Contact us via text Tonight we are reflecting on Karnov, an arcade port developed and published by Data East for the NES in North America in January of 1988. Data East was responsible for porting popular arcade games to the NES like Burgertime, Karate Champ and Rampage. Data East seemed to be hell-bent on making circus strongman Jinborov Karnovski, aka “Karnov”, a sort of company mascot by inserting him into other Data East games such as Bad Dudes, where he is the level one boss. Tonight our visiting Deacon is Cornellius Jefferson III. The miNEStry founders, Archbishop Dracul and Father Avram, seek to inspire their 8-bit parishioners through methodical and ceremonial scrutiny of the library of games on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Jill WIne-Banks hosts #SistersInLaw to delve into the superseding indictment of Senator Menedez. They examine how his role as the chair of the Foreign Relations Committee gives the charges against him national security ramifications, and lay out the political implications if he ends up resigning. Moving on to the next indictment, they break down the charges against Rep. Santos with a look at how his actions defrauded his donors and the election process. From there, they explain the differences between political and racial gerrymandering and how South Carolina's conflation of the two has taken their recently drawn congressional map to the Supreme Court. Dokapon Kingdom continues on a confluence of unusual events that end with hitting what amounts to a 20% critical hit and it's all TW's fault. At this point I don't even know if people care who wins as long as it's somebody. Good. Dokapon is doing its job. Maybe it's over by now. Maybe not. Seth and Marc are up for a little surprise with Dion's The Wanderer.... or are they? What looks like it's a song about a horny dude who sees women as nothing but the holes they have might be about something a lot sadder.
Mustin's remixes and albums lift my spirits, and I hope they do for you too! Mustin has an ability to capture juuuuust the right sound to make a track pop and nail the nostalgia. His latest album, Mario Mixtape, resulted from a challenge issued by his son: to create a Mario remix album within a matter of months (about 4 months). Mustin delivered, with the assistance and approval of his son, his daughter, and their "people," as he puts it. Mustin also co-founded The OneUps about 20 years ago, the 2nd longest-running video game music remix band in the world. He's got an album out called 20 of the favorite remixes he made for the band. And he did the same with his favorite remixes for another collective he's part of called Bad Dudes. I loved chatting with Mustin - another one of those chats that flew by. Please buy and/or stream his music to help support this community we love! You can support Level with Emily on Patreon. Join us on Discord for free. Find this conversation on YouTube and Twitter. This week's podcast is truly an extrava danza for all you pretty things as we prove again that Beck Did it Better is the best podcast about David Bowie when we cover Hunky Dory. And to clarify, we're not talking about that fish from Finding Nemo. So just close your Bing browsers now. But before the guys get to the album, we become the best podcast about cars when Aaron shares an unfortunate, but funny, story about how his new car met his retaining wall. Matt answers whether it's ok to sit across from your spouse on a plane in another Flight Tonight. Then the guys talk about fine dining when Russell is eating in the dark, chowing down snacks and eating slices of pork, why did we wear nice clothes. Rob also asks the listeners if people know what a cakewalk is. And if you just searched, "Is Mona Alive?" and landed here, we are definitely the podcast for you. Then at 59:00 we talk about David Bowie's piano pop rock album Hunky Dory. We discuss whether the Beatles influenced this album, what Bowie's lyrics mean, and the best songs recorded on the Trident Studio's Bechstein grand piano. Finally, the guys share their experiences of when they found out they were going to be a parent, and for some it was never a long journey. Call or text 802 277 BECK. Don't be a brat! You can email us at beckdiditbetter@gmail.com follow us on our Twitter and Instagram @beckdiditbetter and feel free to leave a review on your favorite podcast app. Please mention feet if you do review the show. If we can get "ROSIE LOVES FEET" to be something that is searchable online, I feel like this will all be worth it. Next week, the hosts are Bad Dudes when we become the best neo soul podcast and talk about Erykah Badu and her debut studio album, Baudizm.
Don't let the episode title fool you.. we don't talk about Dr. Chaos AT ALL. That being said, we are back! This time around, Jay and Mike are joined by two staples of the show, 8bitsupremacy and retrogameenthusiast. Robby and John sit down to talk with us about their weeks, what they've picked up, and the real topic of the show: Bad games and why we actually enjoy some of them. Fair warning: This episode is an open discussion, but we really start to discuss the topic at the 1h17m mark. Also, we are doing a giveaway of Castlevania Symphony of the Night for the PS1 (Greatest Hits Edition). Listen later in the episode for details. The contest closes at 6PM EST on Thursday, March 24th, 2022. Here is the link you'll need once you know what information to provide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKYUvBpBvvM So tune in and enjoy as much as is possible. As always, thank you for listening!
