This month we are honored to have William Beckmann join us for the Talkin' Texas podcast. William is a country music singer-songwriter and musician from Del Rio, Texas. Having gained popularity touring in the regional Texas music scene and self-releasing four extended plays, Beckmann signed with Warner Music Nashville and subsequently released his major label debut, Whiskey Lies & Alibis, on June 20, 2025. His music is a fusion of neotraditional country, with influences of red dirt, tejano, New Mexico music, and traditional pop, with critics noting his signature crooner-style baritone voice. Beckmann has toured with Parker McCollum, Randy Rogers Band, Charley Crockett, Radney Foster, Flatland Cavalry, Midland, and Hank Williams Jr.
In just 5 years, Goldfinger Brewing Company has made Downers Grove, Illinois a true destination for lager-lovers and much of that is to the credit of founder, co-owner, and head brewer Tom Beckmann's tireless quest to make the most interesting lagers you'll ever drink. Tom sits with us for a while to sample through some new and upcoming beers while discussing why telling the stories of his lagers is a key part to reshaping the perception of the category. We also talk about his recent Polish medal for a Polish-style beer, how his first brewing jobs set him up to start his own business, what moves a brewery into the “CollabZone”, which brewers he admires the most, and what specialty serving events could be in Goldfinger's future. Plus, get the exclusive on his first Citra and Mosaic beer, and marvel at the fact that I don't think we ever said the word “decoction” once. (No lies told here.) Ryan Beckmann: Breaking the Silence with Hockey | The Hopeaholics PodcastIn this gripping episode, we dive deep with guest Ryan Beckmann, a Canadian-born former junior hockey player whose life story is a testament to the power of recovery. Ryan opens up about his harrowing experiences with childhood trauma, starting with abuse at age five that shaped his struggles with addiction, mental health, and a skewed perception of intimacy. From building a multi-million-dollar RV dealership empire to losing it all—along with a $3 million debt—Ryan's journey took him from the streets to rehab after missing his children's milestones. He shares how a chance connection with NHL legend Theo Fleury, whose book resonated with Ryan's own pain, led to a life-changing charity hockey event aiming to raise $1 million for mental health initiatives like Canucks for Kids and Puck Support. This episode explores Ryan's reconciliation with his father after nearly a decade of silence, sparked by shared trauma, and his ongoing healing through Celebrate Recovery and faith.
