fighting to change what you can’t, you’ll find yourself succeeding quickly. This doesn’t mean taking the path of least resistance per se, but seizing the opportunities that are placed before you. You’ll Love What You’re Good At, So Try It All! Now Nicole is a mother, with a daughter who will have many opportunities. Nicole is focused on helping her find the things she enjoys and is good at. Giving her chances to try many things, and to not be too antsy in taking away the other things she loves too quickly. Nicole regrets putting so much time into swimming and neglecting other sports when she found out she could be a great swimmer. She wants her daughter to continue a variety of things, even if she is great at one. The same should go for you and I. What do you love to do? What are you good at? Chances are they are related. It’s not always certain which comes first, so don’t be afraid to try something you think you may love, or look for ways to enjoy what you are good at. Everyone loves a comeback story. But behind the comeback is a grueling journey that is full of just as many (if not more) failures as successes. Sounds a lot like like sales, huh? Our guest today is Olympic athlete Katherine Adamek. In 2010 Katherine won a silver and bronze medal in speed skating at the Vancouver Olympic Games. But instead of celebrating and preparing for the next Olympic games she had to have three hip surgeries and years of rehab. In this episode we discuss how she trained for gold, prepared her comeback and maintained the resilience to maintain a life of success after her Olympic dreams came and went. Today, Katherine is using her decades of experience as a world class coach and athlete to teach the mental, physical, and nutritional skills necessary to improve performance. Katherine believes that simple skills like communication and body language are essential to getting the most out of coaching. Better coaching leads to faster improvement. Faster improvement leads to a new level of performance. On today's podcast… 3:30 - From Olympic success to what's next...at 21 years old 7:00 - Life has become my new sport 11:31 - One of Katherine's greatest motivating factors during her comeback 14:41 - Pulling yourself out of the slump 18:07 - A focus on results will create frustration, a focus on process will create results 21:15 - What we can and cannot influence 25:00 - Once you can recognize that you've fallen into a default thought pattern that's not serving you right now, you can step out of it. 29:40 - Atomic Habits by James Clear 32:17 - We've trained our brains to be stressed We have a new website. This is one of my favourite episodes EVER! I am so honoured to have my friend, colleague and mentor Mike Boyle on the show. Mike was so influential in my development as a strength coach. In college, I read his best selling book “Functional Training for Sports” and it changed the way I saw training from that moment forward. Mike is one of the most decorated strength and conditioning coaches in world of sports. From Olympic gold medals in hockey to NHL, NBA, NFL and MLB champions to collegiate and high school athletes and everything in between. He has also developed some of todays top S&C coaches through his Certified Functional Strength Coach certifications and his internship at his Mike Boyle Strength & Conditioning Facilities. This is where this conversation took place. I had the opportunity to speak to his staff and share with them my LoadXplode 1 day workshop. BOOM! Humbled! So what do you chat about when you have your mentor in front of you for an hour? Everything under the sun including the the early days of the @perfrombetter summits, his keynote speech at this year’s event, what it means to be a mentor, finding a work/life balance, marriage, his father, kids and how he is preparing for his next #DreamBIG which could be his biggest accomplishment yet! So many gems, so many golden nugget take aways and so many laughs between to coaches who never take themselves too serious. That may just be the secret to life! I am so grateful for the time we had together and I will play this one back time and time again to remind myself what is truly important in life. Thanks Coach!
