Had a lovely, relaxed chat with renowned Australian actor, Stephen Peacocke, who plays flight nurse 'Pete Emerson' on the RFDS TV drama. We talk about growing up in regional NSW, mustering cattle by motor-bike on a remote station, becoming an actor, and then his most recent work on set as 'Pete Emerson'. The 'RFDS' TV drama is available on demand, on 7Plus after Series 1 and 2 aired on Channel 7. Series 3 is in scripting and will be filmed in 2024 and then coming to screens in Australia and across the world. Stephen's credits: Peacocke began his on-screen acting career in 2006 when he appeared in a small role in the Australian film Suburban Mayhem. He started appearing on television in 2007, when he played the role of Zeb Hall in the medical drama series All Saints. His other television credits include Packed to the Rafters, Rake and East West 101. He also appeared in the television film Emerald Falls in 2008, which starred Georgie Parker. Peacocke played a role in a parody of Rihanna's "Umbrella" music video called "Drifting in my cappella" with 1BUCK80. Peacocke appears in the 2011 feature film Burning Man, with Matthew Goode and Bojana Novakovic. In early 2011, Peacocke received the role of Darryl "Brax" Braxton, a local River Boy, on the Australian soap opera Home and Away.] In 2012, Peacocke won the Logie Award for Most Popular New Male Talent. The following year, he won the Most Popular Actor award. He also received a nomination for the Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television. Peacocke appears as Nic in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, an adaptation of Kim Barker's memoir The Taliban Shuffle. He also appears in the adaptation of Me Before You as Nathan, opposite Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin. Peacocke then starred as Detective Josh Levine in the 2016 Australian television series Wanted. He also appeared in the comedy film Cooped Up. 2019 saw Peacocke star alongside Kat Stewart and Hugh Sheridan in Network Ten's drama series Five Bedrooms, which focuses on five people who buy a house together after meeting at a wedding. The series was renewed for a second season, which began airing in August 2021, after a production delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After starring in war film Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan, Peacocke joined the cast of comedy drama Squinters for its second season, and appeared in the drama Les Norton. Peacocke starred in the Nine Network miniseries Informer 3838 as Detective Paul Dale, who heads up the Victorian Police drug squad, until he is wrongfully arrested and imprisoned. Peacocke plays flight nurse Pete Emerson in the drama series RFDS: Royal Flying Doctor Service. He carried out his own research to prepare for the role, including talking with people who worked with the Flying Doctor Service and training with a nurse.Peacocke also stars in the ABC drama series The Newsreader, which is set in a 1986 television newsroom. For his performance as sports reporter Rob Rickards, Peacocke earned an AACTA Award nomination for Best Guest or Supporting Actor in a Television Drama. ******** Thanks so much for listening to the Flying Doctor Podcast. This chat I am joined by 'Kat Stewart' one of Australia's most loved actresses. This week I had the exciting excuse of call 'Kat' to discuss the 4th season of 'Five Bedrooms.' Which launched last Sunday on 'Paramount +' and will be released weekly from there. I can tell you, the people at 'Paramount +' have been very kind and have realised the first 3 episodes of series 4 and so there is a massive kick start to this series. If you don't know 'Kat Stewart' then I believe you may be living under a rock. She is an actors actor and everyone she has worked with will tell you that and it is no wonder she is always getting ready to talk about an exciting new role. '5 Bedrooms' which started out as five friends all at different stages of their lives. making this bold decision to pull their funds together to buy their first home has really blossomed into this much loved series set in Melbourne. I will ask ‘'Kat Stewart' about why she has kept coming back to '5 Bedrooms' and why she has stayed in in Australia and not chased that elusive American market? 'Kat' will talk about iconic roles on 'Offspring,' 'Tangle' and 'Underbelly' and which characters are the most like her. We will discuss if 'Kat' feels like she could survive the premise of 'Five Bedrooms' and which beloved actor had his role unexpectedly extended due to COVID last year. Plus we will ALSO get plenty of exclusives from behind the scenes of 'Five Bedrooms' which as I mentioned started this week on 'Paramount +.' See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Kat Stewart has been a familiar face on Australian stage and screen for a number of years now. The award-winning actress is probably best known for her roles in the television series Offspring, Underbelly and Five Bedrooms, which is just starting its fourth season. But who is Kat Stewart when she's not being someone else? Kat opens up to Sandra about the fame game, the pain of losing her mum, and the importance of telling women's stories.