AbraSilver Resource Corp (TSX-V:ABRA, OTCQX:ABBRF) CEO John Miniotis speaks to Thomas Warner from Proactive about the latest developments at the company's silver and gold exploration project in Argentina's mining-friendly province of Salta. The key project, Diablillos, already boasts a substantial measured and indicated resource base of 110 million ounces of silver and 1.3 million ounces of gold close to the surface. However, Miniotis is currently focused on a new high-grade discovery, the "JAC zone," located just a few hundred meters from the existing pit. AbraSilver is nearing the completion of a 22,000-meter drill campaign and expects to announce a resource estimate for JACS and a pre-feasibility study for the entire project in the coming months, offering an opportunity particularly for "patient" investors, according to Miniotis. Miniotis says that investors can expect "plenty of news flow" between now and the end of 2023. He adds that the Salta province of Argentina is "extremely mining friendly." #ProactiveInvestors #AbraSilverResourceCorp #CEOInterview #MiningExploration #SilverandGold #HighGradeDiscovery #ArgentinaMining #SilverInvestment #GoldInvestment #ResourceExploration #DiabloLilosProject #JackZoneDiscovery #MiningFriendlyProvince #InvestmentOpportunity #MiningStocks #PreciousMetals #ResourceInvestment #ExplorationUpdate #MiningNews #SilverInvestor #GoldInvestor #MiningIndustry #ResourceStocks #MiningUpdates #CEOInsights #MiningProjects #MiningInvestment #SilverPrices #GoldPrices #ArgentinaProjects #SaltaProvince #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2022.12.20.521175v1?rss=1 Authors: Monteiro Gomes, G., Bar, J., Karpova, A., Kreutz, M. Abstract: Jacob is a synapto-nuclear messenger protein that encodes and transduces the origin of synaptic and extrasynaptic NMDA receptor signals to the nucleus. The protein assembles a signalosome that differs in case of synaptic or extrasynaptic NMDAR activation. Following nuclear import Jacob docks these signalosomes to the transcription factor CREB. We have recently shown that amyloid-beta and extrasynaptic NMDAR activation triggers the translocation of a Jacob signalosome that results in inactivation of the transcription factor CREB, a phenomenon termed Jacob-induced CREB shut-off (JaCS). JaCS contributes to early Alzheimer's disease pathology and a gene knockout of nsmf, the gene encoding Jacob, protects against amyloid pathology. Given that extrasynaptic activity is also involved in acute excitotoxicity, like in stroke, we asked whether nsmf gene knockout will also protect against acute insults, like oxygen and glucose deprivation and excitotoxic NMDA stimulation. Here we show that organotypic hippocampal slices from wild-type and nsmf-/- mice display similar degrees of degeneration when exposed to either oxygen glucose deprivation or 50 uM NMDA incubation. This lack of neuroprotection indicates that JaCS is mainly relevant in conditions of low level chronic extrasynaptic NMDAR activation that results in cellular degeneration induced by alterations in gene transcription. Jacquelyn Guderley is passionate about product management and mental health, and has thrown herself into both with gusto. She's a product manager for UK energy firm OVO, as well as the co-founder of Product Mind and impending book author with the in-progress "My Sketchy Head". Here are some highlights from the episode: "The best paths are never linear. The stumble and fall isn't important; it's how you get back up" Jacs had a variety of roles before product management, a role she didn't know existed (even though she had been doing it). Her varied experiences helped to round her out as a PM. A passion for mental health & product management combined with intense demand to create Product Mind Jacs was unsure whether her social media content was resonating, so asked her followers and got incredible interest from PMs looking for support with their wellbeing. Product Management is tough, and it's also lonely Product management can be great, but it's also a tough role due to being at the centre of everything, with nowhere to hide & you're often an easy target for blame. PMs often lack people to tell them what's OK & what's not. Idealised social media content is a double-edged sword There's a lot of boring, reductive, cookie-cutter content out there which feels almost philosophically anti-product management. But, on the other hand, the power and support of the PM community is amazing. Bringing up mental health issues at work is never easy It's not easy to talk to your boss in all companies & often it's easier not to try. Companies can make it easier by taking an active interest in your well-being. Sharing your experiences can help others share theirs. Check out Product Mind If