Ales for ALS has been an amazing partner for breweries all around San Diego. With their yearly collaboration beers dropping during May (ALS Awareness Month), Weir Beer hadn't opened their doors in May of '24 but it didn't stop them from taking that hop blend and making their own ALS beer as soon as they could! Katie Bar Pale Ale uses the 2024 hop blend with a custom Weir malt backbone and the two make a crushable hoppy pale. Kyndall also tells us where the name Katie Bar comes from and why it's so important for Weir to back ALS awareness.

Less than 24 hours until the kick off of the Capital of Craft Fest Saturday at Kilowatt Brewing and Erick and Estela from The San Diego Brewers Guild have brought a stunner of an IPA. Necta Wave Cold IPA from Gravity Heights is an immaculate demonstration on what can be achieved with Water, Barley, Yest and Hops when you put it in the hands of a set of skilled San Diego Brewers.
Our tour of San Diego county beers continue with the San Diego Brewers Guild and the countdown to Saturday's Capital of Craft Fest! Today we drop into San Marcos' Blue Fire Brewing and their very local White Sage IPA.
Half way through the week and another day closer to The San Diego Brewers Guild, Capital of Craft Fest on Saturday! Today VP Estela and member of the Kilowatt team as bought a very unique kettle sour beer that has won the brewery a number of awards, their Peach Cobbler (and yes, it taste just like mom's peach cobbler).
It's Super Tuesday and the San Diego Brewers Guild brought a super beer to the party! This years Capital of Craft IPA! Brewed in collaboration with Fall, Black Black Plague, BLAH, Hodad's, Hopnonymous, Ketch and a few local vendors. This is a picture perfect example of what the San Diego West Coast IPA has evolved into!
San Diego Beer Week is in full swing and it all wraps this weekend with the Capital of Craft Festival. All week Erick and Estela from the San Diego Brewers Guild joins us for a tour of San Diego County beers and will give us some insight on what to expect this weekend. Our first stop in this tour of beer is San Marcos' own My Yard Live and their 4 Stone Cold Dudes Pilsner.
Its the kick off of San Diego Beer Week and Andrew from Mother Earth Brewing gets the first toast! Debuting a beer that we tried very recently as a R&D beer, Ascent makes it's way into the world officially for the Capital of Craft Fest but we get to try it first now.
Bonus Beer time! Today not only kicks off San Diego Beer Week but also MEBC's Fresh Hop Fest. Tapping three fresh hop beers, on of which is this year's edition of Fresh As It Gets featuring a hop so fresh and new that the brewers stayed late to accommodate the hop delivery schedule so this beer really is as fresh as it gets.
T'was the night before Beer Week and all Hallows eve. Not a brewer was stirring, not even a leave...of delicious hops that rest in the kettle of a West Coast IPA, to test a brewers metal. Chris Banker was the one to put it all together, but name he ran out of when he started this endeavor. He tried and he tried to conjure it's title but gave up and said "we straight outta names!"
Hey, we just saw Bay City in the studios a few weeks ago! Rob and Austin are back to talk about their newest beer they are dropping tonight and their Hockey seasonal Power Play IPA that they brew for the the San Diego Gulls season. We've got the inaugural batch of that beer on deck tonight!
I didn't expect something this blue when Hayden and Kyndall opened up the crowler of Haterade but this already very popular hard seltzer has a tribute and a story behind it that Kyndall shares in this SDBW bonus segement!
Apologies to Camfield and Mady since the Alt 94/9 studio smells like we just hot boxed it. I promise no weed was harmed in the drinking of Weir Beer's "I Don't Get Angry When My Mom Smokes Pot" IPA! A well balanced beer and a ridiculous amount of terpenes makes this IPA a real treat to enjoy as Weir officially opens their brewery on Friday for the kick off of San Diego Beer Week.
We're counting down the days to the kick off of San Diego Beer on Friday, all week we'll be hosting different breweries in the Alt 94/9 studios. To kick things off we have Embolden Beer and their currently seasonl beer Dark as Day Horchata Golden Milk Stout.
Since we've got the time and William from Embolden beer brought an extra we're going to try a BONUS BEER! Under their new sub-brand Shogun, Embolden has crafted a first ever Macha Hazy IPA called Shogun - Midnight in Tokyo! Hear about it's origins and how it was received in Tokyo.
