Queen, let’s close out this year by saying: I am DONE with distractions. Done with everything that’s not serving my divine purpose. And I’m ready to focus on abundance, not lack. ‘The Bible and Mental Health - Part One’ We live in a world in which a lot of people are living without hope, desperate in their situation and believing that there is no way out. In Northern Ireland alone, • 102 suicide deaths were recorded between January - June 2020 • 33 people died by suicide during the first week of September 2020 • Nisra estimates that the overall suicide figure for this year will be somewhere between 200 and 220. • Previous years 2019 – 197, 2018 – 307, 2017 – 305, 2016 – 298 • Men are 3 times more likely to die from suicide than women. In the Bible we can see that many of the characters also suffered anxiety, depression, fear, hurt (emotional), stress, betrayal and many other issues that caused them to suffer mentally Pastor Alan Stephens intends, over the next few weeks, to look at these characters and see if we can learn from them on how they dealt with their problems and issues. God bless, Glenmachan. #Glenmachan #mentalhealth #christianlife
Show #859 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Wednesday 5th August 2020. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. LEXUS UX 300E ORDER LAUNCH IN NORWAY "With the reservation start for the Lexus UX 300e in Norway, we now have a first idea of the prices of the first BEV series model of the Toyota subsidiary. Prices will start at the equivalent of around 38,000 euros." writes electrive: "The Lexus UX 300e will be available in Norway in three different versions (Comfort, Premium and Luxury), with the basic Comfort version having a list price of 410,120 kroner, which is equivalent to around 38,000 euros. The “Premium” version costs 449,800 kroner (41,900 euros), while Lexus has priced in the ‘Luxury’ version at 495,800 kroner (46,200 euros). In Norway, electric cars are exempt from VAT and the new car tax. The prices are therefore not transferable to other European markets. On the Norwegian website, Lexus states the range of the electric SUV as “at least” 300 kilometres according to WLTP, deliveries are to start in the fourth quarter of 2020." In Norway the Model 3 SR+ is 431,000kr for 409km. https://www.electrive.com/2020/08/04/lexus-ux-300e-order-launch-in-norway/ CADILLAC TO UNVEIL THE LYRIQ, ITS FIRST ALL-ELECTRIC MODEL "On Thursday night, General Motors' luxury Cadillac unit will unveil the Lyriq, a crossover that marks Cadillac's first foray into all-electric models. The Lyriq will also be GM's first electric vehicle that uses the automaker's new Ultium battery system." says AXIOS: " Edmunds analyst Jessica Caldwell, in comments circulated to reporters, says it will be a "challenging launch for Cadillac" — a brand she said has been trying for years to boost its image. "Although other aspirational luxury brands have already taken a pass at the [electric vehicle] space with electric SUV variants, no other automaker besides Tesla has tasted the joy of success in terms of sales and demand," she said. "If Cadillac does it right and can get consumers to view the Lyriq as competitive with Tesla and other European luxury brands, this could help give the brand a push in the right direction." https://www.axios.com/cadillac-lyriq-electric-vehicles-gm-9f5e4c4a-cdf8-42fd-ba48-10bcaa2e2231.html LG CHEM BECOMES NO. 1 EV BATTERY SUPPLIER IN H1 "LG Chem ...became the largest supplier of electric vehicle (EV) batteries in the first half of the year, data showed Monday. Based on the global usage of EV batteries, LG Chem’s market share stood at 24.6 percent in the January-June period, up from 10.4 percent from a year earlier, according to market tracker SNE Research." says Korea Biz Wire: "The data showed that 10.