But of “plain Jane, run of the mill, ordinary episodes”....yeah, this is the very last one - which makes it really sad for St. John, and also very heavily influenced the selection of his tracks, which bias very heavily towards emotional, sentimental, heart-tugging pieces, and also bias very heavily towards tracks from games he actually beat growing up back in the day. :-( Tracklist Track# (season) / Track# (episode) - Track - Game - System - Composer(s) - Selected By - Timestamp 57 / 01) Summer Vacation - Tokyo Xanadu - Multiplatform - Takahiro Unisuga (Falcom Sound Team jdk) - Hugues - 02:50:04 58 / 02) Credits - Sonic 2 - Genesis - Masato Nakamura - St. John - 02:55:11 59 / 03) Staff Roll - Phantasy Star III - Genesis - Ippo Takeuchi - Hugues - 02:57:48 60 / 04) Ending - Super Castlevania IV - SNES - Masanori Adachi and/or Taro Kudo - St. John - 02:59:28 61 / 05) Ending - Another World - Amiga - Jean-François Freitas - Hugues - 03:01:51 62 / 06) Triforce Chamber - LoZ: Link to the Past - SNES - Koji Kondo - 03:03:23 63 / 07) The Credits Concerto - Donkey Kong Country - SNES - David Wise and/or Eveline Fischer - Hugues - 03:04:50 64 / 08) Ground Zero - Shinobi III - Genesis - Hirofumi Murasaki, Morihiko Akiyama, and/or Masayuki Nagao - St. John - 03:06:36 65 / 09) Good End - Streets of Rage II - Genesis - Yuzo Koshiro and/or Motohiro Kawashima - Hugues - 03:08:51 66 / 10) End Credits - Mega Man 3 - NES - Yasuaki Fujita and/or Harumi Fujita - St. John - 03:11:10 67 / 11) Farewell and a Decision - Grandia II - PS2 / Dreamcast - Noriyuki Iwadare - Hugues - 03:13:29 68 / 12) Ending - Stray - Multiplatform - Jan van der Cruyssen - St. John - 03:18:06 69 / 13) 16th Floor - Speedrun Tower - Genesis - c: JAM / a: Hugues Johnson - Hugues - 03:21:23 70 / 14) Ending - Super Mario World - SNES - Koji Kondo - St. John - 03:23:09 ---------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------- Total Episode Runtime: 03:27:17
Today's broadcast is C2E19 for Theme Thursday, Sept 26th, 2024. Today's theme is…..well, there are two themes, and they're both a secret. Each host has their own mystery theme - can you guess what the themes are? Today's episode is called “Mystery Flavors”. [Production Note: more details below, but we apologize if the conversation on the opening track sounds a little more halting or broken up than usual, as if it were broken up into small chunks spaced apart. Also, this episode has an unusually long post-episode bonus reel. Everything that gets mentioned as “maybe I'll add that to the back of the episode” gets added! :-D ] Track# (total ) / Track# (episode) - Track - Game - System - Composer(s) - Selected By 01) "I can't believe you" (aka "Betrayal") - Grounseed - PC98 (OPN version) - Daisuke Takahashi - St. John Earcatcher - 00:00:00 Music - 00:00:02 Introduction - 00:02:39 Top of Show Business (losing ourselves in the weeds) - 00:03:51 Discussion - 00:13:13 02) Bridge - Spider-Man: Web of Fire - 32X - Sam Powell and/or Brian Schmidt - Hugues Music - 00:19:21 Discussion - 00:21:14 03) Bulberry Hill - Zool 2 - Amiga - Neil Biggin - St. John Music - 00:27:14 Discussion - 00:30:09 04) Site-B Area - The Lost World: Jurassic Park - Game Gear - Kōjirō Mikusa - Hugues Music - 00:36:09 Discussion - 00:37:42 05) Passage - Destiny - Multiplatform - C. So, the only solution available to achieve BOTH starting at the right time, AND syncing to the right moment was to break the opening conversation into several small chunks and then create a little space between all of the chunks. So, that's why the opening conversation sounds the way it does. I actually had to break up the conversations on one or two other tracks too - but to so much less extreme of a degree that it's not noticeable other than on the opening conversation. ¡Prometido! recorded 10/14/2021 with Robert Rabel Rob's favorite Video Game OSTs Pt1 Intro: 00:00 Overview and general impressions: 00:43 