In this upcoming issue of The Comic Section Podcast, we start with exciting news: RoboCop is heading back to the small screen! Amazon is reviving the beloved sci-fi franchise with a new television series, executive-produced by James Wan. We also cover the bittersweet news for fans of Warrior: the show, initially canceled after three seasons on Max, had its hopes of a fourth season dashed despite streaming on Netflix. Joe Taslim, who played Li Young, shared heartfelt words about the show's impact and its unfortunate end. We then turn our attention to the DC Universe as Friday Night Lights star Kyle Chandler steps into the role of Green Lantern Hal Jordan in DC and HBO's Lanterns series. According to reports, the live-action series is actively casting and preparing for a January 2025 filming start in Atlanta. Additionally, Netflix has announced a collaboration with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson for a documentary series on Sean "Diddy" Combs, which will explore recent charges and allegations against the music mogul, including sex trafficking and racketeering. Also, Titanic and Avatar director James Cameron is facing backlash after it was announced that he has joined the board of an artificial intelligence start-up. In our "Coming Soon/Preview" segment, we spotlight trailers from Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts, Sinners, Ballerina, and The Last of Us Season Two teaser. Lastly, in our review segment, Jason gives his thoughts on Netflix's Kaos, Rigel reviews Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, and Shawn reviews Rebel Ridge and Twilight of the Gods. While many of DC's other heavy hitters were massively revamped in the wake of Crisis on Infinite Earths, Green Lantern Hal Jordan received a comparatively modest tune-up to his origin story. But Emerald Dawn's attempts to retrofit a Silver Age icon with personality flaws met with resistance from many diehard fans. We look at the legacy (or lack thereof) of the 1989 miniseries, what effect the behind-the-scenes shift in writers might have had on the story, and how it sometimes seems to anticipate the Marvel Cinematic Universe approach to superhero origins.
On the newest (and spookiest) episode of Comics and Chronic the guys discuss the Marvel Special Presentation Werewolf By Night from director Michael Giacchino. But first what kind of pimp shit has Jake been up to? Why do Cody and Jake refuse to move back to NY? Will Cody take over comedy in LA once an earthquake hits and floods everything? Do we prefer vampires or werewolves? Is An American Werwolf in Paris better than An American Werewolf in London? Would we fuck the alien from Species? What's the deal with the Bloodstone? Is this special a breath of fresh air for Marvel or the same formulaic bullshit? Did we like the use of black and white and practical effects? Did we think this special was scary? What is the director's resume? How does his composing compare to the combo of Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL? What's Cody's beef with the show? What do we think of the new characters Jack Russell, Elsa Bloodstone, and Man Thing? Should Werewolf by Night fight more like a werewolf? Should Marvel women fight differently? Could Elsa Bloodstone take Black Widow in a fight? Were the deaths cool? Why is David Bowie hunting monsters? Was the main villain stepmom the weakest part of the special? What did Anthony think of the movie Licorice Pizza? Other than Rocket Raccoon what other comic book roles would Bradley Cooper be good for? Could he be Lex Luthor or Green Lantern Hal Jordan in the DC universe? Could he play someone on the X-Men? Could anyone play Mr. Fantastic in a movie? Should Kevin Feige cast Cody as Mr. Fantastic Reed Richards in the new Fantastic Four MCU movie? Is Werewolf By Night stronger because of its runtime? Is this one hour of television better than most of Phase 4? Is this the TV equivalent of a comic book one-shot? Was it better than She Hulk? Has we ever read any Werewolf by Night comics? Were we expecting this special to link to Blade or Black Knight? Should Moon Knight have been a special presentation? Do we want to see more of these characters in future MCU projects? Has Phase 4 been lackluster? What projects from Marvel Phase 4 would we keep? Would Jake do better as Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight? Why is Michael Imperioli so depressed in all his pictures? How does this compare to the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie? Who is the true villain of MCU phase 4? Is toxic motherhood destroying the whole MCU? What's going on with the Blade movie and why was it delayed? Was Thor: Love and Thunder the worst thing about Phase 4 and the MCU in general? Are we done with Thor movies? Should Thor and Loki have their own show together? Should Taika Waititi be banned from making another Marvel movie? What was spookier - Werewolf by Night or Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? What are our Halloween plans? What costumes have we worn