I have a beautiful wife and two awesome kids who I love very much. That being said, they have shown absolutely no interest in listening to this podcast, week in and week out, and that makes me mad. Obviously, there's only one way to handle this. I will now proceed to write really mean things about all three of them right here in this episode description!. . . I mean, I would, but they would never see it anyway, so what's the point? My only real hope for revenge is for them to start their own podcast someday, so I can completely ignore it.Until then, Gene, Cog and the Dagster will continue to go unappreciated in the Moriarty household. You've played Lethal Company. You've played Content Warning. But you haven't yet played a game like R.E.P.O. This game is from a Swedish developer called Semiwork. It's an online, co-op horror game that supports up to 6 players. Find and retrieve objects to satisfy your creator. Use your physics hand to pick up things in the world and deliver them to the extraction zone. This game is a blast to play. With a variety of monsters, procedurally generated levels and hilarious talking robot characters, we're having so much fun playing with friends. We also review Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This is a standalone DLC ultimately for Infinite Wealth. It's a shorter experience with real-time combat and a new seafaring mechanic in ships. The game is good, but not quite as good as expected. Despite its flaws, its still fun to play and be a pirate for awhile in Hawaii. We also talk about Xbox and their new initiative to bring AI to games in the form of CoPilot for Gaming. This is meant to guide you in installing games, finding games to play and ultimately making you a better gamer. It sounds neat but is this too much like training wheels for gamers? Isn't part of the fun discovering how to play the game?Lastly, we have a special guest on the podcast again. This time we have Joseph Neville. He's a Fort Worth-based singer/songwriter who you may have seen playing shows around town. His most recent endeavor is Y2K Prom, a concert event where you get to go back in time to the year 2000, drop your phone at the door and enjoy a bit about what life was like 25 years ago with some amazing live music. His current project is a band Crying in the Car which is a mix of TLC and bands like Good Charlotte. In this conversation, we talking about how he got into music, his influences and a lot about the Switch and why it's a perfect console for casual gamers like himself. In this episode of Geek Freaks, Frank is joined by Kyle and Scott to dive into the latest announcements from New York Comic-Con 2024, including Marvel's big reveal of Rise of Emperor Doom and updates on DC's Creature Commandos. The episode also features a review of the highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 Remake, with Kyle sharing his in-depth thoughts on the game's pacing, atmosphere, and more. Plus, hear their thoughts on other exciting reveals, like the upcoming Wolfman trailer and the return of Daredevil: Born Again. Kyle praises Silent Hill 2 Remake for its faithful recreation but notes the pacing issues that come with an expanded open-world environment. Practical effects are making a strong comeback with the Wolfman reboot, emphasizing old-school horror. DC's small-screen successes may pave the way for more cinematic triumphs, with Creature Commandos and James Gunn leading the charge. Daredevil: Born Again is highly anticipated for its grounded storytelling, bringing back familiar faces like Vincent D'Onofrio and Jon Bernthal. Quotes: "I love how MASK was like G.I. Joe meets Transformers, with the added twist of powerful masks. It's such a classic that deserves a reboot!" – Kyle "The Silent Hill 2 Remake captured the same eerie atmosphere, but some pacing issues made it feel unnecessarily drawn out at times." – Kyle "James Gunn is polishing the next era of DC, and I think that's the right move after the rocky cinematic past." – Frank Call to Action: If you enjoyed this episode, don't forget to subscribe and leave a review! Expecting a movie to be an entertaining adaptation of a videogame and be scary seems like asking too much, but gosh darn it if the horror-game movies we talk about in this week's Top 5 with Steve Guntli (of CinemArcade and Puppet Masters/Castle Freaks) didn't try. Then we'll talk about the Silent HIll 2 remake, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO, Nintendo's timely new announcement, and your favorite mind-blowing twists in videogames. Question of the Week: What's your most irrational habit when it comes to playing games? Break song is The Sticky Sweethearts - Lost in the Corn Maze by Obscurest Vinyl. Vidjagame Apocalypse theme by Matthew Joseph Payne.
There has been a lot of talk about the cult classic "7/10 game" lately, and no game better exemplifies this than Deadly Premonition (Access Games, 2010). It's one of those games where the average might land on 7/10 because there will be a lot of 10's and a lot of 3's in the review score distribution. Memorable characters, poor graphics, lifelike town, terrible combat, fun mystery and rough performance combine to create a very interesting game, to say the least.
