It's a theme week here at AMBFAD, and we're doing grimy science fiction. Oy, Gary! Is that you? Join us this week as we rehydrate some prisoners for derelict spaceship looting zaniness with Void Bastards! A 2.5D space shooter with more mutated freaks than the typical bus stop in Yoker, we try to appease the voice from the Stanley Parable with some bureaucratic busywork in the form of gun shooting. All the while fending off space pirates, space whales, and assessing if that gas station sandwich you just spent your credits on is or is not going to give you a parasite to start talking with a Glaswegian accent, aye? The Finger Guns Podcast returns with Rossko, Kat, Miles, Josh and Yogdog tearing through the weeks news with reckless abandon, discussing the 'failure' - at least in Square-Enix's eyes - of Final Fantasy XVI and how it feel below their expectations sales-wise, we talk the rather surprising Red Dead Redemption announcement, the reveal of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor coming to PS4 and Xbox One and the possibility of a brand new LEGO Harry Potter title from TT Games. In Game of the Week Kat talks her disappointment in Baldur's Gate III, Miles has been checking out the lovely indie Thronefall, Josh has been enjoying the wonders of [REDACTED] and checking out some indie darlings such as Crawl, Nongunz, Slain Back from Hell and Void Bastards. Yogdog has been checking out the new season of Diablo IV and Rossko has fallen deeply in love with the Sea of Stars demo. And we recommend the rather glorious horror film Talk To Me, Kat talks Barbienheimer after she saw them both this week, Rossko talks his thoughts on Barbie, Miles talks reading a brand new Kojima book and Yogdog recommends some alcohol, cus why hell the not. This week, Kaylan and Adam go over the recent leaks for Grand Theft Auto VI and what that means for Rockstar, players, and the industry as a whole. They also talk about Cyberpunk's resurgence as the new anime release has jumpstarted the number of players again with the game, and they also go over the PSVR2 not being backwards compatible. Adam also has an Untimely Review of the roguelike, Void Bastards.

Penal denizens Ben and Tao lower their visors and enter the airlock, ready to race against time and depleting oxygen, evade security cameras, turrets and warbots, and massacre all manner of space monsters in the droll and aptly titled looter-shooter, Void Bastards. Issues discussed include Roguelike game lengths and replayability; procedural generation, randomness and its impact on decision making; comedy in games versus TV or film; and if Void Bastards would work as a tabletop board game. No story spoilers.Content Warning: PEGI 13. The yobbish space monsters are full on Sweary McSwearface, but your hosts are fairly restrained this ep. You’re welcome.Clarifications:The original music for Void Bastards was composed by Ryan Roth. The developers are Blue Manchu. It was originally released on May 28, 2019.Ben annoyingly conflates two separate (but very similar!) space comedies, each released in 2020. One is Armando Iannuci’s Avenue 5 starring Hugh Laurie: The other, whose audio is featured, is Space Force, a series created by Greg Daniels and Steve Carell for Netflix. They’re both a bit crap, so his point still stands.Audio extracts:The Terminator (1984)MC Devvo - ‘Have a game of coins, mate’: Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom MenaceHalf-LifeSlay the Spire OST by Clark AboudLovespeake - DNABorderlands 3 OST by Michael McCannAlan Partridge - Tannoy (Steve Coogan)The Mighty Boosh - IsolationSpace Force (2020)Dale's Supermarket SweepArrested Development - ‘Come on!’Terminator 2 theme by Brad FiedelHades OST - House of Hades theme by Darren KorbAnd, of course, from Pixel Vision’s back catalogue - E1 Disco Elysium: Substack:Sign up free to read our reviews and commentary at www.pixelvision.netTwitter: @pixelvizEmail: pixelvisionpodcast@gmail.com Get full access to Pixel Vision at www.pixelvision.net/subscribe

This week on Anime Pulse we got a double dose of teasing girls, swimming across the ocean, and working to be the very best that no one ever was. Up first Andrew is asking us to name out top Onii-chans, and Joseph has wrapped up his play through of Void Bastards. Then in the industry news we got topics like confirmation that the next season of Demon Slayer won't be cutting any corners, and the voice behind Jigen from Lupin the III is finally hanging up his hat. Lastly come the reviews with Joseph being tormented by his fetish in the form of a naturally tanned girl, and Andrew being sucked into losing bets with his very obvious love interest.

Are we allowed to say "bastards" on this show? It's probably okay if it's in the title, right? What do you get when you mix a science-fiction first-person shooter with a roguelike? Yes, you read that correctly. This title developed by Blue Manchu and published by Humble Bundle is a fusion of two genres that don't sound like they pair well together. That said, the one rule of this show is that we must complete an hour of gameplay before pronouncing judgment. Will this pairing be more like french fries and ice cream or more like chocolate and ketchup? Let's find out together! What do you think? Let us know! Decimos gracias, Jk_eye, Travol y RodoR

Josh and Bryan like roguelikes. They like Roguelites and Roguelike-likes, too.
