    Today we spoke with Ben Darwin - Director Gain Line Analytics, Former Australia Pro Rugby Player and Coac. Ben had to retire from professional rugby prematurely due to a severe neck injury. Here's the story about what he's done since, and why he went this way...examining team cohesion and teamwork indices that contribute to consistent winning and on-field success. Ben propped for the Brumbies and the Wallabies, before embarking on analytics and forward coach positions with teams such as Western Force, Melbourne Rebels and Suntory in Japan. His company, Gain Line, founded in 2013, is changing the game around data analytics revealing that great teams are the product of the connections and linkages within. There is a wonderful dialogue around the structural layers that drive cohesion in teams, namely shared experiences, combinations and the overarching system - one for pro sport and business. As distinct from other operations and management consultancies in the industry, Gain Line places a strong focus on data analysis and quantitative research.     Today we spoke with Mike Brown - English professional rugby player, with 72 caps for England Mike has amassed 340 appearances for Harlequins (and 500 points), 12 for Newcastle and 72 caps for the England national rugby union team. Predominantly a full back, Mike has won three 6 Nations titles with England and two English Premiership titles with Harlequins. He won the 2014 RBS Six Nations player of the championship award...and is renowned for his work ethic, tenacity and ability to attack with ball in hand. Today we unpacked the full back position and why that was the position for Mike (he started as a 10, has the heart of a 6). We discussed leadership, culture and high performing teams, all areas of interest for Mike, which he is studying as a part of the Sports Directorship, at Manchester Metropolitan University. His research interests include the epidemiology of psychosis, mental health services, the history of psychiatry, and human rights in mental health. In 2012 Jack suffered a life-changing spinal cord injury leaving him with 15% muscle function. Jack has challenged the perceived limitations of his situation every day since, with the question being 'why not me?', rather than 'why me?'. In 2014 Jack gave the acclaimed TEDx Talk “Fearless Like A Child, Overcoming Adversity” - watch it. Jack has also received several international awards for his documentary Breaking Boundaries.     Today we spoke with Joy Neville - former Ireland women's rugby union international and current IRFU referee Joy is a former Ireland women's rugby union international and a current rugby union referee. As a player Neville represented Ireland at both the 2006 and 2010 Women's Rugby World Cups, captaining the first Ireland team to defeat France in that period. After retiring as a player she took up being a referee. She has taken charge of matches in the Women's Six Nations Championship, the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series and the Rugby World Cup, including the 2017 final. Neville has also achieved a number of firsts as a female referee in the men's game - a Pro14 match when she took charge of a 2017-18 fixture between Ulster and the Southern Kings - wait for the story from that game! This also saw Neville become the first woman to referee a top-level men's rugby union match in the UK. She is professionally contracted with the IRFU, has been a TMO, and is based in Limerick. Today we spoke about her journey to being a ref from a player, what makes an excellent referee - and what the prep and post-game processes look like. We heard about the challenges of being a referee, finding a balance between home and work with travel, and her varied officiating roles. Joe Barr has been racing bikes his whole life, for over 5 decades in fact - from two years of age on a pushbike to today; in 2022 from a racing perspective it will be 50 years...and he hasn't missed a season in 50 years! He has won over 500 races and amassed hundreds of medals and trophies in an impressive array of cycling disciplines. He is a Commonwealth Games bronze medalist and has represented his country at numerous World Championship events throughout the years. He has experience in road racing, time trials, cyclo-cross, and ultra-endurance. Joe currently holds endurance cycling records in Ireland such as Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, from north to south (2304 KM) set in 2021, Malin to Mizen Head and back (1242 KM) set in 2020, West Coast - East Coast - West Coast Ireland (776 KM), a World Record set in 2020 and the Race Around Ireland (2200 KM), an Irish record set in 2018. Sophie represented Team Ireland at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in the mixed 4x400m relay event, along with Cillín Greene, Phil Healy, and Chris O'Donnell; she helped Team Ireland make history, with a 51.58 second split as Ireland's relay team set a new National Record and a place in an Olympic final for the first time ever, finishing 8th. He has completed the straight-line vertical crossing of the Greenland ice cap, crossed the Arabian desert, and summited K2, known to be extremely challenging.
