Anne is a veteran political journalist who is currently a reporter for The Wall Street Journal. Prior to this, she wrote a nationally syndicated column for Newsday and was twice named “Columnist of the Year.” Over her career, she has won more than 25 writing and reporting awards. Anne Michaud s'entretient avec Alexandre Hamel de la compagnie de danse sur glace Le Patin Libre lors de son passage à Ottawa en mai 2019 où il présente le spectacle Threshold, une coproduction de Danse CNA, au Minto Skating Centre. Alexandre nous parle de ses 20 ans de patinage artistique suivis d'un rêve qu'il réalise avec une énergie rebelle de faire du patin avec une approche culturelle. Une première résidence en France puis une autre soutenue par Sadler's Wells résultent en la création de Vertical Influence présentée à Londres ainsi qu'au Théâtre de la Ville (Paris) et au Centre national des Arts.

Anne Michaud s'entretient avec Honji Wang et Sébastien Ramirez, tous deux chorégraphes, interprètes et codirecteurs de la Compagnie Wang Ramirez, à l'occasion de leur passage au Centre national des Arts, en novembre 2018, pour présenter leur pièce Borderline, une réflexion sur les relations humaines et les frontières sociétales. Honji et Sébastien parlent de leur découverte de la culture hip-hop et du break dance, de leur rencontre à Berlin en 2005 et de la formation de leur compagnie en 2013. Ils discutent de la vitesse hallucinante à laquelle leurs vies se déroulent depuis lors, enchaînant les chorégraphies, les prix et les tournées, y compris le Rebel Heart Tour de Madonna. Ils nous donnent un aperçu de leur processus de création et terminent l'entrevue en exprimant le désir de vouloir ralentir la cadence pour faire le point sur leurs carrières et réfléchir à des moyens de rejoindre le public qui ne fréquente pas les grandes salles de spectacle où ils se produisent actuellement.

À 70 ans, en forme resplendissante, Paul-André Fortier s'entretient avec Anne Michaud, un mois avant la présentation au Centre national des Arts en octobre 2018 de sa plus récente pièce, Solo 70, une coproduction du CNA. Il danse accompagné sur scène de la guitariste Jackie Gallant et du comédien Étienne Pilon, qui lit des textes d'Étienne Lepage, coauteur du spectacle. Paul-André aime s'entourer de jeunes créateurs de disciplines autres que la sienne, être déstabilisé et déstabiliser, et travailler avec des artistes qui le tirent vers le haut, comme l'ont fait Françoise Sullivan, Rober Racine et Betty Goodwin. À l'aube de la fermeture de sa compagnie Fortier Danse-Création, après 40 ans d'existence, il souhaite demeurer une source d'inspiration et inculquer le sens de la rigueur et du dépassement de soi aux jeunes chorégraphes et interprètes. En terminant, il nous raconte, entre autres, l'origine de sa grande passion pour la danse et la chorégraphie, et l'hommage qu'il compte rendre aux membres de sa compagnie.

Pour cette baladodiffusion de Danse CNA l'animatrice invitée Anne Michaud s'entretient avec Frédérick Gravel de passage au Centre national des Arts en avril 2018 pour la présentation de son spectacle Some Hope for the Bastards de concert avec un ensemble impressionnant d'interprètes et de musiciens. Frédérick, lui-même chorégraphe, danseur, musicien et éclairagiste, nous explique son processus de création et son rapport avec la musique rock et celle de Bach. La plupart de ses productions témoignent de sa fascination avec l'échec et la vulnérabilité, et de son envie de voir l'humain agir et réagir. Son engagement aux arts vivants le pousse sans cesse à explorer, allez plus loin et, surtout, à faire vivre une expérience à son public.

Directeur artistique de Daniel Léveillé Danse et chorégraphe L'animatrice invitée Anne Michaud s'entretient avec Daniel Léveillé, grand chorégraphe et pédagogue canadien, lors de la présentation de sa plus récente création Solitudes duo au CNA, en février 2018. Il nous décrit sa philosophie et son processus de création, son écriture chorégraphique, le rôle que la musique joue dans ses pièces, et nous fait part de son grand respect pour ses danseurs, qui interprètent des œuvres excessivement difficiles. Il aborde le retour, dans Solitudes duo, d'un costume autre que la nudité, qui caractérise Daniel Léveillé Danse. En terminant, Daniel parle brièvement de sa prochaine création.

L'animatrice invitée Anne Michaud s'entretient avec Louise Lecavalier, muse et interprète, quelques semaines avant la présentation au CNA, au début d'octobre 2014, de So Blue, la toute première chorégraphie qu'elle signe officiellement. Louise décrit le cheminement qui l'a amenée à devenir chorégraphe, et le processus de création de cette nouvelle pièce en deux parties.

