Being the strong one feels like a gift. Until it doesn't.In this episode of Shed & Shine, Gino and Rob dig into something that shows up constantly in driven, high-performing people: the identity of the savior. The one who carries it all, fixes the problems, cuts the check, and ends the day feeling like they held the world together. It looks like strength. It can also be ego... and it burns you out.Gino gets honest about the decades spent being the hero for clients, friends, and family, and what it actually cost him. The shift wasn't about caring less. It was about realizing that solving someone's problem isn't the same as helping them. Sometimes it's the opposite. They also get into the fear that hides underneath all that strength, why driven people rarely notice their own fatigue until it's too late, and what it looks like to still be there for people without carrying what isn't yours to carry. You can be the strong one and have peace. That's the whole point. Pastor Michael Todd reveals something most high achievers refuse to admit: the drive fueling their rise is often rooted in a wound they have never faced. He shares the moment he realized his obsession with greatness traced back to a 12-year-old boy sitting on a maroon chair, told he wasn't good enough to play drums in the big church, and how that single unprocessed moment shaped decades of his life. That pattern lives in so many of us: we build careers, relationships, and whole identities on top of old damage without ever treating the root. Michael breaks down why people struggle to love and be loved, how unhealed trauma quietly transfers to the people closest to you, and what it actually means to bring your full self to a relationship instead of a defended version. Whether you're healing inside a committed relationship or doing the work alone, this conversation gives you language and tools to start going to the root. So what you build from here can actually last. Michael's books: Damaged but Not Destroyed Crazy Faith Relationship Goals Transformation Church In this episode you will: Discover why your relationships reflect the level of love you have for yourself and how to raise that floor Learn how to identify the root wound beneath your most self-destructive patterns before it costs you everything you've built Understand how to heal inside a committed relationship rather than waiting until you feel ready on your own Recognize the moment your drive for success stops serving you and starts threatening your legacy Gain a framework for choosing the right partner by getting clear on purpose before chasing chemistry For more information go to https://lewishowes.com/1919 For more Greatness text PODCAST to +1 (614) 350-3960 Follow The Daily Motivation for essential highlights from The School of Greatness More SOG episodes we think you'll love: Lewis Howes Solo [Start Taking Care of Yourself] Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts Andrew Huberman Get more from Lewis! Our Spring Re-Release series is in full swing! Next up, we're revisiting our conversation with Hero Karen about MFR. Also, you can connect with Chandler and sign up for the official Healing Heroes monthly newsletter by clicking the links at the bottom of the show notes. We'll be back with fresh conversations in July!------Myofascial Release (MFR) is a therapeutic technique designed to alleviate pain and tension by targeting the fascia, a connective tissue that surrounds muscles and organs in the body. This holistic approach addresses not only physical ailments but also emotional and mental trauma, providing comprehensive healing. MFR involves gentle, sustained pressure and stretching to release fascial restrictions, improve mobility, and promote overall well-being. By focusing on the fascia, MFR helps to restore balance and function to the body, facilitating the release of past traumas and supporting a pain-free existence. In this episode, Hero Karen Remele discusses MFR and its impact on our ability to heal emotional and physical wounds. Karen's journey began as a modern jazz dancer and instructor until a horrific motorcycle accident changed the course of her life. Have you ever thought that the gut issues you're facing right now might actually trace back to unresolved past trauma or dysregulated emotions?Gut health is fascinating—there's so much new research surfacing. And in this episode, I learned more than ever about how a dysregulated nervous system, often rooted in early trauma or chronic stress, can set the stage for major gut disruption. We often call it dysbiosis and try to “fix” it with diet or supplements—but when we only approach it from a biological angle, and ignore the psychological and emotional roots, the healing remains incomplete.I'm joined by Martha Carlin, founder of The BioCollective, who sh ares the deeply moving story of her husband's Parkinson's diagnosis at just 44 years old—and how their search for answers uncovered the profound connection between trauma, the nervous system, and the microbiome.Together, we unpack how emotional stress, toxic exposures, and processed foods silently shift the body's internal balance, sometimes decades before symptoms show up. Martha also introduces two groundbreaking probiotic innovations she helped develop—“microbial teams” designed not just to add bacteria, but to restore the body's internal pharmacy and repair gut-brain communication. This is a conversation that's both scientific and profoundly human—reminding us that true healing happens when we address not only the gut, but also the mind and heart.Listen now on Make Peace With Food to discover how healing your gut could be the missing key to regulating your nervous system—and reclaiming your vitality.Topics Covered: How gut imbalance affects nervous system regulationThe link between unresolved trauma and microbiome dysfunctionHow toxic load and processed food disrupt gut healthThe surprising connection between Parkinson's, stress, and sugar cravingsThe role of bio-individuality in choosing the right diet for gut healthThe creation of microbial team-based probioticsHow belief, mindset, and emotional healing change physical outcomesWant to experience the probiotic blends transforming the way we understand gut and brain health? I've given focus to how we perceive our stories. We've also looked at toxic positivity and the damage of just trying to paint a pretty picture. We all encounter circumstances and events in our lives that challenge us. From massive traumas and tragedies to just disheartening disappointments. They all matter in regards to how we go forward in life. Following is a conversation that does not culminate with a formula. There is not contrite quote to sum it up. My guest is Karena Kilcoyne, who is a former trial lawyer who specialized in criminal defense, including complex white-collar and civil litigation in federal and state courts. Later in her practice, she worked as in-house counsel for a publicly traded worldwide manufacturing company. She was a success. But Karena started life as a kid. A kid who saw her dad taken to prison, and her mom succumb to mental illness. It's as hard of a story as they come. And it took its toll on her and drove her to succeed in the world and keep dying inside. Until, she gained a new vision of possibility. No fairy godmother or self-help epiphany, just a real, raw story, that I feel we can all relate to, and find hope and equipping with. She wrote a book about it titled, Rise Above The Story: Free Yourself from Past Trauma and Create the Life You Want. Attachment wounds stem from your primary relationship with parents when you were a child, and affect who you fall in love with, and how you behave in relationships. In this 4-video compilation, I share four of my most popular videos in which I answer letters from people struggling with attachment styles -- disorganized, avoidant, and anxious -- and the triggers this generates in their relationships. What does it take to truly heal the parts of yourself stuck in the past? In this episode, I sit down with bestselling author and personal development coach, Andrea Owen. She opens up about her experiences with divorce, trauma, and healing modalities that helped her move forward, like psychedelic therapy. She shares how revisiting the 17-year-old and 30-year-old versions of herself allowed her to release unresolved pain and create a deeper connection with her present self. We also talk about somatic healing, how to recognize when it's time to leave a relationship, and why friendship breakups can hurt just as much as romantic ones.
