Wealth Academy Podcast community 2020 wasn't the year we asked for and or wanted. Now more than ever we have navigated 2020 and come away with lessons learned to serve us well in 2021.During this episode, Paul encourages us to understand COVID-19 resulted in us pivoting in our personal and business life, and for us all to make an assessment of our year in total. Assess the period from January to June 2020 and then July-December 2020 and make notes of what worked, what didn't work, and what adjustments you made.A huge leadership void existed throughout 2020 as it pertained to the leadership response to the pandemic, but we all persisted, no matter what. Note that the things you learned about yourself throughout the year will assist you as we transition to a new year and new leadership in the U.S. and other countries as well. Hope is our superpower as we usher in a new year. Take all of the lessons you learn in 2020 and dust them off and get ready for what will be an exciting year. Happy New Year to you all and one of the best things that happened was the foundation and development of the Wealth Academy Podcast and the community that continues to grow day by day. Rate and review Wealth Academy Podcast on Apple Podcasts and please provide a 5-star rating, we appreciate your support.  Tune in & listen to this remarkable episode on Apple Podcasts & rate and review episode #54 http://apple.co/2WQfyueHost - Paul Lawrence VannE-mail - info@paulvannspeaks.comPhone: (800) 341-6719

Wherein we plunder suitcases full of mystery... Herald (Melbourne), 18 December 1893, p. 4, col. 5 Here's a sample of the headlines that would follow railway lost property sales – And why not read on – here and here Moreover, there was this –   and this – That last item, in The Catholic Press (Sydney) in 1898, noted: ‘That the Lost Property Office has many times been used for the purpose of hiding things in there can be no doubt. Butler hid Lee Weller’s sea chest and some of his belongings there.’ 'Butler' was Frank Butler, considered by some to have been Australia's first serial killer, with Lee Weller one of his victims. Read about Butler's crimes and the 'cloaking' of Weller's sea chest here and also here. The Melbourne Argus (27 July 1923, p. 7) asks a very good question – The headline (above) is a ball-tearer – but the text (at Trove Newspapers) is all but illegible. See if your eyes fare better than mine. (I'd love to know the story.) There were still umbrellas aplenty on offer at a Sydney lost property auction in 1940 – Could the chap in vest and shirtsleeves (below) be the legendary Sid Whittred, the Queensland Railways auctioneer who 'never failed to see the funny side of things'? (Brisbane Courier, 26 August 1932, p. 16) And finally, here's the link I promised – to ‘The Lost Property Office’, by William G. Fitzgerald, from The Strand magazine, vol X, July–December 1895. Featuring eye-popping photos taken inside the lost property depots of the major London railway stations and Scotland Yard, it's a real gem. You can find it here, digitised by the Internet Archive.

Leland Stolberg volunteered for military duty immediately after graduating high school, right after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was trained as a Radio Operator, and flew in that position on the C-46 aircraft on missions flying over the "Hump", resupply missions flown from Assam, India to China in support of American and Chinese forces. The mission was extremely hazardous because of enroute weather challenges and poor single-engine performance. Altogether almost 1700 American crewmembers were lost in this operation. Leland once had a very close call when his plane lost an engine. He went to the cargo area and dropped all of the 55-gallon fuel drums of cargo to lighten the plane enough for it to maintain altitude. From Wikipedia: The Hump was the name given by Allied pilots in the Second World War to the eastern end of the Himalayan Mountains over which they flew military transport aircraft from India to China to resupply the Chinese war effort of Chiang Kai-shek and the units of the United States Army Air Forces (AAF) based in China. Creating an airlift presented the AAF a considerable challenge in 1942: it had no units trained or equipped for moving cargo, and no airfields existed in the China Burma India Theater (CBI) for basing the large number of transports that would be needed. Flying over the Himalayas was extremely dangerous and made more difficult by a lack of reliable charts, an absence of radio navigation aids, and a dearth of information about the weather. The task was initially given to the AAF's Tenth Air Force, and then to its Air Transport Command(ATC). Because the AAF had no previous airlift experience as a basis for planning, it assigned commanders who had been key figures in founding the ATC in 1941–1942 to build and direct the operation, which included former civilians with extensive executive experience operating civil air carriers. Originally referred to as the "India–China Ferry", the successive organizations responsible for carrying out the airlift were the Assam–Burma–China Command. (April–July 1942) and the India-China Ferry Command (July–December 1942) of the Tenth Air Force; and the Air Transport Command's India-China Wing (December 1942 – June 1944) and India-China Division (July 1944 – November 1945). The operation began in April 1942, after the Japanese blocked the Burma Road, and continued daily to August 1945, when the effort began to scale down. It procured most of its officers, men, and equipment from the AAF, augmented by British, British-Indian Army, Commonwealth forces, Burmese labor gangs and an air transport section of the Chinese National Aviation Corporation(CNAC). Final operations were flown in November 1945 to return personnel from China. The India–China airlift delivered approximately 650,000 tons of materiel to China at great cost in men and aircraft during its 42-month history. For its efforts and sacrifices, the India–China Wing of the ATC was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation on 29 January 1944 at the personal direction of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the first such award made to a non-combat organization.

Between 1838 and 1841, an enterprising London teenager broke repeatedly into Buckingham Palace, sitting on the throne, eating from the kitchen, and posing a bewildering nuisance to Queen Victoria's courtiers, who couldn't seem to keep him out. In this week's episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll describe the exploits of Edward Jones -- and the severe measures that were finally taken to stop them. We'll also salute some confusing flags and puzzle over an extraterrestrial musician. Intro: Tourists who remove rocks from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park face a legendary curse. Periodicals of the 19th century featured at least two cats that got along on two legs. This episode finally, irrevocably breaks from its previous incarnation as a podcast! A seasonal/bi-annual show no more! No longer only coming out only when an issue of Wonder Woman ’77 corresponds with the episode number! This edition, we cover an entire story arc, encompassing the entire (very brief) run of Wonder Woman’s first female writer, Mindy Newell! That’s “Tropidor Heat” & “A World in Chaos!” & ” To Everything a Season…” from Wonder Woman #326-328 (July-December, 1985) plus the concluding 48-page story of the original volume, “Of Gods and Men,” written by Gerry Conway! Don Heck draws most of this swan song to the Pre-Crisis Amazing Amazon, with a little help from Pablo Marcos. We also read excerpts from magazine articles and letters columns contemporaneous to the end of this era, and look forward to the next, which signals the changes coming to this show in celebration of the 75th anniversary year!In the meantime, do check out Wonder Woman: Warrior for Peace: A podcast that explores the history of Wonder Woman on page and screen. It’s currently five episodes deep chronologically covering the Golden Age, Iron Age, New 52, and 1970s TV show!We don’t have a Magic Sphere, so if you want to communicate with us about the podcast…Tweet host Diabolu Frank directly, or commune with @rolledspine as a group.Email DiaboluIf the main Diana Prince as the New Wonder Woman blog isn’t your thing, try the umbrella Rolled Spine Podcasts.

TalkFEED — Terry submitted a cross training question and how it relates to training for the Comrades Marathon. Terry says “I am many months into recovering from a proximal hamstring tendinopathy, which has prevented running and spoiled my Comrades Marathon in 2014. I’ve been doing recommended gym exercises and about 60km per week cycling to and from the gym. Assuming I can soon slowly start running again, is this cross training likely to be adequate for hoping to ramp up enough monthly running by January as a substitute for the early months July – December in your Comrades Marathon training programme?” He also says he has 14 Comrades Marathon medals so he knows how tough it is to run and train for Comrades.