Playlist Breakdown: 34:42 Stuck Mojo digression: 1:24:03 Wrap up: 1:31:40 Rob sez: Why these specific games/tracks: ============== Special to me/nostalgia Tended to favor rhythmically interesting over atmospheric for Richard's benefit Just good tunes There are many other tracks from games that I love, but weren't as interesting to talk about or required specific experience because they're more mood builders/enhancers Why this is an especially difficult topic: ============== So much of what music does for a game comes from the context in which it is experienced. This means that without the visuals, control feel, sound effects, story, characters, etc that comprise a game, you're never going to get the full understanding of what the music "means" to the experience. Also: better to do a more personal retrospective or a more medium-representative one? I went with personal, since you can find any number of Best Gaming OSTs of the 90s/00s/10s out there, and they usually contain the same few games. Or stuff like Rock Band, Guitar Hero, or Grand Theft Auto which contain primarily or solely licensed music created outside the scope of the game. All of the music I've chosen for these lists was written specifically for these games, often in creative tandem. Very interested to see how these hit Richard's ear, because despite me still *believing* that I think it's all good music, I can't honestly say that I'm hearing it objectively. For instance, every track on here (to varying extents) calls to mind some part of the game it's from and even some tangentially related memories. This week, in honor of the new Sonic movie hitting theatres this weekend, we're doing a deep dive on the blue blur himself: the hog, the myth, the legend– Sonic the Hedgehog! It's Sonic! The cool blue hedgehog who runs fast and loves chili dogs! You know the guy! In this episode we discuss the loveable blue guy's origin, our first exposure to this gaming icon, and discuss his history as a gaming cultural figure over the years. Plus we get into how the Sonic fandom has made their own queer spaces around the character, from the creation of Sonic OCs (original characters) on DeviantArt to fan games that range from the bizarre (Sonic Dreams Collection) to total love-letters to the franchise (Sonic Mania). ========Be Our Friends!!EMAIL US at gayforplaypodcast@gmail.comFOLLOW G4P Twitter: @GayForPlayPodInstagram: @GayForPlayPodTwitch: twitch.tv/gayforplaypodSupport the Show on PATREON========CREDITSIntro and outro music by Connor Marsh (@connorjmarshmallow)Show art by Nick Adams (@nickadams.art)Special thanks to our patrons: Blueberri Mary, Elijah Punzal, Trevor McTavish & Martha Turner

The duo Dreams Come True have charmed millions of listeners across Asia thanks to their breezy funk-indebted pop hits. Yet the pair have also connected with millions more in an under-the-radar way — the group frequently writes music for the video game Sonic The Hedgehog. Masato Nakamura and Miwa Yoshida have connected with J-pop fans while also contributing memorable music to the world of Sega's energetic hedgehog. While the two might not be famous as pioneers when it comes to creating soundtracks to famous home console titles, they have played a major role in making tunes that are instantly recognized by gamers all over the world. Dreams Come True formed in 1988 as a trio that included keyboardist Takahiro Nishikawa. Almost immediately, they became superstars at home. Their blend of jazz, funk and rock came wrapped around catchy hooks, making for an irresistible mix of sounds. Their self-titled debut album sold very well when it came out in 1989, and their subsequent releases were even more popular. In the mid-1990s, Dreams Come True decided to make a play for the American market. They left Sony Music — causing the company's stock price to plummet — and signed with Virgin Records America. However, their efforts to cross over