in the past? Is Mephisto still lurking behind the scenes? Check out our website: https://www.comicsandchronic.com/ New episodes every THURSDAY Follow us on social media! In brightest day, in blackest night, will evil escape these knights? Chamar and Andrew are back with yet another iconic DC story being put on the animation table with the 2011 film https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Lantern:_Emerald_Knights (Green Lantern: Emerald Knights). In this Sweet or Sour episode, we're going to hear from Green Lantern Hal Jordan on who he thinks are the greatest Green Lantern Corps members of all time. As always, we are here to ask the big questions: Does the story make sense? How does it compare to the comic? And most importantly, has the film remained sweet, or has it soured over time? In this week's episode, we welcome special guest and friend of the show, Jack Adrien. We cover Jack's entire secret origin: what got him into pop culture, who his favorite childhood heroes were, when he found Mint Condition, how we all became friends, Jack's favorite Star Trek episodes across all series, and more. If you enjoy this episode, please like, share and subscribe to the podcast. You can reach us at Secretoriginsmc@gmail.com and visit the Facebook group The Secret Origins of Mint Condition. We are also on Instagram @secretoriginsmc. :14 James introduces the show and guest Jack Adrien. We dive right into what got him into pop culture. We talk about the first comics he started with: The Legion of Superheroes, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan specifically), The Flash (Wally West) and his other major influence, Star Trek. 5:40 Chris asks Jack why he was such a fan of The Legion of the Super Heroes. Jack and Joe talk about why they both enjoyed The Legion; Jack tells the tale of how The Legion comic allowed him to connect with his lifelong friend Pete and how comics brings us together. 10:00 James asks Jack where he got comics growing up and what his first comic book store was. This launches us into the conversation as to how Jack came to Mint Condition. 13:13 We start the conversation about how Jack became a store regular and started hanging out with people at the store. This leads into how Jack and James met. 18:02 We turn to when Jack and Joe first met at the store. They recall some of their crossover working for Barnes and Noble. 20:14 We talk about how Chris and Jack met: Chris tried to teach Jack Pokémon! Chris talks about how he enjoyed the fact that Jack wanted to hang at the store with him. 23:40 We discuss how Jack used to jump in and help at the store; Joe and Jack recall working an out of the store birthday party (brought up in the first episode of the podcast). Also, they commiserate about how the register at Mint Condition was very tricky to work and perhaps belonged in a museum. 26:34 Our conversation leads to the Comic Book Bull Session we used to have at the store, with Jack being the center piece of a few of them. Joe and Jack share that while at times they had differences of opinion, it was always a learning experience. We also get into Jack's favorite bull session topics and ones he would like to revisit on future podcasts. Plus, Chris gives a quick plug for the DC book Farsector. 32:44 We call back to the start of the episode and Jack talks about Hawkman. 35:45 We ask Jack to give his recommendation for a comic book to a new reader. This leads us to talk about Jack's favorite comic book/ books of all time, which include: The first run of The Sandman, Who is Donna Troy? and Mr. Majestic at the End of Time. 43:38 We ask Jack to name his favorite pop culture hero now. Jack reveals that is Benjamin Sisko, which leads us to talk about Jack's favorite Star Trek episodes through all the series. 55:44 We ask if Jack is currently reading comics, and what type of pop culture stuff he is following currently. This somehow gets us talking about Josh Bernhard's pick of Star Trek the Motion Picture as his favorite Star Trek and the future debate surrounding this contentious pick. It also opens up a conversation about diversity in MCU projects, and how sometimes they don't go far enough with the social part of commentary, and comic books usually take bigger risks with the social commentary and message. 1:15:00 We end by asking Jack how he's been introducing his son to classic movies, which his son considers “old movies”