you are interested in getting support from like-minded product people, check out Product Mind, or find them on Twitter or LinkedIn. Salegy may be the most popular dance music of Madagascar. It's a churning, harmonious groove with spine-stiffening vocal harmonies that emerged from towns and cities of northern Madagascar in the mid-20th century. On a trip to Diego Suarez, we learn that salegy's older origins are both fascinating and mysterious. We meet young salegy stars Ali Mourad and Jacs, and speak with the genre's reigning legend, Jaojoby, on the roof of his nightclub in Antananarivo. Along the way we visit a music school in Diego and hear blazing guitar riffs and get a fingerpicking tour of the entire island from guitar maestro Hajazz. Originally produced by Banning Eyre in 2014
In Episode 10 of Exploration Science, Drs. Cameron Pye and Joshua Schwochert, co-founders of Unnatural Products, talk about the power of macrocycles to engage formerly undruggable targets to treat human disease. They also walk through the process of starting a company while completing their PhDs and discuss some of the challenges and surprises in the discovery of therapeutics that bridge the gap between large biologics and small molecules. https://www.unnaturalproducts.com/ Kelly CN et.al. Hi, I'm Jacs and I'm a Trtle member taking over this podcast this week! I'm interviewing the coaches of Trtle with questions from the community.
We're celebrating Dugan's recent JACS paper on copper-catalyzed photocycloaddition reactions by doing a Back 2 Basics episode on photocycloadditons that is really just an episode on that paper with a little bit of Woodward Hoffmann rules thrown in for good measure. But what is a podcast for besides self-promotion anyway? We return to some of our favorite topics, including X-ray spectroscopy and transient absorption, and discuss how a combination of spectroscopic techniques can be used to deduce photochemical reaction mechanisms involving transition metals. We also ask ourselves how a single methylene group can drastically change the fate of a molecule and how a single pandemic can drastically change the fate of a research project.

JAC; blogger, teacher, podcaster and film buff returns to join Mike this week for the second part of their massive discussion primarily focusing on movies, with a bit of podcasting & nerdy things intertwined! This week, in part 2 (which was already available to Patreons), JAC & Mike's discussion on film continues by discussing how consuming & comparing film is different to music, which proceeds to how generations view films differently, Star Wars is briefly mentioned, then the duo talk about Blade Runner & it's sequel for a short while which leads onto a discussion on redemption and their conversation ends with a discussion on underrated movies! Dr. Alana Ogata, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor jointly appointed in the Department of Chemistry and Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM). Throughout her academic career, she has received seven fellowships and published 19 papers in high-impact journals, such as NanoLetters and JACS, providing important contributions to the fields of electrochemical biosensors, non-classical nucleation and growth, and disease diagnostics. As an NSF Graduate Research Fellow under Dr. Reg Penner at UC Irvine, she developed a new electrochemical biosensor named the virus bioresistor (VBR), capable of label-free and rapid protein detection for point-of-care applications. During a four-month NSF GROW fellowship in South Korea, Dr. Ogata fabricated highly-porous carbon nanofibers via electrospinning and integrated the nanofibers with the VBR platform to develop a tear-based glucose sensor, as described in Analytical Chemistry. In her six-month postdoctoral position with Dr. Joe Patterson at UC-Irvine, I learned and executed cryotransmission electron microscopy (cryoTEM) to study the formation of protein-metal-organic-framework (p-MOF) composites, earning a front-cover featured publication in JACS. As an NIH T32 postdoctoral fellow at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, she led a project on the detection of COVID-19 viral antigens in collaboration with researchers at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Massachusetts General Hospital. Within a six-month period, she co-wrote and received a grant for COVID-19 research, developed ultrasensitive viral antigen assays, tested COVID-19 patient samples, and published two manuscripts – one as first author in Clinical Chemistry. In addition, Dr. Ogata initiated and executed a study on vaccinated participants and led the design of sample collection, assay development, and sample analysis in collaboration with researchers