failed. They were hurt partly by bad marketing, but also by the mistake they made in changing their style to a more hip-hop-inspired sound that failed to connect with U.S. audiences and alienated Japanese fans. The extraterrestrial comedy podcast where we probe cock circles. We also touch upon crop circles, sure, including their devilish origin and advancement through the years but you know why we really covered this topic. Big. Meaty. Cock circles. But how do these shapes in fields of crop come to be? Is their explanation extraterrestrial or is something more human at play? Along the way we learn what G would tag on an alien planet to show he'd been there (you'll never guess)… We also stumble upon evidence that children's television host Neil Buchanan may be an alien. We do examine a fair bit of visual evidence in this one so if you'd like to see what we are referring to, do check out our Instagram linked later in these notes. Meanwhile Moonwalker stoops to a new low in life as he googles the girlfriend of a certain horny hedgehog. Oh and Greybeard and Moonwalker are rudely interrupted by Greybeard's mysterious delivery at the end of the episode… All that and more on this week's file. Additional music via: https://freepd.com - thank you most kindly good people. You may also have heard the theme to 1990's/early 2000's children's television show Art Attack, hosted by Neil Buchanan. The theme is reported via Wikipedia to have been by Mr Miller and Mr Porter (whom sound suspiciously like MiB's) so thank you chaps. Also making an appearance was the theme to another tune from this era - Fun House hosted by Pat Sharp and announced by Gary King. The theme was composed by David Pringle and Bob Heatlie. Richard Wagner's Bridal Chrous may have also made an appearance when Moonwalker proposed to Greybeard live on the podcast. Finally, we couldn't cover Sonic the Hedgehog's interesting love life without throwing in the intro and Green Hill Zone themes from the 1991 original video game. This was composed by Masato Nakamura. Thank you for your wonderful work.
Dave calls Jay about his favorite mascot ever, and the game that started it all, Sonic The Hedgehog. SEGA decided to kick off the franchise in a huge way, with Jpop superstar Masato Nakamura from Dreams Come True doing the music and sound design. Bringing his pop music talents for strong melodies, he took a film score approach to the music composition, especially after seeing the epic production art that Sonic Team had provided. Scrap Brain Zone is a prime example of this sound, not only including grandiose music techniques like the tritone “Space Chord”, but being directly influenced from the iconic sci-fi film, Bladerunner.
Are you ready to go Sonic fast? Because we've sped up this episode to 2x the speed! Just kidding, but we are running very fast through the stages and music of Sonic the Hedgehog 2! Sega's mascot on the Genesis gets a facelift from his Sega Master System days on their new 16-bit system to be faster, more vibrant, and have plenty of attitude. Peter and Cody discuss what made the Sega Genesis so unique, and how that impacted the compositions created by Masato Nakamura as he utilized not one but two sound chips! As promised in the episode, here's a breakdown of Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog and how those two chips worked side by side: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_JYEdwvemk Question of the Episode: Which sound chip did you prefer more, the SNES or the Sega Genesis? Make sure you answer this and any of our previous questions on Twitter @DeepBassPodcast. As always, thanks for listening, and please be sure to subscribe to the podcast so you don't miss any future episodes! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/deepbasspodcast/support

Her bliver der skrevet seks forskellige kompositioner. ‘Rage Against The Machine‘, ‘The Dead Kennedy‘ og ‘Primus‘.