The guys start a new journey toward gaining the trust and hopefully an alliance with the frost giants of the north. They follow a trail through the Streets of Rage and hopefully find some Bad Dudes and some treasure, possibly a Golden Axe or 2. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/naturalones/support

George has never seen any Kung Fu movies... except for Kung Fu Panda. He was not ready for the awesomeness of Vinegar Syndrome Pictures' first release: New York Ninja. Luckily, Vinegar Syndrome provided us with a sneak peak at the upcoming film. And Travis and Dan stepped up to show George what magic was waiting for him in the Big Apple of the 1980s. New York Ninja was shot in 1984, in guerilla fashion around New York, by director John Liu (In the Claws of the CIA, Dragon Blood). But it was thought to be lost to time until it was rescued by the restoration wizards at Vinegar Syndrome. Director Kurtis Spieler compiled the nearly 30 year old footage into a streamlined story. And with the help of producers including Brad Henderson, also of Vinegar Syndrome, he compiled a cast of voice actors from the exploitation and B-Movie Hall of Fame (not a real place, but it should be). Included on the upcoming Blu-Ray release is an excellent documentary look at the process of shooting a guerilla Kung Fu project on Staten Island and around New York in the 80s. But the behind the scenes feature goes on to explain the process of creating a new movie out of the old footage. The featurette is a must-watch, and very well may be worth the price of admission! Will George's new drinking game catch on with our listeners... (we hope not!) Will Travis ever learn to love a movie with a redubbed audio track? (don't hold your breath!) Did Dan just say "Unrelenting Crotch Hell" in... context? (He did!) Come for the Bad Dudes vs Dragon Ninja: The Movie vibes, and stay for the Beat-It aesthetics and Pink Floyd sexy scenes. New York Ninja is one to seek out! Coming November 1st, 2021, from Vinegar Syndrome Pictures. Available at www.vinegarsyndrome.com *Update* The review states that the film will be released on UHD, however a Facebook post from Vinegar Syndrome states that it will be in standard Blu-ray only. Don't let that dampen your excitement. This movie is still wonderful in 1080p! Still need a little convincing? Today we're covering a crossover between the Defenders and the Guardians of the Galaxy. This episode is about the Badoon who are extraterrestrial Bad-Dudes from our first Guardians of the Galaxy Coverage back in Episode 14. We’ve got a Time Travel Team-Up for you that goes into excruciating detail about how terrible the Badoon are! Dramatis Personae: Protagonists Defenders -Dr. Strange - Stephen Strange -Hulk - Bruce Banner -Nighthawk - Kyle Richmond -Valkyrie -Aragorn Guardians of the Galaxy -Vance Astro - Vance Astrovik -Charlie-27 -Martinex -Yondu - Yondu Udonta -Starhawk Jack Norriss Antagonists Eelar - YESSSS!!!!!!! Brotherhood of the Badoon Zoms Hard to Judge but… Good Grief Sisterhood of the Badoon -Queen Tolaria Giant Size Defenders (1972) 5 “Eelar Moves in Mysterious Ways Hulk is a whole mood in these issues and I love it. I don’t normally enjoy Hulk so much but Steve Gerber has a really fun voice for him throughout Why… why are the Defenders fighting… fish? Hulk doesn’t know, but he’ll do it! Eelar is kinda rad looking, actually These goons straight up shank someone in the beginning of this issue, and that’s surprising Charlie-27 sure is a slab-o-beef Going into this, my prediction is that Nighthawk is Starhawk I actually really like that the spaceship falling from the sky isn’t hidden from anyone. All the time in these stories they act like no one notices these things, but in this issue everyone notices, is kinda alarmed, then goes about with life as usual… which seems way more realistic to me Dude! Is it ever explained why the fish are involved? This kid… I feel bad for him and want Valkyrie to punch his dad in the stomach real good once I like this Vance Astro costume a lot Gerry Conway’s art in this is quite dynamic Hulk Punch Fire, not Fish… I’m crying! Getting the band back together to Mess Eelar Up! Oh boy, this kid is gonna cause trouble Defenders (1972) 26 - “Savage Time” So, I gotta talk about this Valkyrie/Jack Norriss situation for a moment. There’s certainly backstory I’m missing but I feel terribly for everyone involved here. It honestly ripped me up reading this whole saga. I can’t imagine coming home one day and my wife legit didn’t know who I was. I’d probably act similarly to Jack here, honestly. Trying anything you can think of to spark a memory. At the same