Visit https://www.holley.com and tell them we sent you! ======================================== Roadkill – Finale As you have heard already the rumors circulating the closing of Motor Trend Productions are all true. Unfortunately the shows housed and produced by Motor Trend are no more. This does include “Roadkill,” its flagship and genre changing show. It's a bi-product of being owned by a large conglomerate as well as being a niche of a niche of entertainment media. All episodes filmed not yet released will be aired over the winter of 2025/2025 but no further will be created. We discussed the news of it all and and some point we'll have Mike Finnegan our friend (and Kibbe and Finnegan show co-founder) on to chat about it. No matter what spin you put on it the reality of Roadkill both creating and changing the automotive space are complexly undeniable. David Frieburger and Mike Finnegan made a team that were the best of the best in automotive tom-foolery entertainment. We loved them too! David Freiburger has given a good explanation the situation along with what's next for the full band of Motor Trend characters (visit TheDrive.com for more on that). While none of us know whether Roadkill will ever return on a different platform, it does seem like the sun has set on it and this last piece of legacy automotive media is officially over. In the short term we know that everyone has moved on to YouTube (if they hadn't already) and we can continue to have them in our lives there! Thanks, boys. It was magical! ======================================== Thanksgiving Movie Review: "Tower Heist" K&F Movie Summary: Tower Heist is the automotive Thanksgiving movie classic you didn't know you were missing until now, especially if you're Corndog! This movie stars a MASSIVE cadre os actors including Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Alan Alda, Casey Afflect, Tea Leoni, Mechael Pena, and Matthew Broderick. This is the tale of a group of not quite as cool as Oceans 11 people that get taken by a Ponzi scheme by Hawkeye from MASH. And then – to get their money back – they steal Steve McQueen's Ferrari from the top of Trump Tower during the Thanksgiving Parade, all using a handy roof crane. You will laugh, you will squirm, and you will probably be looking up during the Thanksgiving Day Parade from here on out…..so you don't get squished by a Ferrari made of gold. This movie is a forgotten gem that has everything going for it. ======================================== Join up via Patreon at patreon.com/KFSHOW Kibbe, Corndog, and the Bern! Dan Navarro Live on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson They say you can never go home- they didn't have their old pal Dan Navarro on their show––took me right back to shared memories with Chloris Leachman in the living room, the Mets winning a 2015 playoff game at Dodger Stadium (unlike today), seeing Lori Lieberman at The Grammy Museum, Mike Finnegan at The Levitt Pavilion, NAMM hangs, my book launch, a 12 Step meeting, good food, a few of these here shows before and during the pandemic… It's always warm and comfy as if no time has passed. We touched on Dan's early days, his creative parents, his famous cousin, Dave, a horrific family tragedy, starting out on horns, finding his voice, literally, writing songs, being a singing waiter at The Great American Food & Beverage Company, with a host of others who found success, including Eric Lowen, who would become his partner, and begin their relationship co-writing the iconic, We Belong, and selling it to Pat Benetar, before it came to have a life of its own, putting out 12 albums, touring for decades, also writing for the Bangles and others, before Lowen's untimely death. Dan, through it all, also voiced TV shows, including The Family Guy and American Dad, still to this day, as well as over 100 commercials, sang in the films Happy Feet, two Ice Age pictures, Rio, The Lorax, to name just some. The secret to his success? Go for it. Persistence. The only answer is “Yes.” It's worked pretty well for him. Dan told innumerable stories to exemplify his point. A man of service, Dan has served as SAG-AFTRA's National Vice President of Recording Artists/Singers, and is still on the board, he is a Trustee of the AFM & SAG-AFTRA Intellectual Property Rights Distribution Fund, is a member of the Mechanical