THANKS TO ANDREW FOR MAKING THE INTRO SONG. (soundcloud.com / andoryukesuta)@andoryukesuta In October 1988, twelve-year-old Bill Denbrough crafts a paper sailboat for Georgie, his six-year-old brother. Georgie sails the boat along the rainy streets of small town Derry, Maine, only to have it fall down a storm drain. As he attempts to retrieve it, Georgie sees a clown in the drain, who introduces himself as "Pennywise the Dancing Clown". Pennywise entices Georgie to come closer, then bites his arm off and drags him into the sewer. The following summer in June 1989, Bill and his friends Richie Tozier, Eddie Kaspbrak, and Stan Uris run afoul of older bullies Henry Bowers, Belch Huggins, Patrick Hockstetter, and Victor Criss. Bill, still haunted by Georgie's disappearance, calculates that his brother's body may have washed up in a marshy wasteland called the Barrens. He recruits his friends to investigate, believing Georgie may still be alive. Ben Hanscom, one of Bill's new classmates, learns that unexplained tragedies and child disappearances have plagued the town for centuries. Targeted by Bowers' gang, Ben flees into the Barrens and meets Bill's group. They find the sneaker of a missing girl named Betty Ripsom, while Patrick is killed by Pennywise while searching the sewers for Ben. Beverly Marsh, a girl bullied over her rumored promiscuity, also joins the group; both Bill and Ben develop feelings for her. Later, the group befriends orphan Mike Hanlon after rescuing him from Bowers. Each member of the group has encountered terrifying manifestations of the same menacing clown who attacked Georgie: a headless undead boy (Ben), a sink that spews blood only children can see (Beverly), a diseased and rotting leper (Eddie), a disturbing painting coming alive (Stan), Mike's parents burning alive (Mike), and a frightening phantom of Georgie (Bill). Now calling themselves "The Losers Club", they realize they are all being stalked by the same entity, which they refer to as "It". They determine that It appears as their individual worst fears, awakening every 27 years to feed on the children of Derry before resuming hibernation, and moves about by using the sewer lines, which all lead to an old stone well hidden under an abandoned house on Neibolt Street. After Pennywise attacks them, the group ventures to the house to confront It, only to be separated and terrorized. As Pennywise gloats to Bill about Georgie, the Losers regroup and Beverly impales Pennywise through the head, forcing the clown to retreat. The group flees the house and begins to splinter, with only Bill and Beverly resolute in fighting It.

SUPD Presents : Ana Marie Cox "Getting Better" with guest A.J. Daulerio A.J. Daulerio is the creator of The Small Bow, one of my all-time-favorite newsletters, which he began publishing in 2018. It's about addiction and recovery and also about family stories, big memories, stubborn feelings, and experiencing grace. The fact that I, a not-sober person, find it so resonant with my experiences suggests some of the expansive excellence you'll find within. I consider The Small Bow a newsletter about being an accountable, self-aware adult, which is a topic area that is oddly underexplored in … the world? A.J.'s personal history is pretty well documented. He was an editor at the sports website Deadspin before becoming editor-in-chief of Gawker in 2012. That year, he published clips of a sex tape that featured Hulk Hogan, who ultimately sued Gawker for $100 million and won. The suit ended Gawker as a company and threw Daulerio's life into utter disarray. Ana Marie Cox is a political columnist for The New Republic and a culture critic whose writing has appeared in Texas Monthly, Sports Illustrated, the New York Times, and NBC.com. Through 2022, she wrote a “Sober Questioning” column at The Cut. Come get a balloon, bring your slingshot, let's float…it's here!!!Yes, finally we're off to Derry, to do battle with that goddamn clown. But as everyone knows, we can't fight Pennywise alone. That's why I'm taking my trusty, loyal, brave band of Losers with me. Nat Cassidy (Mary: An Awakening of Terror) and Ally Malinenko (This Appearing House) are joining me for a tour of the sewers, subtext and sociological horrors at the heart of King's IT. Halfway through we realised this would to be a two-parter, ‘cos there is just too much to say. The horrors will follow in Part Two, this time we focus mainly on the heart. We talk about the characters, the depictions of childhood… and yes we get into that scene (with possibly surprising opinions). I so hope you like this episode gang. O Captain! My Captain! Who knew Dead Poets Society (1989) would make us so emotional? These dang boys and their sweet friendship! We go through such a journey with the magnetic Mr. Keating but don't worry, we still find time to secretly meet up in a cave and talk about the official Losers Club candles, Gators and Goats, Degrassi, good boy hair, teacher cringe, and the Dead Pants Society. It's the big question in It Chapter 2: can the adult actors match the chemistry of the child stars from Chapter 1? Luke & Corrye trade thoughts on this, the final fight with Pennywise, Stephen King's cameo, the author's controversial endings, the suicide that rallies the Losers Club, and the one scene where Corrye believes the 1990 version of It actually nailed it better. PLUS: three cheers for the House of the Dragon season 1 finale!
It's one thing to live up to the hype, it's another thing to smash through it. 2017's It (chapter 1) does just that. Corrye should know: it's his 2nd favorite novel of all time, and he's well-versed in this story and all things Stephen King. Meanwhile, it's Luke's first watch - and first ANYTHING that has to do with the Pennywise tale. Highlights: the chemistry among the Losers Club; Derry as a character; Bill Skarsgard's portrayal; what they kept in the book; the controversial scene NOT in the movie...and much more. PLUS: the Creed III trailer, and more crazy sh** on House of the Dragon episode 9.