time Valkyrie is an entirely different person and has no memory. His forceful kiss is definitely line-crossing in very uncomfortable and bad ways… that said, again, were I in his shoes… It’s heartbreaking and tragic and I want the best for both of them and in 616, I just don’t expect it… All that said, Valkyrie is good peeps, she saves him without a second thought even after so remarkably uncomfortable a moment The Enterprise… I mean Captain America… nah, I mean Enterprise, is even more wrecked than it looked before and the News is covering it Oh man, an alien emerging from a space ship with a human kid… how are you still alive Martinex? Strange with the save! Major Vance Astro’s early recap is… pointed… at us… still… Humans raised as food, SNAP INTO A SLIM JIM! I had to go back to Two-in-One to see if Killraven was Wundarr. I’m still not sure, but refuse to google it Techno-Barrons is my new 80’s retro band Why is Aqua-Man in this issue? Dude, these Mercury dudes look Rad AF So… much… recap… Jack does need to back the heck off though The Enterprise is repaired and ready to head back to Stardate 1312.4 Defenders (1972) 27 - “Three Worlds to Conquer!” The Badoon are the worst Hulk is suspish of transport… AS HE SHOULD BE, DON’T YOU WATCH CGP GREY?!? Chill Jack, you still aren’t helping I kinda dig the half lizard half ape design here though Why is Valkyrie getting weaker? What the heck is happening? Woah… glowy person Planet of the Stereotypical 60’s Seriously, this issue has big Star Trek vibes I dig this robot design, and the bond between mama and babies Hulk don’t care though, HULK SMASH Dr. Strange-Tech is a thing I hope to see more if going forward So… how will it reveal that Nighthawk has become Starhawk? Oh good, it’s Denethor.... Wait, the Badoon Eliet Guard is 90% Zoms?!?! What the heck? Defenders (1972) 28 - “My Mother, the Badoon!” Excellent Opening Scene Hulk, I mean Charlie-27 SMASH So, Night enhances Nighthawks Powers? Cool! Will it enhance Starhawk’s powers though? How is this tied together? Digging future Nighthawk though Woah! Badoon Sisterhood City looks awesome At least we know the Badoon aren’t into corpse stabbing Techno-Bondage Hulk Action Figure! LOVING Super-Death Sweepstakes and ABSOLUTELY getting a Running Man vibe from it Yondu is one tough cookie The Badoon backstory is… yikes Starhawk is OUT Defenders (1972) 29 - “Let My Planet Go!” The Battle Royale between the Badoon and the Guardians and Defenders kicks off while Hulk and Yondu are still MIA Damsel is in distress and Hulk will SMASH (hyuck) Starhawk’s family is… normalish Hulk is indeed the strongest there is Hulk being teleported mid punch and absolutely leveling a Badoon is HILARIOUS slapstick comedy I really love how the battle royale begins at the start of the issue and just builds and builds throughout. It’s mostly just a fight issue but it’s so well done that it’s a ton of fun to read Strange and Jack to save the day! I’m starting to suspect that Nighthawk and Starhawk aren’t related That’s some cool eye-effect though with Starhawk Creators of these issues: Steve Gerber,Gerry Conway, Roger Slifer, Len Wein, Chris Claremont, Scott Edelman, Don Heck, Sal Buscema, Mike Esposito, Jim Mooney, Dave Hunt, Vince Colletta, Frank Giacoia, John Tartag, George Roussos, Irene Vartanoff, Glynis Wein, Al Wenzel, Dave Hunt, Artie Simek, Gaspar Saladino, Karen Mantlo, John Costanza, Joe Rosen, Len Wein, Marv Wolfman, Ron Wilson, Al Milgrom, Danny Crespi, Gil Kane, John Romita, Danny Crespi, Frank Giacoia, Gaspar Saladino Find us on Twitter @ArtifactsOfI and ArtifactsOfInfinity.com

Are you a bad enough dude or dudette to listen to this episode? That's right, we're talking about the game that sounds like it was made by an 80s word generator (and probably was) - Bad Dudes Vs. DragonNinja. The President has been kidnapped! What will it take to get Blade and Striker - the baddest sweatpant-wearing dudes in NYC - to go rescue him? Some machismo and a side of hamburgers, evidently. Who are the DragonNinja? How many lives can you justify taking to rescue a President? How many curse words can we say each episode and still keep our PG-13 status? We also make the perfect pitch for a Bad Dudes movie, marvel at Data East's attention to detail, and wonder how bad you have to be to jump through helicopter blades.
We've got an extra special episode for you this week! This one is all about games with movie adaptations. And to make this journey extra special, we're joined by a very special guest, Mustin! Mustin is a long time member of The OneUps band, founder of Bad Dudes, lover of video game music, and all around excellent guy.
