Welcome back to my ~glamorous~ life!!!!!!! Happy V Day my loves! I have been preaching for the past 3 years to love yourselves and I feel like a fraud because there has been one part of my body I have consistently hated, MY VAGINA. The media, society, advertisements, etc. have taught many people that vaginas are gross, supposed to smell like flowers, taste like a rainbow, leading many to feel insecure. I bought into these many ads, products and opinions and have never felt confident since. In this episode we talk about my history with many (failed) vaginal products, yeast infections and a lot of self love. Don't forget to give yourself extra love and care today (and everyday). Treat yourself! xo

Karin Freeland, a recovered corporate workaholic, came to the right place when she sat down for this interview. I love talking about following passions and, after years in high-pressure leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies, that's what she did when she traded the boardroom for the bedroom. In her hilarious tell-all book - a title I can appreciate - The Ins and Outs of My Vagina: A Penetrating Memoir, she recounts the mishaps and misadventures she's had over the past 40 years with a special partner in crime: her vagina, named V. Also a speaker and certified Life & Reinvention Coach, Karin says she focuses on helping ambitious women transform their lives by overcoming their fears and achieving their dreams. Jobs Blow + The Ins and Outs of My Vagina = don't miss episode!
This podcast had me peachy from the start! Karin Freeland made the switch from a 6 figure income in New Jersey to publishing a book in the peachy town of South Carolina. Karin ditched the high flying, cortisol driven career path to pursue a 10 year dream of publishing a memoir, “The in's & Out's of My Vagina” and has never looked back! Karin & I turn the pages on how she knew it was time to leave, the steps involved on making the switch financially, how her family moved states to help build her dream and how corporate America has received such a controversially named book! Karin is also a socially conscious entrepreneur, part of the profits generated from her book go toward reducing period poverty in the USA! This is a brilliant podcast to tune into for those thinking of making the corporate to entrepreneur switch! Join our Facebook Group (www.facebook.com/groups/461822665123720) to chat to Karin or other likeminded community members who are Switching their Sitch, starting a small business or growing an Empire.

Please help me welcome, Karin..Contact Karin at: karinfreeland@gmail.com or at https://www.karinfreeland.com/Karin's Fun Facts:Q: What was your first word? A: I have no idea and I don't think my mom ever wrote it down. She's not too sentimental. But if you need a word - we can go with dada. Bc it's always the mom they spend all the time with but the dad that they say first! Q: School achievements?A: Came in 2nd place in the 2nd grade spelling bee - lost on the word sweater - I forgot the a. Q: What was your nickname as a child? A: Kar Bear Q: Who is your favorite celebrity and why? A: I try not to have a favorite celebrity - they are just normal people like me. They make mistakes too. Their lives aren't perfect. I try to avoid idolizing people. Not sure if this is what you were looking for but I guess God. He's my celebrity. When He is for me, no one can be against me. When He is for me, anything is possible.Q: What was your most embarrassing moment? A: There are too many to list them all, some of which are in my memoir The Ins and Outs of My Vagina. But I remember in 5th grade, this boy Phillip that I probably had a crush on was chasing me on the playground. I don't know if he pushed me or I fell but I was laid out on the gravel. But it had just rained so I was in a gravely puddle of mud. It was in my mouth hair and my clothes were completely soaked. I tried not to cry but as soon as I saw the bloody knees I was mush. I ran to the nurses office and she tried calling my mom who picked that exact moment to go to the grocery store. Any other day she would have been sitting on the couch watching Young and the Restless. The nurse didn't have any clothes but boy clothes so I had to wear boy gray pants for the rest of the day. I was MORTIFIED. Q: Favorite food? A: Italian and Pizza which sucks bc I have silent acid reflux and can't eat tomatoes anymore Q: Most disgusting food? A: vegamite lol I tried it in Australia but it was just awful Q: Do you sleep on your... A: SideQ: Which superpower would you want to have and why? A: Sure it would be cool to fly or become invisible, but in all practicality I'd rather have some alert or spidey sense to know when a child was being harmed so I could stop it or alert the authorities. As a life coach it's amazing how many people are still dealing with childhood trauma well into adulthood. It impacts their lives, their friends and family, their children, society. we could fix a lot of issues if we cared for the youth more. Q: What is your greatest fear? A: Wasting my life - that's why I had all those panic attacks about death during my midlife crisisQ: What is your biggest dream? A: I'm living it...but I would like to see the book turned into a TV show. Q: What is your stance on pineapple on pizza? A: no - it's actually illegal in some states (don't fact check that though) Q: If you were a flower, which one would you be? A: Orchid - beautiful but hard to maintainQ: In a zombie apocalypse, what is your weapon of choice? A: everything - I would literally turn everything into a weapon, but since this is fantasy, I'd go with bow and arrow. I don't want to get close enough to chop anyone's head off. Q: If you had 10 dogs and someone took one, how many dogs would you have left?A: 9 dogsQ: If you had to wear a disclaimer statement everywhere you went, what would it say? A: Bear: Do not poke.Q: If you were losing your hair, would you transplant or comb over? A: TransplantThank you so much for joining us today! Please take a moment to subscribe so you don't miss a moment of the goodness! And then share it with all of your friends who need a little WISDOM, HUMOR, INSPIRATION & MOTIVATION in their life!Hugs,Wendy

