CONTENT WARNING - This show includes a sports massage. Not, like, as a free gift for you, though something could be arranged, maybe. Let's not completely rule that out right this minute. Anyway, no, it's a descriptive thing. One of our intrepid hosts finds himself needing of some physio so gets a sports massage. From two ladies. Both called Sophie. Look, if that sounds far fetched then don't blame me, I'm just giving you a heads up. The word "buttocks" is used. If that's the kind of thing that offends then, I dunno, start the show 10 minutes in. That's a rough guess as once this gets uploaded and ads are thrown in the mix my timings go straight out the window but 10 minutes should be safe... Beyond that, welcome to the latest episode of One Life Left! This week there's still no Super Special Keef but we have a jam packed show that includes potential Nintendo Game-Key Card shenanigans, the Post Trauma of releasing a game in the shadow of Oblivion, a footy game doing well (and it isn't PES, FIFA, EA, SWOS, Kick Off nor even Emlyn Hughes International Soccer!), Simon has a "hack" for getting cheaper Switch 2 upgrades and we ponder over an Outrun movie. We also have Ste reporting back on his recent trips to Switzerland and Reboot in Croatia, including all the gossip and The Art of Video Game Design covers delayed gratification! For some reason our mailbag is bare. Barren. Bereft of letters/emails/offers of cash. Only YOU can change this, dear listeners. Our lives and/or sanity may depend on your correspondence so PLEASE write to us at team@onelifeleft.com or join our Discord, chat amongst other OLL dignitaries and leave a letter for us on there. Don't expect stunningly well crafted notes like last week, dear listeners. I think I burnt myself out a bit, there. This week you'll mostly get a list. Enter at your own peril. This week: No SSG! Simon is recovering from showing off his dart skills in Barcelona Ste made yet more games Star Wars: Hunters is being switched off (and it's not even been out a year...) There was a Phil Harrison jest at GDC An old game that was awful is being remade for reasons Undertale is selling well again Lego is doing a Pokémon (or vice versa) The boys have no FOMO over missing GDC (and has it had it's day...?) Groundshatter Maraoke report The Art of Video Game Design covers loot boxes Did you know the available episodes of OLL online go aaaaaaaaallll the way back to 2007 (10/10/07 to be exact - spooky) so you can go back in time with us and see how the world has changed. It was, indeed, a different time... Which games conferences are you looking forward to? Have you played Undertale? Are you passionate about Star Wars: Hunters?? Hello and welcome once again, dear listeners, to another episode of One Life Left. WE HAVE A SUPER SPECIAL GUEST!!! Join us as OLL hurtles towards it's 19th year, dearest listener, and for Simon's NYE tale of woe - a Kafkaesque Meta magnum opus if ever there was one! (Listeners on our Discord have already had a brief snippet but hear him tell the full story here without him using any F, S, B or C bombs!) Meanwhile we also have a crazy number of Steam games in 2024, Atari teasing a new handheld, Rockstar have bins and Notch teasing Minecraft fans. There's also a date for the next Maraoke (Saturday 8th February, might have a link next week...) and Block Words hits iOS! And I've been saying "BLOCKWORDS" all this time, what a fool! Thought you'd heard the last from us in 2024, did ya?! Well, you were wrong! Santa's put you on the nice list so here's a bonus episode of OLL just for YOU. This episode was originally broadcast on September 24th this year on the Yogscast Twitch channel as part of Pickaxe Week and has a Super Special Guest in the form of Ozan from Perfectly Paranormal showing off their latest game: The Holy Gosh Darn. Amongst other things he also reveals some cheat codes for the game "exclusively" for OLL! It's the sort of thing you'd usually have to write in to GamesMaster for!! Caveat: This episode was fully intended to be SEEN and, as such, there's probably a fair number of visual puns and general shenanigans that don't work as well in an audio podcast... Sorry! If you want to watch the full glorious technicolour video version then it's on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOPjt6j3sGE Why not escape from the family and bad TV over the holidays and write us a letter for one of our future episodes?!

WARNING: This show contains a brief mention of private body parts that Ste probably still hasn't heard! Shocking! It's OK, though, coz it's related to something glow-in-the-dark that was bought in Blackpool! Oo-er! ANYWAY! SSG klaxon ahoy! This week we are joined by Paul Monaghan who recently interviewed Simon as part of his amazing work collecting games magazine journos and telling their stories whilst not sharing any gossip! From Googling how to spell his name correctly I also suspect he's from the same part of the world as I am so that makes him even more of a top chap, obviously! Meanwhile, we also have Nintendo inventing music, Charlesbot pretending he needs more practice at reading the news and Nvidia being bigger than anything! Ste and Simon also go on a world tour to hunt down dodgy/knock-off/pirated videogames for you, dear listener! (Does that make the holidays OLL expenses...?) If you're reading this nonsense and it's not yet Friday 8th November, we have a FREE Maraoke event at Loading in Stoke Newington. On Friday 8th November. Get your tickets HERE!
