Send us a textTrauma isn't only about what happened—it's about what happened inside your nervous system when an experience was too much, too fast, too soon, or too long, without enough support, choice, or protection. In this episode, we clarify what trauma is (and isn't), using simple, polyvagal-informed language—so you can replace shame and confusion with understanding. You'll also be guided through a short grounding practice you can use anytime. In this episode, you'll learnA clear, compassionate definition of trauma that goes beyond the “one big event” narrativeWhy two people can experience similar events and be impacted differentlyThe difference between stress and trauma (and why that matters)Why trauma responses are adaptations, not character flawsHow trauma can be remembered as sensations, triggers, and patterns—not just a storyA simple polyvagal lens: safety & connection, mobilised protection (fight/flight), and shutdown protectionA short, trauma-neutral grounding practice to support regulationGentle remindersTrauma is not a competition. You don't need to justify your pain.If your body reacts while listening—tightness, racing thoughts, numbness—this is information, not failure. You're invited to pause, skip ahead, or return later. Send us a textWelcome to the first episode of my new series “The Many Faces of Trauma.” In this opening episode, I share why I'm creating this series and how I'll guide you through different trauma types in a way that's clear, gentle, and not overwhelming. I introduce the “trauma map” I'll be using across two seasons, explain what I mean by “trauma types” (as pathways, not labels), and offer a simple, polyvagal-informed way to understand what your nervous system may be doing. In this episode, I coverWhy I'm creating a trauma-types series—and how naming can reduce shameWhat I mean by “trauma type” (a pathway, not a box you live in)This series is structured across two seasons, so you can go at your own paceThe five big pathways:FoundationsEarly imprint traumaEvent-based traumaSociety-shaped & environment-based traumaWhat trauma can become (including how trauma can affect the body)My simple, plain-language polyvagal map of nervous system states:Safety & connection - ventral Mobilised protection (fight/flight) - sympatheticShutdown protection (numb/freeze/collapse) - dorsalHow to listen in a way that supports your system Gentle content noteIn this episode, I talk about trauma in general terms with no graphic detail. You're always welcome to pause, step away, or come back later.Grounding practiceI guide you through a brief practice that's safe for most people, including:Orienting (noticing a few neutral objects around you)Longer-exhale breathingContact + choice (feeling support in your body and naming one small next step)How I recommend you use this seriesYou don't have to listen in order; start where you feel steady or curiousYou may relate to more than one episode (that's common)This series is not a diagnosis tool; it's a map for understanding and supportI invite you to check my website for the free resources offered for both those affected by trauma and those supporting them.Coming next: When the BodySupport the show

In this talk, Jogen reflects on joy not as something to be manufactured, but as a natural expression that arises when we stop getting in the way of our own experience. Drawing from Zen practice and everyday life, he explores several forms of joy: the brightness of nowness and sensory vividness, the steadiness of samadhi, the intimacy of non-separation, the ease of a clean conscience, the warmth of an undefended heart, and the quiet fulfillment that comes from generosity. Together, these point to a joy that is not dependent on circumstances, but emerges from presence, ethical clarity, and a mind at rest in itself. This talk was given at Heart of Wisdom Zen temple of December 10 2025. ★ Support this podcast ★
Who is Jesus, really? People debated it in Jesus’s day and continue to debate it today. Is Jesus a gentle savior, a fierce revolutionary, a kind friend, an uncompromising prophet, or a warrior king? In this session, we examine the implications of these answers, for how we answer this question often says more about us than it does about Jesus himself.

