A Monkees Podcast, Jon Lamoreaux of The Hustle Podcast, Joe Royland of Sit & Spin with Joe, rejoin Eric Miller of Pods & Sods to honor the great Adam Schlesinger. Adam was as prolific and creative as they come - he worked in all aspects of music as a singer, a songwriter, a producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He worked in film, in television, and on stage - perhaps best known from his various bands Ivy, Fountains of Wayne, and the supergroup Tinted Windows.  He contributed unforgettable music for films That Thing You Do, among dozens others. He even wrote the sweetest imaginable songs for Sesame Street. Tragically, he was lost suddenly at the age of 52 on April 1st as a result of Coronavirus complications. Ughhhh.... if ever were a time to tell someone you love them, this is that time.   So please join us as we remember and celebrate the brilliance of Adam Schlesinger.

They came out strong with what many consider to be the greatest debut album ever. A series of multi-platinum albums and a slew of hits followed until they kinda broke up in the mid-to-late 80s. We're wishing you a Happy Halloween this week with our Type O Negative Discussion! Patreon DBG VIP and donor to the ROCKNPOD Expo Andy Connors joins us to break down the history of this legendary Brooklyn band. The roots of Type O Negative stretch back to the 1980's when Peter (Ratajczyk) Steele and Josh Silver perform in local metal band Fallout. This would lead to Roadrunner act Carnivore and then morph into Type O Negative with Steele, Silver, drummer Sal Abruscato, and Kenny Hickey. Type O Negative In this long form discussion, Andy shares with us the history of Type O Negative. From the debut album Slow, Deep, and Hard through 2007's Dead Again, they blazed a trail of dark, sludgy metal that had a sound all its own. Previously we chatted about movie soundtracks of the 1990s, so this week we’re switching to the small screen and hosting a roundtable discussion on television soundtracks of the 90s. The best and memorable, the one’s that surpassed the show and stand on their own, and the one’s that were HUGE at the time but maybe haven’t aged all that well. We talk about them all (or all that we can squeeze into an hour). To help us do so, we’re joined by two veterans of our program, Eric Grubbs and Joe Royland, to talk My So-Called Life, Friends, Melrose Place and much more. Yes, even Cop Rock. Songs in this Episode: Intro - I’ll Be There For You by The Rembrandts (from Friends) 9:53 - Teenage FBI by Guided By Voices (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) 25:36 - Good Intentions by Toad the Wet Sprocket (from Friends) 51:22 - Down in the Park by Foo Fighters (from The X-Files) Outro - Here and Now by Letters to Cleo (from Melrose Place) Request a 2017 Review / Subscribe at Patreon   Facebook / Twitter / Instagram   Zazzle Merch Store   http://www.digmeoutpodcast.com
