Read OnlineEternal Love and JoyJesus said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love.” John 15:9–10Imagine being loved by someone with a perfect love. Perfect love has no bounds, and experiencing it would be the source of indescribable joy. Now imagine further that the one who loves you is all-powerful and all-knowing. When combined with being all-loving, there is no limit to what such a relationship can do in your life.Of course, we do not need to only imagine such a love; we can receive that love from God. Jesus' words are deep, personal, and intimate: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you.” His love for you is not conditional, limited, or selfish. When He says to you, “I love you,” He means it with every power of His divine soul. Jesus beautifully describes His love for us: “As the Father loves me…” The love the Father has for the Son is so deep, perfect, and all-consuming that we cannot fully comprehend it, even in Heaven. For all eternity, we will gaze with wonder and awe at this shared love and never tire of contemplating it. What's more, the love between Father and Son is so strong that it cannot be contained within Themselves. Their love overflows in superabundance, pouring out upon us, inviting us to enjoy perfect fulfillment within it.Jesus' next words are both an invitation and a command: “Remain in my love.” God's love for us is far more than an emotion or affectionate concern. His love is a gift of His very Self, drawing us into communion with Him. To “remain” in His love means to live, move, and exist in His presence. Divine love is transforming, enduring, and life-changing. It unites us to the divine Lover and establishes the life-giving communion for which we were made. After inviting us to remain in His love, Jesus clarifies how we can receive His ongoing and transformative gift: “If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in His love.” At first, these words might seem challenging, especially when we consider our fallen nature and tendency toward pride. Yet they only feel burdensome if we misunderstand His commandments. In order to fully embrace Jesus' commandments, we need to see them for what they are: expressions of pure love gushing forth from the shared love of the Father and the Son. Note that Jesus doesn't ask anything of us that He Himself was unwilling to do. His love for the Father was perfect because He kept the Father's commandments. What did the Father command the Son to do? He commanded Him to love with a selfless, sacrificial love, culminating in laying down His life for us.If we want to receive God's love and share in its perfection, we too must love—just as the Father loves the Son, the Son loves the Father, and they both love us. Like Jesus, we must become an unconditional gift of self for others. This is the nature of true love.By becoming an unconditional gift of self, we do not become anyone's savior; rather, we allow the one true Savior to touch others through us. True love is divine. It does not originate within us but flows from God to us and through us. If we attempt to keep that love to ourselves, it is extinguished.Reflect today on the perfect love within the Most Holy Trinity. Hear Jesus invite you to share in that perfect love on the condition that you become an instrument of it for others. This is His commandment: “Love one another as I love you” (John 15:12). Only in this way will we share in the perfect joy God desires to bestow upon us for all eternity. My loving Lord, Your love is perfect, all-consuming, and transforming. Your invitation to remain in Your love is an invitation to share in Your very life, the life You share with the Father and the Holy Spirit. I accept Your invitation, dear Lord, and vow to keep Your commandments so as to become an instrument of Your love for others. Jesus, I trust in You.  Image: Stained glass of Jesus at the right hand of GodSource: Free RSS feed from catholic-daily-reflections.com — Copyright © 2026 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved. Episode 697 - Rae Dumont - In the Shadow of Silence - A Novel of love and joy leading to the descent of untreated depression and unbearable lossIn this episode, author Rae Dumont shares the inspiration behind her novel In the Shadow of Silence, a story drawn from her decades as a pediatrician and family therapist. Living in a New Jersey suburb near Manhattan, Dumont explains how the book demanded to be written, capturing fundamental truths about families facing mental health struggles, particularly depression. Influenced by James Baldwin's commitment to truth, she focuses on relational dynamics rather than specific events, portraying no person as an island. The novel centers on Lyman, a man battling depression, and his family's emotional turmoil—anger, guilt, inadequacy, and confusion among his wife Eva and children. Dumont wrote for those suffering in silence, emphasizing they are not alone; help exists through therapy, medication as an adjunct, couples counseling, exercise, and awareness practices. She highlights how children notice parental moods early, like Lyman's young daughter's tears prompting his initial treatment, and stresses modeling help-seeking as strength, not weakness, to break generational cycles of unspoken trauma and suicide.Family members grapple with mixed feelings, such as frustration when efforts to help fail, and the dangers of stopping treatment impulsively without support. Dumont addresses cultural stigmas, especially for men, urging collaborative monitoring instead of solo battles. Post-tragedy, she advocates space for diverse reactions—fury, grief, or silence—using tools like family mapping to reveal what kids already sense.Key Takeaway: You are not alone in depression or supporting a loved one through it—reach out for help, talk openly, and model vulnerability to foster healing and connection across generations. About Rae Dumont I am a mother, a widow, a friend. As a pediatrician and a family therapist, I have shared in many people's experiences, and tried to help.I hope to bring these lives to the page, and to share what they taught me.This book is for you, if you have struggled with depression. There are people who love you, and reasons to live.If you have tried to help a loved one who does battle with darkness, this book will show that you are not alonehttps://www.raedumontwriting.org/Please read  my blog on SUBSTACKhttps://raedumont.substack. comSend us Fan MailSupport the show___https://livingthenextchapter.com/podcast produced by: https://truemediasolutions.ca/Coffee Refills are always appreciated, refill Dave's cup here, and thanks!https://buymeacoffee.com/truemediaca