at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. This study resulted in a first author publication in Clinical Infectious Diseases, and presents the first evidence of SARS-CoV-2 protein production from mRNA vaccination. Outside of lab, she enjoys working out and enjoying happy hour with friends. You can follow Dr. Ogata on Twitter @OgataAlana. Ira Pastor ideaXme life sciences ambassador interviews Dr. Gulden Camci-Unal, Ph.D. Assistant Professor, Department Chemical Engineering, Francis College of Engineering, UMass Lowell. Ira Pastor comments: A few episodes ago ideaXme hosted the University of Michigan’s Dr. Bruce Carlson. We spoke to him about the interesting topic of the importance of "substrate" in regenerative processes, for both the maintenance of normal tissue functions, and in the migration of cells or changes to tissue architecture that are part of healing processes. Substrate is broadly defined as the surface or material on, or from which, cells / tissues live, grow, or obtain nourishment, and have both biochemical, as well as biomechanical functions. Today, on ideaXme we are joined Dr. Gulden Camci-Unal, Ph.D. Assistant Professor, Department Chemical Engineering, Francis College of Engineering, UMass Lowell. Dr Camci-Unal received her Ph.D. in Chemistry at Iowa State University (USA) and her M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees both in Chemical Engineering at Middle East Technical University (Turkey). Dr. Camci-Unal’s research is at the interface of biomaterials and bioengineering, including the design, synthesis, and characterization of functional biomaterials for applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, development of in vitro disease models for personalized medicine, as well as work in the area low-cost point of care diagnostics. Her work interestingly brings in another interesting theme that we’ve touched on past shows, that of biomimicry, and looking at structures in nature, such as eggshells, plant leaves, marine sponges, and origami paper(!), to help guide viable and cost-effective bioengineering strategies. The overarching goal of her research is to improve human health and quality of life and she has made important contributions in generation of novel engineered platforms for cardiac, cardiovascular and bone tissue engineering. Dr. Camci-Unal’s research and teaching achievements include various awards such as the Iowa State University Teaching Excellence Award, Wakonse Fellowship, NSF ADVANCE Travel Award, Chevron-Phillips Award, Procter & Gamble Fellowship, and finalist for BioFlux Innovation Award. Her research has resulted in dozens of published manuscripts and conference abstracts, and patent applications so far. Dr. Camci-Unal’s work has been published in high impact journals such as Advanced Materials, Nature Asia Materials, JACS, Biomaterials, Lab on a Chip, Soft Matter, and Tissue Engineering. She is an Editorial Board member of Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group), Journal of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine Research, International Journal of Cardiovascular Research, International Journal of Bioprinting, and Journal of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering. On this episode we will hear from Dr. Camci-Unal about : - Her background - how she developed an interest in science, in chemical engineering, and in regenerative medicine - An overview of her work in the area of novel bio-materials for regenerative medicine and the importance of inexpensive substrates for wide scale, cost effective use within the global population - An overview of the themes of "origami-inspired tissue engineering", and "organ-on-paper disease models" - Her future visions for clinical translation of such tools - Current work in the field of low-cost point of care diagnostics for Covid-19. Gregory J. Nowak, a partner and practice leader for hedge funds in Pepper Hamilton's Private Fund Services Practice Group, hosts a series of candid, interactive webinar discussions for West LegalEdcenter on what is going on now in the investment management world, including issues that affect private funds and their managers. Internet 1.0 is HTML websites. Internet 2.0 is a social network and user-created content. Internet 3.0 is the decentralization of everything: decentralization of marketplaces, resources usage and allocation, etc. Is Internet 3.0 the P2P of everything? This month, Mr. Nowak is joined by George Popescu, editor in chief, Blockchain Times and Lending Times; Mohamed El Dessouki, CEO, JACS; Shawn Belcher, executive director, Tezos Commons; and Salvatore Buccellato, partner, EtherDelta, to discuss legal and regulatory aspects of working on the Internet 3.0 framework. This podcast is a recording of their discussion.
