Mr. Sprained Ankle's seventh studio LP lands at midnight Drake has announced his follow-up to last year's Certified Lover Boy. It's called Honestly, Nevermind, and it arrives tonight at midnight. The rapper announced the news in an Instagram post today (June 16). Find that below. Drake released his sixth studio album Certified Lover Boy in September of 2021. The LP shot to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, overtaking Kanye West's Donda with what was at the time the biggest debut week of 2021. The LP includes the Right Said Fred-sampling, Young Thug and Future-featuring “I'm Too Sexy” and the 21 Savage and Project Pat-featuring “Knife Talk.” It also includes an R Kelly co-writing credit. Just days before the album's release, he shared an unreleased Kanye West and André 3000 track—featuring a Drake diss—on SiriusXM's Sound 42. West—now legally known as “Ye”—would later invite Drake to appear as his guest at a previously unannounced December 7 event intended to aid in the release of Gangster Disciples co-founder Larry Hoover. CLB is the full-length follow-up to 2018's Scorpion. In between those two LPs, Drake dropped Dark Lane Demo tapes, which landed last year, as well as his 2019 compilation Care Package. source: https://pitchfork.com/news/drake-releasing-new-album-honestly-nevermind-tonight/ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/masseffect/support

Rick recalls his determination to get free despite having a life sentence. Dave informs the audience about Breakbeat's upcoming Larry Hoover life story podcast series and provides an update on Larry Hoover's current legal situation. Rick visits a vegan restaurant in Washington, DC and he and Dave discuss the idea of reviewing vegan spots around the country. In the show, Oso is recovering from a stab wound and Lucia uses cocaine to numb the pain. Rick points out that dentists used to use cocaine and then novocaine, a “cousin” of cocaine. Teddy has used his “super powers” to locate Alejandro's rebel camp in the Nicaraguan jungle and somehow figures out that the kid there is a spy. Teddy forgets that he has a son, so Rick and Dave talk about their own experiences and how it can be necessary to make sacrifices when you are focused on pursuing your dreams. Franklin and Leon have a body in the trunk that suddenly awakens, reminding Dave of the opening scene from the movie Goodfellas. The hosts acknowledge the passing of actor Ray Liotta and talk about the recent school shooting in Texas.
Dave Mays was once looked at as the Michael Jordan of hip-hop publications, and… he's back! As a 19-year-old sophomore at Harvard, he founded The Source magazine, which began as a monthly newsletter, eventually becoming one of the world's longest-running rap/hip-hop magazines.Mays had a vision to put hip-hop on the forefront of all genres and succeeded immensely turning his newsletter into a full-fledged publication. That ride ended in 2005, when he and Raymond “Benzino” Scott were forced out in a dispute with investors.Understanding today's needs, Mays returns with Breakbeat Podcasting network, which will host several culturally diverse podcasts with a variety of hosts. Mays also hosts his podcast, “The Dave Mays Show.”Breakbeat will also produce docuseries, starting with the “Unsigned Hype,” a popular series in The Source magazine that introduced several hip-hop and R&B acts. He also plans a series on Gangster Disciples leader Larry Hoover.
In the next few episodes I'm bringing you to Shreveport Louisiana. Over the last ten years the folks down there have become my family, the city has become my heart. Goat and Bamm are two of the most beloved, feared, and respected people in the history of the city. They tell the story of the Bottoms, a once legendary and vibrant neighborhood known for music, wild celebration, and tragic violence. The Bottoms was ultimately wiped off the face of the earth by the federal government. Goat, Bamm and the rest of the notorious Bottoms Boys gang were sent to decades in prison. Goat did more than 17 years of federal time while Bamm was recently released from the Super Max in Florence, Colorado where he spent over 30 years with prison mates such as El Chapo and Larry Hoover. Bamm and Goat are two of the wisest and most evolved people I know. I have endless respect for the code in which they live their lives, and limitless gratitude for their friendship. They both are sacred to me. I hope you learn as much from them as I have. Thank you. Jon. After watching episode 7 of Snowfall (“Lying In A Hammock”), our co-hosts Dave and Rick break down all of the excitement and intrigue that this new episode brings. Rick first recaps his trip to Chicago earlier this week where he had a chance to hang out in person with Dave. They talk about Larry Hoover and one of Rick's childhood friends who ended up in Chicago and became very close to Hoover. Hoover is the subject of an in-depth narrative podcast currently being completed by Breakbeat Media. Rick notes that Leon has shown restraint in trying to broker peace with Kane, and how real that is. Rick talks about how he connected with OGs like Kane and how that helped him expand his influence and reach. The audience gets a solid dose of Hip-Hop history as the hosts discuss Tam's Burgers, and provide some unique insight on Suge Knight, Eazy E, Dr. Dre and Harry O. Auntie Louie is emerging as a ruthless leader, even as she is surprised when Uncle Leon presents her with a huge diamond engagement ring. It turns out that Peaches was a heroin junkie. Rick speaks about why he stayed away from that drug and how cocaine was different because it was a “celebrity” drug back in those days. They get into a conversation about the stigma surrounding mental health treatment in the hood as we see Uncle Jerome going through some deep, reflective moments. Leon and Uncle Jerome are both shown looking to give back to their community. The hosts discuss the difficulties and dangers of staying connected to the hood even as an individual reaches greater levels of financial success and societal clout. The remaining 3 episodes of this season of Snowfall look like they are going to be super-intense as the drama and tension spreading across all of the main characters is really taking shape. Stay tuned to After The Snow for the exclusive insights and analysis you will only find here. Peace.