Feed will include Channels 1, 2, 3, and any future channels not yet planned. Feed will also include podcasts in high quality, stereo where applicable, and episodes will never expire off the feed. Therefore it is STRONGLY recommended that you subscribe to this Nerd Noise Radio feed and bypass all others. This one will contain all their content anyway. Option 2: If you're ONLY interested in Channel 1 ("Noise from the Hearts of Nerds") episodes, and not in any of the other content that is or will be offered by Nerd Noise Radio, there is a Channel 1-specific feed. But it's hosted on a free account, rather than an upgraded account like the "All Channels Feed" with lower quality sound (mono, I believe), a maximum 2hrs per month of content (so if the month's episodes run longer than that, they may need to be trimmed), and episodes expire off the feed forever after 90 days. It is STRONGLY recommended for most listeners to subscribe to the All-Channels feed instead. However, if you really are only interested in Channel 1 content, here's the RSS: http://www.buzzsprout.com/77944.rss Our episodes will also appear on our Nerd Noise Radio YouTube Channel - just search for Nerd Noise Radio, you'll find us! Here's today's episode: https://youtu.be/0kbqN-XRBn0 Additionally, there are YouTube Playlists you can follow, both an "All Channels" Feed (recommended), as well as channel-specific feeds. You can find them here: Nerd Noise Radio Network - All Channels Podcast Feed Nerd Noise Radio - Channel 1 podcast Nerd Noise Radio is now available on Twitch as well! WARNING: This submission is SUPER-DUPER LONG – like “Insane in the Membrane” long!!! Like, take a week to make the track list long!!! It’s the musical version of a “tl;dr”. And now for a non-musical version of one, here’s the explanation (with track list to follow): If you’re new to Nerd Noise Radio, and feel this is oppressively long, fear not (and certainly unsubscribe not)! This is not at all indicative of a standard episode! Typically, episodes generally find themselves in the half hour to an hour and a half range. This is a once-a-year super-duper track-fest that is as long as it is because I couldn’t be more committal! I created a list of all “candidate” tracks from 2017 that I would consider for a favorites episode….and ended up with a whopping 122 tracks! For perspective, an ordinary episode of NNR is anywhere from 20-35 tracks. So, I started pruning back the list with the goal of hitting 40 tracks, mayyyybe 60 at the extreme. I started by cutting the tracks on my list that were already featured via listener picks on C1E25: The Best of 2017 since you, the listener just heard them a few days ago. I did include a list at the very bottom of these notes featuring the tracks that were in C1E25, and were therefore cut from my list so you can know which tracks they were. I gradually whittled my list down to 70 tracks, but couldn’t think of any more to cut. And besides, with so many tracks that I would’ve wanted featured absent already, and so many “me tracks” already featured on C1E25, I felt like I was beginning to approach the precipice of this not being worth doing anymore if I cut too many more out. It wouldn’t be representative enough, especially when there was already a good representation of “my tracks” selected by the listeners in the proper Channel 1 episode….. …..and thus….. ……..a 70 track, 3hr and 23 minute long music block JUGGERNAUT!!!! Actually, 71 tracks! I realized belatedly that in my quest to trim it back, I trimmed out all the NES tracks….and we just couldn’t have a Best of 2017 episode without AT LEAST ONE NES TRACK, am I right? There were already a pair of FDS tracks which, to be fair, is just an NES and then some, but it’s still not quite the same, don’t you agree? So, our opening track was a last second addition to make sure we got some real deal NES glory in this monster. I hope you’ll feel it fits. This is already long enough that I can’t feature it on the dedicated Channel F feed, so it will only be appearing on the All Channels Feed, on YouTube, Twitch, Archive, and Blogspot. Also, due to the extreme length, the customary intro and outro of a typical Channel 1 episode were cut, meaning that this episode is pretty much JUST the music block! If you’re catching this via the “video-ified” version on YouTube or Twitch, I will still include pop-ups for each track. But if you’re listening to an audio-only version, like podbean (the All Channels Feed), or Archive, then the ONLY place where you will find track info is in the show notes! So, they are more important than ever! In the case of YouTube, which has a character limit for descriptions, I fear that I may run afoul of that, and may need to move the tracklist to the comments section instead. So just keep an eye out for that. If you don’t see a track listing in the description, then you know where to look next. :-) All that said, I actually am really proud of this track list – particularly the