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's bonus episode time, ya huh we're dropping an extra episode this week, which is why we're sitting here awaiting your listening pleasure on a Tuesday! I know right, so exciting, anyway this naturally means that Em will be back, as per usual, on Thursday for an amazing little chat with Melissa Leong from Masterchef. Today though it's all about giving Em's high school bestie, Michael Lucas a chance to get his chat on with one of his friends and coworkers, Stephen Peacocke. Stephen came to prominence for Aussie viewersplaying a local river boy called Brax on the TV soap ‘Home and Away'. Michael knows him better from playing the characters he created for his own shows, like tradie Ben on the drama series ‘Five Bedrooms' and as the ex AFL player turned sport reporter, Rob Rickards on Michael's award winning series ‘The Newsreader'. Stephen is an actual unicorn according to Michael and his costar Kat Stewart, you'll find out why plus hear more about how he got to where he is now. You'll also get to hear Michael reveal his theory on why he's still so down to earth, even though he's won multiple Logies and appeared in major Hollywood movies. There's even some behind the scenes goss from the forthcoming season of ‘Five Bedrooms'. So find your favourite chill out zone and prepare to get to know the man behind some of Australian TV's favourite knockabout blokes. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

THE BAZURA PROJECT'S RADIO FREE CINEMATHE TV SHOW ABOUT MOVIES IS NOW A RADIO PROGRAM RELEASED AS A PODCASTOn 29 September 2011, The Bazura Project's Guide To Sinema, a comedy series devoted to exploring cinematic sins, began its extremely limited run on the ABC. Now, exactly ten years later, the creators are back with their most exciting project yet: a press release. But it's a press release that's promoting their next thing, The Bazura Project's Radio Free Cinema. As many will doubtless recall, The Bazura Project's Radio Free Cinema was a huge hit, broadcast on an unspecified radio station an indeterminate number of years ago. Now, the recordings that everyone had believed (and hoped) were lost forever have been uncovered, digitised, cleaned up, edited for slander, and are now ready to be released on a podcast platform where they can be heard again… for the first time.Over six thrilling and definitely factual instalments, The Bazura Project's Radio Free Cinema will explore every possible aspect of the film world, including:interviews with the film industry's best and brightest, including: Aussie soap star-turned-Hollywood headliner, Amelia Bell-Jarman; the Oscar-winning producer of some of cinema's least challenging mid-brow works, Catarina Rice; achingly-dull minimalist Hungarian film composer Máté Lantos; and studio janitor from Hollywood's golden age, Jerry Schutzexclusive first-listen trailers for the most exciting new high-concept thrillers, low-concept romantic comedies, poorly-conceived fantasy adventures, crowd-placating dramas, and overstimulating kids' filmsoriginal songs from your favourite soundtracks and never-before-heard music from your least-favourite unreleased moviesdispatches from all around the world, including: an exclusive Sundance Film Festival premiere after-party; the world's greatest voice coaching academy on an island in the Baltic Sea; and a glamorous and exceedingly-morbid awards ceremony in the heart of Alaskaplus much, much more“It was always our plan to air six poorly-rated episodes on the endlessly-rebranded ABC2, disappear into obscurity for a decade, and then return with a six-episode podcast that wouldn't make us any money,” says co-creator and co-presenter Lee Zachariah.“The presently-oversaturated market of podcasts presented us with the perfect opportunity to release our own,” says co-creator and co-presenter Shannon Marinko. “If you manage to find it, and enjoy it, it's probably someone else's.”The show will feature an overstuffed cast that includes Tom Ballard, Rusty Berther, Kristy Best, Robyn Butler, Rhonda Burchmore, Santo Cilauro, Marc Fennell, Tim Ferguson, Abe Forsythe, Bob Franklin, Francis Greenslade, Tosh Greenslade, Roz Hammond, Stephen Hall, Andrew Hansen, Peter Helliar, Tegan Higginbotham, Ming-Zhu Hii, Adam Hills, Claire Hooper, Wayne Hope, Dan Ilic, Laura Hughes, Mark Humphries, Nazeem Hussain, Ed Kavalee, Christopher Kirby, Colin Lane, Tommy Little, Cassandra Magrath, Tony Martin, Shaun Micallef, Rhys Muldoon, Brian Nankervis, Celia Pacquola, Geraldine Quinn, Ben Russell, John Safran, Kat Stewart, Emily Taheny, Chris Taylor, Dave Thornton, Toby Truslove, Michael Veitch, Cal Wilson, and many, many more. The six-part series begins on October 5 on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Radio Public, or directly via our website: bazuraproject.com/radiofreecinemaThe trailer is available to hear now via this link. The Bazura Project began its life on community television in 2006, running for 36 episodes across three seasons on Channel 31 Melbourne, TVS Sydney, 31 Brisbane, and C31 Adelaide. Kat Stewart joins us ahead of the launch of 'Five Bedrooms' Season 2