In this episode, Chance and Dylan dive deep into the many identities hidden behind the name “Moses.”We explore how ancient authors described Moses in the plural, why his story echoes across multiple cultures, and how the archetype of the persecuted child appears everywhere from Greece to Egypt. The conversation uncovers striking parallels between Moses, Bacchus, and other mythic river-gods, revealing the importance of water symbolism, astro-theology, and cyclical creation myths. We also examine the roles of the Muses and Nymphs, the Egyptian influence on biblical narratives, and the allegorical layers beneath the Exodus tradition. This episode blends mythology, philology, and ancient history, showing how deeply interconnected these stories truly are — and how the figure of Moses reflects a much older, broader, and more universal mythic pattern.EXTENDED EPISODE FOR MEMBERS ONLYPatreon - https://www.patreon.com/posts/144912153Substack - https://innerversepodcast.substack.com/p/the-many-faces-of-moses-and-the-greekYT - https://youtu.be/Y89lcpoahwcLINKSBiofield Tuning with Chance: https://www.innerversepodcast.com/sound-healingSpirit Whirled Audiobooks: https://www.innerversepodcast.com/audiobooksDylan Saccoccio on Substack: https://www.substack.com/greattideSUPPORT

In January 2025, Rolling Stone published an article by Cheyenne Roundtree and Nancy Dillon titled "As Sean Combs' ‘Love' Era Began, New Accusers Say He Was Still a ‘Demon'." The piece examines Sean "Diddy" Combs' public rebranding as a changed man, contrasting it with recent allegations suggesting continued abusive behavior. Despite Combs' claims of personal growth following a 2016 incident where he was recorded assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, multiple sources allege that his abusive actions persisted well beyond this purported turning point. The article details accounts from new accusers who describe experiences of manipulation, coercion, and violence at the hands of Combs. These allegations challenge the narrative of redemption that Combs has promoted, painting a picture of ongoing misconduct that contradicts his public persona during his "Love" era. The piece underscores the disparity between Combs' professed transformation and the troubling claims of those who have come forward, suggesting that his abusive behavior did not cease as he has asserted.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Sean 'Diddy' Combs Was a ‘Demon' in 'Love' Era, New Accusers Say

This month on Lazy Code, Dan teams up with Halina Brooke and Leon “Buttons” Kirkbeck to swap eerie doppelganger encounters, and wonder whether look-alike humans are just copy-pasted assets from a lazy cosmic developer. Leon does his best to keep the quantum-adjacent nonsense from imploding into metaphysical spaghetti, while Dan and Helena chase down the big question: are doppelgangers evidence of a glitch in the Matrix…or just proof that humans come in dangerously similar templates?