This week we learn that things are going to be "OK" whilst, also, that there is always fear. It's an important life lesson that we probably don't make enough song and dance about. Also, at the point of recording AND of the podcast release of this episode, IT may still be coming home. I mean, IT likely won't but we're in that Schrödinger's Football Championship zone where anything can happen. However, if you're reading these notes at any point after about 10pm on July 10th 2024 then all of this is irrelevant. Also, hi, how's the apocalypse? Anything like Fallout? Let us know at etc etc... Meanwhile, we also hear about a Holland Park Gallic rejection, Bioware let us cheat death, Nintendo promise Switch 2's for everyone and a man gets in trouble for fidgeting with his Master Sword in public. It's true. Note from The Undercaretaker - Ste mentions something about beds at the start of the reviews section this week which leads Simon on to talking about Minecraft. This might not make sense but it's related to the musical intros/beds not working on the live & radio broadcast of the show (thanks, Riverside.fm!) that I've fixed for the podcast edition. I didn't want to completely butcher what our intrepid duo were talking about, though. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! Ofcom's HQ is at Riverside House. Bovenaan blijven Man. Next week is the last episode before the Summer holidays so it'll be non-uniform and everyone can bring in a game or toy to play with. Meanwhile, do you think Major Nelson is joining OLL? Should Simon get a red light for his shed and what will the neighbours think?? Let us know by firing your letters to us at team@onelifeleft.com or join our Discord and pop a letter there. Link below! Welcome, dear listeners, new and experienced, to another episode of One Life Left! This week we learn the perils of recording during a work day as spam callers try to sabotage the show. Repeatedly! There's also Sony moaning about Activision secrets, E3 uncertainty, Super Mario causes Simon some problems and Ste had the flu! Meanwhile, in the Exclusive Podcast Intro, there's the latest OLL financial report! We missed our lunch hour for this!! We hope you're entertained... Tickets for the Maraoke event in Brighton on Tuesday 11th July are selling like a Nintendo console on launch day so be sure to grab your tickets before they run out. Link below! Ste is also running his own style of mini convention in Brighton earlier that day: F-Up Con (or maybe Eff-Up Con... I'm avoiding the obvious swear, here) which will likely take place on the beach in the afternoon. If you're interested in discussing your game dev related failures with other like-minded individuals then reach out to Ste somehow. Either email us or hunt him down on Twitter at @steishere Who walks their dog/s outside your house? What games do you play when you're ill?? What was contained within "The Missing Discord Letter"??? (two of us briefly saw it before it vanished so it did exist...) Drop us an email to let us know at team@onelifeleft.com or bob along to our Discord and drop a (non-disappearing) letter there. This episode, dear listeners, we find out the latest chapter in The Life Of Simon's Steam Deck - what you hear might shock you! Also, yes, I might've thrown the word "Zelda" into the title to see if it affects download numbers BUT we do a deep dive into the latest Zelda game and why it may or may not be for YOU. Or just what Simon and Ste think, anyway. Meanwhile, we discover Simon only has two hands, Ste can't be hurt anymore, Yuji Naka plays The Escapists for research purposes (maybe) and The Lord of the Rings must always have TM at the end (possibly) but Gollum is still bad. No, really. He's an evil character with no real redemptive arc. He just goes along with things and destroys the ring accidentally through his own desire to own it! What do you mean you didn't know that? The book is 68-9 years old and the last movie came out almost 20 years ago, it's not a spoiler anymore! Next you'll be saying you never knew Rosebud was a sled and the cake was a lie! Ah, who am I kidding - nobody reads this anyway! There's also more news, reviews and A letter. Please write to us. We miss your letters. Send them to us at team@onelifeleft.com or join our Discord and drop a letter to us on there as well as being able to chat with other, like-minded, OLL listeners. Link below! Jason & Rich took off to OLL '23 games convention which happened over the weekend of the 15th-16th April 2023 at the Norfolk Showground in East Anglia and this is our celebration of what has become one of our favourite shows of the year. Not only do we discuss our experiences at the show, not only did we take eight interviews from some of the guests at the show BUT we were also joined by the fabulous Rowan Fox-Noble who runs his business MPBUK who specallises in creating instruction manuals for Nintendo Switch games. Rowan was at OLL '23, selling his booklets