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of LG Chem’s EV batteries were used in the first half of this year, compared with 5.7 GWh from a year earlier. SNE Research attributed the hike to robust sales of the Tesla Model 3, the Renault Zoe EV and the Audi e-tron EV, which are all powered by LG Chem’s EV batteries. China’s CATL came in second in the first half of the year with a 23.5 percent market share, down slightly from 25.1 percent from a year earlier. Meanwhile, two other South Korean EV battery makers — Samsung SDI Co. and SK Innovation Co. — came in fourth and sixth place with a 6 percent market share and a 3.9 percent one, respectively." http://koreabizwire.com/lg-chem-becomes-no-1-ev-battery-supplier-in-h1/166278 BYD BRINGS ITS PREMIUM HAN EV TO EUROPE BYD has brought its highly-anticipated premium sedan, the Han EV, to a roadshow in Stuttgart, Germany. The Han EV will serve as a new window for European consumers to experience Chinese-made automobiles from a new perspective. The Han EV is the first mass-produced model equipped with BYD’s new Blade Battery, a groundbreaking technology that reflects the company’s research and development capabilities and its goal of redefining safety standards for the entire industry. The Blade Battery utilizes singular cells that are arranged together in an array and are then inserted into a battery pack, increasing space utilization by over 50 percent compared to conventional batteries. The Han’s long-range version has an NEDC-certified cruising range of 605 kilometers (376 miles). 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds. ALIBABA HIKES STAKE IN XPENG BEFORE EV MAKER'S IPO "Chinese electric-vehicle startup Xpeng Motors is raising more funds from Alibaba Group Holding and other investors ahead of its planned initial public offering in New York, according to people familiar with the matter." says Automotive News Europe: "Qatar Investment Authority also is one of the backers putting in another $300 million total in Xpeng, said the people, asking not to be identified because the matter is private. That expands Xpeng’s pre-IPO funding round announced last month to $800 million. The increased funding reflects investor demand, one of the people said." https://www.autonews.com/china/alibaba-hikes-stake-xpeng-ev-makers-ipo GERMANY SEES RECORD NUMBER OF REQUESTS FOR PURCHASE BONUS FOR ELECTRIC CARS IN JULY "A total of 19,993 requests for the German government's purchase premium for an electric car or plug-in hybrid were registered in July, more than in any other month since the introduction of a bonus in June 2016, the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy announced on Monday. A total of 69,606 requests for the purchase premium had been submitted since the beginning of the year, an increase of 78.6 percent compared with the previous year, according to ministry." reports China.org.cn: "The premium "is effective and pushes forward electric mobility in Germany," said Peter Altmaier, Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy. In order to lower by around 40 percent transport-related emissions from the 1990 levels by the year 2030, the government is seeking to have seven to ten million electric vehicles registered in the country by 2030. Germany's economic stimulus package to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 crisis also included a premium for electric vehicles. The government decided to double its share of the premium so that fully electric cars now would receive subsidies of up to 9,000 euros (10,053 U.S. dollars) until the end of 2021." http://www.china.org.cn/world/Off_the_Wire/2020-08/03/content_76342679.htm TESLA FACTORY CONSTRUCTION ADVANCES EXTREMELY QUICKLY "Seven months ago, a tree plantation covered Tesla’s premises in Brandenburg. Now the skeletons of several factory buildings are already visible. What is certain is that Tesla is not wasting time." writes Berlin Spectator.com: "Neither a global pandemic called Corona could stop or slow down the construction, nor the lack of a construction permit. The latter will not be given to Tesla for now. Until yesterday, a new version of the plans for the factory was accessible to everyone at several locations in Brandenburg and online. Now, objections can be handed in until September 3rd, 2020. Only once this process is completed, the Brandenburg authorities can finally issue a permit. By the time they do, the three factory buildings will