As a grassroots football club chairman, we talk about the absence of decent football games on Evercade, Sensible Soccer aside, and what he'd like to see brought to the platform. Blunners is also a big Nintendo fan and talks about his collection, including his museum piece Virtual Boy, which he claims was ahead of its time.

Als einen von drei Lieblingen hatten wir diesen kontroversen Klassiker schon mal dabei. Action Shooter? Echtzeitstrategie? Die einen sagen so – die anderen so. Aber was sagen eigentlich die Macher von Sensible Software dazu?
Now that Sociable Soccer 24 was finally released on PC end of 2023, we welcome back famous and pioneering designer Jon Hare to talk about what had happened between our first interview with him (Podcast Episode #25 in August 2016!) and what the hurdlers have been for him and his time to finally be able to release another kick-ball arcade soccer game! The interview parts starts at minute 22:13
Welcome to Outrage, Outrage, Outrage! A 5-part documentary podcast that looks into controversies in different aspects of our media. In the inaugural episode of the podcast we take a look at a little game that told us war has never been so much fun... and ruffled a few feathers along the way. CANNON FODDER. So listen in as your podcasting host chats to game producer Jon Hare and magazine editor Stuart Campbell, who tell us about the furor surrounding the game and its marketing. The game itself is a simple shooter, tasking you with controlling a small platoon across a map in order to wipe out the enemy. It’s retro gaming heaven. But it was this promotional image which caused upset when the game was released for the Commodore Amiga in 1993. The British Legion took umbrage with the use of the poppy, and tabloid The Daily Star spotted a juicy story, and poor old Jon came under fire. But if that wasn’t enough, The Star went after Amiga Power, too, due to their having the poppy (the Cannon Fodder version anyway) on the cover of the December 1993 issue. This is not the original cover, but rather the hastily altered version that publishers cobbled together to dodge the ire of the British Legion. And before we even get to all that, we take a little stroll through the annals of controversial video games past, such as Mortal Combat and Night Trap. These two games so worried people at the time of their release that congress took up the issue, ultimately resulting in the establishment of the video games ratings system. The guests Jon Hare is a legendary computer game producer, known for his time with Sensible Software, and particularly flagship games like Sensible Soccer and Cannon Fodder - now retro gaming classics - among many more. These days Jon is still making killer games, and you can find the Sensible Soccer revival, Sociable Soccer, here… and here… Stuart Campbell is a games designer and former journalist, who was the editor of Amiga Power at the time of Cannon Fodder’s release. He then went on to join Jon is Sensible Software, working on Cannon Fodder 2 among other titles. Stuart now writes on his political blog Wings over Scotland https://wingsoverscotland.com/ And on video games, media, politics, snacks and other things here http://wosland.podgamer.com/ OUTRAGE! OUTRAGE! OUTRAGE! In the beginning there was an explosion, that filled an impossible void. And then there were planets that defined something from the nothingness. Then came life… first minute, then large and cumbersome, and then… man. And man had to learn to survive, to make fire, to find meaning in life. And once all that was sorted out, man learned to get annoyed about stuff. So this is a podcast about some controversies… not the big stuff… not war or politics or corporate fraud or any of that… controversies you may not have even know happened, or how weird they were. So join Andy Smith on a five-part miniseries delving into four little controversies in four different aspects of our media.
This week I talk Football Manager Touch 2018 on the Nintendo Switch and more on the PSVR, then we have a little listen to an old chat we had with Sensible Software legend Jon Hare.

The gang is back! Today we have a Fallout 4 special. We try to be as entertaining, yet special free as possible whilst discussing the game. Prior to fallout starting - 33mins in- We have a look at Metal Gear Solid 5 - Phantom limb/pain. In which is transpires that the hosts probably don't know a lot about the game series! Gary also gives us his thoughts on the New Tomb Raider and we get a talk on Jon Hare's kickstarter, which will hopefully see a return to the football genre for the legendary creator of Sensible World of Soccer...We also get a brief update on @moneyball_mase SWOS 96/97 Swansea career, not that anyone asked for it. Get in touch with us @invertypodcast Thanks for listening!