Licensing Collective's Unclaimed Royalties Oversight Committee, and is on the board of the Artists rights alliance, and recently spoke before the House Judiciary Committee on AI, where, in solution, he has been quoted requesting, the 3 Cs: Consent, Credit, Compensation. Dan treated us to a passionate We Belong, and a gorgeous Rose In the WIndow, his collaboration with the late Preston Sturges from his latest album, Horizon Line. This time with Dan was heartwarming and soul-filling and will stay with me for a long time to come. Being in Dan's good company is always inspiring, always fun, even if we are in the midst of our Mets/Dodgers rivalry. Go Mets! It was part of the "DukesCast" segment...and predates the Kibbe and Friends show entirely! This episodes is THE episode with every last detail on the Daisy Roadrunner that Corndog is creating his replica of! His car will be at MOPARTY 2024 for Catherine Bach's use! K&F Show Summary: In this second ever episode of the Dukes of Hazzard we learn that Daisy Duke is an aspiring songstress. She spends her own money to have a song published, it is, and it is then recorded professionally but a real country singer.,......all so that we get to watch her show up in a 70's one piece that is definitely still in fashion. Bo and Luke trick the bad guys into thinking Daisy can be an "AI" impersonator of real singers so they can then sell the now fake records for real money. And it turns out that the bad guys are really run by Boss Hogg, which is honeying up to women and trying to get in cahoots with - effectively - the mob! This may be the weirdest, coolest, and most true-to-it's creator (Gy Waldron) episode ever…..and it has the full details on the Daisy RoadRunner that our man Corndog is preparing this very second. 10 Corndogs! The Catholic church has a go-to playbook to avoid liability in child sex abuse cases. Join Renee Williams as she interviews Attorney Jeff Anderson and Attorney Mike Finnegan from Jeff Anderson & Associates, one of the most recognized law firms in the nation that represents victims of childhood sexual abuse, as they discuss how and why the Church uses bankruptcy to avoid helping their victims.By filing for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the Catholic church is able to hide its assets and pay less to abuse survivors while halting all abuse litigation. Consequently, by putting bankruptcy rules and deadlines into place, the organization is even protected from future litigation if more victims were to come forward after the deadline has passed.Tune in to listen to Jeff Anderson and Mike Finnegan as they discuss how the Church gets away with this and what's being done to fight back on behalf of survivors.

Mike is an all around great dude, loved in the automotive entertainment industry, and was the original co-host of the Kibbe and Finnegan Podcast Show (which became Kibbe and Friends in 2019). This week marks the end of the second phase of our sister show "The Kibbe and Friends Show" where we reviewed the final episode of all 7 seasons of The Dukes of Hazzard. David Newbern was always into cars, but he wasn't always into cars on-camera. That is, until someone named Mike Finnegan moved nearby and needed shears and a finger brake. Growing up, David tagged along with his father to every car show possible, watching while his dad worked a kind of car guy magic to trade cars on the spot. They'd show up in one, and drive home in another, which happened as many as 20 times. His father's habit of swapping cars on a moment's notice gave a young gearhead practice on the idiosyncrasies of various cars and engines. Before his television career, David made a profession out of installing gates, security cameras and construction. On the side, he was always building something with a passion to get it rolling as soon as possible. After trading his ‘71 Camaro for a ‘26 Essex Coupe, the Buick nailhead began knocking as soon as he got it home. He had a 2004 LS1 on the garage floor before LS swaps were common and made it work. That old spirit of getting it running no matter what made David fit right in with the Roadkill crew. The rest, we already know. We've always been big fans of David and it was a pleasure to have him on the podcast. Follow David on Instagram @DavidNewbern Watch him on Finnegans Garage, Faster with Finnegan, Roadkill and more.