Come join us for this week’s episode with Mind Gap All-Star, Matty Robinson! Matty is also the star of the second episode of 2 East 8th’s Quarantine Files project. The first topic on tap is Bill Burr’s enigmatic first hosting experience on Saturday Night Live. The opening monologue drew plenty of attention and ire and the gang breaks down why the people complaining need to just calm down. After breaking down Burr’s monologue our dorks dive into a Weekend Update segment from the same episode where Kate Mckinnon had a very funny bit turn into a very poignant break of character. This of course turns into a recounting of some of the best breaks in the memories of the guest and hosts on SNL. Things change gears awkwardly after that to Facebook’s decision to finally start taking down Holocaust deniers on their platform. This somehow turns into a discussion of Doug starting an OnlyFans account that you really just have to listen to for yourself. One more expert segue and the topic is the launch of the Justin Bieber signature crocs. Finally, we make it to the throw-down which features The Homelander from The Boys against The Green Lantern (Hal Jordan not Hal Sparks). Welcome to the place where I get to let my geek flag fly and talk about all things geek. Basically a fuzzy guide to life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. This is where I look into the world of geekdom and some geek news, comics, The Simpsons, Star Wars, and whatever randomness finds its way onto the recording. This level of the podcast is another wayback episode meaning we head back in time to another great episodes of the cast. In this case it’s a gem from August January 5, 2017 marking 52 episodes and one year of recordings. Seems fitting since this episode is sort of a prelude to our 200th episode. This is Danny, Blue, and I talking our Top 10 heroes. I listed them at the bottom if you have to see our lists but it’s better to listen to our two hour shenanigans… trust me. Also... warning that this is over two hours of geeking out. I hope you enjoy it and thanks for giving me the extra time to deal with non-geeky life, the universe, and everything. So there you go.. two hours of top 10 and the first official episode that included both Daniels. Congrats on completing another wayback episode of the podcast. Feel free to contact me on Twitter and/or Instagram (@wookieeriot). You can also reach the show by e-mail, laughitupfuzzballpodcast@gmail.com., or by joining the Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1879505335626093). I'd love to hear from you. Tell your friends, geekery is always better with peers. Thank YOU for being a part of this hilarity! Hello and welcome to All Geeks aside the podcast where I take a look at the In Universe histories of Characters or objects as we had last time, of all things geek, be it from comics, manga , Science Fiction, Fantasy and everything in between. Remember that movie that was released a couple of years ago that had the fabulous Ryan Reynolds in that body hugging suit, no not the red one the green CGI one. Well that was a poor portrayal of the character that I have chosen this time. However in order for us to have a true understanding of this we must first look at 1. where they came from, and 2. what they were envisioned to do, 3. the true origins of their power. Not in that order. It is then and only then that we will truly be able to bring you the best version of this character. Before I continue and reveal the character that I am doing this week I want to thank the fan listener that reached out and requested that he wanted to learn all about Green Lantern, to which I asked which one. It was then decided that I cover Hal Jordan Green. So prepare your Earholes as we dive deep into the History of not only Hal jordan but also of the basics of the Green Lanterns as a Whole. So before I get to Hal I first want look at why there exists a Green lantern Corps in the First place. Who crested them and where does the power of the Green Lanterns come from. We will then look at how a green Lantern is chosen and how the powers are bestowed upon them. Plus if I have time I will look at the other kinds of Lanterns that are in the Universe. Happy Friday, Freaks, and welcome back to another episode of Just One of the Guys, the greenest podcast on the interwebs that has nothing at all to do with saving the environment. But oddly enough, the story in today's books DOES deal with saving the environment, in the most ridiculous way ever. This Friday, Green Arrow Conner Hawke and Green Lantern Hal Jordan team up to take down a radical eco-terrorist organization called the New Eden Corps. They've enlisted the aid of one of Hal's Air Force companions who just so happens to be willing to sell these nut jobs a nuclear bomb that they plan on detonating on Mount Rainier, causing the active volcano to erupt and destroy a major portion of the state of Washington. Yeah...it's comic book science at it's wonkiest. But is does allow for a great crossover between the Green Arrow and Green Latnern book and it does allow Conner and Hal to do their version of the Hard Traveling Heroes. And to wrap things up, we finish up the Green Lantern/Sentinel: Heart of Darkness storyline where we discover the final fate of Alan, Jenny, Todd, and Kyle as they try desperately to escape the nightmarish realm of the mystical Starheart. Plus, Paul Pelletier gets to draw Jenny in an outfit that almost rivals Arisia's "Hooker Jem" outfit (That's hawt...). You know you want to hear my analysis of it all, so grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and get to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks!
