This podcast had my hallucinating from the get go! Frank Ligons joins me all the way from Pittsburgh USA and shares his 25 year battle with mental health, including repeated suicidal thoughts to stumbling on ketamine therapy which he attributes to be his saviour. Like most people, Frank had only heard of ketamine as a "club drug" and "animal tranquilizer." Upon further research, he was surprised to discover that Ketamine is the world's most commonly used aesthetic, well known for its safety and affordability. Doctors discovered that depression sufferers treated with small doses (much lower than the aesthetic dose) often remitted. Once Frank went for treatment, he was stunned when this astonishing procedure stopped his 25 years of suicidal thoughts in their tracks! That was over three years ago and while Frank attends monthly boosters, his suicidal ideations have never returned. To spread the good news, Frank wrote a book for others who needed similar hope and help. IV Ketamine Infusion Therapy for Depression: Why I Tried It, What It's Like, and If It Worked was published in May of 2021 and has been an Amazon best seller in several categories since that time. . It's a must-have for anyone considering ketamine for themselves or a loved one. This is a must listen for anyone who has ever suffered due to poor mental health, and how doctors are using ketamine in a controlled and heavily administrated environment to help improve the lives of many. Cian and I whip the protein on how they kicked off their lean start up with a $99 ice-cream maker after consuming tasty protein shakes late into the night studying. Harold Ngo, champion of the ‘Vietnam MasterChef' reality TV show's first season shares his journey from working in Australian hospitality venues to return to his homeland, winning MasterChef and opening The Ox Not Only Ox n Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). Harold and I sip the whisky on why locals will always refer to Ho Chi Minh as Saigon, how his 18 years in Australia contributed to the fusion of Eastern and Western cuisine, that his first cooking lesson at the age of 7 from his mother initiated a passionate career path and his love of simplicity s at the core of his amazing restaurant. Harold and I first met as he was managing a restaurant I was working in to fund the start up costs of my first personal training studio in Sydney. This podcast had me teary from the start! Rhonda Macken is an author, composer and musical educator from Sydney, Australia. Through her moving and uplifting memoir Hope Street and her album Flight: A Musical Mosaic, Rhonda reveals how the creative arts can be used to process and heal from childhood trauma and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) Rhonda and I dispel the idea that DID is a form of insanity, but rather a sane way to cope with horrific trauma. Rhonda is a testament to human resilience after facing unimaginable childhood trauma at the hands of her father, a returned WW2 veteran. We take you through the journey from those childhood experiences to creating multiple personalities as a protection mechanism . Rhonda began to experience unprecedented bouts of anxiety and frustration but was unsure why. It was upon meeting Libby, an amazing therapist who understood DID that the real healing begun. Rhonda talks about never been medicated, where her love of art, music and writing became instrumental to her ability to accept their past and move forward. Rhonda is now a 70 year old Wife, Mother and Grandmother and using her story to help educate others, firstly to remove the stigma that surrounds DID and that recovery is a real possibility for those in similar circumstances. This podcast is for those who want to understand DID, as a self preservation mechanism whereby the brain compartmentalises to help protect oneself from experiencing ongoing trauma. This podcast had me grateful for podcast freedom from the start !Eleni a mother of 3 beautiful children, with a career she loved and what seemed like a stable home was falling apart on the inside. Having experienced low self worth and eating disorders in the past, had come back to haunt her and finally landed her in Sydney's maximum security prison. Eleni and I chew the metal bars on how anxiety, depression and low self esteem had plagued her from an early age and how she hadn't recognised what she was experiencing in her marriage to be domestic violence. This eventually led to a poor decision that she was arrested for 4.5 years later and incarcerated in Sydney's maximum security prison, Silverwater Women's Correctional Centre. It was through the therapy with a forensic psychologist for months prior to sentencing that Eleni had a lightbulb moment and wished she had treatment for the underlying unhealthy thoughts that resulted in an eating disorder in her late teens. Unlearning these thoughts was not easy, particularly when she spent 11 months behind bars. But it was this experience that has made her the resilient woman that she is today and now loves who she is. Eleni is now a educator on self worth, having published a paper , presented at two national eating disorder conferences and won the 2016 Filex Inspiration Award. Eleni was also a finalist in the 2020 Changemaker Category of the Women with Altitude Awards and won the Brave Rising Star at these awards. Eleni also manages a program that helps women who have been incarcerated rebuild their lives upon release and assimilate back into society. This podcast is for those who want to know how one poor decision could affect the rest of your life and that there is a fine line between green and blue! This podcast had me Courageous from the get go! Dr Kathryn Hackman, a consultant in Endocrinology and I discuss the importance of clear communication with children. That clear communication helps to enhance kids confidence and how this passion led to creating the Courageous Kids App. Dr Kathryn identified that 1 in 14 children suffer from anxiety and how important education and preparation are in reducing this. Kathryn and I share how she was able to curb her son's anxiety of an upcoming work trip through story telling and preparation. After hearing similar situations and sharing her story with other parents, Kathryn realised this was a problem worth solving and created Courageous Kids(CK). Courageous Kids became an App that tailors stories around children's first ever experiences and creates visual learning plans so kids feel more in control. We share the App building journey, learning curves and the wins throughout the process. Ben Saville is a business coach to the creators, predominately artists and helps change their mindset from a F&%K You to a thank you and getting comfortable with rejection. Ben hails all the way from the northern hemisphere and our mother land, London! Ben worked in hospitality events before Covid impacted his income stream and soon decided he had to Switch his Sitch to make ends meet. Ben now provides coaching, both one to one and group to help artists discover the simplest route to growth whilst continuing to do what they love. We discuss how he provides support through his workshops, helps artists with growth mindset and how to turn a fuck you to a thank you! This podcast came at me with superstar appeal! I first heard Josh's story on Gary V's podcast and after much hustle I was a able to line up an all exclusive with this focused, determined and resilient GYM GUY! Josh York founded Gym Guyz, the fastest growing personal training franchise in The Unites States from his parents living room in 2008. Josh boot-strapped his way through sheer determination and hard work to now having over 250 locations internationally. Josh and I squeeze the fat on starting a business amidst a global financial crisis, the importance of customer centric business focus and reducing people's excuses to reduce their waist line. Josh recognised a gap in the market for home based personal training sessions when one of his clients suggested that it would be awesome if Josh could bring the workout to his house! The idea sparked the creation of Gym Guyz, a mobile personal training business. Its primary goal was to deliver personalised programs inhouse, thus reducing the inconsistencies of peoples training and delivered personalised results. Josh opened up about having to pay wages when he didn't have the cash in his account, how early mornings are a key to success, backing yourself is imperative to decision making and his motto “never give up” has gained him ranking on Entrepreneur Magazine's fastest growing franchises list for 2020.
