Perhaps you've heard the brouhaha surrounding writer-director Alex Garland's Kirsten Dunst-starring CIVIL WAR (2:18) and wondered what it's all about (um...a civil war...in the United States...in the near future). Wonder no more! Megan and Dave saw it, and they have things to say: unkind, complimentary, and all points in between. One of them hated it. One did not, acknowledging its strengths as well as its flaws. Then Evan joined Megan and Dave to watch THE GREATEST HITS (32:15), starring Lucy Boynton and Justin H. Min, and written and directed by Ned Benson. And guess what? NOT A ROM-COM, which Evan and Dave both thought it was when they hit play. No, it's a pretty serious look at grief with a romantic/fantasy (and a smidge of comedy) twist. We all liked it! And over on Patreon, we talk about James Cameron's 1989 film THE ABYSS, which was recently released for the first time on 4K.
Ian and Hannah take a look at some of the biggest new releases on UK streaming platforms for the week beginning Friday 12th April 2024, including:Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout (on Prime Video) is the story of haves and have nots in a world in which there's almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, a peaceful denizen from a cozy fallout shelter is forced to return to the surface--and is shocked to discover the wasteland waiting for her.Harriet (played by Lucy Boynton) discovers that certain songs have the power to transport her back in time—literally. As she relives romantic memories of her former boyfriend (David Corenswet), her time-traveling journey collides with a budding new love interest in the present (Justin H. Min). The hypnotic connection between music and memory prompts Harriet to ponder a crucial question: Even if she could change the past, should she? The Greatest Hits is a captivating original movie written and directed by Ned Benson, is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland on April 12th, 2024.Franklin is an upcoming biographical drama miniseries about the United States Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. It is based on Stacy Schiff's 2005 book “A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America”. The series stars Michael Douglas as Benjamin Franklin and is scheduled to be released on Apple TV+ on April 12, 2024.The Regime is a darkly comedic six-episode series that tells the story of life within the walls of a fictional European autocracy as it begins to unravel. Chancellor Elena Vernham (portrayed by Academy Award-winning Kate Winslet) leads this regime, but her dictatorship is showing cracks. She grows increasingly paranoid and unstable, eventually turning to a volatile soldier, Herbert Zubak (played by Matthias Schoenaerts), as an unlikely confidant. As Zubak's influence over the chancellor grows, Elena's attempts to expand her power result in both the palace and the country fracturing around her.Follow Bingewatch on all major podcast players for your weekly rundown of the best binge-worthy shows across Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and more.Remember to leave a 5 star review on Apple Podcasts, Podchaser and Goodpods AND you can now show your support and leave a tip for Ian and Hannah. You can also stay in touch with the team via Twitter and tell us what you're binge-watching.AND if you like Bingewatch but you're looking for a specific review, check out BITESIZE BINGEWATCH, our brand new sister show making it easier to get the bits you want!

We revisit and have a real conversation about a movie that we are both deeply fond of: After Yang by Kogonada, starring Colin Farrell, Justin H. Min, Haley Lu Richardson and Jodie Turner-Smith. We gush over Colin's performance, explore the fragility of memory, and discuss the difference between feeling and thinking about a film. Just as with experiencing the film, it's a little challenging to describe our discussion using written words... you'll just have to hear it for yourself.
Surely, if anyone can save us from rampaging megalodons, it's Jason Statham on a Jet-Ski. At least that's the point of "Meg 2: The Trench," which takes way too long to get going. We have a review of this surprisingly dull late-summer sequel on Breakfast All Day. We also review the indie rom-com "Shortcomings," Randall Park's feature directorial debut, starring Justin H. Min, Sherry Cola and Ally Maki. Plus the always brilliant Katie Walsh helps out with a catch-up review of the Australian horror movie "Talk to Me." In news, we have a bunch of corrections -- sometimes, we get things wrong! --plus Pedro Almodovar and Weird Barbie. And for our Patreon subscribers, we recap the first two episodes of "Heartstopper" season 2 on Netflix, which is as charming as ever. Come on in, the water's fine!
[NOTE: This episode was recorded before the start of the SAG-AFTRA strike. They Call Us Bruce fully supports the actors and writers unions and their fight for fair contracts.] Jeff and Phil welcome Randall Park and Justin H. Min to talk about their new film Shortcomings, based on the 2007 graphic novel by Adrian Tomine. They discuss Randall's directorial debut, parodying Crazy Rich Asians, sandwiches, getting away from the rep sweats and feeling free to make stories about unlovable, messy Asian Americans like Ben Tanaka. Also: The Good, The Bad, and The WTF of making Shortcomings.
