I remember the first time I spoke with Dawn Ward, she shared how she had some really tough times with the addiction of two of her children. She was hesitant to become an “expert” on the subject, yet God had other plans. He has taken her experience of making it through the worst of it to encourage other moms to make the best of it. Never easy, Dawn can understand what happens when your children succumb to the lure of the high, the need for the fix. To pay the hope forward she wrote From Guilt to Grace because she gets it. She wouldn't wish addiction on anyone. Dawn is the first guest in our Grief & Gratitude Series.Dawn has been on the show before in We Weren't Going to Have These Problems episode 208.You can find Dawn at The Faith to Flourish website. Thanks for being part of the UY conversation. The Unabashed You website has a page for each guest of photos, quotes and a blog with embedded audio at unabashedyou.com. I'm your host, Pascale Gibon. Sometimes, life happens, and rediscovering ourselves helps us identify what makes us feel alive. In episode 359, we will focus on an essential and often overlooked topic: bringing joy back into your life. We will look at your attitude to life, values, and habits and work on improving your wheel of life. Since you are listening to this episode, I assume you are committed to your personal growth. As you know, life is always happening for you and through you. It happens through you because your external environment reflects your internal state. In other words, if there is inner turmoil, life will seem gloomy and challenging. A more positive outlook that brings joy back is aligning your attitude (i.e. the combination of your thoughts, feelings and actions) with your values and habits. Reflective Questions Before we deep dive into values, habits and mindset, let me ask you this fundamental question: As a spiritual being having a human experience, what makes you feel alive? Is it the contentment you feel when you're fully present with your children and watching them grow? Or maybe it's the passion you have for your creative hobby that ignites your inner fire? Whatever it is, reconnecting with what brings you the greatest joy is crucial. Aligning your life with what brings you joy is a conscious and purposeful way of life to enhance your happiness. According to scientific research, purposefulness has many health benefits. It: Increases our happiness and well-being Motivates us and increases our enthusiasm Brings a smile to our face Increases our energy levels and drive Gives us momentum Helps us to be mindful and conscious of the simple things in life that make us feel alive: love, beauty, harmony, joy, passion, collaboration, relationship, peace, energy, creativity, etc. Enhances our sense of worthiness Stops us from being constantly engaged in meaningless tasks Creates emotional balance Gives us an upbeat reason to get up in the morning Helps us self-actualise So ask yourself: “What makes me feel alive and brings me the greatest joy?” Take pen to paper to answer this question. Your lack of joy may stem from a misalignment between your life choices and authentic values. Consequently, you are busy with things that, in reality, are not important to you because they are not top of value.  Let's reflect on your values across the different areas of your life using the Wheel of Life holistic coaching tool. The Wheel Of Life The wheel of life includes ten areas: Career Finances Health And Fitness Family and Friends Love relationship Personal Growth Fun and recreation Spirituality Physical Environment Contribution Do you value creativity, autonomy, or making a meaningful impact in your career? Is security, generosity, or building wealth most important to you in your finances? Take a moment to jot down what you value most in each domain. Let's do this exercise together: You will identify what you value the most in each area of your life and assess whether there is congruency between your core values and current reality. What do you value the most in your career? Next, what do you value the most in your finances? What do you value the most in your health and fitness? What do you value the most concerning your family and friends? What do you value the most in your love relationship? What do you value the most in your personal growth? What do you value the most in terms of fun and recreation? What about your spirituality? What do you value the most? What do you value the most regarding your physical environment? And lastly, what do you value the most in terms of your contribution? Now, look at the reality of your current situation. Are there any glaring incongruencies between your core values and how you are living your life? For instance, you might excel in creative expression, but find yourself trapped in a rigid corporate role that drains your spirit. Identifying these misalignments is the first step to reclaiming your joy. Developing Joyful Habits: Next, let's look at your daily habits. Do you have practices that actively cultivate joy and positive emotions? A simple yet powerful habit is a daily gratitude practice – taking a few moments each morning and evening to reflect on what you are thankful for. This routine enhances your emotional health; it shifts your mindset and helps you stay grounded in appreciation.  If you need help developing a Gratitude practice, I invite you to listen to the “7 Weeks of Gratitude Series.” It starts from episodes 315 to 321 of the Everyday Life Balance Show. How you start and end your day also significantly impacts your joy levels. Do you have an empowering morning routine that sets you up for an energised and productive day? Additionally, do you have a way to release work-related stress and be fully present with loved ones in the evenings?  Small rituals like breathing exercises, journaling, a digital sunset, or relaxing music can make a big difference. Sustaining A Positive Mindset: Ultimately, your state of mind is the gatekeeper to your joy. Do you set the intention to maintain a positive and peaceful mindset, no matter what challenges arise? Lastly, Do You Live With Heart? Do you bring joy to other people? Do you tell others how much you love them or appreciate them? When you approach life with an open heart and loving perspective, you will find beauty and wonder in the simple things. There is a lot to reflect upon in this episode. Remember you are the leading actor in the movie of your life. You can design a truly joyful and fulfilling life by aligning your passions, values, habits and mindset. The holistic coaching tool I recommend to enhance your experience is the Wheel of Life. I encourage you to take some time this week to delve deeply into this exercise. It could be the catalyst for a profound shift. Until next time, beautiful soul, I wish you a fantastic week filled with light, love and endless reasons to smile.