have made more headway." And what if you want to go and have a look? "Security is tight around the premises. Several guards at the sandy road, which is the main access to the site, will approach anyone who sets his or her foot there for a millisecond. Even on the other side of the construction site, where hardly anyone goes, any visitor who does moves around, even outside the fenced area, will be approached by “two American guys who look like agents”, a person who met them told The Berlin Spectator." https://berlinspectator.com/2020/08/04/brandenburg-tesla-factory-construction-advances-lightning-fast-1/ RALEIGH LAUNCHES ECARGO BIKES "Raleigh’s E-Cargo range will support both individuals and companies by allowing items to be transported between locations with zero emissions. The collection will be available in the UK and Ireland from September. " says TensportXtra: "Congestion in urban areas can make deliveries slow and inefficient for businesses not to mention create vast amounts of avoidable emissions. Raleigh E-Cargo bikes are designed to carry up to 100kg in weight and have a range of up to 75km on one single charge, they are a viable solution to urban and rural delivery services as well as individuals that want to transport items. Lordstown plans to use the proceeds to fund production of its Endurance electric pick-up truck at the former GM plant, which is expected to begin in the second half of next year." https://news.bloomberglaw.com/mergers-and-antitrust/electric-truck-startup-lordstown-motors-to-merge-list-on-nasdaq VISION-S CONCEPT EV MAY HIT THE STREETS, SONY IN TOKYO FOR PUBLIC ROAD TESTING "Japanese electronics major Sony set the cat among the pigeons when it unveiled a prototype electric car at CES in January 2020. At the time, it said that the Vision-S electric vehicle was not intended for commercial use, but it turns out that the car might be spotted on the streets after all" says Economic Times: "Sony revealed in a YouTube video that the Vision-S “has arrived in Tokyo for advancing our sensing and audio technologies. The prototype vehicle is also currently under development for public road testing this fiscal year. The prototype EV, Sony said, was developed to showcase its technology to auto manufacturers, and was not an effort on its part to pivot towards EVs. The Vision-S has 33 sensors for autonomous driving and ancillary functions like recognizing people and items, both inside and outside the cabin." https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/magazines/panache/vision-s-concept-ev-may-hit-the-streets-sony-in-tokyo-for-public-road-testing/articleshow/77343145.cms You can listen to all 858 previous episodes of this this for free, where you get your podcasts from, plus the blog https://www.evnewsdaily.com/ – remember to subscribe, which means you don’t have to think about downloading the show each day, plus you get it first and free and automatically. Craig Elsten and Liddy Loree reveal each of their Top-5 lists for streaming TV shows in 2020 (January-June), and some honorable mentions.
Covid19 and the effects it has left in human resources management. Be it in the management of startups Be it in the management of the freelancers’ client portfolio. Be it in my business. These are three lessons (one mistake) I learn from the January-June 2020, in my 6-monthly strategy fine-tuning, together with an invite for […] The post Ep #103 Three Lessons From Six Terrible Months appeared first on EMI - Coaching and Consulting.
A podcast version of January-June 2019 half year financial report press conference from 18 July 2019.
Craig Elsten is joined by Liddy Loree from Bolt Brewing in La Mesa, CA, to discuss Craig's Top-5 TV Shows for the first half of 2019 (January-June). #1 on the list is Amazon's Fleabag! Craig and Liddy discuss the creative leaps taken by the show heading into its second and final season, the genius of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and whether or not Andrew Scott is really a Hot Priest. Enjoy a laugh-filled conversation about top TV so far in 2019, and why Fleabag is the best thing we've seen so far this year!