track ordering. We start out with a fun, happy block, followed by dark, then intense, then weird, and then…..well, you’ll just have to tune in to follow the carefully curated ebb and flow and weave of this winding, twisting musical journey. I will say that other than our very last track, which has a PERFECT “goodbye” feel, we wrap things up with a jazz block. So, it’s truly an “all over the world” musical experience! And how we get from happy, to dark, to intense, to weird….and then to jazz is a question you’ll have to find out for yourself by listening. If you can survive the 3 ½ hour non-stop trip, I promise you that it is the biggest, boldest, broadest, richest, most ambitious journey I’ve taken you on as a podcaster! Lastly, I made sure to get at least one track from every episode in here. Had I been going by pure preference, the track list may have looked a tiny bit different (though not much), but having as my secondary goal to get every episode involved, I made the list the way I did, picking my favorite track(s) from the episode not already featured on C1E25. In the case of C1E7 (the Sword of Vermilion soundtrack), my favorite track, Statts, was already taken, and it became a multi-way-tie for second favorite, so I just chose a track that I thought would go well in the mix. I chose Dungeon 2. Anyway, I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it! 2017 was a great year for the program, and I’m convinced you’ll find 2018 even better…..I know I do ---- which means this task for me will be even harder next time! Get ready for 90 tracks next time…..maybe 91! ;-) Cheers! -John (Nerd Noise Radio) Track Number – Track Name – Game – System – Composer – Episode Originally Appearing on – Time Stamp (unless obviously otherwise) :-) 01: Intro – 00:00:00 02: Title Theme – Solstice – NES – Tim Follin – Ep 16: 00:00:15 03: Lovely City - Lovely Planet - Multiplatform - Calum Bowen - Ep 4 – 00:03:09 04: Nice Day - Spindizzy II - X68k - Toshiya Yamanaka - Ep 2 – 00:05:44 05: Chilled Reflection (Feat Rudy Escobar) - DYA – Neon Dreams (Album) - Ep 14 – 00:09:15 06: July 2014 - eShop Music - WiiU/3DS - Kazumi Totaka - Ep 6 – 00:11:35 07: Stage 1 - ChipChan-Kick - PCFX - Yoshio Furakawa, Masahara Iwata, and Hitoshi Sakamoto - Ep 4 – 00:14:28 08: Fun with Laser Guns - FearOfDark - FDS – BotB Winter Chip 8 – Ep 8 – 00:17:40 09: Metro City Subway - Final Fight CD – Sega CD - c: Harumi Fujita, Hiromitsu Takaoka, Junko Tamiya, Manami Matsumae, Yasuaki Fujita, Yoko Shimomura and/or Yoshihiro Sakaguchi / a: T's Music - Ep 15 – 00:21:11 10: High Sky - El Viento – Genesis - Motoi Sakuraba - Ep 16 – 00:23:15 11: Snow Land - Wiz 'n' Liz - Genesis – Matt Furniss – Ep 12 – 00:25:37 12: Tachy Touch - Knuckles Chaotix - 32X - Junko Shiratsu, Mariko Nanba - Ep 2 – 00:27:53 13: Ethnic Cave and Flame - X-Men - Arcade - The Konami Kukeiha Club – Ep 10 – 00:28:54 14: The Vile Peaks - Final Fantasy XIII - PS3 - Masashi Hamauzu – Ep 10 – 00:31:24 15: Twilight Palace (Outside) - LoZ: Twilight Princess - GC/Wii - Toru Minegishi, Asuka Ota - Ep 4 – 00:34:10 16: Options - Bram Stoker’s Dracula - Genesis - Matt Furniss - Ep 2 & 17 – 00:37:18 17: Intro - Sabre Team - Amiga - Matt Furniss - Ep 12 – 00:38:46 18: Cycle 1 - Streets of Rage 3 - Genesis - Motohiro Kawashima w Yuzo Koshiro) - Ep 2 – 00:41:38 19: Bonus 1 - Second Samurai - Mega Drive – Matt Furniss - Ep 12 – 00:44:51 20: Mission One - T2: The Arcade Game - Genesis – Matt Furniss – Ep 12 – 00:46:19 21: Traveller's Tales - Knight Arms - X68k - Toshiya Yamanaka - Ep 2 – 00:48:30 22: Yug's Stage - Cosmic Carnage – 32X – Hikoshi Hashimoto – Ep 13 – 00:51:05 23: Stage 5-2 – Bram Stoker's Dracula – Genesis – Matt Furniss – Ep 17 – 00:53:01 24: Stage 4-3 - Bram Stoker's Dracula - Genesis – Matt Furniss – Eps 12 & 17 – 00:55:30 25: 4th Cause - Psychosis - TG16 - Atsuhiro Motoyama – Ep 4 – 00:58:17 26: Naja's Stage - Cosmic Carnage – 32X – Hikoshi Hashimoto – Ep 13 – 01:02:47 27: Gong Shun Sheng - Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty (Dark Legend) - Multi - Seiichi Hamada – Ep 4 – 01:04:56 28: Dungeon 2 – Sword of Vermilion – Genesis - Hiroshi Kawaguchi and Yasuhiro Takagi - Ep 7 – 01:07:34 29: Swamp - Samurai Ghost - TG16 - Gappy, Miyoshi Okuyama, and/or Hiroyon – Ep 20 – 01:09:47 30: Passage - Destiny - PS4/XB1 - C. A hearty thanks to you all! If you wish to subscribe to the "Noise from the Hearts of Nerds" podcast - audio-only, there are two options: Option 1: Subscribe right here to the "Nerd Noise Radio Network - All Channels" podcast feed. Nate, Sebastian, and Jordan gather to discuss SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, the debut game of Sega's mascot who was custom-built to take down a certain mustachioed plumber. Nate and Sebastian discuss being on the Sega side of the "console wars," Jordan dunks on the battery life of the Game Gear, and Nate gushes about the musical stylings of Masato Nakamura. Also there are some technical difficulties.
