Medusa was a beautiful maiden in a family of monsters. One day as she prayed to the Goddess Athena (a personification of the rational) she was seduced by Poseidon (the irrational force). Punished by Athena, her face became terrifying to look at and her glorious hair became writhing coiled snakes. Welcome to the realm of Scorpio. It's in this arena that we are able to go deep, to explore the hidden world, go to the uncomfortable places and reclaim the hidden thoughts, desires and drives. Like Medusa, this kind of material can be difficult to look at straight on. We may need a little assistance along the way. Hence the hero Perseus uses the reflection of the shield in order to remove the heady process that such traumatic material can plunge us into. Today we are going to talk about the implication your archetypes may have on your romance and long term relationships. This is part of my new podcast series "Becoming a Goddess", in which I talk about Goddess, Archetype, Hero Journey, Feminine Power and how they all tie in and help you to gain a deeper understanding about yourself and decisions pattern you have. Two weeks ago on my podcast, I talked about goddess archetypes and how they may influence your career choices and motivation. You may like to check that if you are thinking about changing your career or trying to improve your current situation. How our archetype may affect our romantic relationship? Imagine you have the Goddess Athena as an archetype, the ultimate strategist, most likely a successful businesswoman or someone who is highly accomplished in your career or study of choice. You aren't likely to find yourself attracted to someone who doesn't have a care in the world, uninspired or just living life through motion, right? Or as an Artemis incarnate, think of someone who is passionate about protecting our environment, bringing justice to our society, rescuing animals in nature or helping women or children in poverty. A woman who works for the right cause and vision. Do you think you will fancy someone who is putting corporate profit first or being lightweight on moral and social justice? No way, right? I think you can see where I am going with this. Your archetypes affect your personal interests, behavioural patterns, intellectual and emotional responses as well as decision making. What is an archetype? In a nutshell, archetypes are our inner patterns, they reflect our unconscious choices, inclination, interests and personalities. If we understand our own archetypal influences, we can understand how we related to others and the decisions we make. By discovering our archetypes, it helps us to better understand ourselves. I wrote about the six Greek Goddess Archetypes extensively in my first book Goddess with Many Faces and today I want to focus on how they affect our relationships. Just to mention the reason I use Goddess Archetypes is that I love the Goddess myths, they reflect the complexity of women and yet we can understand, relate and resonate with them. Many people use other archetypes, some use the Tarot system, some focus on a few women at different stages of life. I like Goddess and I found them highly relatable when I use them to explain to my coaching clients. Anyway, the key is this - you are born with certain goddess archetypes that are dominant in your psyche, however, it may change due to your circumstances or personal growth. So, basically both nature and nurture play a part. Now, going back to your relationship pattern, how is it helpful for us in terms of choosing our partners or creating a relationship? Understand Your Relationship Pattern First of all, knowing our inner patterns makes a huge difference in terms of understanding what we need to be mindful of or why we tend to fall into certain patterns. Go back to Athena's example, she is strong-minded, a highly intellectual person, and often in a sense, disconnected from her emotional and physical body. So for an Athena entering a new stage in life where she is looking for personal growth, she may find herself in a new relationship with someone who has the capacity to support her to tune in with her inner wisdom or to encourage her to slow down in life. She may never think that will be a man or woman she would like to enter a relationship with, but she may not be aware she is also changing herself so that is in fact really helpful for her. Would she likely to push him away or find it hard to comprehend the attraction at the beginning? Most likely, because he is different or even uncomfortable for her. Considerations for a Long Term Relationship Now think about the archetype of Demeter, the mother and nurturer.

After attending a professional wrestling training session, in order to watch a friend, Stevens decided to become a wrestler and joined the training school. After several weeks, veteran wrestler Tracy Smothers took him under his wing and became his trainer and mentor. Stevens debuted in 1998 under a mask as "Glacius", losing to fellow trainee Johnny B. Dazzled. The Naturals began working for Jerry Lawler's Memphis Wrestling promotion in 2003, where they were renamed "The Alternative Express". The Alternative Express - a Gothic pair of rock fans who wore black clothing and recolored their hair and fingernails - were managed by The Goddess Athena.The Naturals were brought into TNA in late 2003, immediately beginning a lengthy feud with America's Most Wanted. In the course of the feud, they defeated America's Most Wanted for the NWA World Tag Team Championship on July 7, 2004. The Naturals successfully defended their titles against Triple X, but were eventually beaten by Chris Harris and Elix Skipper (one member of each team) on September 8, 2004. In 2005, The Naturals formed an alliance with Chris Candido, who also became their manager. On April 26, they defeated America's Most Wanted to become NWA World Tag Team Champions for a second time. The sudden death of Candido two days later led to a surge in popularity for The Naturals, eventually turning them into fan favorites. On June 19, 2005 at Slammiversary, The Naturals were assisted in a title defense against Team Canada by Jimmy Hart. Athena is best known for Her role within the Patriarchal culture of Ancient Greece. She was venerated as protector of the City State. She was also the one called upon to counsel and guide the generals sending their warriors into battle. Athena was also seen as the patron of the hero’s journey and was often linked with Nike, the angel of Victory. Veneration of Athena was brought to Britain by the Roman Emperor Hadrian. The Goddess Athena was named Britannia and became adopted later on as an emblem of the British Empire. Yet, Athena has much deeper roots that go back into the mists of time. Athena was venerated long before Greek civilisation as we know it. She was connected with ancient snake priestess cults and in these times, serpents were seen as wise portents and bringers of luck and joy. She, became also associated with the owl, which both symbolises wisdom and the ability to see through darkness. In this time of awakening and ascension the Goddess is returning. The Goddess Athena can be called upon by those assailed by strong difficulty, aggression and conflict in this time of volatility upon the earth-plane.