Today is the first day of July, the first day of Q3, and the official halfway point of the year. Since we only have six months left in 2019, if you've had time to reflect on the six months that have passed, you may be lamenting on how far you are from the goals you set in January. (Or you may have crushed your goals completely, to which I say, yay you!) But if you are nowhere near where you thought you'd be, consider this your pep talk - it's time to get back in the game. I'm here to let you know, all is not lost. Even if you were asleep from January - June, you can make up the difference with the months we have left. You simply need to revisit your goals, tweak your strategy, and decide what you're going to do differently. But first, realize you're not alone. According to U.S. News & World Report, the failure rate for New Year's resolutions is said to be about 80 percent, and most lose their resolve by mid-February. I for one am guilty of hopping off the consistency train. At the end of May, I looked at my annual goals and felt a little demoralized; I simply was not on track with many of the goals I'd set. But in true Amanda fashion, I had some surprise "sleeper" wins that helped me close out the month, the quarter, and the first half of the year in spectacular fashion. Here's what's been going on: One of my goals for the year? More international travel. But for whatever reason when I set the goal in January, I failed to book any tickets or plan any trips. Fast forward to May: a friend asked if I could join her in Italy on the heels of a big conference she was attending for work. I said yes, spent an epic week in Italy in June, and just like that, my travel and adventure goals are back on track for the year. Another goal? Double my podcast downloads in 2019. As June approached, I could see I wasn't on track to meet that goal. I had exceeded last year's numbers up to this point, but doubled them? Not quite. Then by chance I went looking for parenting podcasts to help me navigate a few issues with my kids as puberty is setting in, we're switching schools in the fall, and I need a more effective way to communicate with my soon to be teenaged son. I randomly met a parenting podcaster at a media event in mid-May. She's doing a challenge to record an episode every day this year, which inspired me to challenge myself to publish an ambitious 30 episodes in 30 days. While I set out to do the challenge because I was inspired by the parenting podcast, I inadvertently boosted my podcast downloads due to the sheer volume of new episodes. And just like that, we're back on track and back on schedule to reach the 2x goal for the year. Sidebar: I learned a lot about epic productivity, motivation, and building habits during that challenge and will share the lessons in a future missive, but for now, here are a few of my favorite episodes: PYG 108 - You have to sell it PYG 100 - What are you willing to create? PYG 99 - Muscle Memory PYG 97 - Making yourself at home on a new level PYG 92 - Build a brand library so people can find your ideas Another big goal? Land media exposure. June was an exceptional month for our PR clients in Maximum Exposure. After two months of crafting ideas and pitching, I was honestly getting a little worried that we hadn't had more media wins. So at the beginning of June, I decided to further examine our process to figure out what might have been missing. We focused more on breaking news, increased our time spent on research, and changed the order of the weekly program touch points. The result? Our changes worked like magic. In the month of June alone, our students were interviewed or featured by Fast Company, the Washington Post, the Washington Post Express, ABC Milwaukee, V100.7 FM in Milwaukee, ABC 7 DC and Let's Talk Live. While media exposure wasn't tied to a specific goal I set at the beginning of the year, it was tied to a goal I set when we opened our doors to the program in April. And it was a great example of how sometimes you may plan for a trickle of sustained success over time, but end up with a flood of it all at once - if you can hone in on the right new strategy. At the end of the day - by trickle or by flood - you can still reach your 2019 goals. It may not happen out of the gate, but when you're honest about what isn't working and you decide to win, success can come at you fast. If you're looking at July 1 with a side-eye because you are nowhere near where you thought you'd be by now, remember, you can change your results if you change your strategy. You can make big things happen fast. You can make up the difference in the months we have left. You simply need to revisit your goals, tweak your strategy, and decide what you're going to do differently. If your incremental strategy hasn't worked so far, maybe it's time to do something absurdly different so you can get absurdly different results. Even if you're not blown away by what you've accomplished in the months behind us, get excited. You can turn this year around! *** We have one more spot to join us next month in Maximum Exposure. This is a high touch group PR program designed to get you media exposure - interviews, segments and features to pontificate about what you know best. If you're ready for PR results, and want a PR team that won't be happy until your face is splashed all over tv screens and newspaper pages, apply here.

