DECADES-OLD MYSTERY OF SOMERTON MAN SOLVED - A TRUE CRIME AND COKE QUICKIE The Tamám Shud case, also known as the Mystery of the Somerton Man, is a partially solved case of an unidentified man found dead on 1 December 1948 on The Somerton Park beach, just south of Adelaide South Australia. The case is named after the Persian phrase tamám shud, meaning "is over" or "is finished", which was printed on a scrap of paper found months later in the fob pocket of the man's trousers. The scrap had been torn from the final page of a copy of Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, authored by 12th century poet Omar Khayyam Tamám was misspelt as Tamán in many early reports, and this error has often been repeated, leading to confusion about the name in the media. Following a public appeal by police, the book from which the page had been torn was located. On the inside back cover, detectives read through indentations left from previous handwriting – a local telephone number, another unidentified number, and text that resembled a coded message. The text has not been deciphered or interpreted in a way that satisfies authorities on the case. The case has been considered, since the early stages of the police investigation, "one of Australia's most profound mysteries". There has been intense speculation ever since regarding the identity of the victim, the cause of his death, and the events leading up to it. Public interest in the case remains significant for several reasons: the death occurred at a time of heightened international tensions following the beginning of the Cold War; the apparent involvement of a secret code; the possible use of an undetectable poison; and the inability of authorities to identify the dead man. In addition to intense public interest in Australia during the late 1940s and early 1950s, the case also attracted international attention. South Australia Police consulted their counterparts overseas and distributed information about the dead man internationally, in an effort to identify him. International circulation of a photograph of the man and details of his fingerprints yielded no positive identification. For example, in the United States, the Federal Bureau of Investigation was unable to match the dead man's fingerprint with prints taken from files of domestic criminals. Scotland Yard was also asked to assist with the case, but could not offer any insights. In recent years, additional evidence has emerged, including an old identification card possibly identifying the Somerton Man as one H. C. Reynolds and an ongoing DNA analysis of hair roots found on the plaster bust. On 19 May 2021, after a series of requests, the body was exhumed for analysis. Police stated that the remains were in "reasonable" condition and were optimistic about the prospect of DNA recovery. On 26 July 2022, Adelaide University professor Derek Abbott claimed that DNA evidence from hair samples removed from his death mask had proven the man to be Carl "Charles" Webb, born on November 16, 1905, in Footscray, in Melbourne, to Richard August Webb and Eliza Amelia Morris Grace; however, SA Police have not yet verified this claim. How did a night out while just having fun, dancing and being social end so tragically for a young 26-year old woman? In the early morning hours of March 26, 2000, Megan Curl was found brutally murdered in her apartment.Earlier that night, Megan had reportedly gone out dancing at Electric Cowboy in Lufkin, Texas as she often did. There, it was said that she met a few men whom she socialized and had a few drinks with. Megan then went to another club called the Sports Shack, just a little ways down the road from the Electric Cowboy club, where she met another man. Megan reportedly arrived home around 1:30 a.m. and she and her neighbor/friend had a brief conversation outside their apartment complex just before an unknown man pulled up in a car. Upon seeing the vehicle, Megan told her friend that she thought it was the man she had met at the club. The two then disappeared for the night into Megan's apartment.Around 4 a.m., emergency officials were called to her apartment on a report of smoke coming from Megan's building. Within the hour the fire had been extinguished and her burned body was discovered. On January 5th, 1984, 2-year old Tanisha Johnson went missing from her mobile home in Austin, Texas. At the time she disappeared, she was playing outside alone on the swing set while her mother was inside their home cleaning. Minutes later, Tanisha's mother went to check on her to find that Tanisha was longer on the swing and she was nowhere in the area of their home. After an exhaustive search, no sign or trace of Tanisha has ever been found.On April 2nd, 1986, 5-year old Ara Johnson also went missing from her mobile home in Big Sandy, Texas. It is believed that sometime after Ara's father went to check on her that morning around 2AM, someone entered the home and abducted her. Investigators strongly believe that whoever took Ara had some connection to the family or knew of their regular habits. Ara's parents along with another strong person of interest were questioned by police regrading Ara's disappearance. However, Ara's case remains unsolved and she has also never been found.It has been over 35 years since Tanisha Watkins and Ara Johnson vanished from their Texas homes and never seen or heard from again. On August 2nd, 2006, 23-year old Brandi Wells made