We get the impression that Ian Camfield though, would rather lose a limb than return home. He's and XFM legend - there from the start and through the glory days which we hard about in part one of this two-parter. In this second part though, we cross the pond to the good ol' US of A where we hear the crazy circumstances of how he got his first gig over there; the cut-throat world of American radio; and a man called Don Belucas. He's and XFM legend - there from the start and through the glory days - but plies his trade in the US nowadays... but more of that in part two. In part one we concentrate on the Camfield origin story, including which Radio One behemoth invited him into his (very loud) studio when he was just aged eight, and started him on his stellar career trajectory. Also find out how the stigma of working on a certain station almost meant his XFM dream died before it had even started, and which kings-of-rock asked him to help get their personal trainer a US visa. This is part one of two, so keep an eye out for the second on this very feed. Fly fishing has always been more than a hobby for me—it's a way to connect with nature, find clarity, and build community. That's why sitting down with Eric Camfield and the Altar Fly Fishing team was rewarding. Eric shared how Altar hosts retreats that combine faith, fishing, and reflection to help people find direction in life. Whether supporting Navy SEALs, pastors, or individuals seeking renewal, Altar's mission is about catching a bigger vision for life. For those of you who have followed my work for any length of time now, you know today's guest is one of the nearest and dearest to my heart; the one and only Rachel Camfield.  Rachel is an artist, writer, coach, and podcast host of The Mother's Embrace Podcast. Her work focuses on normalizing real-life conversations and embracing the journey of purposeful transformation. She loves all things home and treasures her family. Her original art can be found in mom-and-pop shops nationwide where she couples encouragement, art, and jewelry in collaboration with the woman-run and woman-owned handmade leather brand, KEVA. Her passion is for helping others with creative ideas, deep devotion, and authentic connections. She has over 10 years of experience in writing, design, coaching, sales, and speaking. She lives outside of Richmond, Virginia with her golf-pro, Ted Lasso-ish husband, two children, and their tiny 4-lb toy poodle, Wally. Rachel is one of the most deeply creative souls I know. In this episode we talk about the need for vulnerability in our lives, honoring our journeys, and where our art fits in to it all (especially during life changing seasons such as having children or going through a global pandemic.) I'm honored to have her as a guest today and can't wait to hear what your biggest takeaways are!  In this Episode You'll Learn:  [01:06] All about Rachel Camfield [04:50] The season of life Rachel is currently in and what has been opening for her in motherhood and her soul. [08:54] Rachel's artistic process  [11:39] Rachel's he vulnerability of putting our art out into the world. I don't think I took an art class in college. So everything I've done has always been self-taught.” [12:11] “No matter if it's a snail's pace or it's not going like I thought it would or I want it to, I still would choose exactly what I'm doing. I would choose exactly what I'm doing. And that is like a breath of fresh air.” [16:39] “For me, the reason motherhood is the lane of my life, is because it is my greatest teacher, it is the way I can navigate some of the most challenging dynamics and topics.” [21:33] “if it speaks to you, and it speaks to the life that you feel called to live, then by making it a part of your space and a part of your home, it's not only going to touch, you will touch the other people that get to come into your life..” [27:27] “I'm a very emotional person, yet I have had to learn in parenting, and in marriage, and in business, all of it, I cannot let my emotions run the show.” [30:45] “I believe that when you take personal ownership, it is the bravest thing that someone can do. And if you have someone who's taking personal ownership, and they're also choosing to break a cycle, they're choosing to lay a new foundation for their life and for future generations.” [42:04]   Connect with Rachael:  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rachelcamfield/?hl=en Website: https://www.rachelcamfield.com/ Better boundaries: www.rachelcamfield.com/betterboundaries Connect with Amber Facebook: Amber Lilyestrom  LinkedIn: Amber Lilyestrom Email us at: hello@amberlilyestrom.com       Resources Rachael's podcast: The Mother's Embrace Podcast. Hello and welcome! Today, we are celebrating one year of The Mother Embrace Podcast, and I want to give back to you amazing listeners that have been incredible throughout the year and that kept me going. I am wishing you a Happy Mother's Day to you if you celebrate and lots of love from me your host Rachel. In this episode, I put together a workshop. This is for the person who has their own idea who is ready to step out in a new way, who maybe has their own business or if they're ready to launch, or if they're just ready to be on their own in a new way and feel like they want some help and accountability with that because it can be very scary sometimes putting yourself out there when you're trying something, launching a new thing, creating, working on yourself, or having goals. It can be very scary at times to be consistently putting yourself out there, especially if we are not used to doing things on our own. Someone else isn't going to do it for us, we have to step out.   So, in this episode, you're going to get a FREE recorded workshop with me. This is for the person who has their own idea, who is ready to step out in a new way, who may have their own business and they're ready to launch it. In this episode, I get down to it and give you exactly what I do and share with you seven simple steps so you can rinse and repeat with all of them. Grab a notebook, save this episode, come back and share it with a friend! Let's get started! In this Episode You'll Learn:  [09:46] Putting yourself out there [13:15] Three things I've learned from putting myself out there. [13:49] You will see the vision before anybody else. (Lesson 1) [16:4] Growth is slow (Lesson 2) [19:03] Consistency really is satisfying (Lesson 3) [22:04] Putting yourself out their workshop: get to know the Little quick seven [23:14] Introduction to Little quick seven [23:24] Start the top idea [26:05] Sharing your vision with a few close people [26:38] Getting to work [32:50] come up with silica list, Top 10 Top 10 list of people you could have on your vision [35:39] Launching the idea [39:17] Sticking with the idea after launching [40:37] Relaunching the idea [41:36] My advice to the relaunchers out there [44:07] My favorite shows in this podcast [47:53] My special gift to you   Quotes:  “Social media is a wonderful tool, if it's used that way. Where it gets sticky and it gets tricky is when it starts consuming you. Consuming your vision of what you're doing or consuming even the way you look at yourself.” [10:03] "You will see the vision before anybody else… You have to get comfortable realizing and setting the correct expectation that you are going to be carrying this torch, this little match, before anybody else." [14:16] “So really sharing a vision, it is really, it's telling the story to someone else. But that story, the heartbeat of it is going to come from that person caring about you, understanding you, knowing you knowing your story. Adding your story to this vision, that is how it spreads.” [14:58] “If you've got slow growth, then you're going to have a much more established root system.” [18:45] “You can still be all or nothing and be consistent, meaning: make the goals work for you.” [19:50] “You will learn more by doing than you ever will thinking about something.” [22:34] “The spectators in your life are rarely ever going to be where you're going get your support from. “[26:42] “Literally someone is standing there holding a microphone for you ready for you to take the mic. But you have to be the one to get up out of your seat and walk up onto that stage and grab that mic and start. No one can do that for you.” [29:04] “The right people are going to hear the right things.” [30:00] “You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.” [34:20] ‘Don't let your highs be too high. But don't let your lows be too low. Stick with it and just tweak as you go.” [39:30] Links: Follow Rachel on Instagram: @rachelcamfield Follow the podcast on Instagram: @themothers.embrace Rachel's Website: https://www.rachelcamfield.com/ Rachel's Links: https://www.rachelcamfield.com/welcome Share Your Story: https://bit.ly/tmeshare  For Educators: https://bit.ly/tmeforeducators  Ask a Question on the podcast: https://forms.gle/PN4d6LVqPGgMfzhM8   Course: Better Boundaries