One of my favourite actors – a performer who can do comedy and drama, stage and screen, and that’s Kat Stewart. Kat got a degree in marketing and arts before attending the National Theatre drama school at night while working as a publicist during the day. After graduating, she started making guest appearances on The Secret Life of Us, Stingers and Blue Heelers before landing her first leading role on BBC’s Supernova opposite Rob Brydon. After that, came her award-winning turn as Roberta Williams in Underbelly – followed by Newstopia, Tangle, Offspring, Mr and Mrs Murder and now Five Bedrooms. We discuss most of those shows in this interview and a few more. But before getting to the questions, we talked about our childhoods and Kat happened to mention she went to school with Portia De Rossi. Are you ready for an entire episode devoted to adoring Kat Stewart? If your answer is, who the hell is Kat Stewart...then HOW VERY DARE YOU, but also please allow us to educate you on her brilliance. Fun fact, she's the Emsolation podcasts number one ticket holder, okay so we don't actually have any tickets, (aside from the ones we have on ourselves, naturally) but what we mean is she's officially our biggest fan and has been since Emsolation first started. She holds that position because she is a dear friend of both Em and Michael and she's also been in almost ALL of our living rooms at one stage in our lives. You see Kat is famous for playing people like Roberta Williams in the TV Series Underbelly, and Nat Manning in Tangle, plus there's her role as Billie Proudman in Offspring (a role written by Michael Lucas and actually based on our fabulous leader Em Rusciano) and lets not forget her current role as Liz Wendell in Five Bedrooms. Look, I could sit here and type up her entire IMDB profile if you want, but that's hardly going to be as entertaining as this chat. To properly set the scene before you listen, please know that Em and Michael had both been having a teensy beverage, so they are feeling loose, also it was late at night, plus Em had no technical wizards to help her set up her recording devices, so there are a few hiccups within this episode. To begin we start with a very special introduction that Em hasn't even heard, she actually won't get to hear the introduction until she listens to the show once it's gone live on Spotify, you'll understand more once you plug yourself in and have a listen. Also it should be flagged that the hateful warlock of technical difficulties strikes again, this time he actually refused to record Em's vocals. So you'll get a great and hilarious chat for about 30 minutes, then you'll get selected highlights of the rest of the chat that feature recorded introductions from Em and then Kat and Michael's replies. In all honesty, the tequila when mixed with Em's competitive nature, plus the fact that Michael did actual research for once, means he was in for a whole heap of mockery throughout, so we took the actual funniest parts of the lost conversation and present them to you in bite size perfection. They include two wonderful pieces of Kat Stewart trivia from Michael, who loves to reveal uncomfortable secrets at the drop of a hat, plus there's a bunch of info on the forthcoming season of Five Bedrooms and also some proof that Kat is a huge fan of this podcast as well. Honestly, the stuff that was lost probably should stay lost, so we are seeing it as a blessing, but Em will be making a sacrifice of some sort to ensure that we manage to move forward without any technical hiccups in future episodes. So settle in for three mates having a huge gasbag about their friendship, a revisit with Kat's work as Roberta Williams in Underbelly, including a return of that character to our podcast mic, there's also a heap of Offspring talk, including the return of the fact that Michael is responsible for killing off Patrick, and how much info Michael stole from Em's actual life, to slip into the script. Plus there's soooo much more audio goodness that you didn't know you needed in your ears, until you actually hear it, so hurry up and get amongst it now. Learn more about your ad choices. Episode 23 of The Blank Canvas with Kat Stewart. Making a career in the performing arts is notoriously challenging but in this case the cream has certainly risen to the top. Kat Stewart's searing performance as Roberta Williams in the iconic first TV series of UNDERBELLY, planted her into our collective consciousness. Kat received both the 2008 AFI Award for Best Lead Actress and the 2009 Logie Award for Most Outstanding Actress. Whether comedy, drama or anything in between, the incredible performances and accolades have followed ever since, however Kat is probably best known for her AACTA Award winning portrayal of Billie Proudman in the TV phenomenon - Offspring. Aside from being a lovely human and charming conversationalist, this is an inspiring career change story; Kat completed a degree in marketing and arts and was working as full time publicist for publisher Penguin Books. Unable to shake the acting bug from some university theatre she dabbled in, she studied acting at night after work for 3 years, eventually getting her confidence up to taking the plunge into that arena. "There are some people that have just driven by an innate self-belief, I'm driven by a lot of self doubt, but it means that I work really hard because I do think that I can fail at any second. You know, every time I take on a job, I think, oh shit. I don't know if I can pull this off. Every character you starting from ground zero, but in a way that's the greatest thing, the fear and the trepidation is a respect for the task at hand.” Kat’s latest hit TV series is FIVE BEDROOMS which is produced by Hoodlum. Series Two is returning to Network 10 in 2021. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1830811/ https://www.instagram.com/kat_stewy/ W: https://theblankcanvaspodcast.com.au/ W: https://leerogers.com.au/ SOCIALS Insta: @theblankcanvaspodcast FB - The Blank Canvas Podcast Twitter: @blankcanvaspod THE BLANK CANVAS TEAM Produced by Lee Rogers & Rien MacDonald. Kat Stewart is an Aussie household name due to her many stellar and powerful performances in the very best of Australian TV and theatre, which have led to her winning many accolades including AACTA and Logie awards. Kat became known in Australia for her stunning performances as Roberta Williams in Underbelly, and as Billie Proudman in my favourite Australian series, Offspring. When we spoke she had just wrapped up filming the second season of her latest TV show, Five Bedrooms. I talked to Kat about her career, and how she started out working in PR in Melbourne. However there was something inside her that just had to pursue her passion for performing, and so she transitioned her career from PR to acting. It wasn’t an easy road to follow, and Kat was very frank about the challenges that she faced when first starting out in acting. But if you are contemplating a career in acting or in the creative arts, her advice is encouraging. If you have that creative passion burning inside you, you’ve just got to do it. And if you’re in a career right now that you don’t necessarily love, it can always help you as you explore your creative side and turn it into your career. I'm sure I'm not alone in having been touched by this woman's career at some point or another in one of the many stellar roles she has portrayed that have made her an Aussie household name. Kat Stewart is one of our most outstanding actresses winning many accolades for her talents including AACTA and the coveted Logie awards. But as you'll hear today, despite her immense gratitude for the recognition she has earned, she is the ultimate professional and passionately dedicated to the art form in both TV and theatre and I love her attitude of just putting her head down and getting the job done well. Extremely down to earth and originally from Bairnsdale where my own family is from, she was such a pleasure to chat to and I loved her honesty about not only the fun and glamorous moments but the very nitty gritty parts of forming an acting career. You may recognise her as Roberta Williams in Underbelly or Billie Proudman in Offspring (with many TV and theatre roles in between) but what I'm so excited about is her new show Five Bedrooms on Channel 10. A comedy drama based on the disaster of buying property these days, it focuses on 5 different people who end up at the singles table at a wedding and eventually buy a house together with each episode narrated by a different character. At the time of recording, it was just before the first episode but at the time of publishing, TONIGHT is the first episode led by Kat's character Liz. You'll hear more about it in the episode and should absolutely tune in tonight (and all Wednesdays) at 8:40pm! + See show notes here + Announcements on Insta at @spoonful_of_sarah + Subscribe to not miss out on the next instalment of YAY!

The show started off with a bang with actress Kat Stewart on the phone with NNS ahead of the launch of ‘Five Bedrooms’ on Channel 10. She chatted to the guys about the show and how she started out playing characters that weren’t too nice – to now characters that she LOVES to play – hooray! The winners of Lego Masters, Henry and Cade joined the guys after last night’s night amazing episode. They said their final piece will be on display in Melbourne and the guys were almost tempted to fly over and check it out. They said it didn’t happen overnight and there were many lunch breaks and toilets stops along the way!Nicole was on Breakfast club today and her parents lent a helping hand – her dad cooked up an Italian lasagne and her mum made a Spanish omelette and she provided the chocolate, coconut balls – delicious! And Nathan got stuck with an elderly lady called Joan on the plane yesterday, he ended up helping her with EVERYTHING. The guys discussed how you can’t say no to old people and there were a few great stories including Jess who lets her neighbour use her shower every day and the other Jess who is a nurse…well she was off duty at the time when an elderly lady approached her for some advice. Kat Stewart and Browny perform an acting Masterclass, using the script from the Sylvester Stallone classic Over The Top; US comedian and former SNL cast member Jay Pharoah did every impression we could throw at him; Joel Creasey called in from Tel Aviv to give us the lowdown on Kate Miller-Heidke’s run in Eurovision; you called to tell Sam Pang your awful jokes, he didn’t laugh, no one was surprised; and Deano challenged us to another round of Who The Bloody Hell Was That? Nothing says 'relax' more than being in a new, confined space in a foreign country with the people who love you no matter what. Right?!
Continuing the week long retrospective, and I turn to the 20th Episode of Coming Up Next, when I was joined by one of the most prolific actors in Australia, Kat Stewart.

2015 was the year that CUN, and thus being silly in podcast form, was born. Before we round out 2016, let's jump back in time, and relive some of the best moments from the first 24 episodes. Molly Meldrum, Doug Jones, Liam McIntyre, Kat Stewart, Dylan Lewis, Tottie Goldsmith... The first 24 episodes of Coming Up Next all had one thing in common - what makes some of the top creatives in Australia (and the world) silly?