In this Carmen Talk, I get honest about why the self‑help industry keeps selling “five easy steps” while real life keeps proving there are none. Love, joy, relationships, purpose — none of it comes from a formula. It comes from knowing yourself, asking the hard questions, and being willing to see where you're lying to yourself or avoiding the work. I talk about why love feels magical at first, why every relationship eventually requires effort, and why trusting your own lived experience matters more than any guru's blueprint. I share what I learned growing up in other people's homes, watching real relationships behind closed doors, and how that shaped my understanding of connection, boundaries, and authenticity. If you've ever felt pressured to “fix” yourself through someone else's method, this episode is a reminder that you already know more than you think. The work isn't about loving yourself — it's about knowing yourself. And once you do, the rest starts to make sense. At the end of the day, it really is all about the joy.Thank you for stopping by.  Please visit our website: All About The Joy and add, like and share.  You can now watch the livestream version of the show on YouTube at @CarmenLezeth You can also support us by shopping at our STORE - We'd appreciate that greatly.  Also, if you want to find us anywhere on social media, please check out the link in bio page. In this Christmas message, Dave explores the profound themes of the advent season, focusing on the powerful connection between God's love and the joy it produces in our lives. Dave looks at the source of love, the response of joy, and the eternal fruit of a life lived in Christ. As Dave points out, love is the ultimate source of the Christian faith, anchored in John 3:16. God's love is indiscriminate and sacrificial; He didn't just provide a philosophy or a set of rules, but sent a person – His son Jesus – to reconcile a broken world. This love is unconditional, based entirely on God's character rather than our own merit or performance. Dave defines joy as the natural response to the gospel, or good news, of Jesus. The Gospel is more than an announcement of a victory already won by a King – it's a secure state of being that remains even during trials, much like Jesus, who endured the cross for the joy set before Him. Dave also highlights love and joy as not being abstract concepts but tangible evidence of a life transformed by the Holy Spirit. He concludes with an invitation to move beyond self-improvement and instead embrace the active, transformative love of God. By abiding in Christ, we are empowered to love others – not because they are worthy, but because we ourselves are so deeply loved. The post Dave Frodsham: Christmas is a time of love and joy first appeared on Jubilee Church Wirral.

In this episode, Fred discusses how in college he got very interested in spiritual questions and read books, learned how to meditate, thought a lot about deeper meaning and opened a vegetarian restaurant in Santa Cruz. After having his first child, he went to graduate school and decided to do his dissertation on the topic of forgiveness, which was something that he struggled with in his own life, describing himself as “dramatically unable to forgive”. He shared that the dissertation was a great success and received a lot of media attention, which set him in this direction in his research. He shared how they went for a secular approach, because a religious approach involved a lot of tribalism, and they were all essentially different portals to enter into the work of forgiveness. They integrated mindfulness and a Buddhist influenced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which were not common in psychotherapy then. We discussed my interpretation of his work and how I've conceptualized is as forgiveness is for you, not for the other person who did the harm. Fred discusses the term “trauma” and how sometimes it is used in situations that may not be trauma, and labeling it that way can lead to blame, rather than the empathy for what one has gone through and allowing the person to cope with their life right now. He discussed how forgiveness can allow us to be more connected to what is happening with one's life, right now, in the present. He shared that an essential part of forgiveness is acknowledging our vulnerability, which never goes away, and accepting that vulnerability and not blaming that which reminds us of how vulnerable we are. He said he learned more about mindfulness from Jon Kabat Zinn, Ph.D. and how when you increase awareness, you increase choice. We discussed his work with people from Northern Ireland, Israel, Palestine, Sierra Leon, Columbia and people after 9-11 and how one of the hardest parts related to forgiveness is when there are different sides, as forgiveness may lead the person's “side” to label them as a traitor. In discussing how to forgive when the person is not safe because they may not be out of the situation, like Israel and Gaza, this lead to a discussion of what makes us safe. He shared that often armoring up, becoming bitter, and trusting others less and being more guarded may feel like it's protecting us, but it also limits our capacity for love and joy. He shared that mindfulness helps us bring ourselves back to the now and in this very moment, we are usually safe. He explained that our threat response overreaches, and combatting that overreach is important to connect us to our present safety and abundance that we may have. He discusses his new workbook, The Forgive for Good Recovery Workbook, that helps people through a process of forgiveness. He leaves us with one of his favorite quotes about forgiveness: "It's giving up all hope for a better past". Frederic Luskin, Ph.D. is a psychologist in Counseling and Health Psychology from Stanford University where he has been teaching for the past 30 years. Currently, he is on the faculty for the Stanford School of Business Executive Education program where he teaches mindfulness, emotional intelligence, psychological safety, and positive psychology to executives from all over the world. He serves as Director of the Stanford University Forgiveness Projects, researching the positive effects of forgiveness for a healthy and happy life. Fred is one of the world's recognized authorities on forgiveness of self and others. He's been interviewed and featured in such media outlets as The New York Times, O Magazine, Today Show, LA Times, Time Magazine, Huffington Post, and CBS Morning News. In addition, he's published 3 books and dozens of articles on forgiveness. His book Forgive for Good is the best-selling secular self-help book published on the topic of forgiveness.