Calling all unsung heroes. That's right, you over there who can read music and write compositions with something to say. Unsung heroes have been prevalent on the JFS, Guys who oozed the cosmic plasma of listening to each other. When everyone is listening then and only then can magic occur. My guest today is a listener, singer, song writer and individualist. He could have chosen the route of Studio City, playing sessions, getting union scale and an identity. He chose not to do this rather making a big imprint on the musical landscape during the days that mixed race bands had crossover appeal because they could play at some upholstered sewer in Cape Cod for a week two weeks- a month. His imprint is also attributable to the fact that people like Arif Mardin, Jerry Wexler, Norman Granz and Saul Zaentz were business men who understood the musicians craft. They saw the bigger picture, both sonically and sociologically. They wanted to make money but they understood the lineage that exists in music and when those links are missing. You see when links are missing it begins to dilute our cultural heritage, music serves to pacify instead of elevate consciousness. When the individual supersedes the music then no one is listening and no magic can occur. Trust me, Mingus, Roach and Dizzy are convulsing in their graves. My guest plays with his band in Marin County these days for fun. What a concept? How do you think real music is made? Recently he has been writing some songs with former bandmate and collaborator Mike Finnegan who continues to use my guests tunes on his own albums. Calling all unsung heroes Lane Tietgen welcome to the JFS

FEATURE INTERVIEW with DAVID FREIBURGER: We're as shocked as you are. Five-and-a-half years after launching this show with Mike Finnegan we have finally landed his (one time) boss, mentor, adventurer, and Roadkillinginly cool buddy David Freiburger! David has become a staple in the automotive media landscape having spent 20-plus years in print before he ever came to YouTube and Television. He just recently penned his final piece for the February 2022 edition Hot Rod Magazine and last year filmed 61 individual episodes for various shows on the Motor Trend platform (Roadkill, Roadkill Garage, Engine Masters, etc.). In this discussion you'll learn what we all really wanted to know about living life in the fast lane, working a seemingly endless schedule, and never getting the chance to completely finish any project. Like us, David grew up believing that 1968 and '69 Chargers were it when it came to the all invulnerable muscle car, as powerful as it is cool looking, as desirable to others as it faithful to its owner. He enjoyed the Chargers of The Dukes of Hazzard (and has stories to tell), Dirty Marty Crazy Larry, and others, but his favorite is the one that he and Finnegan built together: General Mayhem. If you've followed that car over the years you know it has gone from a motorhome powered drifting underdog to a Hellcat powered drag car. David loved the first iteration of it and he's just recently put it back to it's original glory. Patreon Peeps, the year 2021 will be an important one for Patreon specifically, and if you'd consider jumping up to the $5 level it would sure help. This week, marks the return yet again of Mike Finnegan to give us an update on what has been happening around Finnegan's Garage, on Roadkill, and on his recently renewed show Faster with Finnegan. Of course his most famous work was on the Kibbe and Finnegan Podcast. Seriously though, Mike has been a good friend over the years and it's always a fun (and usually happily dumb) catchup. Mike Finnegan is a self-taught engine builder, skilled fabricator, lifelong tinkerer, semi-pro drag boat racer and the host of the shows "Roadkill" and "Finnegan's Garage." This renaissance man learns by doing. And in his world, that sometimes involves busted vehicles or broken bones. From his home base in Atlanta, Mike sits down with Bryan and Alex to talk about his career as a journalist, learning from failure, the decline of apprenticeships, and how self-driving technology could make drag racing safer. Oh the whispering pines.....the Appalachian trail carving out a pathway towards the Mississippi Delta. The old hickory BBQ and the bourbon and the blending of gospel, blues, Bayou boogie and Jayhawkin' through the cornfields. My guest hails from the great state of Kansas. He has done and seen it all in music. Played at the Grand Ole Opry, local watering holes, Medicine Shows, Mafia laden clubs and lesbian joints. That's before during and after being a swing man on the Kansas Men's Basketball team taking a page out of Pistol Pete Maravich's play book. But my guests career runs thick, with a fearlessness and security that still holds up today. He has played with Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Hahn, Richard Manuel, Mac Rebenack, George Marsh, Maria Muldaur and Mel Graves. He has awed people over the years with his propensity to lean on that Hammond B-3 and illicit the