It's summer and we're listening to reggaeton and going to the noraebang to sing Alanis Morissette. And we're watching romcoms! The Mash-Up Americans turns 10 this fall, and so we are doing all sorts of celebrating. In honor of bringing some joy to our Mash-Ups, over the next 10 days we're sharing our chart topping podcast Love & Noraebang! It's the most happy, joyful, fun Mash-Up love story starring Randall Park, Justin H. Min and Francia Raisa. Starting Tuesday, July 25 each day you will get a new episode in this feed. Our tagline: The only thing better than karaoke is finding The OneProduced by The Mash-Up Americans and Sonoro, Love & Noraebang is the first romcom, k-drama, telenovela podcast series that has it all: business enemies thwarting love, long distance drama, unrequited love, a match-making best friend, and last but not least, a surprisingly talkative City of Dreams. In 2022, it reached the top of the charts in the US, Korea and Mexico, was a nominee for Podcast of the Year and was one of Apple's favorite podcasts.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

On this episode Matt & Eric review Kogonada's After Yang starring Colin Farrell, Jodie Turner-Smith, Justin H. Min, Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja and Haley Lu Richardson.Matt's Rating: 4.5/5 Eric's Rating: 4.5/5
Director: Kogonada Screenwriters: Kogonada Starring: Colin Farrell, Jodie Turner-Smith, Justin H. Min, Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja, Haley Lu Richardson Sundance Synopsis: When Yang — a lifelike, artificially intelligent android that Jake and Kyra buy as a companion for their adopted daughter — abruptly stops functioning, Jake just wants him repaired quickly and cheaply. But having purchased Yang “certified refurbished” from a now-defunct store, he's led first to a conspiracy theorist technician and then a technology museum curator, who discovers that Yang was actually recording memories. Jake's quest eventually becomes one of existential introspection and contemplating his own life, as it passes him by. Snapshot Review: Writer/Director Kogonada understands that the futuristic can serve as a perfect frame for the quietly despondent and emotionally vibrant. After Yang takes an engrossing short story and adapts it into a breathtakingly gorgeous sci-fi film aimed right at the parts of our psyche we don't pay nearly enough attention. Here, the technology acts as a soft component of this vivid backdrop and a gateway through which the audience becomes immersed in the narrative. For all the story's sadness it's just as hopeful a journey into what holds a family together. This is a family in transition and watching them come to terms with the consequences of their unwitting choices offers compelling insight into identity, family and grief. Kogonada's sense of fun is readily apparent in what might be the best title sequence ever in a film. Yet, After Yang superbly translates the essence of loss, and deepens the allegory about our dependence and attachment to technology at the heart of Weinstein's story. This is an adaptation with heart and soul. *this review is updated from The MTR Network's Sundance 2022 coverage. Like what you hear? Subscribe so you don't miss an episode! Two of our leads from our new series, "Dating After College" share their insights into the dating world after leaving college.
Being a superhero is never easy, but it's doubly difficult when you're dead. Such is the fate of Ben Hargreeves (Justin H. Min), co-star of Netflix's quirky, dark superhero drama The Umbrella Academy, which released its first season a couple of weeks ago. (You can read Gena Radcliffe's review of the season here.) Nicknamed "The Horror," Ben, like the rest of his superpowered siblings, were snatched from immaculate birth and trained at the titular Umbrella Academy by their cold, unfeeling father figure Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) to become a team of superheroes. However, the pressures of their powers and the emotional distance from their father led to no small number of dysfunction - including Ben's untimely (and, for the audience at least, unexplained) death by the time the series begins. But thanks to his brother (and medium) Klaus (Robert Sheehan), we get to see Min's Ben tag along with the ragtag group of misfit heroes, a warm counterpoint to Klaus' drugged-out quirks and a stark reminder of the many ways this family has let each other down. It's a role that comes with its fair share of challenges, and Min was kind enough to sit down for a quick interview to talk about playing a dead guy who can only interact with one other person on set, the mysteries behind his character's untimely end, and what he'd like to see out of Ben if Umbrella Academy goes to a second season.
