Well, this is it, folks - our very last episode of Channel 2, taking a long….VERRRRRRY LONG last look back through the entirety of our show's history, and featuring at least one track from every single episode! This episode really is obscenely long - just shy of 5 ½ hours! But it covers so much history, and is our way of putting a bow on everything. So we hope you will stick with us for the entire thing! Presented in a hybrid-format of Ch 2-style talkie portions and Ch 1-style mini-mixtapes, and broken up by season. ------------------------------------------------------------ Intro Segment [00:00:00 - Thanks for having joined Hugues and I on this incredible journey of Channel 2! We've been delighted to have you and to have occasionally heard from you! But while one door closes, another door remains open for a little while longer. The Channel 1 show….goes on for one more regular season and then an additional year of retrospectives! Join us again (probably early January) for C1R7 - “The Best of 2024”, and again, later in January for C1E91 - a Mishmash Monday originally planned for November of this year, but pushed back to make room for Hugues' twin episodes! Delicious VGM on Noise from the Hearts of Nerds! And wherever you are…..Fly the N! Cheers!

But of “plain Jane, run of the mill, ordinary episodes”....yeah, this is the very last one - which makes it really sad for St. John, and also very heavily influenced the selection of his tracks, which bias very heavily towards emotional, sentimental, heart-tugging pieces, and also bias very heavily towards tracks from games he actually beat growing up back in the day. :-( Tracklist Track# (season) / Track# (episode) - Track - Game - System - Composer(s) - Selected By - Timestamp 57 / 01) Summer Vacation - Tokyo Xanadu - Multiplatform - Takahiro Unisuga (Falcom Sound Team jdk) - Hugues - 02:50:04 58 / 02) Credits - Sonic 2 - Genesis - Masato Nakamura - St. John - 02:55:11 59 / 03) Staff Roll - Phantasy Star III - Genesis - Ippo Takeuchi - Hugues - 02:57:48 60 / 04) Ending - Super Castlevania IV - SNES - Masanori Adachi and/or Taro Kudo - St. John - 02:59:28 61 / 05) Ending - Another World - Amiga - Jean-François Freitas - Hugues - 03:01:51 62 / 06) Triforce Chamber - LoZ: Link to the Past - SNES - Koji Kondo - 03:03:23 63 / 07) The Credits Concerto - Donkey Kong Country - SNES - David Wise and/or Eveline Fischer - Hugues - 03:04:50 64 / 08) Ground Zero - Shinobi III - Genesis - Hirofumi Murasaki, Morihiko Akiyama, and/or Masayuki Nagao - St. John - 03:06:36 65 / 09) Good End - Streets of Rage II - Genesis - Yuzo Koshiro and/or Motohiro Kawashima - Hugues - 03:08:51 66 / 10) End Credits - Mega Man 3 - NES - Yasuaki Fujita and/or Harumi Fujita - St. John - 03:11:10 67 / 11) Farewell and a Decision - Grandia II - PS2 / Dreamcast - Noriyuki Iwadare - Hugues - 03:13:29 68 / 12) Ending - Stray - Multiplatform - Jan van der Cruyssen - St. John - 03:18:06 69 / 13) 16th Floor - Speedrun Tower - Genesis - c: JAM / a: Hugues Johnson - Hugues - 03:21:23 70 / 14) Ending - Super Mario World - SNES - Koji Kondo - St. John - 03:23:09 ---------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------- Total Episode Runtime: 03:27:17

Today's broadcast is C2E19 for Theme Thursday, Sept 26th, 2024. Today's theme is…..well, there are two themes, and they're both a secret. Each host has their own mystery theme - can you guess what the themes are? Today's episode is called “Mystery Flavors”. [Production Note: more details below, but we apologize if the conversation on the opening track sounds a little more halting or broken up than usual, as if it were broken up into small chunks spaced apart. Also, this episode has an unusually long post-episode bonus reel. Everything that gets mentioned as “maybe I'll add that to the back of the episode” gets added! :-D ] Track# (total ) / Track# (episode) - Track - Game - System - Composer(s) - Selected By 01) "I can't believe you" (aka "Betrayal") - Grounseed - PC98 (OPN version) - Daisuke Takahashi - St. John Earcatcher - 00:00:00 Music - 00:00:02 Introduction - 00:02:39 Top of Show Business (losing ourselves in the weeds) - 00:03:51 Discussion - 00:13:13 02) Bridge - Spider-Man: Web of Fire - 32X - Sam Powell and/or Brian Schmidt - Hugues Music - 00:19:21 Discussion - 00:21:14 03) Bulberry Hill - Zool 2 - Amiga - Neil Biggin - St. John Music - 00:27:14 Discussion - 00:30:09 04) Site-B Area - The Lost World: Jurassic Park - Game Gear - Kōjirō Mikusa - Hugues Music - 00:36:09 Discussion - 00:37:42 05) Passage - Destiny - Multiplatform - C. So, the only solution available to achieve BOTH starting at the right time, AND syncing to the right moment was to break the opening conversation into several small chunks and then create a little space between all of the chunks. So, that's why the opening conversation sounds the way it does. I actually had to break up the conversations on one or two other tracks too - but to so much less extreme of a degree that it's not noticeable other than on the opening conversation. Revisiting Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was an... interesting experience to say the least. In this episode, we're comparing and contrasting the music from the GameCube original and the new remake for the Nintendo Switch. But also... talking about self identity, media literacy and the way we connect about art together? Boy oh boy. ✉️ Send email or voicemail to bitharmonypod@gmail.com