sounds of the church and the bay, and sittin on a dock in muscle schoals Alabama with a cowboy hat and a maverick attitude. He has made albums as a leader and been a prolific sideman. He has always wanted to reflect in his music a genuine sense of originality and playing music- not the type that can be labeled, just music. That will be on full display today at the Early Bird Cafe. This week is a special Thanksgiving Special SEMA show with Dan Kahn and Jon Chase. This is a fun to listen to show with a couple great guys live from the show floor! Interview #1 : It was a huge pleasure to sit down again with my friend Dan Kahn and do a "State of the Nation" style discussion on the topic of SEMA - both the trade show itself as well as the organization. Dan and I met each other years past and hosted a popular podcast called "Cars for a Living" for several years together. Today Dan's company "Kahn Media" is the PR powerhouse of choice for automotive aftermarket companies businesses. He is heavily involved with SEMA and sits on the board of directors - and just a few hours after this interview he was suprprised to win the 2019 SEMA Person of the Year award! In this interview he explains his involvement with SEMA now and many insights into one of the most interesting parts of this industry. The Battle of the Builders discussion itself is worth the price of admissions! Check out Kahn Media at their website Kahnmedia.com Interview #2 : Jon Chase of Hoonigan fame is another person I met years past at SEMA, thanks to the podcast . He himself has been a guest on our show - twice! The first interview was episode #159 where he talked about his dream job designing automotive toys for Maisto, as a designer for Muscle Machines. Later Jon was back on the show in episode 368 where he talked about his new dream job of Brand Manager and Art Director at Hoonigan. He has also designed clothing, promotional media, and raced his '55 Chevy against Mike Finnegan's (a re-match is in the works). HOONIGAN is a huge success in our industry today and this was a full discussion on that as well. You can find out more at Hoonigan.com. This week our guest was Tommy Lee Byrd,Marketing and PR Coordinator for the Coker Tire Company. He is from Tennessee and was referred to us by Mike Finnegan. He grew up around drag cars and racing so when he went off to college he just wanted to be around cars. Tommy's dad even sold everything he could to buy him a 64 Corvette coupe as a gift. He also owns a 1964 Chevelle that is his "Grandma car" and just plain fun to drive around in. Coker tire got it's start in 1960 when Harold Coker purchased a BF Goodrich dealership in Chatanooga TN and got access to the manufacturer of tires. He started ordering special build tires for antique vehicles made from antique tire molds. He either had the rights to use the name of the old tire manufacturers are he simply put Coker on the sidewalls and a brand was born. The family would go to car shows and advertise the tire at events catering to that market. Coker built up it's collection of old tire molds after they were discontinued by the manufacturer. Tommy Lee Byrd with his daughter and his 64 Corvette By having contacts at the major tire manufacturers, they were able to make agreements to continue using the brand names on the tire made with these old molds. Tommy said that the radial tires with wide white walls that look like originals has really been Coker's trademark over the years. Modern radials have better ride and tire life and really enhance the old vehicles in comfort and safety. The original Coker radial was the companies own design to be like the classic tires customers were looking for. Coker's American classic tires are made in the USA using Coker molds. We talk about his C10 Project, His latest Squarebody Ramp Truck, and his thoughts about the move of Roadkill to MotorTrend.
In this episode I spoke to Sean Holman, half of the Lightning and Holman duo that hosts the hit podcast "The Truck Show" for Motortrend. Mike Finnegan introduced us and the two shows have collaborated on a few things over the last year. Sean has always been fascinated with automotive topics and trucks but his start is not the typical story. Early on, Sean obtained a degree in criminal justice and wanted to be an officer. Unfortunately he did not like the bureaucracy and started looking for alternatives to his chosen career. On Sept 11, 2001 he was working in a Boeing factory working security supporting the Shuttle missions and had to make sure the plant was shut down and secure right after the attacks. Employees were watching the skies and listening to silence, unsure of what would happen next. Sean made the jump out of security right after that, by making contacts at Primedia and working his way into being the associate editor of Truckin' magazine. The post TMCP #392: Sean Holman of The Truck Show Podcast; Loud, Proud, and Sometimes Annoying – Ask Rick, Why Isn’t All Shipping “Free?” first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.
