2025 Show Notes Amendment: I love the setup we have here where on the first day of the month, we released our final ever TwoFer Tuesday, and now, here at the last day of the month, we re-release our first ever TwoFer Tuesday! It feels like a wonder twist on "bookends". As always when re-running early episodes, please excuse the atrocious production quality. One of my favorite things looking back on the early episodes of the show is how "different, yet the same" they are. From a sound quality perspective, the differences are night and day in every aspect. But in terms of show format and events, other than missing the now customary summary introduction, and the fact that they've gradually gotten longer over the years, it's the same darned show that it's always been. And what the early episodes lack in polish and finesse and technique and maturity, they somewhat make up for in youthful exuberance and wide-eyed optimism, and a simply innocent fun. You've heard the latest and greatest of TwoFer Tuesday this month, now hear the awkward first baby steps!....different....yet the same.... Lastly, I had toyed with the idea of doing three reruns this month - today's rerun, as well as the two highlighted April Fool's episodes: 2020's "Backtracks" (where all the tracks played in reverse), and 2024's "Parallels" (where all the tracks played over top of each other all at once). But I had procrastinated, and now it's the last day of the month, and it would simply obscene of me to upload three reruns in one day. So the compromise that I settled on was to include links to them here in the show notes, in case you wanted to revisit them (or perhaps experience them for the first time). So, here are the links, Backtracks first, then Parallels. In terms of production value, Backtracks is dramatically better than today's rerun, but also dramatically lesser than our current works, whereas Parallels is very close to our current level of production : https://nerdnoiseradio.podbean.com/e/noise-from-the-hearts-of-nerds-c1e52-backtracks/   https://nerdnoiseradio.podbean.com/e/ch-1-noise-from-the-hearts-of-nerds-c1e83-parallels/ And now, the [otherwise unmodified] original episode shownotes! Feed will include Channels 1, 2, 3, and any future channels not yet planned. Feed will also include podcasts in high quality, stereo where applicable, and episodes will never expire off the feed.    Option 2: If you're ONLY interested in Channel 1 episodes, and not in any of the other channels, there is a Channel 1-specific feed. But it's hosted on a free account, rather than an upgraded account like the "All Channels Feed" with lower quality sound (mono, I believe), a maximum 2hrs per month of content (so if the month's episodes run longer than that, they may need to be trimmed), and episodes expire off the feed forever after 90 days. If this is what you want instead, here's the RSS:     http://www.buzzsprout.com/77944.rss    NOTE: This episode had to be trimmed for the “Channel 1” feed to make it and Episode 3 both fit within the two hour limit for the month. Sometimes you hear about a game and you know you're going to love it. God Hand, released by Clover Studio and Capcom in 2006, is one of those games. Despite hearing about its difficulty (which was true, my hands still hurt), I loved playing this game and it deserves its resurging cult status. Now if only someone could convince Capcom that this is worth remastering. We can dream, can't we? From Zelda on the CD-i to Jasper Carrott's Golden Balls on Wii and DS, it's an absolute treasure trove of nonsense this week. Sorry again for the continued existence of Games Court. Our second of two reruns for the month, and an episode that is easily in my top 20 episodes in show history, and possibly even in my top 15....or even top 10! It's a VERY early episode, so the production value on the intro and outro are TERRIBLE! The arrangement (track order), and  production value of the music block is also not quite up to par with current episodes either, but fortunately, the quality vector on that front is much less profound than it is with the intros and outros. But most importantly, it is an episode where I got incredibly self-indulgent with my track selection choices, and therefore, it features a TON of pieces that are favorites of mine - hence why it ranks so high for me, and will likely still rank quite high when the show finally reaches episode 100 and comes to a complete end (current plans put that day all the way out into Dec 2026).And now, to the track list!Tracklist - Track#, Game, System, Composer, Track Names, Timestamp:  01: Intro - 00:00:00 02: ChipChan-Kick - PCFX - Yoshio Furakawa, Masahara Iwata, and Hitoshi Sakamoto  