Hey! Today I'm reviewing The Losers Club by Andrew Clements. This is one of my favorite books written by him and it's a perfect school story. Alec is a reader. He's always been a reader. The funny thing is, while most teachers love it when people read, Alec's teachers send him to the principal's office because he reads too much. Alec starts a club in the Extended Day program for kids like him who just want to read. He calls it The Losers Club, because no one would want to join a club with a name like that, right? You'll be surprised and excited by this book. It makes you feel so many emotions! Email me at theseriesreview13@gmail.com. Enjoy! Send me a voice message at anchor.fm/riya-b13/message edit: I'm taking a break from qna because I would check it every day and that's so not good for my mental health, to be waiting for someone to reply. Thanks for understanding y'all
We feel like winners because we got to bother Cass Braido of Denver punk rockers The Losers Club for a badass BONUS EPISODE that definitely does not suck. We talk about stepdads, Bruce Vilanch, punk rock and more. Check out their single “She's From Chicago” and join the club.

HMSG Interview The Losers Club - "Thinner" For the Month of May we team up with some our favorite Podcasters to discuss more scary movies!!!! We start off with a couple of members of THE LOSERS CLUB, Randall Colburn & Justin Gerber to talk about a Stephen King film, of course! We dissect the complicated film THINNER (1996) featuring one of the most creative inciting incidents we have ever seen...you gotta listen to believe!Founded in 2017, The Losers' Club® is a weekly series that chronologically digs through the work of Stephen King with humor, irreverence, and a critical eye. Each episode, the Losers gather together to read between the iconic pages and share the latest in King's Dominion, whether it's the author's oft-controversial tweets, the boldest Hollywood headlines, or his endless forthcoming projects. The series also regularly features special guests. In the past, the Losers have spoken to Mike Flanagan, Thomas Jane, Tananarive Due, Mick Garris, Mary Lambert and many, many more. The show is part of the Bloody disgusting podcast network, was a Silver Bolo Award Winner on Shudder's The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs. and Stephen King says to check them out.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/HorrorMovieSurvivalGuide)
This week, The Plotaholics go old school with our original premise for the podcast: Bad FilmsThis week we REALLY dive into the sludge of the sewer. Thankfully we missed the Losers Club orgy, but we didn't come out completely unscathed. This week, we review the Bobcat Goldthwait film, Hot To Trot.In this film Goldthwait plays Fred. Fred's mom dies. His step dad is a dick. He inherits a talking horse voiced by John Candy. You can sort of imagine where it goes from there. Yeah. It's bad. Real bad. But...it's...it's just bad.Next week, we're doing something better. WE PROMISE!Support the show (https://plotaholics.com)
