Chana Studley suffered for decades with allergies, asthma, cystitis, IBS, chronic pain, and PTSD before discovering something that turned her experience around. Today, she's an inspiring author, coach, and speaker, living life with a quiet mind and a (mostly) symptom-free body. In this episode of The Living Well Pod, Chana shares her journey through years of searching for solutions, trying everything from meditation to iridology to chiropractics, and the profound transformation she experienced when she discovered that her well-being wasn't dependent on finding a “fix.”Together, we explore how our thoughts shape our experience of pain and illness, how a busy mind can amplify physical symptoms, and how we can find relief and a quieter mental state without doing more. Chana's insights are a powerful reminder that whether or not our circumstances change, our experience of them can shift dramatically.Episode Links:Find Chana Studley online at https://www.chanastudley.com/Chana's books: The Myth of Low Self-Esteem, Painless, Very Well, Beyond Diagnosis (affiliate links)Coaching with Samantha: https://transformative-psych.comConnect with us on Instagram and FacebookJoin our Substack communityTheme music from #Uppbeathttps://uppbeat.io/t/ben-johnson/cant-stop-chasing-youLicense code: LTNISOMTFHZIIXYY This is a public episode. Ecology concept. Rising sprout on dry ground.Life with chronic pain often leads to a rabbit hole of seeking new treatments, new doctors and any sense of hope that life will get better. Live with pain long enough and that rabbit hole becomes deep and wide, where the belief of self and of your capabilities diminishes..to the point of believing that you and the body you live in, are truly broken. In this episode I am joined by Chana Studley to discuss some key pain facts related to improving pain:A) All injuries healB) We live in a thought created world 100% of the time, andC) We don't need to do anything to fix our thinkingYou are not broken and you are innately proficient in changing your pain you just need a little guidance to help get you there.Next steps:Connect with me for a free 20 minute exploration of what you're doing right now and what next steps could be by clicking HERE.Join our free community exclusively for chronic pain warriors (for warriors by warriors) by clicking HERE.If you enjoyed this podcast, please consider leaving a 5 star review on Apple Podcasts by clicking HERE (it would help spread the message to those who could really use it!).
When Chana and I spoke for this recording, it was right at the beginning of the current conflict in Israel and Chana lives right in the heart of Jerusalem. This speaks volumes for the kind of person she is - giving, calm, centred and willing to share her insights so that others may benefit. In this episode we talk about her illustrious career in Hollywood, the extreme trauma and injury she experienced which left her in great physical pain, her 10 year Perimenopause which included horrendous brain fog, "like thinking through molasses", and the difference between feeling depressed and suffering from depression, which many of us understand first hand. Chana's most recently published book, 'Very Well' is a novel about Menopause. And it makes for a fascinating read. She weaves the way she healed her debilitating pain into the stories of the characters so that the reader can understand how to move through life with less suffering and more joy. She has another book on the way - so get yourself on the list! You can find Chana at https://www.chanastudley.com and @chanastudley on IG on LinkedIn and where ever you get your books.

You might not think of peri-menopause or painful periods as being traumatic, but any woman who's experience one or both knows how debilitating they can be both mentally and physically. The brain fog, the forgetfulness, the lost work days, the concern that you're losing your mind, the stress about all these weird symptoms you're suddenly experiencing, the ridiculously heavy periods, the pain. All of these things lead to one thing: stress. And stress leads to mental and physical sickness. Chana Studley talks to us about how we hold trauma and stress in our bodies, how our natural human tendency is to focus on that stress / pain / trauma, and how much that negatively impacts on our lives. She also talks about how we can move beyond all that! This is fascinating, insightful and informative listening. Come and join us and let us know what your thoughts are on what we talk about. In this episode, I have a conversation with Chana Studley who is a coach and author of 2 books, and with more to come. She has her fair part of chronic pain and also a great understanding of how the Mindbody connection works, and that the deeper we understand that, the painless our lives can be. After 3 very violent attacks in Manchester and London, Chana Studley suffered severe PTSD experiencing years of anxiety and stress. “It was like my brain just blew a fuse and then everything went quiet.” After this remarkable transformation, she trained to be a counselor and has spent the last 30 years helping others recover from trauma, addictions, and working with all kinds of clients, adults, and children who want a deeper understanding of their own experience. She is now working with people with all kinds of health issues, chronic pain, eczema, IBS, migraines, etc. Once we understand what is happening the fear starts to go away and we find the missing piece that points us back to our innate wellbeing and health. Chana is an author and has lectured around the world on pain. Raised in the UK, she now lives in Israel and works as a first responder for the World Health Organisation, providing psychological assistance to people who have suffered or witnessed traumatic events. It was fascinating to talk to her and she has already got me thinking differently about how I personally experience pain. Find out more at chanastudley.com.

Chana Studley and I connected relatively recently via social media. She and I are both in the 3 Principles community with passions in holistic health and the mind body connection. Chana has a fascinating story, which is to some degree recounted fictionally in her book, The Myth of Low Self-Esteem. In this conversation we discuss her past traumatic experiences and how she has largely transcended the debilitating physical pain that she felt for years as a consequence. Chana’s current work is influenced by Dr. Sarno’s work with TMS (tension myositis syndrome) and the teachings of Sydney Banks and the 3 principles. Some important takeaways include... Chana’s experience of being mugged 3 times and almost dying How tension myositis syndrome (TMS) is really just “too much stress” Why reading a book, like Dr. Sarno’s “Healing Back Pain” can work to reverse symptoms The risk of dwelling on pain and symptoms, and what to do instead The power of understanding where pain and stress really come from You may also be interested in these episodes... Today, we’re doing things differently: I invited a guest who does not believe in the existence of the subconscious mind. Chana (pronounced Hannah) believes in thoughts that are only in the moment, never in the past. This thinking got her to eliminate 25 years of chronic pain she endured due to three very traumatic situations she suffered about 35 years ago. A previous Academy winner turned author, speaker, and life coach, Chana now helps people with chronic illnesses or diseases to get rid of them by simply changing their thoughts. We also talked about: Why she left a successful Hollywood career The myth of low self-esteem Our belief systems that causes us to think people with degrees are somehow better Her own successful study to help people with chronic pain Why the subconscious mind is just a concept.