plans to gather with friends and hang out at a club. She first stopped to visit her mom in Tyler, Texas where the pair chatted for a while and Brandi got dressed for her night out. Before leaving her mother's home, Brandi mentioned to her mom that she was low on cash and gas in her car. Although her mother was not financial able to assist her at the time, this did not stop Brandi from proceeding with her plans as she still proceeded with her plans for the night.Although, Brandi did not mention to her mom exactly what nightclub she was heading to, her mother assumed that she had gone out to a local club in Tyler called the Electric Cowboy. The next morning, Brandi's car was found by a State Trooper on the side of highway I-20 in Longview, Texas. Brandi was nowhere to be found. It was then discovered that Brandi, in fact, had traveled approximately 45 minutes to attend a club called Graham Central Station in Longview.What happened to Brandi that night after she left the nightclub in Longview still remains a mystery. How was Brandi able to drive 45 minutes to away from her mother's home if she was low on cash and gas in her car? Did Brandi really meet up with her friends that night and if so, why hadn't they come forward with information? Why was her car found on the side of the highway with some of her belongings inside, but no trace of her anywhere? Did Brandi meet with foul play the night she left the nightclub? After 16 years of Brandi still remaining a missing person, there are more questions than answers.At the time Brandi disappeared, she stood 4'11 and was approximately 130 pounds. Brianna Lopez This child abuse story is about a 5-month-old little girl named Brianna Lopez. On July 19, 2002 Baby Brianna passed away. Her father and uncle would toss her in the air and not catch her. They sexually assaulted her. Her uncle raped her. They bit her. Her mother threw her, bit her and pinched her. She was bruised and beaten. Her grandmother and another uncle knew about the abuse but didn't do anything. Brianna also had several broken bones. She had bleeding from the brain, broken ribs, bucket handle fractures, all signs of shaken baby syndrome. They beat and raped her time and time again. Her mother "fell asleep" while they killed Brianna. Baby Brianna's Law is a New Mexico law that gives a mandatory life sentence for intentional acts of child abuse and neglect that result in the death of a child under 12. Legislation by Rep. ... According to the Las Cruces Sun News, she says “Every child's life is precious and deserves to be valued equally.” Gabriel Fernandez (February 20, 2005 – May 24, 2013) was an eight-year-old boy from Palmdale, California who was abused and tortured over a period of months that ultimately ended in his fatal beating on May 22, 2013 which led to his death two days later. His mother, Pearl Fernandez, and her boyfriend, Isauro Aguirre, were both charged and convicted of first-degree murder with special circumstances of torture. Pearl Fernandez was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole and Isauro Aguirre was sentenced to death. Throughout Fernandez's eight month stay with his mother and Aguirre, multiple people reported signs of abuse to social workers with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. However, Fernandez was never removed from the household. This led to several concerns over the effectiveness and efficiency of social services in Los Angeles County, and ultimately led to four social workers being criminally charged in Los Angeles Superior Court. Channon Gail Christian, aged 21, and Hugh Christopher Newsom Jr., aged 23, were from Knoxville, Tennessee. They were kidnapped on the evening of January 6, 2007, when Christian's vehicle was carjacked. The couple was taken to a rental house. Both of them were raped, tortured, and murdered. Four males and one female were arrested, charged, and convicted in the case. In 2007, a grand jury indicted Letalvis Darnell Cobbins, Lemaricus Devall Davidson, George Geovonni Thomas, and Vanessa Lynn Coleman on counts of kidnapping, robbery, rape, and murder. Also, in 2007, Eric DeWayne Boyd was indicted by a federal grand jury of being an accessory to a carjacking, resulting in serious bodily injury to another person, and misprision of a felony. THE STRANGE CASES OF DOROTHY SCOTT AND CINDY JAMES EPISODE 21 *Dorothy Jane Scott disappeared on May 28, 1980, in Anaheim, California. She had driven two co-workers to the hospital after one had been bitten by a spider. While they were waiting for a prescription to be filled, Scott went to get her car to bring it around to meet them. Her car approached them, but it sped away; neither could see who was driving as its headlights had blinded them. They reported her missing a couple of hours later, after not hearing from her. In the preceding months, Scott had been receiving anonymous phone calls from a man who had reportedly been stalking her. He had threatened to get her alone and "cut her up into bits so no one will ever find her". *In June 1989, the quiet Vancouver, British Columbia, suburb of Richmond was shocked when a body was found lying in the yard of an abandoned house. It was of forty-four-year-old nurse named Cindy James. She had been drugged and strangled, and her hands and feet had been tied behind her back. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police believed that her death was either an accident or suicide.