Today’s guest is president of the Intensive Dietary Management Program, which she founded with her partner Dr. Jason Fung, who I am sure you are all familiar with. She coaches clients all over the world, teaching them the principles that allowed her to lose 60 pounds herself and maintain that healthy lifestyle. It’s such an honor to have her on the show today, please welcome Megan Ramos! Video Version: https://youtu.be/c9W1EHdiaVc Megan's Website: https://idmprogram.com/ STARTER QUESTIONS: Tell us a little about your health journey? through all of my interviews, I have found a common theme that most people have a huge personal “Why” for what they do. How did IDM come to be? From what I understand, it started small and has just BLOWN up! You guys offer a great community, both on Facebook, and Live Q and As and different forums, as well as individualized coaching. Can you tell us more about everything that IDM offers? I know that personally, you tend to follow the Ketogenic diet for the most part, with a few cheats here and there. I don’t follow the Keto diet, but it seems like there are a lot of Intermittent Fasting fans out there who also eat Ketogenic. How do these two go hand in hand? People ask me all the time if you can be in Ketosis without eating Keto. A question that I like to ask every guest, is what is a day in the life of Megan like? Can you tell us what you eat from the time you wake up until you go to bed at night? What hours do you eat and fast, etc? Take yesterday for example. Today, I want to do something a little different. Our podcast started out talking about Intermittent Fasting, and it is really the backbone of the show, though we have guests that come on and talk about all kinds of things like Thyroids, Hormones, Gut Health, etc. But today I really want to get back to the basics of Intermittent Fasting and have you debunk 5 of the Most Common Intermittent Fasting Myths that we hear all the time. So I’m going to share the myths, and you will respond to them. Ready? MYTHS: Myth #1- 25:50 - Intermittent fasting will cause my metabolism to slow down because my body will think it’s starving. Myth #2- 28:20 - Intermittent fasting is bad for my blood sugar. If I don’t eat sugar every couple hours, I will see my blood sugar drop and I will pass out and feel week. Myth #3- 30:10 - When I am following Intermittent fasting, I can eat whatever I want and as much as I want, as long as it is in my eating window. Myth #4- 31:36 - It is not safe to workout while Intermittent fasting. I need to eat carbs and sugar before working out. Listener Questions: Q1 - 40:04 I was listening to a doctor on another podcast recently who mentioned that he does Intermittent Fasting for half of the year, every year, from January-June. He did not really give his reasoning why but said he had been doing this for many years. This was the first I heard of a regimen like this, and I am assuming since he was a Dr that there was some reason for it. Do you know of any benefits to intense Intermittent Fasting for a short portion of the year, and “normal” eating for the rest of the year? Joyce in Colorado Q2 - 43:00 I love your show but I feel like I’ve listened to different people, and different people recommend different supplements and I love all the different people, but I keep adding different supplements every time I listen to a new show. I’m up to 14 different ones and I think this is too much and out of control with too many supplements. How many is too many, and is there 1 that I should be taking for sure, and how can I dial this number down. Judy Calgary Q3 - 50:04 I have been doing the Keto diet for the past couple months, and since then I have joined several Facebook groups of people who are doing the same. I have noticed several comments when people are talking about a specific food item or recipe, where they will say “Such and such is low carb, but it’s not keto”, or some people will refer to their personal diets like low carb but not keto. Can you explain the difference in the low carb diet and the Keto Diet? -Tarryn in Bedford Q4 - 53:06 I have been consistent with Intermittent Fasting for 3 months now, and I can’t believe the results I am seeing! Not only in my weight loss, but with my mental clarity and energy. 6 days a week, I eat in a 6-hour window, typically from noon to 6 pm. The only exception to my eating window is my morning coffee. I have found some flavored Keurig cups that don’t appear to have any calories or sugar, but the ingredients say: “Coffee and other natural flavors”. I am not someone who likes to ask questions that I can easily find on Google, but I have literally spent hours trying to find an answer for this online, and haven’t come to any conclusions! It’s not just one Keurig cup brand either, I notice a trend in these “other natural flavors” with no explanation. Will these flavors break my fast, and hurt my weight loss, even if they appear to be calorie free? Jenna in Connecticut Q5 - 54:47 I recently started working out with a new trainer, who