A cutaneous bacterial infection can appear as crusting, erythema, scaling, moth-eaten alopecia, epidermal collarette, etc. Differentials can also be varied. LifeStance therapist Yolanda Frantzich joins us for an in-depth look at domestic violence—its prevalence, its patterns, and the wide range of abusive behaviors it can involve. Yolanda combines her clinical knowledge with personal experience, describing how her own past relationship inspired her to pursue a career in therapy. She breaks down the many forms of abuse, including physical harm, emotional manipulation, sexual coercion, financial control, and the growing impact of technological abuse such as digital monitoring and harassment. The conversation also delves into the systemic and psychological factors that keep victims trapped, including isolation, shame, and trauma bonding. Yolanda further shares the devastating story of her sister's death due to domestic violence, underscoring the urgent need for early recognition of warning signs and timely intervention. This episode provides actionable insights, raises awareness about the complexity of domestic violence, and reinforces the message that support is available—and that no one should feel compelled to stay in an abusive relationship.
As Camping for Hunger Week sweeps through Warren County, the spirit of giving is palpable. Yet, for organizations like Winchester CCAP, the need for support extends far beyond a single week. In this episode of "The Valley Today," host Janet Michael sits down with Andrea Cosans, Executive Director of Winchester CCAP, to shed light on the organization's tireless efforts to combat food insecurity and support local families. Meeting the Rising Demand From the outset, Andrea paints a vivid picture of the growing challenges facing the community. "Our reception area is not that large," she explains, "but this morning I came in and there were about a hundred people waiting." The surge in demand, fueled by economic pressures and government shutdowns, has left CCAP's shelves bare and its staff scrambling to meet the needs of families who are struggling to make ends meet. Beyond Food: Holistic Support However, Winchester CCAP's mission goes well beyond providing food. Andrea enthusiastically describes a range of innovative programs designed to address the root causes of hardship. The organization's clothing boutique offers free, gently used clothing to families, while the steel-toed boots and bicycle programs help remove barriers to employment. "If steel-toed boots are a barrier to work, we try and work with you to get them," Andrea says, highlighting CCAP's commitment to practical solutions. The Power of Partnerships Transitioning to the topic of collaboration, Janet and Andrea discuss the importance of partnerships with other nonprofits, local businesses, and volunteers. Whether it's sourcing firewood for families in need or sharing surplus food with neighboring pantries, CCAP leverages a network of community allies to maximize its impact. Andrea shares inspiring stories of local businesses stepping up—sometimes on a moment's notice—to provide critical resources, demonstrating the power of collective action. Stories of Resilience Throughout the conversation, Andrea shares moving anecdotes that underscore the transformative power of community support. She recounts the journey of a woman who, after receiving help from CCAP two decades ago, now owns a successful business and gives back to others. These stories, woven with empathy and hope, illustrate how a helping hand can change the trajectory of a life. How to Get Involved As the episode draws to a close, Janet and Andrea encourage listeners to get involved—whether by donating food, volunteering time, or contributing financially. "We are a deep pit of never-ending need, in a good way," Andrea laughs, emphasizing that every act of kindness strengthens the fabric of the community. Learn how you can help: https://ccapwinchester.org/ Looking Ahead Ultimately, this conversation serves as a powerful reminder that the fight against hunger and hardship is ongoing. Through innovative programs, strong partnerships, and a steadfast commitment to their mission, Winchester CCAP continues to be a beacon of hope for the Valley. As Andrea puts it, "If we help each other, we can be stronger and help the community."

Recorded October 1st, 2025. A seminar by Dr Peter Rogers (Macquarie University, Australia) as part of the Medical and Health Humanities Seminar Series. This talk will discuss how to translate a travelling concept with different meanings for different audiences into practical and deliverable projects. Peter will highlight examples of projects that seek to build resilience, from physical infrastructure interventions to ways of working differently to identifying, analysing, preparing for, preventing, responding to and recovering from emergent challenges - such as mental health resilience in the age of climate change. The talk will highlight how no single approach can work everywhere, whilst awareness of the many faces of resilience can improve the coordination of common goals (and deliverable outcomes) for the diverse stakeholders seeking to build resilience, in one form or another. About the speaker: Peter is a social scientist with primary expertise in resilience, in all its forms. He is Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Macquarie University, Australia, and was Co-Director of 'Climate Futures' research centre from 2011-15. He has been an active researcher and consultant on resilience policy for many years. His published works include Resilience and the City (Ashgate. 2012) and The Everyday Resilience of the City (with Coaffee & Murakami-Wood. Palgrave, 2008). His forthcoming book on Resilience: Origins and Evolutions (Edward Elgar - 2026) brings together the disparate threads of his nearly 20 years of research on this topic into one volume. We think we know what poverty looks like, but what if the number in a person's bank account is one of the least important parts of the story? A family earning $3 a day might seem fine, but what if they have no clean water, no local school, and no healthcare? Our latest article dives deep into "multidimensional poverty," exploring how the real story of hardship is told not in dollars, but in access to opportunity and a dignified life. This will change the way you think about one of the world's most pressing issues. Who's the “real” Anne Boleyn—the medal, the portraits, or the version we've imagined? In this interview, Helene Harrison joins me to discuss her book The Many Faces of Anne Boleyn: Interpreting Image and Perception—not a biography, but a study of how Anne has been seen across centuries. We explore: What readers should unlearn about Anne's image Beyond the 1534 medal: which likeness may come closest—and which is most misleading Foreign observers (ambassadors, visitors): who reads Anne well, and who writes with an agenda? Evidence vs. imagination: where the record ends and interpretation begins Stage/film/TV: what one portrayal gets right—and what most get wrong I'm Claire Ridgway, historian, author, and host of the Anne Boleyn Files & Tudor Society. The Many Faces of Light: Understanding Light Runners, Light Healers, Light Changers, Light Bearers, and Light LeadersFor centuries, humanity has spoken of those who carry spiritual awareness and cosmic connection as workers of light. Across traditions, they've been called mystics, shamans, healers, prophets, seers, and guides. In today's spiritual language, five distinct archetypes shine brightly: Light Runner, Light Healer, Light Changer, Light Bearer, and Light Leader. While each shares the common essence of divine illumination, their expressions are unique—woven into the greater tapestry of human awakening. In this episode, Laurie explores how these different paths of light show up in service, energy, action, and consciousness, and what they reveal about your own spiritual role.At the heart of this conversation is the powerful metaphor of light:· Awareness and clarity to see what is true· Healing and transformation as illumination dissolves shadow· Hope and guidance, like a flame leading the way· The spark of divine presence alive within every soulJoin Laurie to discover the many ways light moves through us—and how recognizing your own archetype can empower your journey of awakening.Send us a textSupport the showThanks for listening - For questions or comments email Laurie at Laurie@yourlifecore.comInstagram @yourlifecore or Twitter @yourlifecore Facebook https://www.facebook.com/YourLifecoreWebsite www.yourlifecore.com

