On this weeks episode we have the force that is Jada Sezer with a conversation that is one of the most thought provoking we have ever had. Jada is multi-hyphenate: creator, disrupter and change-maker. She is a pioneer in the fashion industry: modelling for Topshop, Speedo, Tommy Hilfiger and Moët; a global campaign for L'Oreal alongside Dame Helen Mirren and a total of 3 international Adidas campaigns. She was the first size 16 model on ASOS, then graced the cover the Womens Health 2019 and Cosmopolitan magazine 2020.  Alongside her BA in Psychology, MA in Child Psychotherapy and Diploma's in Neuroplasticity and Cryptocurrency with Blockchain, Jada is also an ambassador for UN Women UK and angel investor for female founded startups. Her commitment to pushing the fashion industry forward and be more inclusive has contributed to her ‘influence' in a modern digital age.  In 2021, after a decade, Jada decided to leave the modelling industry, shift her focus towards technology and explore how she could further support others.  Dedicating her time to female economic empowerment and technological advancements in the wellness arena.  We can't wait to see what you think of this episode. Welcome back to The Process podcast. This week, I welcome a good friend of mine, Jada Sezer. Jada is a plus size model but began her working life studying and working in child psychotherapy. From there, she got into modelling and has been at the top of her game for many years, campaigning for more diversity in the fashion industry, amongst other things. She has since developed a respectful voice in empowering others to love and accept themselves; both physically and mentally. She shares advice and works hard to encourage others to develop more positivity around their appearances, as well as self acceptance, self-love and compassion. In this episode we take a look at what it takes to develop a healthier relationship with ourselves, and why it's the most important relationship and the one we should be understanding and nurturing the most. We talk about Jada's personal experiences as well as advice and suggestions for cultivating body positivity and, as a result, more confidence. We also talk about rediscovering your true self and staying true to your authenticity, as well as how to navigate or initiate career change, and move forward with a reduced sense of fear around failure. We talk about how to detach from the outcome of things, more, and how to live more freely, without always having to have everything always planned or figured out, and a clear view of the future. Finally, we talk about relationships, and what she's learnt over the years about communication and the importance of being both vulnerable in yourself, and compassionate and understanding of others. I love this episode so much, and hope you'll enjoy it and take something from it, too. SHOW NOTES: www.theprocess.com/life

In this episode we chat to the very joyful Jada Sezer. I first met Jada at the beginning of March 2020 – a month most of us remember pretty well for some reason. Before all of that kicked off, and long before we knew our worlds were going to change so radically, we met up at the New Balance pub in London, with an impressive bunch of women including Bryony Gordon, Deborah James, Anna Harding, Emma Campbell and Andrea McLean, all of us booked in to run either the London Marathon or the London Vitality 10,000 or both. Things were beginning to feel different in that first week in March, but not so different: we talked about running, we ate a delicious lunch, we shared food off each other's plates, we hugged. Jada talks to me about her history with running, and how that started when she met Bryony for the first time over a table of sports bras. She talks about (famously) running in her underwear for body positivity, and the emotions of running a marathon, no matter what you're wearing. She also talks about her life on Instagram, and how she deals with the sadly inevitable trolling that exists on social media. We talk too about what lockdown has taught her, about her coping mechanisms, and what she thinks lockdown has taught us all. In the first quarantine-recorded Daddy Issues episode Angharad speaks to the incredible Jada Sezer. Having lost her father at the tender age of 23 to bowl cancer, Jada threw herself into the risky world of modelling, turning away from the safer path of following her recently completed master's degree in becoming a child psychologist. Although her father somewhat disapproved of her decision, he still managed to muster the strength on his death-bed to tell her 'Well, if you're going to be a model, you're going to be the best model out there'. Those words, that permission and his instilled sense of duty for her to always 'give back', are what Jada believes got her to where she is today.

If there’s one thing Jada, a body-positive model and UN Women ambassador stands for, it’s empowerment – and that quality radiated from her like sunshine throughout this recording. By the time she arrived at my flat at 10am – looking characteristically gorgeous – she had already appeared on national news to promote body diversity in advertising. The day before, she’d qualified for a motorcycle licence. Despite this (and, I later learned, not even having eaten breakfast), she proved fiercely intelligent – showing off the fruits of her MA in Child Psychotherapy – inspiring and positive. ‘Don’t worry.  I don’t get hangry!’ she reassured me during the interview. She’s certainly a better woman than me. Think the most confident, popular girl at school – but, with it all, incredibly nice, patiently bearing with me when a memory card surrendered mid-way through our recording. During our conversation, we discussed the importance of valuing the time you spend out of a romantic relationship – a period she describes as ‘one of the best times for figuring out who I was, and who I am, and what I love’ – together with how to set healthy boundaries with a new partner. We also discussed the brilliance of Belgian psychotherapist Esther Perel, together with our shared wanderlust for Japan (where Jada made a life-changing solo trip!). I left this recording feeling hugely inspired by Jada’s strong, independent attitude. Project Body Love podcast from Women’s Health is a 30 day programme designed to help you improve your relationship with your body. With only 6% of women describing themselves as body confident, it is clear that image concerns and negative body image holds women back from living fuller lives. This November, Women’s Health have set out to change this, with evidence based research, and science backed exercises to help you unpick these negative narratives, hosted by body confidence advocate Jada Sezer. Each 3-5 minute episode will target different societal aspects as to why so many feel the way they do and encourage you to set the right intentions to learn to appreciate the human body.