Anne Michaud s'entretient avec la jeune chorégraphe montréalaise Virginie Brunelle lors de son passage au Centre national des Arts du Canada pour présenter sa pièce Complexe des genres. Cette œuvre novatrice, créée en 2011, lui a valu un prix au Aarhus International Choreography Competition et a été choisie comme spectacle d'ouverture à CINARS 2012. Virginie explique comment est née sa passion pour la danse et décrit l'appui qu'elle a reçu de Dave St-Pierre en tout début de carrière. Elle nous parle ensuite de sa compagnie, son équipe de danseurs, son processus de création, ses œuvres, et ses sources d'inspiration. Anne l'amène à partager son point de vue sur la situation précaire d'un artiste dans le milieu de la danse. L'entrevue se termine sur les plans d'avenir de Virginie et sur ce qu'elle souhaiterait pour progresser.

Anne Michaud conclut son entretien avec Anne Plamondon, qui nous raconte les débuts du Groupe RUBBERBANDance, véhicule qui lui permet de se distinguer en tant qu'interprète. Elle discute ensuite de son premier solo Les mêmes yeux que toi, chorégraphié et interprété par elle-même, qui explore le thème de la maladie mentale, et du rôle que Marie Brassard, actrice, auteure et metteure en scène, a joué dans le processus de création. L'entrevue se termine sur ses plans d'avenir.

Dans ce deuxième épisode, Anne Michaud poursuit son entretien avec Anne Plamondon. Cette dernière réoriente sa carrière d'interprète en quittant Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal pour se joindre à la compagnie de ballet contemporain Nederlands Dans Theater II des Pays-Bas où elle danse les œuvres de plus de 30 chorégraphes dont Jiří Kylián, Paul Lightfood, Ohad Naharin, Nacho Duato, Gideon Obarzanek et Anjelin Preljocaj. Au bout de cinq années, elle quitte NDT II pour le Gulbenkian Ballet du Portugal. Elle rentre à Montréal en 2000 et rencontre Victor Quijada. Ensemble ils fondent le Groupe RUBBERBANDance qui a pour mission de faire le pont entre la danse formelle et le hip-hop.

Dans ce premier de trois épisodes, l'animatrice invitée Anne Michaud s'entretient avec Anne Plamondon, interprète et codirectrice du Groupe RUBBERBANDance. Elle était de passage à Ottawa en février 2014 pour présenter sa première œuvre chorégraphique, Les mêmes yeux que toi, dans le cadre du mini-festival Face à Face du Centre national des Arts du Canada. Anne Plamondon nous explique comment elle en est venue à danser et nous parle de son bref séjour à l'École nationale de ballet du Canada, suivi de huit années de formation en danse classique à l'École supérieure de danse du Québec.

Anne Michaud conclut son entretien avec Guillaume Côté, qui évoque la naissance, très tôt chez lui, du désir d'inventer des pas. Il raconte aussi que pour grandir comme artiste et pousser plus loin ses compétences en danse, il s'est lancé récemment dans la chorégraphie. Il a par ailleurs réalisé le film Lost in Motion, visionné plus de 1,3 million de fois sur YouTube, pour toucher les gens et motiver les jeunes garçons à envisager une carrière en danse.

Dans ce premier de trois épisodes, l'animatrice invitée Anne Michaud s'entretient avec Guillaume Côté, danseur étoile du Ballet national du Canada, de passage au Centre national des Arts du Canada à la fin janvier 2014 pour la présentation du Lac des cygnes par le Ballet national. Guillaume explique ce que ce ballet représente pour lui. Il nous parle ensuite du mode de vie d'un danseur de ballet et de la blessure qui l'a empêché de danser pendant un an. Enfin, il décrit son initiation à la danse à l'âge de 4 ans à l'école de danse Prisme culturel de Lac-à-la-Croix (Québec).

Louis discute ensuite des défis à relever et de ses plans d'avenir qui incluent Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Rodrigo Pederneiras et Nacho Duato.

Sa décision d'en faire le miroir de ce qui se passe en création de danse au Québec, au Canada et à l'international le pousse à faire appel, entre autres, aux chorégraphes Mia Michaels, Crystal Pite, Aszure Barton, Trey McIntryre, Rodrigo Pederneiras et Barak Marshall, question de faire évoluer la compagnie et de la démarquer tout en la gardant attrayante tant pour les néophytes que pour les connaisseurs de danse.

Dans ce premier de trois épisodes, l'animatrice invitée Anne Michaud s'entretient avec Louis Robitaille, directeur artistique de BJM – Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal, de passage au Centre national des Arts du Canada en mars 2013 dans le cadre d'une tournée marquant les 40 ans de la compagnie. Louis nous parle de ce qui l'a amené à la danse et de sa carrière de danseur avec les Ballets Jazz de Montréal et Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal. Il nous révèle la raison qui l'a poussé à créer la compagnie Bande-à-part. En 1998, Louis devient directeur artistique des Ballets Jazz de Montréal peu après avoir subi une troisième blessure au genou durant les répétitions d'un ballet d'Edouard Lock.