a) Stage 1 - 00:01:46  b) Stage 4 - 00:05:00 03: Trickstyle - Dreamcast - Richard Beddow  a) USA Race 1 - 00:07:04  b) USA Race 4 - 00:10:54 04: Alien 3 - SNES - Steve Collett  a) Destroy the Eggs - 00:14:04  b) Collect Deliver and Steal - 00:15:11 05: Super Smash Bros Brawl - Wii  a) Tunnel (X) - composed) Kazumi Totaka / arranged) Yusuke Takahama - 00:17:10  b) Marionation Gear - composed and arranged) Masafumi Takada - 00:20:08 06: LED Storm - C64 - Tim Follin  a) Music 3 - 00:22:43  b) Name Entry - 00:25:13 07: Final Fantasy X - PS2 - Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzo, Junya Nakano  a) Challenge - 00:27:58  b) People of the Far North - 00:30:45 08: Dick Tracy - Genesis - Takayuki Nakamura  a) Train Yard - 00:32:55  b) Warehouse - 00:34:25 09: Ninja Gaiden 2 - NES - Ryuichi Nitta, Mayuko Okamura  a) Stage 2-2 - 00:36:24  b) Stage 5-2 - 00:37:39 10: Lovely Planet - Multi Platform - Calum Bowen  a) Lovely City - 00:38:58  b) Lovely Village - 00:41:32 11: Magician Lord - NEO GEO - Hiroyuki Shimizu, Yuka Watanabe, Hideki Yamamoto  a) Stage 2 - 00:44:18  b) Stage 4 - 00:46:43 12: Zelda Twilight Princess - GC/Wii - Toru Minegishi, Asuka Ota  a) Twilight Palace (outside) - 00:48:29  b) After the Battle - 00:51:24 13: Psychosis - TG16 - Atsuhiro Motoyama  a) 1st Cause - 00:53:40  b) 4th Cause - 00:54:58 14: Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty (Dark Legend) - Multi - Seiichi Hamada  a) Gong Shun Sheng - 00:56:46  b) Ruan Xian Wu - 00:59:18 15: Cosmic Carnage - 32X - Hikoshi Hashimoto  a) Cylic (Heavy Armor) - 01:01:26  b) Zena Lan (Heavy Armor) - 01:03:34 16: Sims - PC - Jerry Martin   a) Buying Lumber (Build 2) - 01:05:18  b) Martinis for Two (Latin 2) - 01:10:17 17: Outro - 01:16:42  Music Block Runtime: 01:14:58, Total Episode Runtime: 01:23:09  Our Intro and Outro Music is Funky Radio - Dreamcast - BB Rights

This week, a splinter group of the gang takes a peek at the Vita/mobile game DanganRonpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, a visual mystery novel [game], the type of thing that's all the rage in the Japanese scene and trickles of which we see with other Vita games in particular such as Virtue's Last Reward. In essence, DanganRonpa plays as a fast-paced Ace Attorney game. From this crazy game there has spawned mobile ports to iOS & Android, two manga adaptations, full-on novels (yes, the written word), a TV anime running for a season so far (imbibed by our hosts alongside the game) and highly eligible for a second, a proper sequel titled DanganRonpa 2: Goodbye Despair, and a spinoff creatively entitled Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls - not only that, there's a set of pretty cool Monokuma merch for which Brian has already clicked the big "BUY NOW" button because, to Will's mild chagrin, everyone loves this demonic bear. A roundtable is held regarding [anime] adaptations - this specific one and the idea in general, with discussions about backstory and relevance of season 1; the game's soundtrack is discussed with a woeful lack of mention of composer Masafumi Takada's masterwork soundtrack of GodHand (Editor's note: rage) but with an abundance of approval on the theme's use of English. In our critique of the finer points of this game's plot, we draw reference to a most unexpected game we recently podcasted upon; we admire the titling of the Family-Oriented Serial Killer and the demise of many of Will's first date - er, character - choices, to the surprise of nobody and the sadness of all, in addition to his strange formulaic calculations of death rates over the episodes. It's high time Phantasy Star Online got its due, and we've got old pals Joe Walker and Alyssa Menes in our party to remind everyone what a musical masterwork that Dreamcast game is. Image of Hero (the character creation theme) is our subject this week, so prepare yourself for the smooth electronic groove of everyone's favorite (or at least top three) sci-fi/fantasy hybrid. You can find Joe and Alyssa on Twitter, which is where this whole episode idea began!Buy "Image of Hero" here! How did you like this episode? If the answer is "lots" then consider following Train Station at 8 on Twitter, subscribing on iTunes, or maybe sending an email to TrainStationAt8@gmail.com. In this, our first episode with a title for the podcast, we discuss the strangeness of the Ouya and Penny Arcade Kickstarter projects, and wonder when exactly everything Kickstarter related is going to fall apart.  We also introduce a new segment of the show where we discuss games we are currently playing.  Sound quality is a bit better, thanks to Chris getting a new mic, but it's still a work in progress, and that's OK.