Host Natalie Grueninger welcomes historian Helene Harrison to explore how Anne Boleyn crafted her image and how it was reshaped after her death. They discuss Anne's coronation symbolism, self-fashioning, and efforts by Henry VIII's court to win public favour. The conversation examines key portraits and artefacts—from the Hever Rose portrait and the Chequers ring to the 1534 medal—and the ongoing debates around their dating and identification. Helen traces contemporary reactions at home and abroad, Anne's reappearance in Elizabeth I's reign, and the clash between Nicholas Sander and John Foxe. She then follows Anne's evolving legacy through Stuart drama, Victorian myth‑making, and modern screen portrayals, including Anne of the Thousand Days, The Tudors, Wolf Hall, and Six the Musical. Helene also shares details of her new book, The Many Faces of Anne Boleyn, teases a forthcoming study of Henry VIII's Great Matter, and offers a lighthearted Tudor-themed reading recommendation. True Crime Tuesday presents: Greg Scarpa, Legendary Evil: The Many Faces of a Mafia Killer with Lawyer/Historian/Researcher/Author, Jonathan Dyer! Goodfellow, capo, killer, thief. A man so diabolically evil that he ordered his eldest son to murder his closest associate, and his youngest son to murder his best friend. When Greg Scarpa was in his early twenties he became a goodfellow in the Profaci family by swearing a blood oath to the Mafia, at the time the country's largest organized-crime syndicate. And for 25 years he betrayed that oath and the men closest to him by acting as a paid informant for the FBI. He fed America's premier law enforcement agency a steady stream of self-serving information accusing the men who trusted him with their lives of every crime he was himself committing. During those 25 years of treachery, Scarpa was a one-man crime wave who spent only 30 days behind bars thanks to his status as the FBI's ultimate Mafia insider. His standing as a prized informant freed him to engage in mayhem and murder knowing he had a virtual license to kill with reckless abandon. Greg Scarpa, Legendary Evil is a deep dive that provides fresh insight into Scarpa's malignant personality. Dyer peels back the layers of myth and misdirection to paint as complete and accurate a picture as possible of a man who murdered his enemies and betrayed his friends, of a bigamist who loved only money, of a feared and reviled man whose destructive appetites knew no bounds. On today's TCT, Jonathan Dyer sits down with us to talk about the complexities and dualities of the killer known as Greg Scarpa! Why did he treat he friends like family? His family like hired help? and why were his loyalties split down the middle between the Mafia and the FBI? How could a cold blooded, psychopathic killer still believe in doing the right thing?!