Welcome to episode 14 of the video gaming podcast that discusses both retro and modern gaming. We are very proud to now be associated with RetroCollect and look forward to providing some great content and feature some great guests on the show. In this latest episode Paul interviews Jon Hare creator of Sensible Soccer to discuss Jon's new Kickstarter Sociable Soccer as well as some of Jon's earlier work. As well as this Paul, Phil and Chris look back on and discuss some of their own memories from playing some of Sensible Software's biggest games, Cannon Fodder, SWOS and more. We hope you enjoy the show and if possible please leave us an Itunes review. To back the Kickstarter for Sociable Soccer and keep on top of updates including the proposed game options screen as mentioned in the interview the link is here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/towerstudios/sociable-soccer?ref=nav_search Links for us are:www.maximumpowerup.comwww.youtube.com/channel/UCrvUX61wemDeRZXOyFDScawwww.facebook.com/MaximumPowerUp?ref=hl@MaximumPowerUp Also find us on: www.retrocollect.com
16, ponieważ poprzedniego dnia zaznawali rozkoszy m.in. polskiej orzechówki. (more…)
OK, so the one week break turned into a two week break, but you can trust that One Life Left will never let you down again. Except for Marioke in July which we've had to cancel. And we'll be going on our summer holidays before too long. It's also pretty hot. Now, Team OLL are used to being hot, but this is an altogether different kind of hot. It's the type of hot that makes you have a can of Malibu and pineapple at the cricket and tricks you into thinking that your leggings will dry in time to go out. It's also the kind of hot where you reckon that hot and heat are words that are interchangeable. This week's show is rather cultured as our Super-Special Guests were Darren Wall from Read Only Memory and Alex Wiltshire from The Streets. They were in to promote ROM's first self-funded book Britsoft: An Oral History, which involved speaking to the major players in the British coding scene such as Jon Hare, Mel Croucher and Peter Moulinex. We also found out how you get Nintendo to give you two million dollars, tried to work out who is this generation's Jeff Minter and Ste thought about Jez San. GameUnder made a welcome return (along with a new microphone) and Sega Badawi told us about the latest local news (from two weeks ago). And we also promoted a certain special someone's new book about computer games, we really can't recommend it highly enough and we're certain that you'll enjoy their work so much. They really deserve every success with it. Cheerio! Join me as I chat to Jon Hare about SWOS, Cannon Fodder and his Desert Island Games.
We're fairly Deep at Team One Life Left. Sometimes others when we've been Around The World tell us to Slow It Down, but we tell them It's Alright and we'll Stay Another Day.Ahem. That might be an annoying intro, but we'll leave it up to you if it's as annoying as the Official Valve Theme popping up into this week's episode on a regular basis. Luckily our Super-Special Guest Darren Wall from Read -Only Memory manages to avoid the music and provides Ann with an EXCLUSIVE extract to read from his book 'Sensible Software 1986-1999'. Unfortunately the extract is about Simon but you can't win them all.We hear about how ex-contributor Jon Hare got involved in an incident near some stairs. If we were a tabloid newspaper we would call this event 'Stair gate', but if there was a stair gate on the stairs then the incident wouldn't have occurred and we'd have got more confused than we already were. Or are. We're a bit confused. You'll also find out what happened at the Eurogamer Party, what will be happening at the GMAs and what will be happening at GMA Defiance. But more importantly we'll answer the question: Is Simon aggressive due to video games? And you'll also get to hear OLL Local News, Dr Avatar and Science Officer (http://www.science-officer.blogspot.co.uk). All you have to do is listen. And send us some dares for the GMAs/GMA Defiance. And make sure you attend our One Death Left event at GameCity. And send us a letter for our 200th Episode Spectacular.Cheerio!Team OLL xLinks:https://twitter.com/East17officialhttp://readonlymemory.vg/https://twitter.com/romalertshttp://www.science-officer.blogspot.co.ukTracklist:1.