Guess what! Welcome To My Vagina has joined GLOW, a really awesome site that allows you to support us via one-time or monthly subscriptions! AND we don’t have to be censored by the ridiculous terms/conditions of other sites (cough, cough PATREON cough, cough) in order to make money to support our work. It’s a win-win. So head on over to glow and become a subscriber! In this episode Jessy and Rebekah talk to dancer/choreographer/all around bad ass Miriam Wasmund about her amazing new collaborative piece Your Faithful Reader coming to Triskelion Arts in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on October 10th, 11th and 12th. You can buy tickets here or support the artists by donating to the project’s GoFundMe page. Then your favorite hosts go into a deep dive about censorship and cancel culture and how we have been afraid to speak our minds for fear that all of our work will be discredited if we misspeak. We are all here to learn, ourselves included, so we just want to create a safe space to listen, speak and, yes, get some things wrong. And then we talk about TINDA! 04:30: Interested in what all the hubbub is about? Head on over to YourFaithfulReader.com to find a link to tickets and to the GoFundMe page!07:30: Here is the article, “White Supremacists Stole My Rabbi Husband’s Identity,” written for the New York Times by Avital Chizhik-Goldschmidt10:15: Here is the article, “’Cancel Culture’ is a Myth to Silence Marginalized Voices,” by David Dennis, Jr. who is a Professor of Journalism at Morehouse College.14:45: Here is a really awesome article from Vice by Rosalind Jana called “Mark My Words: The Subversive History of Women Using Thread as Ink” that talks all about the history of embroidery and how it has been a way for women to tell their stories within societies who otherwise won’t listen to them. What’s cool about this is that it gives some interesting background into why sites like Ravelry are so active in terms of keeping hate out of their online communities.20:20: This Vox article by Aja Romano really sums up everything with Ravelry. If you don’t want to read the whole thing, here is the central thesis: “(Ravelry’s) new policy holds that support for Trump is support for white supremacy, which is not conducive to positive community-building.”21:30: Here is Brother Nature’s account on Twitter. And a link to an article about the controversy concerning him as well as his apology. It’s good practice to have all the information and then make an informed decision about where you stand.31:45: Here is Loretta Ross’ article for the New York Times, “I’m a Black Feminist. It’s called “Women and Pain: Disparities in experience and treatment” and it is well worth the read.20:30: For reference, here is an article by Serena Williams about her near-fatal experience giving birth to her child. It is HORRIFYING.30:00: Here is an article about the study Rebekah referenced. In this episode Jessy and Rebekah review a menstrual cup that allows you to have sex with the partner of your choosing while you’re on your period without ruining anyone’s sheets! And then WTMV welcomes their first guest, Lucy Frank! Lucy is about to graduate from Duke School of Nursing and visited WTMV to talk about appropriate use of pronouns in a medical scenario and, really, in life. And then Jessy, Rebekah and Lucy played a celebrity themed drinking game with T-Rex arms? You’ll have to listen for details. 0:39: Jessy and Rebekah (but mostly Jessy) offer a completely unpaid review of SoftCup. It’s great. We (mostly) love SoftCup. But, Dear SoftCup, please sponsor our podcast. Okay thank you. 7:40: Rebekah’s sister Lucy comes to WTMV to talk about the appropriate use of pronouns in the world but, more specifically, in a medical context (FYI: she’s a nurse). Welcome to Welcome to My Vagina, Lucy! 15:30: Watch Jessy’s amazing video called “Intersex Basics.” It’s all about the fact that gender exists on a spectrum and how people oversimply everything to make it easier to fit those they interact with into neat little boxes. But we all know that life is never easily categorized. People are complicated and that is what makes us amazing. So watch her video. Also, read Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. Eugenides wrote this book because he was dissatisfied with the way literature and history dealt with intersex anatomy and emotions. Read it and then let’s talk about it. 17:30: Say it with us: being transgender is not a problem. 19:20: “Vanessa Goes to the Doctor.” This video is EVERYTHING. 23:30: Here is a link to Duson Spectrum, the Gay-Straight Alliance at Duke School of Nursing. 24:30: Here is a little information about “Let’s Talk About Sex!” It’s an interactive workshop for healthcare providers and students to get used to, you guessed it, talking about sex! All in an effort to make it more comfortable for the provider as well as the patient. 27:00: Ethan Cicero is awesome. He wrote an incredible, and deeply troubling, article about the barriers to care for transgender people that everyone should read. Seriously. Read it. His efforts have shed much needed light on this issue and are hopefully leading to higher educational standards across the medical community. 29:50: Lucy gives us some really wild statistic about victims of sex trafficking. It’s horrible. We all have to do better but health care providers are oftentimes the only people outside sex trafficking rings that come in contact with victims. Contact us! Watch us! Love us!