We got to hang out at Casual Pint Northshore during Craft Beer Week! Shout out to Aaron Carter for allowing us to use your audio "Toss Me a Beer" Make sure you follow all his music and social media! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wakingupinabrewery/support

Growing up in the nearby city of Lincoln, in my late teens day trips to nearby Nottingham held a great deal of anticipation and promise. While my hometown felt, in some ways, culturally deficit, Nottingham had it all—namely venues such as Rock City and The Rescue Rooms where I could see the touring bands I loved. Although, when I eventually moved away from Lincolnshire, so too did I remove myself from the culture of the Midlands, and this absence continued as I began exploring beer. Last year, however, I was presented with the opportunity to visit the city's annual craft beer week, after being invited to talk about my book, Modern British Beer, at one of the many events happening around town. I was also offered an opportunity to record a podcast at the office's of Leftlion, the local music, arts and culture magazine that is behind both Nottingham Craft Beer Week, and the annual beer festival that forms the centerpiece to these events. In this bumper-length roundtable discussion I chat to Aimee Harbison of The Barrel Drop pub, Lucy Simons of The Abdication micropub, Alex Wilson of Black Iris Brewing, and Josh Mellor of Neon Raptor Brewing Co. It's a fascinating conversation that digs into one of the most exciting beer scenes in the UK—and one that, for some reason, doesn't quite get as much coverage as other, more vocal cities. What I found, however, is that the locals know exactly how good it is, so it was a delight to chat to some of the folks who are making Nottingham such a destination city for great beer.Special thanks to Jared Wilson for inviting me down to Nottingham, and arranging this podcast. Tickets for this years Nottingham Craft Beer Festival are available now, and with the lineup of breweries already signed up, I'd highly recommend paying it a visit. Welcome to Buzzed with Brian! On this episode, we welcomed back a couple familiar voices. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Garth Beyer (again), Certified Cicerone and business owner of Garth's Brew Bar, during the 2nd Annual Monroe Street Craft Beer Week in Madison, WI. Garth created this collaborative week, bringing all the great businesses on Monroe Street together to celebrate beer. Garth and Brian talk shop about the Madison beer scene and get to enjoy conversation with Peter Schroder of Starkweather Brewing Co. and Ty Golackson from Working Draft Beer Co. One last thing, Garth put the podcast to the test with a draft “Mystery Beer Challenge”, and oh was it fun! This week, Beer Sessions Radio is heading out west! Jimmy sits down with Joanne Marino from the Bay Area Brewers Guild in San Francisco, California, and Kim Sturdavant from Pacifica Brewery in Pacifica, California, to hear about California Craft Beer Week, running from February 12-21. Having to pivot due to COVID-19, Joanne explains how she expanded SF Beer Week into a collective, calling it California Craft Beer Week. This February, leading stars from all over the California region have joined together to share their passion for craft brewing and regional ingredients with their communities. For Kim at Pacifica, customers can enjoy a variety 4-pack paired with spectacular food to celebrate Beer Week. In addition to Beer Week, Kim gives us a sneak preview of an IPA he’s working on with a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reference, as well as some beer-wine hybrids he’s excited about. The brewing scene in the Bay Area is definitely eclectic, and each neighborhood has its own unique identity. The Drinking Partners welcome Jess Hickey of Greensburg Craft Beer Week for a discussion on all beer related happenings in Westmoreland County. Featuring 16 breweries from across the county and 30 homebrewers, Greenburg Craft Beer Week will take place September 20-28. With a focus on community and craft, the festival hopes to showcase local businesses and restaurants around the greater Greensburg area during their 9-day event. Each day offers an exciting, beer-centric event around the Greensburg area, from brunch to trivia to the Brewer’s Double Dare; the festival itself is September 22. Ms. Hickey shares her extensive knowledge of both beer and business as she talks about planning the event, the actual beer itself, and the Greensburg community. Greensburg Craft Beer Week combines all three. To read more about the events and to purchase tickets, visit: http://www.greensburgcraftbeerweek.com/.
It's the middle of Ontario Craft Beer Week! The event started on June 8th and ends on June 16th. The province-wide festival is putting the spotlight on the independent, local craft beer industry of Ontario and is being organized by Ontario Craft Brewers. The Ford government has cited the problems that craft brewers have in getting retail shelf space As one of the reasons for cancelling their contract with the Beer Store. There are 276 craft brewers in 110 communities across the province. Another 80 are coming. The industry employs 2200 people and they say there are 9000 related jobs. Craft beer has just under 9% of the beer market and the industry claims it generates 1.4 billion a year. Libby Speaks with Jeff Dornan, Chairman of the Ontario Craft Brewers Association, and Jon Laurencic of Elora Brewing Company.
