Pato ha compartido escenarios con David Bowie, Eminem, Kanye West, 50 Cent, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Molotov, Todos Tus Muertos, Bersuit Vergarabat, Fobia, Maldita Vecindad, Illya Kuriaky and the Valderramas, La Mala Rodriguez, Violadores del Verso, Delinquent Habits y Caifanes.Síguenos en redes:http://instagram.com/cableatierrapodhttp://facebook.com/cableatierrapodcasthttp://instagram.com/tanialicious Hosted on Acast. When discussing the pioneering figures of what would eventually come to be known as Chicano Rap, there is perhaps no group more iconic and more revered than A Lighter Shade of Brown. Formed in Riverside, CA, in 1990, when ODM (One Dope Mexican, born Robert Gutierrez) was introduced to DTTX (Don't Try to Xerox, born Bobby Ramirez); the duo was part of an explosion of Latin Hip-Hop groups and artists to rise to prominence in the late 1980s and early-'90s; joining the likes of Mellow Man Ace, Kid Frost, Proper Dos, Aztec Tribe, Hi-C, Delinquent Habits, Fundoobiest, Psycho Realm & Cypress Hill among a cavalcade of others to rise to prominence in the early part of the decade. Over the course of nine years, the duo released a string of five albums and provided songs for films such as Mi Vida Loca, Bulletproof and I Like It Like That and penning some of the most iconic songs in the Chicano Rap sub-genre. While the duo didn't quite become household Hip-Hop names, or reach the level of mainstream success as some of their contemporaries; Lighter Shade of Brown was nonetheless a groundbreaking duo that not only helped break down barriers for Chicanos in Hip-Hop during the early 90s but Latino emcees of various backgrounds across the nation. Having paved the way and helped create an entirely new lane for modern Chicano rappers to follow Lighter Shade of  Brown's status and contributions to Hip-Hop are forever cemented in their music and their legacy; their music is still enjoyed by countless fans to this very day. We had the chance to talk with ODM and discuss the origins of the group, the history behind some of their most iconic songs, the rise, decline, and resurgence of Lighter Shade of Brown, as well the days leading up to DTTX's tragic passing in 2016. With that said, we are proud to present the twelfth episode of Step Off! Radio with ODM of Lighter Shade of Brown.

It’s here! Podcast 100!! Nine years in and still going strong. Though I should add, this episode may have been my most difficult ever.    The genesis came from a discovery made a few months back while going through old boxes back home in Texas. My mom came across three mix cassette tapes I made back in 1998. That summer, at 16, I went on an off-road / camping / wilderness adventure trip to the northern tip of Australia. It was amazing but there was a lot of driving so they told us to bring mix tapes. It was basically my first podcast episode! In addition to finding the tapes, I also knew where to find the journal I kept during the trip. A journal (handwritten in cursive!) that I had never reread and that I knew featured a lot of focus on a girl I met. So, sure to be embarrassing but probably also a good read. With tapes and journal in hand, I thought I had podcast gold and the episode would write itself. I was very mistaken on that front, which I discuss in the episode. It came out great though. Very happy with this milestone episode. There are some classics on there.    In addition to finishing episode 100, I have also finished making Spotify playlists of all 100 podcast episodes. You can find them all at ActiveListener. There are songs missing from almost every episode and I have tried to note that in the playlist details but overall it's pretty good. They work as great seed playlists for further discovery and Spotify generated radio stations. Also, for those that want to go deeper on the Australia mixes, I made playlists of each tape in it's entirety.    I hope you all have a great New Years! Producer/rapper Scoop Deville & Hellfyre Club rapper Rheteric Ramirez join MC Nocando & Jeff Weiss this week to discuss the history of latin contributions to Hip-Hop. They start off by talking about several Latin Hip-Hop pioneers such as DJ Disco Wiz, Prince Whipper Whip, The Mean Machine, and Prince Markie Dee of The Fat Boys. Then they explore the West Coast Latin rap boom by talking about Mellow Man Ace, Julio G, Kid Frost, Cypress Hill, Psycho Realm, MC BLVD, and A Lighter Shade of Brown. Next they bridge the gap between the West Coast & East Coast by talking about Delinquent Habits, Big Pun, The Beatnuts, Fat Joe, and N.O.R.E. Finally, they make their way down South as they talk about Baby Bash, Chingo Bling, and South Park Mexican. Plus, we’re treated to some tracks by Scoop & Rheteric.