The journey of entrepreneurship is a trip – full of ups, downs, and unimaginable joy If I told you that five years from now, you'd be getting a text from one of your all-time favorite entrepreneurs, to make sure their launch didn't clash with yours – would you laugh? Right now, things like… …generating seven-figure revenue …having a 25-person team …being friends with the entrepreneurs you admire… May seem improbable… even impossible. But the truth is, you don't know what's ahead for you. Your wildest dreams probably don't even equate to what's actually going to unfold.  In this episode, I offer a reminder of everything you've been working so hard to build - as I reflect on the highs and lows of building a wildly successful business from nothing. I remember like yesterday how hard those early years were. And if you'd told me then that I'd have what I do now (the team, the revenue, the community, and a heart full of gratitude), I'd have laughed too. As for what I'm most grateful for in entrepreneurship… You're probably experiencing it right now. And in this special episode, I hope you'll realize that this experience is what will make you.  And don't forget, this episode is part of our Week of Gratitude & Giving – and you know what that means – I'm giving away a GRAND PRIZE. Jasmine Star opens up about the friendships she's truly grateful for in this heartwarming episode There are so many things to be grateful for as an entrepreneur -- the opportunity to do what you love, work from anywhere, and call all of the shots, just to name a few. But one thing on the list that often gets overlooked are those incredible friendships with other entrepreneurs that you create along your journey. It's those entrepreneurial friends who can help you through the tough times in ways that other supportive people in your life simply can't – not because they don't want to, but because they don't know exactly what you're going through.  For me, Jasmine Star has been one of those friends. She's been with me for the ups, the downs, and everything in between. And I'm there for her, too. I won't lie, what Jasmine shares in this episode brought me to tears. I was reminded of how grateful I am for her friendship, and also that I'm able to show up in a way that makes an impact on her, too. Frank Kilpatrick & Rayko join us to discuss their Gratitude Series - A Musical Path Toward Healing, which includes songs that introduce people to meditations for gratitude. It's so important to find richness in our everyday experiences. For so many of us, meditation can be difficult as it's a challenge to slow down our thoughts and our brains, but music is a way to accomplish this more easily. We will learn more about these concepts and how these artists got inspired to collaborate on this series, and we'll get to listen to The Awakening piece of their music.   Frank Kilpatrick created Gratitude to “draw attention to everything we have to be thankful for.” Frank created lyrics for all songs in the Gratitude suite and oversaw video and music production. He has written numerous songs in exploratory, harmonic and romantic genres that are available for licensing. Recently, he created “Stay Alive” – a 90-minute Suicide Prevention video podcast.   An “Emotional Conduit,” Rayko is a prolific songwriter and an energetic, sought- after vocalist. Rayko composed the melodies for Gratitude and sang, played on and produced all pieces as well. Her compositions often contain themes of social justice, female perspectives and cross-cultural challenge. Rayko is the vocalist in the house band of a popular Adult Swim show, and currently the voice of a new ride in Tokyo Disneyland.    Frank and Rayko can be found on Facebook at @gratitudevideo and Instagram at @gratitude_video. You can learn more about them and find their series on their website: https://www.gratitudevideo.com/.   Dr. Hammerstedt and her lifestyle coaching team can be found at www.wholisthealth.com and @wholisthealth on Facebook and Instagram as well as the Facebook group Curate Your Health. One of the reasons I didn’t express gratitude is because of the rules I assumed and adopted about the right and wrong way (perfectionism) to say thanks. I watched adults and peers deny thanks, defer it, deflect it and expect it. We will dig into these topics in this series but today we are talking about the rules that say there is a right time, a right way and by default the wrong way to express thanks.  A review would mean the world to me. We start a new series today on peace. God promises that despite the troubles we have in this life we can have a peace that surpasses understanding. But how do we grasp this peace? With the Apostle Paul and his letter to the Philippians as a guide we will learn how to put peace into practice. The first tactic for peace: gratitude. Don't miss this series.