Jim Quist @ACCTheQ - It's American Craft Beer Week. Excuse enough for you to find out what adventures your friendly, neighborhood craft brewer has in store for your taste buds. But, honestly, do you need an excuse? What goes better together than sports and beer? I spoke with Craftbeer.com's Program Digital Content Editor, Andy Sparhawk to find out what Craft Beer Week is all about. He provided a few reasons why you should expand your drink list. Plus, we share their list of 'Great American Beer Bars' located in the United States of ACC Nation. It's one we should all put on our own personal to-do list. It would be easy for me to say, I've never met a beer I didn't like. The reality is my palate would strongly disagree. Essentially, I like both food and drink that meet a higher standard. It doesn't mean I won't indulge in something as simple as a burger but even the standards for a hamburger can be raised to something special. I can name a few places that specialize in hamburgers that meet that standard and exceed it. Why not enjoy, right? That's where I stand with beer. Specifically, craft beer. I participated in a tasting of several craft beers the other day using judging standards. It was enlightening and a great exercise. To say my fellow participants are great fans of craft beer would be an understatement. They also have discerning tastes. Did we all like everything we tasted? I'll leave that answer in your hands. American Craft Beer American Craft Beer Week is a great opportunity to discover something new, something outside the norm. For a first timer unfamiliar with craft beers and looking for an adventure be sure to visit Craftbeer.com. Take advantage of their 'Find A Brewery' link. Heard This Week's ACC Nation Podcast? Know what you like? Fantastic. Or, you can ask for a recommendation from the bartender. If not, try a flight. Start with the lighter colored samples and work your way to the dark. Indulge in the aroma of each beer. Take a small taste. See where it takes you. If it isn't your thing then move on to the next. Life's meant to be an adventure and that includes beer. In this case you'll find it in craft beer where every day for brewers is a new adventure. Looking For A Brewery? Here's the short list of 'Great American Beer Bars' found in ACC Nation states. Charlotte Beer Week is back this year with some new locations and new events planned. Lindsay Sprick is one of the organizers of this year's festivities and joins us to break down all that's happening. Be on the lookout for more details for this year's Charlotte Beer Week March 29th through April 7th. The post Episode 237 – The 2019 Charlotte Craft Beer Week appeared first on Cheers Charlotte Radio | Craft Beer and Homebrew Podcast.
We celebrate the inaugural Michiana Craft Beer Week the best way we know how - with a bottle share. Eric from Bare Hands Brewery and Casey from Bleachers
St. Louis has no shortage of breweries, but there was a shortage of specialty bottle shops when Justin Harris and Ryan Griffin opened their doors in 2015. In just three years, St. Louis Hop Shop has expanded into a bigger store front on Cherokee Street carrying hundreds of different beers. But for these two brothers, it's not just about bringing beer to the people of St. Louis, it's about building a community.
St. Louis isn't just a city, it's a region. That's never been truer than when you're talking about beer. Old Bakery burst onto the scene in 2015 and has continued to make waves since. From their home in the Alton, Illinois bluffs, the certified organic brewery has made beer people crave, and shown up in tap houses, bottle shops and brewpubs across the metro area. It's a far cry from what James Rogalsky envisioned when he and his wife started Old Bakery, but bringing quality beer to St. Louis from a place most people in the city overlook is a point of pride.
Mike Sweeney started St. Louis Craft Beer Week 10 years ago and has watched it grow into a destination event over the last decade. Now at 2nd Shift Brewing, Mike remains one of the driving forces behind St. Louis' burgeoning craft beer scene. Taking stock of the incredible event he started, and the ever-expanding beer community in our city, Mike sat down with Meet St. Louis to talk about how far the Gateway City has come as a beer tourist destination and how we can play a role in the future of beer culture.
Schlafly Brewery has been around since 1991, a long time in the craft beer world and they’re still working to innovate and shape the future of craft beer. Emily Parker started as an intern and is now the operations manager. She talks to Meet St. Louis about her start in the beer industry, the science behind crafting new beers and why it’s important for more women to get into the craft beer industry.
Craft Beer Week is here! To celebrate, Meet St. Louis is doing a full week of beer-related episodes. Today we have a preview of our chat with Mike Sweeney, who created St. Louis Craft Beer Week 10 years ago. Mike talks about how the event grew, how the city's beer culture has exploded, and why St. Louis is a destination beer city.
We were in the studio today with Bonnie Landy & Holly Redding from Winchester Brew Works to talk about Winchester Craft Beer Week and Hop Blossom. Winchester Craft Beer Week is a premier series of craft beer oriented events to be held at restaurants and craft beer shops in Winchester, VA. Each venue will offer a different craft beer and be hosting an event featuring that brewery. The event kicks off on Saturday, June 2 and culminates with the Hop Blossom Festival on June 9, 2018. You can get more information about all the events happening throughout the week on their website: https://winchestercraftbeerweek.com/ or on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/winchestercraftbeerweek. In it's 6th year, Hop Blossom will be held June 9, 2018 in Old Town Winchester from 12pm-6pm focusing on craft beer education and exposing participants to the growing popularity and love for great craft beer. This year will feature 40+ breweries, live entertainment, 6th annual homebrew competition and more!
