Right as the commercial aviation industry gears up for the 2024 edition of the Farnborough Air Show, I got on Zoom with Jon Sindreu, one of the top journalists out there that knows the industry best.Perhaps because, in addition to his strong focus on aviation, Jon covers also range of sectors through the popular “Heard on the Streat” section on the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), he is able to offer a no-nonsense view from outside the aviation industry bubble. So, my idea for this episode was to review, together with Jon, some of the key macro trends that are shaping the commercial aviation industry: the future of the OEM duopoly, increasing consolidation in the European airline sector and, very importantly, the race to decarbonize the industry. Is there going to be enough SAF around to comply with the different governmental and EU mandates? How to get more SAF to the market fast? And, last but not least, is advanced air mobility the disruptive technology that we are being told it will be or is it all just hype?If you are looking for a fresh and outspoken voice on these matters you will possibly like Jon's very straightforward talk. So, join us in this conversation in which we try to leave no stone unturned!

Derek Streat, Founder and CEO of DexCare, has created an orchestration platform that helps manage healthcare's demand and supply sides. As a data-driven intelligence company, the focus is on allocating limited resources to drive maximum productive utilization for all stakeholders. While there are often conflicting goals, using large data sets, risk models can be developed to meet the needs of patients, providers, and payers and better manage access to and cost of healthcare. Derek explains, "For the benefit of providers, patients, and health systems, those resources must be allocated. Those precious resources, with limited time and quantity, need to be allocated in a way that makes them the most productive utilization of those resources. We all know that, again, the reason that we often have to wait a long time to get access to care. Whether it's sitting in a waiting room in an ED or waiting weeks or months to get access to a specialist, the reason that happens is often there's a misallocation or misalignment of how those resources are allocated to patients. We figured out a way to do that better so that the capacity of those resources can be extended in a way to service more patients." "The sad reality of one of the major rate limiters in healthcare access these days is that there aren't enough skilled people around to take care of all the people that need to be taken care of. And with an aging population and people living longer and all those things, the human resources we have only go so far. This is also in the face of declining numbers, declining enrollments in medical institutions, etc. And so, you've got to have technology to help extend the capacity of doctors, nurses, and so forth, who are taking care of folks." #DexCare #SocialDeterminantsofHealth #SDOH #AccesstoCare #VirtualCare dexcare.com Listen to the podcast here

You're also more open-minded and creative, which can lead to new and innovative ideas. So if you want to be a successful leader, start by being curious. Een gesprek over poëzie, rap, kwetsbaarheid, Pepijn's fascinatie voor straat en waar de metafoor het broodje köfte in het concertgebouw voor staat.
Rebecca Scott of STREAT is a socially-responsible and refreshingly quirky role model for our times. A self proclaimed 'hustler’ since childhood, Bec sees the value in everyone and everything. What's more, she knows how to bolt it all together to build an egalitarian vision that contributes to the social betterment of our world. With 11 social enterprises under the STREAT banner, Bec's quest to provide a sense of belonging and hope to our youth -- catalysed by the simple question “whose problem is that really?” -- will inspire and challenge you in equal measure.
Food trailers are one of my tips for the biggest opportunities in 2021. I'm joined this week by an entrepreneur who is a veteran of the food trailer game & now teaches people how to set up their own business. Seany was inspired by his travels across the globe to bring the idea of street food back to Ireland & make it accessible to all. We hear how he started selling tacos at country music festivals to becoming one of the biggest suppliers of food trailers in Ireland.