and we did take an interview with him but unfortunately the recording did not come out well, so to make up for that we invited him on for another interview and hang out with us for the rest of the show! The other interviewee's you will hear include Dean Mortlock of Sega Powered & Debug magazines, Nostalgia Nerd, Adam Koralik, Marc Jowlett of Sega Mags, Jon Doyle of Lost in Cult, developer of Crisis Island Sam, Alistair Lowe and YouTuber John Riggs. We would like to thank everyone who was kind enough to take out some of there time to talk to us and also to the organisers of OLL '23 for all their hard work running the show - once again you all smashed it! Tonight NBA Play In Tournament Chicago Bulls at Toronto Raptors, 7:00 p.m. Oklahoma City Thunder at New Orleans Pelicans, 9:30 p.m. NFL – AP source: Lions trade Okudah to Falcons for 5th-round pick A person familiar with the deal says the Detroit Lions are trading cornerback Jeff Okudah to the Atlanta Falcons for a fifth-round draft pick. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced. Detroit drafted the former Ohio State star with the No. 3 overall pick in 2020 and injuries stunted his career. Hamstring and shoulder ailments limited him to nine games as a rookie and he had a season-ending Achilles tendon injury one game into his second season. Okudah stayed healthy and started in 15 games last season. NCAA – Big Ten – AP source: Big Ten taps ex-MLB exec Petitti as commissioner The Big Ten is hiring former MLB executive Tony Petitti to be its next commissioner. That’s according to a person with knowledge of the decision who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because a deal was still being finalized. An announcement is expected by the conference by the end of the week. Petitti replaces Kevin Warren, who is leaving to become president of the Chicago Bears. Petitti continues a trend of recent hires to lead the top conferences coming from outside college sports — like Warren, who came from the Minnesota Vikings in 2019. NCAAMBB – Michigan State forward Malik Hall returning for 5th season Michigan State forward Malik Hall has announced on social media he’s returning for a fifth season. Hall is the second Michigan State senior to return for a fifth year, making his announcement a day after standout guard Tyson Walker said he’s also taking advantage of the extra year granted to players during the COVID-19 pandemic. The return of the two starters provides experience to a Spartans roster that is primed to add two McDonald’s All-America selections in center Xavier Booker and guard Jeremy Fears Jr. The two are part of a highly rated recruiting class for the Spartans. WNBA – Brittney Griner working on memoir about Russian captivity Saying she is ready to share the “unfathomable” experience of being arrested and incarcerated in Russia, basketball star Brittney Griner is working on a memoir that is scheduled for spring 2024. Griner was arrested last year at the airport in Moscow on drug-related charges and detained for nearly 10 months, much of that time in prison. Her plight unfolded at the same time Russia invaded Ukraine and further heightened tensions between Russia and the U.S., ending only after she was freed in exchange for the notorious Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout. Griner’s memoir is currently untitled and will eventually be published in a young adult edition. Financial terms were not disclosed. In this episode of Bible by the Lake we'll be talking about the story of David and Goliath. Our narrators take us on an in-depth journey to see the battle between the mighty Goliath and the courageous David. We explore the importance of social emotional learning, and the impact it has on people. By connecting a significant bible story, like David and Goliath, to current events and struggles we are able to see the bigger picture. We hope you enjoy this OLL production! Escuchar audio

OLL OBOUT OVID! is back again, and HOW. This week's episode is special for two reasons. Reason number one: it's technically not OLL obout Ovid.tv, rather it's OLMOST oll obout Ovid.tv (or as Witney put it, Ovid odjacent). This is because of reason number two: THE Dave White(!!!), cohost of LINOLEUM KNIFE, film critic extraordinaire and one of the inspirations for this podcast network, joins B Peterson and Witney Seibold to discuss three films from one of his favorite filmmakers, Taiwanese director Tsai Ming-Liang!! The films discussed are the 1998 mid-apocalyptic musical-ish drama THE HOLE (which *is* available on Ovid.tv), the 2015 documentary AFTERNOON (formerly available through projectr.tv) which documents a conversation between Tsai and his muse Lee Kang-Sheng, and the 2003 ode to cinema itself GOODBYE, DRAGON INN (currently unavailable through streaming, but well worth the price of the Blu-ray). We hope you enjoy, and thank you for your time. Twitter: twitter.com/ScreensMargins Patreon: www.patreon.com/ScreensMargins
