We just passed the 25th anniversary of the Dreamcast's 9/9/99 US launch, and are marking the occasion with a look at five of the strangest and best controllers and accessories for Sega's ill-fated console. Then we'll dive straight into Astro Bot, PS5 Pro, Warhammer 40k Space Marine II, Yars Rising, the Minecraft movie trailer, and your favorite games that got so-so reviews. Question of the Week: What's your favorite Dreamcast game, or favorite memory of the Dreamcast? Break song is My Sweet Passion (Chris Vrenna & Mark Blasques Remix) by Fumie Kumatani, Chris Vrenna, and Mark Blasques. Vidjagame Apocalypse theme by Matthew Joseph Payne.

This week is our 1 year anniversary episode! Last year I put together of assorted Sonic tracks as a test for the podcast before we recorded our first real episode. The recording itself didn't turn out great but I thought it would be fun to dig out the playlist and have a redux episode. Roar who previously joined us for Sonic CD Temporal Duality brought some of her Sonic expertise and we have a fun chat. 00:00:00 Hideki Naganuma - Right There, Ride On 00:02:35 Talk 01 00:10:13 Hideki Naganuma - Back 2 Back 00:12:58 Hideki Naganuma - Jeh Jeh Rocket 00:15:48 Hideki Naganuma - Vela-Nova 00:17:56 Hideki Naganuma - Vela-Nova (Part 2) 00:18:32 Hideki Naganuma - Bomber Barbara 00:20:41 Hideki Naganuma - Wrapped in Black 00:23:37 Talk 02 00:37:36 Crush 40 - I Am... We will continue to broadcast reruns, only that service will now be consolidated into the main Nerd Noise Radio feed, along with the ongoing all new Channel 1, Channel 2, and Channel F releases. You can find the main Nerd Noise Radio podcast feed here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/nerd-noise-radio/id1191401173 You will also be able to find the same content as the main feed on Spotify, Stitcher, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, Pandora, and Vurbl, and of course, we’ll still be around on social media, the Blog, Archive.org, and reachable by email. In fact, since the last time I updated you on the state of Nerd Noise Radio, the Blog, and especially Archive have been reworked to feature the occasional additional content only available there. The Nerd Noise Radio YouTube channel is dormant currently, but will be making a comeback – hopefully in 2021. It is my SINCEREST hope that we will not lose a single one of you to the shutdown of the Buzzsprout feed, and that we will see each and every one of you over on the main feed and/or through the other outlets. But whether you make it over or not, please accept my tremendous gratitude for sticking with me the past four years and into this fifth year of Nerd Noise Radio. The show never would’ve been what it has been were it not for you, the listener And for those who do come over and stick with us, I hope you will enjoy what we have in store. The plan is to continue Nerd Noise Radio through Channel 1 Episode 100, which at our adjusted release schedule, should take us all the way through the end of calendar 2026. So, quite a bit of time left to enjoy each other’s company on our great sonic journey through the winding, twisting, sloping waves....of delicious VGM! Hope to see you there! Cheers! -St. John (Nerd Noise Radio) p.s. Something special planned for December. So don't unsub just yet. :-)

Episode 3 - The Life & Afterlife of the Sega Dreamcast Description: On the anniversary of 9.9.99, we commune with the spirit of the Sega Dreamcast. We mourn together, celebrate its history and examine its corpse. It shouldn't have existed but its disciples won't let it die! Blue Skies Forever! GAME CRIMES is a history project by Mike Bachmann (Greetings Adventures Podcast, Roll for Streetwise) and Jay Munford (SHU Podcast, Poor Skeleton Games) detailing the black market history of video games. Each podcast covers a single topic, provides some historical context and reviews a few games related to the topic. On the GAME CRIMES interactive streams, Mike and Jay answer questions, give how-to demonstrations and play these games for the first time. Feed will include Channels 1, 2, 3, and any future channels not yet planned. Feed will also include podcasts in high quality, stereo where applicable, and episodes will never expire off the feed. Therefore it is STRONGLY recommended that you subscribe to this Nerd Noise Radio feed and bypass all others. This one will contain all their content anyway. Option 2: If you're ONLY interested in Channel 1 ("Noise from the Hearts of Nerds") episodes, and not in any of the other content that is or will be offered by Nerd Noise Radio, there is a Channel 1-specific feed. But it's hosted on a free account, rather than an upgraded account like the "All Channels Feed" with lower quality sound (mono, I believe), a maximum 2hrs per month of content (so if the month's episodes run longer than that, they may need to be trimmed), and episodes expire off the feed forever after 90 days. It is STRONGLY recommended for most listeners to subscribe to the All-Channels feed instead. However, if you really are only interested in Channel 1 content, here's the RSS: http://www.buzzsprout.com/77944.rss Our episodes will also appear on our Nerd Noise Radio YouTube Channel - just search for Nerd Noise Radio, you'll find us! GOTTA GO FAST! Ever since stepping into the battle against injustice, Sonic has been the champion of peace and is renowned the world over for saving it countless times. During his many adventures, Sonic has traveled from the ends of the world to the far reaches of space and time, while facing countless trials that have tested him to the fullest, earning him many titles, allies and the scorns of several foes. Well-known for his legendary cocky attitude, easy-going demeanor and somewhat short temper, yet strong sense of justice, compassion, heart of gold and love for freedom and adventure, Sonic uses his abilities to protect the innocent from his world and those beyond from the forces of evil, especially his arch-nemesis Dr. Eggman (originally Introduced as Dr. Robotnick) , who constantly seeks world domination. Although at this moment, the name has brought many frowns and feelings of false hope to his followers as of late, this podcast is to remember the good music that this franchise has brought to us through the years and remember how amazing this franchise really is. 15 years ago today, the Sega Dreamcast made its debut in Japan (the US release date was famously 9/9/99). This machine left a lasting mark on the world of video games and our hearts. From second screen gameplay to online multiplayer to DLC, the Dreamcast was well ahead of its time. Let’s take this opportunity to examine what made the Dreamcast special, and pay respects to one of the most innovative and amazing systems to ever grace our homes. A system that was ahead of its time and that 15 years later, can now look back on its legacy, and see that it’s the foundation that everything since has been built upon.