For this episode, we step back to 1996 and check out the soundtrack to an arcade classic, Virtua Fighter 3. Voltz and very special [pre-recorded] guest Kung Fu Carlito each pick their favourite 5 tracks and Carlos also brings us some interesting facts about the game. A really impressive soundtrack that manages to take some pretty ordinary sampled sounds and turn them into something quite amazing! Note: Takenobu Mitsuyoshi arranged most of the tracks, which explains the consistently high quality production. On this brand new episode, James & Dan go back in time in our new series known as "The SegaGuys Review…" to take a look at the much maligned yet much loved SEGA Saturn launch title, Daytona USA. We compare it to the later Saturn and Dreamcast versions that followed and discuss Daytona's impact on the industry, both in the arcade and at home.
So many playlist additions during the month of May 2021, and with some really exciting ones, we just had to do another show detailing all the new goodies! There's also chat about new RadioSEGA merch, SEGA's continuing leak problem and... our brand new website? And some new additions to Pick n' Mix? For the full show notes, check out: https://www.rspicknmix.com/s2e23
This show was meant to celebrate Daytona USA 2's music, above everything else - but, as usual, listeners came in strong with Totally Random requests! So there's a massive interlude, with random songs from SEGA's history. Of course - there's direct comparisons through the entire time. Which version's the best? Dennis St. James? Takenobu Mitsuyoshi? Let us know on Twitter or Discord!

Dedicated to Daddy Milk himself AKA INeedFruit, the listeners wanted to hear a "Milk Mix". Coming up is 2 hours of nothing but the milkiest SEGA tunes as requested by you. Who could turn down such a popular yet insane request?
GAMES LIST: Crackin' DJ (Parts 1 & 2) Initial D Arcade Stage Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap [1989 & 2017] On this week's Pick n' Mix, we decide to go route 1 and do a pretty normal episode to cap off a week that's been anything but. In doing so, we picked 3 soundtracks that are incompatible on paper, but all of which made for a fantastic show. Eurobeat, dance, folk and chiptune all rolled into one episode: what could go wrong? Nothing apparently!