is insistent that I eat 4-5 small meals a day. I try to explain to him that this way of thinking is extremely old school, that our body doesn’t need to eat all day long, but the problem is that he is in shape and the expert, and I am someone with a lot of weight left to lose. From everything I’ve learned from this podcast and in your book, I truly believe I shouldn’t be feeding my body all day long, and that I need to give it time to rest and digest! Not only that, but I don’t have time to be prepping and shopping and eating that many meals each day. How should I explain this to him in a way that he will respect and accept? I want his help with my workouts but simply don’t agree with this way of thinking. Heather in Virginia Q6 - 58:08 If I want to do a longer fast, let’s say 5 full days. There’s no way I can do it without green juice, lemon in my water, or cream in my coffee. Are you ok with this? Corrections & Listener Mail CorrectionsFirst off, we got a note about The Dutch Inn, with the "Sleepy Bear" - he would greet you as you entered the hotel. Very neat little tip about that chain of hotels. Another listener wrote in about the Vistana resort and how they were the first timeshare you could get into. We got lots of great memories related to Hotel Plaza Boulevard. Eric Jacobson wrote in about an article from 1985, regarding the EPCOT Center Polls. We go through some of the information related to this vintage poll from EPCOT and it also led write to a letter from Dan. Listener Mail Dan wrote in, a former cast member, about how he was "The Person of the Century". Basically, Dan messed this all up for Disney and he would tell people all day to "Vote For Dan". This led to a mysterious closure of this area, which we are guessing was due to our listener Dan. Such a great story, thanks for sharing! Next up, we heard from Christopher. He recently visited Fort Wilderness and sent us a picture of the original River Country Restroom sign. Such a cool gem that is leftover back there. Elizabeth wrote in regarding the third floor of The Contemporary Resort and the compressed floor. We discuss what we know regarding this, but we'd love to hear from some others. Such an interesting topic.... Reese touched base about a guard on Tom Sawyer's Island. She wanted some more information about this fort guard, which How is happy to offer. We do a little bit of Disneyland history along with Skyway history in general. This episode takes you for a ride on the Skyway through our unique perspectives and memories. Most of us have ridden this one, so the picture we paint and the mechanical end of things we go into is quite detailed. Hope you enjoy!Swan BoatsThis is an interesting one, because none of us have ridden this one. Todd shares an interesting memory how his family used to love the Swan Boats and were super disappointed when it closed. How could have possibly ridden it, but we really don't know for sure. We go into the build history, mechanics, and of course what the ride consisted of. The Swan Boats have such a unique and almost lost history, there isn't much out there. When you look at the path of the boats though, it was a neat and relaxing attraction that I'm sure lots of our listeners would have enjoyed.

CorrectionsWayne in Alabama writes in about Walt Disney World / AAA Rest Area. We discuss this in a little more detail and also some billboards along the way. Wayne had an amazing techno tip from back in the day on how he recorded the WDW radio loop. This comment led us into a little bit of retro tech discussion. We also heard from some listeners regarding the touch screens from Communicore. Todd & How take us into how they worked and how they differ compared to current touchscreens.Listener Mail Wayne also reached out about a WDW Special, A Dream Come True. There is some great footage from Communicore in this special, so take a look. David was up next, bringing up two memories. One memory David brings up for discussion is the return hand stamp smell. Todd brings up an interesting hack to see your stamp.... Resort TV also comes up from the 1970s - We discuss early Resort TV and how people used to actually film the screen. This led to yet another retro tech discussion. John W. wrote in letting us know about a sad memory visiting WDW. He thought it was an indoor place that smelled of cheese. John asked about the radio station, which we mentioned earlier. Big thanks to Wayne for the audio on this!Thank you for all the emails, tweets and comments you have sent our way. Brian gets us started this month, taking us hotel by hotel. We learn quite a bit about this area that consists of seven hotels, not owned by The Walt Disney Company. One of the first items constructed ever on property was the Walt Disney World Preview Center. How actually visited this and gives us a little insight into what was here. Todd also gives some input on what was going on at this place. Each hotel had it's own theme and feel, which has been changed over the years. Brian gives us great detail on the