Today on Moments of Clarity, I speak to Rebecca Scott.Rebecca Scott is one of the most driven, compassionate and innovative community leaders I have had the pleasure of meeting. Bec, along with her partner Kate, co-founded STREAT, a social enterprise that works to help end youth homelessness and disadvantage. STREAT offers disadvantaged youth aged 16-25 a supported pathway from the street to a sustainable livelihood. The success of STREAT is incredible. Since 2010 STREAT has trained and supported over 800 young people, and helped serve meals and coffees to over 2 million customers. This is only the beginning with the goal to help a young person every single mealtime by 2022. That's 1095 people each year. What drives somebody to make such an impact? What lessons can we learn from someone who has absolutely aligned their actions with their values? I was absolutely honoured to have Bec share her journey with me. Bec and I discuss social enterprise as a model for positive change, the systemic issues we often face in society, the importance of trust, the power of our decisions, our need for belonging, why diversity matters and what our future might look like through the lens of an optimist. We also hear about Bec’s personal journey about coming out as queer in a conservative family as well as her many other experiences and beliefs. UXAUS2019 Day 1 Bite-sized activism for STREAT! Helping reduce our environmental footprint collectively How do you massage small, discrete chunks of volunteer time into a program that creates something bigger than the sum parts? That's the question we asked ourselves when we set up a Human Centred Design (HCD) community volunteer framework to support STREAT's Planet Plan knowing that many people want to volunteer time to something that serves a higher purpose but has limited time available to commit. STREAT is a hospitality-based social enterprise that provides supported vocational training and holistic personal support to young people aged 16-24 who really need a hand. While we are working on maximising our social footprint we're also working hard to minimise our environmental footprint as part of an ambitious Planet Plan! In this talk, we'll share our “bite sized” volunteer framework and how we've been applying it to formalise a Planet Plan and for the first time to help solve a challenge: How to recycle, reduce and eliminate single cup, bottle and can use through a Human Centred Design and product innovation approach. For this challenge we've been working with universities, people with available volunteer days and individual HCD practitioners who have a few hours they can contribute. We'll share what's gone well in modifying traditional HCD activities and the things we want to improve on. We'll also tell you what happens when you morph a design "sprint" into a "relay". And, we'll share some of the interventions and prototypes we've come up with including behavioural design nudges, product innovation and closed systems for re-usable coffee cups.

Passionate social entrepreneur Rebecca Scott is, quite simply, an unstoppable force. She is the founder of STREAT, a multi-venue hospitality organisation whose traineeships change the lives of vulnerable young people. A scientist by training and with no experience in hospitality or social work, Rebecca founded STREAT in 2009 after a simple meal in Vietnam changed her life.

Donors say they want the line by line itemisation about where there money is going, but do they really want that? And should donors even be telling social enterprises where to spend their money? That's just a couple of the questions we jump into with the STREAT team as they launch their second crowdfunding campaign
In Episode 1, Rebecca Scott tells us the story of how they took a donation of $4,000, transformed it into $80,000 crowdfunding campaign and launched their new $160,000 social enterprise cafe

Four years ago, Daniel Flynn had a big idea. Some would say an epiphany. Appalled to read that 900 million people had no access to safe water and equally angered by the idiocy of bottled water in a country where the tap is safe to drink from, the 19-year-old university student wanted to do something. He decided to start his own bottled water company (as if that market place wasn't already over-crowded!) that would channel all its surplus revenues into funding water projects rather than making a profit. This is another inspiring story of starting a business and doing the world of good. Not unlike my fireside chat with another social entrepreneur in Rebecca from Streat late last year. PLUS in this episode of the Small Business Big Marketing show I help listener Christian promote his local bookkeeping business having been made redundant from his full-time job PLUS I share what's happening inside the Small Business Big Marketing Forum. In 2008 Rebecca Scott left her long-standing job as a Scientist at the CSIRO and co-founded Streat - a Melbourne-based social enterprise that sells delicious food and coffee whilst providing homeless young people with hope, self-belief and the opportunity to get qualified in hospitality. As Streat's tagline suggests - Streat stops homelessness the delicious way. Whether you're looking to start a social enterprise yourself, wondering how you can integrate some social responsibility in your small business or just love an inspiring story then you're going to love hearing what Rebecca has to share. This is a wonderful story of how you can start a business, make some money and do the world of good along the way. Listen up!