As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. In John's Gospel, Jesus speaks several times about the Father's love for Him. We often emphasize God's love for the world and the church but forget that the Father loves the Son. He has put all things into the Son's hand and has revealed all things to the Son. He loved the Son when the Son died on the cross. The amazing thing is believers today can personally experience that same love. Blessings, Presiding Elder Barbara Hayes WSB | FLSB

We Are Invited to Reflect on Joseph's Extraordinary Journey, As We Contemplate His Struggles Along with His Love and Joy MESSAGE SUMMARY: In this profound exploration of love and divine purpose, we're invited to reflect on Joseph's extraordinary journey. As we contemplate his struggles with an unexpected pregnancy and the weight of raising the Son of God, we're reminded of how God often works in mysterious ways. The story challenges us to trust in God's plan, even when it seems overwhelming or contrary to societal norms. Just as Joseph was called to 'adopt the one who will adopt the world,' we too are asked to embrace our unique roles in God's grand design. This narrative encourages us to see beyond our immediate circumstances and recognize the beautiful symphony God is composing in our lives. It's a powerful reminder that our perceived limitations or fears don't define us; instead, it's our willingness to say 'yes' to God's calling that shapes our destiny. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, God is working His will in my life. (Philippians 2:13). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. However, sin comes into the world necessitating the need for "A Means of Grace and the Hope for Glory", the Christ. 12/4/24 & 12/7/24: In this episode “Hope”, the Holy Spirit's notifies the aging but unbelieving Priest, Zechariah, that his barren wife Elizebeth will give birth to John the Baptizer, who will prepare the way for God's Grace for undeserved Salvation, through birth of His Son. 12/7/24 & 12/8/24: In this episode “Peace”, the Virgin Mary is notified by an Angel that God, through the Holy Spirit, will bless her with the birth of The Christ, the promised Mesiah; and He will be named Jesus. 12/11/24 & 12/14/24: In this episode “Joy”, Elizabeth is visited by her cousin, Mary as they share both the joy of their unanticipated pregnancies and the assume blessing of God's favor for them and the World, the Incarnate Jesus 12/15/24 & 12/18/24: The episode, “Love”, depicts the struggles that Joseph is facing from both his love and duty to an, as yet, unmarried but pregnant Mary. Also, Joseph is coming to grips with burden and responsibility of his early-life fatherhood for Jesus, who is Father God, in a human presence, as God's Son. 12/19/24 & 12/21/24 & 12/22/24: The final episode brings it all together in Jesus' genealogy from Adam to The Christ – proving that Advent and Christmas are a great deal more than what the commercialization of Christmas often implies. We end our Advent journey with “The First Born”  - The Christ!

Have you ever felt like you were walking on eggshells in a relationship? We all know the feeling... we don't want to rock the boat and create chaos and drama, but we also doubt the possibility of experiencing authentic joy here as well because something is being suppressed. It's the elephant in the room that keeps us from feeling free to just be ourself. So we play safe. We play small. We make sure we don't tip into the direction of getting triggered, but we also aren't free to tip in the direction of play and joy. We have a very small range of what is tolerable. While we may fool ourselves into thinking this is what it takes to keep things "good" in the relationship, this narrow range is more like a prison than a safe zone. And it's not just our relationship with others that can operate here, but also our relationship with ourself. Yes, you can walk on eggshells with yourself! In this episode we are going to talk about how to expand our range of emotion, because life is so much richer when we can open up the range of what can be felt and experienced.SHOWNOTES:Use code ONEHEART30 to get 30 days free on the Co Create App and gain access to the guided meditations and Q&A that accompanies this Reclamation of Feeling course.

We waited to share this episode until after her recent pregnancy announcement. See her beautiful video here. If you haven't met Deja before, she is a wife, sister, friend, creative, mover, and motivator. She began her career as a dancer, performing with Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, J.Lo, and Beyoncé. She pivoted into teaching workouts and is now a global ambassador for Lululemon. She's also a podcast host for her new show, Dose of Duality where she encourages her listeners to “be a light & spread love where you go”. Deja is the definition of life, vibrance, and determination. We discuss everything from her career in the dance world, to pivoting to fitness, life as a New Yorker, finding and fostering love, and her fertility journey. She opens up about her journey with infertility and the toll it can take on a relationship with your partner. This is such an honest and beautiful episode filled with hope, authenticity, and light.