infamous Michael Jackson suite and even where Bob Hope would stay. This area is almost a forgotten part of the WDW history and we really think you are going to enjoy everything Hotel Plaza Boulevard has to offer. There are so many random facts thrown out and you really get a feel of the 70s, 80s, and even 90s as we go into great detail of each property.RetroWDW MerchandiseBe sure to get your shirt, iPhone case, tote bag, pillow or coffee mug today: www.retrowdw.com/supportusSome of Our Latest DesignsEastern Winds Chinese Junk Polynesian Village Resort T-shirt DesignDick Nunis's Artificial Surf Generators (WDW Wave Machine) T-shirt DesignDreamflightKinetic MosaicThe Rock That BurnsNext Month Join us next month as we head to The Magic Kingdom! How also discusses an early Welcome Center up north, which also includes an initiative about "Disney Rest Areas". Getting a Haircut at the Alii Nui Barber Shop Anderson, who is 11, wrote in to thank us for the podcast and to discuss how he is learning tons! We love having the younger listeners and hope you stick with us throughout all the history. Next up, Nate wrote us about the Salon/Barbershop at The Contemporary Resort. As far as we know, Grady's whereabouts are unknown... Nicholas D. wrote in regarding the music from Retro Food. Todd shared with us, he used a two hour mix on YouTube, called Retro Lounge Music: Lovely 70s. It worked very well for that episode. Todd starts off by questioning JT on what Communicore actually means. We go through the things that Communicore would actually do: have a conversation with a computer, contribute to polls with your opinion, see what a space shuttle is like and check travel destinations, just to name a few.We discuss the original plans, a Wedway Peoplemover running along an outer edge and some other scrapped ideas. New technologies were sort of the push here, allowing companies both small and large to come and go with their latest and greatest. The open floor plan and easy to Compute-A-Coasternavigate area added to the feeling of the space you did not get with Innoventions. Each attraction and area is discussed in detail during this episode. We learn about creating a wire frame roller coaster, the DARYL featured EPCOT computer system, SMRT-1 and tons more. Be sure to check out some of our previous shows including the first part of this podcast: Retro WDW Podcast: Polynesian Dreams - Part I. Corrections & Listener Mail CorrectionsAfter some introductions, trip updates and welcomes, we get started with some corrections. How offers up a minor correction on his pronunciation of Future Corps and adds a few details to our discussion from last month. Listener Mail Paul wrote in about Backstage Magic at EPCOT Center. This was a show located in Communicore East, near the Energy Exchange. We take you back to this attraction that showcased all of the computers running EPCOT back in the day. This show ran until Innoventions showed up and sounds like one you didn't want to miss. The movie DARYL had a scene in this location as well, so check that out from 1985. Brent wrote in, who is the creative director of Super 78 and host of The Season Past Podcast. He wrote us as a fan, letting us know his crew is binge listening to the show. Check them out and thanks for listening Brent! Kurt Phillips sent us a great group of pics from the Polynesian - amazing folders, stationary ephemera and lots of other neat tidbits. We discuss some of the old services and options at the resorts. Check out our collection and send in your stuff! We also got a solid set of Contemporary ephemera from Mark Brieve. We had such a huge listener turnout for Part I - big thanks to everybody who downloaded and listened. This episode focuses on post construction, memories, resort services entertainment and more. How starts us off with a minor correction regarding the construction and the opening dates of each area, which is different than we all thought. The design of the resort is discussed along with the feel back then, when compared to the other resorts on property. Atmosphere plays a big part with this back in the 70s. Everything from the entrance walkway to the lobby are described in detail by How. The Vacation Wonderland restored film shows off how the original doors actually worked. Who doesn't remember that lobby smell? We also go into the sundries shop, barbershop and tons of other amazing features which are no longer present. How has pinpoint accuracy and even some on location scouting to locate these places. You really need to listen to this episode as you are walking around the Polynesian. The mental picture alone though is amazing and How does a great job taking you right back. The fire lighting ceremony was different back then too; learn all about how this has changed over the years. Finally, we get into the church services and how they changed over the years and how they actually worked, up until 2002.How has done a great job with this series. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have had making it and putting all this together for you. Film Restoration Two Families - 1973 Magic Kingdom Restored Footage This month we release this 1973, beautifully restored film called "Two Families". The beginning features some amazingly clear and color corrected footage of the tram waiting area and the parking lot tram itself. The orange is so glorious! The film also includes some amazing shots of 20k Leagues, a monorail ride, The Contemporary Resort, and in park footage. The ending shows off an afternoon parade with extra large Mickey hats. The restoration on this one came out so nice, we hope you really enjoy it. The Polynesian episode has been teased, discussed and in the works ever since Episode 1. How has researched, re-researched and compiled so much information, we couldn't cram it all into just one episode. So for part I, we discuss the original concepts and ideas involved with the Polynesian. How gives us some of the crazy and some of the real ideas that actually came to be. The Polynesian, being a themed resort, was not normal back in this era. Design is discussed, including the idea of grass shacks in Florida and how these were constructed. The infamous Chest of Drawers is brought back to the forefront, but the Polynesian does things a bit differently with US Steel. How also goes into capacities and details planned in the late 60s, which is crazy to think all of this was planned in that era. You really need to listen to this one twice to take in all the details. The CIAO Study is a multicenter observational study currently underway in 66 European medical institutions over the course of a six-month study period (January-June 2012). This preliminary report overviews the findings of the first half of the study, which includes all data from the first three months of the six-month study period. Patients with either community-acquired or healthcare-associated complicated intra-abdominal infections (IAIs) were included in the study. 912 patients with a mean age of 54.4 years (range 4-98) were enrolled in the study during the first three-month period. 47.7% of the patients were women and 52.3% were men. Among these patients, 83.3% were affected by community-acquired IAIs while the remaining 16.7% presented with healthcare-associated infections. Intraperitoneal specimens were collected from 64.2% of the enrolled patients, and from these samples, 825 microorganisms were collectively identified. The overall mortality rate was 6.4% (58/912). According to univariate statistical analysis of the data, critical clinical condition of the patient upon hospital admission (defined by severe sepsis and septic shock) as well as healthcare-associated infections, non-appendicular origin, generalized peritonitis, and serious comorbidities such as malignancy and severe cardiovascular disease were all significant risk factors for patient mortality. White Blood Cell counts (WBCs) greater than 12,000 or less than 4,000 and core body temperatures exceeding 38 degrees C or less than 36 degrees C by the third post-operative day were statistically significant indicators of patient mortality.
The CIAO Study ("Complicated Intra-Abdominal infection Observational" Study) is a multicenter investigation performed in 68 medical institutions throughout Europe over the course of a 6-month observational period (January-June 2012). Patients with either community-acquired or healthcare-associated complicated intra-abdominal infections (IAIs) were included in the study. 2,152 patients with a mean age of 53.8 years (range: 4-98 years) were enrolled in the study. 46.3% of the patients were women and 53.7% were men. Intraperitoneal specimens were collected from 62.2% of the enrolled patients, and from these samples, a variety of microorganisms were collectively identified. The overall mortality rate was 7.5% (163/2.152). According to multivariate analysis of the compiled data, several criteria were found to be independent variables predictive of patient mortality, including patient age, the presence of an intestinal non-appendicular source of infection (colonic non-diverticular perforation, complicated diverticulitis, small bowel perforation), a delayed initial intervention (a delay exceeding 24 hours), sepsis and septic shock in the immediate post-operative period, and ICU admission. Given the sweeping geographical distribution of the participating medical centers, the CIAO Study gives an accurate description of the epidemiological, clinical, microbiological, and treatment profiles of complicated intra-abdominal infections (IAIs) throughout Europe.
Greene County, MO has seen a 120% increase in drug poisoning deaths when comparing January - June of 2020 to the same period in 2019. Something needs to be done, so we are building a task force to address the drug poisonings. We will have one podcast each month that outlines what we have done and are planning to do, in the hopes that if someone wants to build their own task force they can listen and see what we have done and learn from our successes and our mistakes.