The sun has gone down and the moon has come up, and it’s not a good time to be in the city. This is part three of a three-part series that began with a drive into the city and led to a fight through the city. Back in the 16-bit era, urban streets were littered with no-good punks who would attack in wave after wave, leaving a group of musclebound heroes no choice but to keep on punching — and hope there is a whole roast chicken hidden in a garbage can somewhere. This episode is a celebration of those gritty city environments, the music heard in them and the music from other genres of game that nonetheless get at this same vibe. Due to not getting internet installed in my new home until August, I'm unable to stream LIVE shows until then! Instead, here's another remastered version of The Sound Test's second show of all time! This time, I speak an unbelievable amount of bollocks. There are parts of this episode that really make me cringe, but I think longtime listeners will enjoy hearing some of my naivety and growth as a VGM fan. Really, I was at the very beginning of my journey! In particular, I'm especially embarrassed about my totally misread pronunciation of "Clark Aboud" as "Clark Abound" - sorry Clark! Fortunately, after two interviews with the man himself, I think we're cool!Dale brings his usual unique perspective to the proceedings and, other than a few ignorant comments on my part, this is another great, relaxed evening with the two of us. All the chat aside, the playlist stays strong this week with a number of banging choices and odd gems side-by-side. However, it's worth mentioning that there are several tracks/games on this playlist that would later become repeated favourites of the show. Apologies for some of the replays!Previously, this episode was only available to patrons, but I've given it a clean up and posted it here ready for the usual stream time. Essentially, I've replaced the music with better quality rips and tweaked the volumes of our chat slightly. This week's playlist:C418 - Haunt Muskie [Minecraft]Norihiko Hibino & Cynthia Harrell - Snake Eater [Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater]Hirokazu Tanaka & Masato Kouda - Humoresque of a Little Dog [Super Smash Bros. Hey everyone! I tried to have this out on Valentine's Day because I know it's what you truly wanted but I ended watching Lego Masters instead. Well you have it now so stop crying. On this episode we cover Shenmue 1 and The Raven Remastered. Then near the end I'm going to play a few songs leading up to probably the only duet song you'll hear on this podcast. Title track "Out of Ashes" by Andy Rinaldi. Check him out over at taskermorrissounds.com. Title art by Devious.Pixel. Gaze upon his work on his Instagram page. Sweet Jams: "The Sadness I Carry on My Shoulders" "Antiquity Tree" "Working Man" These are all from the Shenmue OST composed by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi. There's good stuff in there but I couldn't find the one song I wanted to play. "Main Theme" "Saloon Tune" "Hunting for Clues" These all come from the Raven Remastered OST composed by Benny Oschmann. I enjoyed some of these songs but not a lot jumped out. "Her Kiss" by In This Moment from their album The Dream. "Lighthouse" by Otherwise from their album True Love Never Dies. "The Promise" by In This Moment featuring Adrian Patrick of Otherwise from their album A Star-Crossed Wasteland. Podcast edited mostly by me(Drew). I think Jessica did the first 8 minutes. Find us on Facebook and Instagram. FB is were I try to keep folks updated on the goings on of the podcast. And IG is were Blake likes to post art from the games each episode. That is all. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/lock-stock-and-two-smoking-controllers/support
Feed will include Channels 1, 2, 3, and any future channels not yet planned. Feed will also include podcasts in high quality, stereo where applicable, and episodes will never expire off the feed. Therefore it is STRONGLY recommended that you subscribe to this Nerd Noise Radio feed and bypass all others. This one will contain all their content anyway. Option 2: If you're ONLY interested in Channel 1 ("Noise from the Hearts of Nerds") episodes, and not in any of the other content that is or will be offered by Nerd Noise Radio, there is a Channel 1-specific feed. But it's hosted on a free account, rather than an upgraded account like the "All Channels Feed" with lower quality sound (mono, I believe), a maximum 2hrs per month of content (so if the month's episodes run longer than that, they may need to be trimmed), and episodes expire off the feed forever after 90 days. It is STRONGLY recommended for most listeners to subscribe to the All-Channels feed instead. However, if you really are only interested in Channel 1 content, here's the RSS: http://www.buzzsprout.com/77944.rss Our episodes will also appear on our Nerd Noise Radio YouTube Channel - just search for Nerd Noise Radio, you'll find us! Here's today's episode: https://youtu.be/ngEmhOWhs6Y Additionally, there are YouTube Playlists you can follow, both an "All Channels" Feed (recommended), as well as channel-specific feeds. You can find them here: Nerd Noise Radio Network - All Channels Podcast Feed Nerd Noise Radio - Channel 1 podcast Nerd Noise Radio is now available on Twitch as well! Here's the many great tunes of the quite literally godlike Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, since he was born on Christmas Day after all.

Rad! Another look into dance music in video games that probably wasn’t meant for dancing but you totally could if you wanted to. This episode pulls from dance music of all types, including EDM, funk, house and more… though since it is video games and mostly retro games, there’s still a profound ’80s vibe. Enjoy. "No, there atcually *are* some kickass saxaphones in video game music," Drew said, responding to no one. Yes, this is an unabashed appreciation of saxophones and their digital reproductions as they've been used in video games, all because I wanted to include Edea's theme from Bravely Default in an episode and ended up building other sax-tastic tracks around it. I have tracks from Mario Kart 8, ToeJam & Earl, Street Fighter 3, Undertale and Bayonetta and more. Bonus? I avoided making an "aural sax" pun. You're welcome. Can we talk about my dear friend Frakenstein? Ah, B Movie paradise at last! Joe and Kristen do their best Torgo and Stallone impressions while David Carradine alternates between too much and too little clothing. Remember, Mr. President loves you! Our intro song this week is ‘Girls on Film (Night Version)’ by Duran Duran. The 'movie song' is 'Battle on the Edge' by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi. The outro song is ‘Bizarre Dub Triangle’ by New Order.
Aja is denied an episode of her own this week as something with racecars happens. I think Mario Andretti is involved? Either way, Jem is apparently qualified to drive in the Indy 500! Eat your heart out, Danica Patrick. Our weekly Jem song is ‘I’m Coming From Behind’, performed by Britta Phillips and this episode’s transition songs are 'Let's Go Away', 'Start Your Engines', and 'Pounding Pavement' all by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi from Daytona USA.