Obed attended the Call of Duty World Championship 2017 and talks about his experience at the event. We talk about all the recent Netflix new regarding Disney content and Millarworld acquisition, new Last Jedi pictures, DC news and some video games news in an otherwise slow week. Song of the show - from Sonic The Hedgehog 2 - Chemical Plant by Masato Nakamura
Welcome back to another LGR PlayList episode. Today it’s all about the gold rings as we race through every level of the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive classics SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 1 + 2, before briefly touching upon SONIC 3 + KNUCKLES along with the everlasting legacy of Sega’s spikey blue blur mascot. For this 16-bit, nostalgia infused show, our resident Sonic fanboy Adam Ducker is joined by the ageing and somewhat slower speedsters Stuart Neill and Lee Howard. WARNING: The discussion on this episode covers the entirety of all three games and includes key details on the levels and boss fights of each zone. So beware of spoilers when listening. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG was released in 1991 and remains one of the best selling games ever, helped in part by it being bundled with purchases of the Genesis/Mega Drive console. This success elevated the creators Yuji Naka and Naoto OhshimaIt to Sega royalty and they changed the name of their development team to ‘Sonic Team’ in recognition of this breakthrough title. Useful link: For a full copy of the ‘Mean Machine’ review online and scanned PDF please click here; http://www.meanmachinesmag.co.uk/review/152/sonic-the-hedgehog.php SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 introduced Miles "Tails" Prower and was released worldwide on November 24th, 1992. Dubbed "Sonic 2sday," the simultaneous release was an unusual move for the time. The game eventually replaced the original SONIC THE HEDGEHOG as the default pack-in title for the Genesis/Mega Drive, being bundled with the redesigned Mega Drive II model (which reportedly had an inferior sound chip). Useful reference: ‘Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation’ by Blake J Harris (ISBN 978-0062276698) is available in Hardback, Paperback, Audio and all popular digital formats. SONIC 3 was released in February 1994, as a standalone release and was well-received. Significantly, this was soon followed by SONIC AND KNUCKLES in October of that same year. The two games were originally intended to be a single game. However, due to time constraints and the cost of a large-memory-capacity cartridge, Sega split the game into two. Notably, this two parts of one game, saw the introduction of series stalwart Knuckles the Echidna. GOTTA GO FAST! Ever since stepping into the battle against injustice, Sonic has been the champion of peace and is renowned the world over for saving it countless times. During his many adventures, Sonic has traveled from the ends of the world to the far reaches of space and time, while facing countless trials that have tested him to the fullest, earning him many titles, allies and the scorns of several foes. Well-known for his legendary cocky attitude, easy-going demeanor and somewhat short temper, yet strong sense of justice, compassion, heart of gold and love for freedom and adventure, Sonic uses his abilities to protect the innocent from his world and those beyond from the forces of evil, especially his arch-nemesis Dr. Eggman (originally Introduced as Dr. Robotnick) , who constantly seeks world domination. Although at this moment, the name has brought many frowns and feelings of false hope to his followers as of late, this podcast is to remember the good music that this franchise has brought to us through the years and remember how amazing this franchise really is.
