This week on the Carolina Snowflakes Podcast we're wondering why Republicans don't know they're the bad guys. It seems to us that if your side of the political aisle is home to Nazis then you're most certainly on the wrong side of things. One would think it was obvious. Assuming Republicans do know they're the bad guys, do they even care? That said, we're not letting Democrats off the hook entirely either. Not that we consider Dems to be bad guys, but more so they're the guys currently not getting things done. We're in possession of the Holy Trinity; the trifecta of power (Presidency, Senate, House), yet we're not doing away with the filibuster? WHY NOT?! Cause we're too busy passing the woo-woo talking stick and catering to each other's fee-fees. That's why. Also, why can't (or won't) the Dems play dirty like our GOP counterparts? Both parties show up to the poker game, but while the Dems play by the book, the Republicans are counting cards and stacking sides. We aren't playing the same game at all folks. C'mon Democrats, get it together before the bad guys take over again. We'd also add that there's really no better way to distinguish which party is good and which is bad than by looking at the economy. Modern history tells us that when Democrats hold the presidency, the U.S. economy fairs better than when the GOP is at the helm. We're talking regressive taxation v. progressive taxation, protectionism v. fair trade, and supporting businesses v. supporting people. Tune in to laugh along at some really good points about “Good Guys” v. “Bad Guys” and how those matches tend to play out, whether in wrestling, in movies or in our own government. BONUS: Stick around to the end of the show to hear a very funny 50th episode mic-check involving 2 cats and a fake plant. Reference: Amadeo, Kimberly. Ashley Dean is a South African dancer and a First Artist at the Royal Ballet in London, which is the premier ballet company in the UK. I was just blown away by her love & talent for dancing, her grit, her bravery in dropping out of school at the age of 15 in pursuit of that dream, her love of family and unwavering trust & faith in God no matter what came her way. Ashley, I'm in awe of you & feel so privileged to be able to feature you on this podcast! *Who is Ashley Dean?* Ashley Dean grew up in Johannesburg, where all the little girls did ballet as a hobby. But it was an international competition she attended at the age of 15 that proved to be a turning point for her. She realised that if she was serious, she would need to put in a serious amount of hours practicing, and even dropping out of school with no guarantee of even entering a ballet company! *English National Ballet* We talked about the experience of applying for ballet schools & also the experience of moving all the way to London to be with the English National Ballet. And thereafter, how she got into the Royal Ballet and being on the pilot scheme of the Aud Jebsen Dancers Program, which was a complete miracle! *Life at the Royal Ballet* The life of a professional ballerina is quite unlike any other career I know of! And we talked in depth over: * Dealing with perfection, when it is something expected from you every single day; * Handling the injuries & constant pain that are part and parcel of a dancer's life * The way she manages her diet given her strenuous schedule; * Balancing said career with her family life; * How she got into the Aud Jebsen Young Dancers Program; * The magical backstage world that the audience never sees; * Her faith; and * How COVID-19 has impacted her & the ballet world. *Bonus* Stick to the end of the interview to find out how you can get a free backstage pass to the Royal Opera House! *Show notes* https://www.sothisismywhy.com/6

The Kinky Tauntaun 11: How to Fix the X-Men Film Franchise I. Bryan Singer is DONE! DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD! Contracts have expired! Now what? a. Buchacha’s Five Fixes i. Plan for a shared universe. This includes interlocking arcs with Deadpool, New Mutants, X-Force, X-Factor and various incarnations of the X-Men teams through the years. Plan an FX or FXX show detailing the early years of the X-Men with Xavier, Beast, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, and Angel. This would allow more thorough dissection of the main group and less haphazard treatment of Magneto and Xavier. Plus, the sibling dynamic of both Charles and Juggernaut and Scott/Alex. Show is meant to be five seasons, culminating with the rise of the Phoenix entity. Future solo movies: more Deadpool and Wolverine (Havok/Wolverine: Meltdown!), of course, Gambit & Rogue, Storm (Lifedeath) Future shows: Excalibur (with Nightcrawler and Kitty Pryde…plus the others) Dazzler & Longshot ii. NO ORIGIN STORIES. NONE. Story takes place in modern day. Most X-Men should be early/mid 20’s, with maybe one younger, one older. iii. Adapt existing storyline closely, a la Batman: Year One became Batman Begins. My vote is for something terrestrial at first (space/Mojoverse later), something like iv. Be true to the characters = look at Deadpool; Be true to the villain(s) v. WRITING! WRITING! WRITING! Find a screenwriter who actually, truly gives a shit about crafting a worthwhile, poignant story that give the MCU a run for its money. Also—bring in Chris Claremont as executive producer and consultant. vi. BONUS: WEART THE FUCKING COSTUMES (or some close approximation) vii. DOUBLE BONUS: Quit trying to make every fucking X-Men movie a Wolverine movie. b. Jeff’s Five Fixes I. Break Buchacha’s rule about only a 7 member team. If you look at the history of the different X-Men lineups the magic number seems to be about 11 members. This can also allow the X-Men to be divided into Blue and Gold teams when necessary, because Blue and Gold is big and bold. II. Fox needs to sell to Disney or at least needs to get along for crossovers like Sony did with Spiderman in Captain America Civil War. III. If you’re not going to put in the work setting up the Dark Phoenix backstory than don’t bother trying. IV. Adapt storylines from the comics as faithfully as possible. V. Get as many former X-Men comic writers to review the screen play and then listen to their advice. VI. Bonus: Stick to the personalities and backstories establish in the comics; if a character needs their own origin movie to not seem 1 dimensional, do it. VII. Double Bonus: If a character seems 1 dimensional but doesn’t call for their own origin movie then introduce their backstory with Xavier in a telepathic psychiatry session. Or two introduce some humor have Deadpool break the 4th wall and walk in from off screen and narrate a flashback. II. The Team a. Rules: i. Seven Members limit, relying on precedent set by Giant-Sized X-Men #1 (with Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Thunderbird, Colossus, and Sunfire) ii. No Sausage Fest—must have ratios of 4-3 or 3-4 iii. No Deadpool; No characters likely to show up in a New Mutants or X-Force movie
